[The value of anything is highly subjective, always determined by a 'seller' and 'buyer' when they strike a deal. Therefore the value of any given 'thing', e.g. human life, varies according to who is the human and who is the 'buyer'. Any values set by third parties with no skin in the game are arbitrary and quickly circumvented by/in markets. So consider the back window yellow diamond sign that reads 'Drive carefully, Baby inside', and another one reading 'Drive carefully, young PhD in neuro-science inside', or even one that reads 'Drive carefully, Community organizer inside'. How would you rate the implied value of these lives? to you? to society? gjr]

I am assuming you were were a supporter of the war in Iraq of which Bolton was one of the main architects. Remember the ol’ WMD lie used to seal the deal? Well that was John Bolton’s main pitch. If you were not a supporter of the war I stand corrected but in extensive conversations about the topic through the years on this blog I don’t recall you supporting me in opposing the precise for the war which was tne WMD lies. That was of course John Bolton’s main reason for the war, Remember he was National Security Advisor under Bush.
Todd was the main supporter of the war on this blog and therefore he embraced Boltons lies.
https://zfacts.com/zfacts.com/p/581.html
So Scott to make it simple did you support the War in Iraq?
Direct quote from Bolton:
” It has rebuilt its civilian chemical infrastructure and renewed production of chemical warfare agents, probably including mustard, sarin, and VX. It actively maintains all key aspects of its offensive BW [biological weapons] program.”

I doubt I could ever make it simple enough for you, Paul.
Not playing your childish games. If you wish to have a conversation, we can do that.
I have no idea of what Bolton has said about Trump in his book and I have no proof of any kind that Bolton ever lied about anything.
If you believe Bolton to be a liar, what proof do you have that he is telling the truth about Trump?
LikeLike
None Scott until it’s confirmed by others. Bolton did lie about WMD’s in Iraq that led to justify our illegal invasion of a sovereign nation though that was embraced by most contributors to this blog including our host.
WMD’s were never found and that was confirmed by
Rumsfeld of all people.
You seem content to remain ignorant Scott which can in your mind absolve you of any responsibility for having an opinion and contributing to the conversation.

If you have proof that Bolton intentionally lied, Paul – then provide that evidence.
Until then, it’s just your opinion.
The fact that I might not share your opinion is proof of nothing as well.

MSNBC’s Hayes Calls ‘Duplicitous’ John Bolton the Leader of the GOP
“In Tuesday’s All In, MSNBC host Chris Hayes bizarrely insisted that the true leader of the Republican Party is John Bolton, not Donald Trump.
“Hayes described Bolton as “duplicitous, untrustworthy, extremely militaristic” in his Tuesday night rant on why the American people should trust what Bolton says in his new tell-all book. Hayes also called Bolton “morally odious.” But, the host encouraged, believe the book.”…..
“The MSNBC host’s spin is incoherent when you think about the differences between Trump and Bolton. Bolton was heavily involved in the Iraq War, which President Trump, and some of his voters, opposed. Bolton is a career bureaucrat, as Hayes highlighted, which is exactly what Trump is not.
The key question is why would the liberal media believe Bolton now? Chris Hayes and the rest of the mainstream media will rush to support him, even though they never have before, simply because it fits their narrative that Trump should be impeached and removed from office; a narrative that begun just minutes after Trump was sworn into office.”

Darn, I’d mostly forgotten about all of that. The Left was busy blaming the US for an Iraq armed with a French reactor, German chemical plants, Russian arms. The Right was seeing ghosts in piss-poor CIA reports. A good time was had by all.
In a realpolitik sense, it’s a heckuva lot easier to bribe/threaten a dictator than it is to replace governments. Especially when you are trying to build America Jr. in an Arab country, a laughably fruitless quest as they are simply incapable of running a modern democracy.
No lesson was learned of course since Team Blue felt the need to blow up Libya and Syria just to get even with the Bushes. I suppose the truth is that the national security apparatus never changed and thus the policy never changed. In a Biden presidency (well, his VP’s presidency) you can expect them drones to start flyin’ again. NSAGoogleCIAFacebookKVMR would be ridin’ high. In a Trump 2.0 presidency, well, they’ll just keep burning down your cities.

The other attractive attribute about Susan Rice is a couple of weeks ago or so she floated the idea that the Russians were behind this current division in the country to help Trump win re-election. Perfect Deep State player. The preferred choice of the Industrial Intellligence-Military Complex.
Oh course, nobody believed Susan Rice’s recent Russian conspiracy….except one lone person who happens to frequent here…as evidenced by Dr. Rebane’s Scattershots update:
“[12jun20 update] Russian collusion is alive and well in the belief and propaganda systems of the Left (witnessed by our leftwinger comments). To the rest of us it is astounding that the progressives’ hatred of Trump impels them to continue one their most vicious Big Lies, day after day telling the country that Trump did indeed collude with the Russians. But more importantly, that part and parcel of this collusion enabled the Russians to interfere in the 2016 so successfully that it was the impact of their efforts that sealed the ‘fraudulent election’ in Trump’s favor. This narrative continues unabated to this day.”

BillT re: Susan Rice “The preferred choice of the Industrial Intelligence-Military Complex.”
It’s probably easiest to just view it as a form of Restoration. The seats are still warm as the old lords and masters slide back into them. Of course, given the appearance of a quasi-governmental sort of surveillance economy provided by Silicon Valley monopolies, it might be permanent this time.
One big problem with the Trump movement is that it is too heavily based on him as a personality, like Cromwell I suppose. The Blue Mob has it’s Year Zero to gather around, but no central personality (although oddly it appears to currently have a Jesus), while Team Red has a personality but a less emotionally exciting message of traditional America, Western Civilization, etc. Even if Trump 2.0 comes to pass, I haven’t yet seen a successor.
It’s worth considering how you can counter what is basically a Blue Mob militant religion. The younger you are, the easier to get swept into the mob, especially in an era of social media. Today’s boycott and ‘peaceful’ march turns into tomorrow’s arson followed by next week’s Terror. I hate to think that the typical response to militant belief systems is a simple mirror image, but the examples of Weimar Germany or Yugoslavia don’t give me much hope.

Most historians firmly plant Hitler et. al. on the right, not to mention all of the South American despots the US has installed and supported over the years and the American trained (School of the Americas) death squads that have flourished. What is your “how would you rate” question if not an attempt to “put a wholesale value on human lives”? Is not police murdering black people or prison, with a statistical imbalance of people of color who are given more severe sentences than white people for the same crimes, not disposing of people for the common good of white supremacy?
