    ….”language of the oppressor”?

What a Greek Fishermans Cap wearing putz.

“Did you miss the part about “too drunk to drive“? The anti-drunk-driving campaign is now decades old, and officer discretion has been reduced in many different areas. A Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) over 0.08 is now evidence of Driving Under the Influence, requiring arrest of the driver and impoundment of the car. It is standard procedure in many places to handcuff arrested persons for their own safety and officer safety.
These and other laws were enacted at the impassioned urgings of liberals just like you. Now you don’t like them, you’d rather let drunks just go driving home? Suppose the police let him go and in his intoxicated condition he ran into someone else and killed them, wouldn’t the police be partly liable for that death? Do you see where your emotions lead you?
Rather shocking for a liberal to be so blase’ about turning a drunk loose with car keys.”

Atlanta shooting. IF MaryW’s 1109am is correct, then it’s not an open/shut case for the cops. My own LE training was through the Army Military Police course abbreviated for combat arms officers who subsequently had to pull Officer of the Guard duty. My regular tours as OG of a kaserne (about once every 3 wks) in Germany included being the 24hr sheriff of a community of 3,000 Americans (active duty and dependents) with authority over Americans in the neighboring town where GIs went to do some additional I&I. I lost count of the altercations – both family feuds and saloons – I had to handle as the OG, it was all part of the drill when stationed overseas. My standing orders allowed me to use deadly force only when the loss of life was “imminent”, and that always meant I had to let the perp make the first unambigously telling move. But hey, that’s why we were paid the big bucks – $218/mo. So, it sure looks like the Atlanta shooting could have been brought down to a soft landing by some more deft instead of daft police work. Just saying.

CORONAVIRUS HYSTERIA IS OVER…..unless it involves a Trump rally.
“The disease isn’t over, but the hysteria is. For many, the turning point came when public health “experts” who had bitterly denounced demonstrations against shutdowns as health hazards, responded to the Black Lives Matter riots with silence and, often, enthusiastic endorsement. That lasted until President Trump announced his intention to resume holding rallies. Once again, we are told that public gatherings are a vitally important health threat. It isn’t hard to understand the game that is being played here.“

You could well be correct, but it seems that some folk don’t want to wait for an accurate assessment – they just start rioting, looting and burning.
The blacks don’t care when the police murder white folk – so they shouldn’t expect much more than a shoulder shrug now. If the left and the blacks want to do something about ALL police misconduct, and do it peacefully, we can improve our nation.
As it is – there are going to be way too many people on both sides that simply won’t care about the appropriateness (or not) of the officers’ actions.

Well, the Atlanta shooting looks like the perfect case to be decided in court. Differing accounts, witnesses, video footage (some only partial, incomplete) and of course, due process where the rights of the accused are the charge of the court. Yes, it is beholden upon a judge to protect the defendant’s rights.
If nothing else, the Atlanta shooting was a great excuse to burn down the Wendy’s, torch surrounding vehicles, block of the Interstate, and get the police chief to resign. Not much to burn in that area anyways. Industrial area. Always a silver lining.

I think I will wait 48-72 hours to jump in on the Atlanta shooting. I do know that many times in our local police blotter are tales of someone passed out in the drive thru and the subject is arrested, without incident. Wrestling with cops never mentioned. Odd. Probably too loaded to resist. Too drunk to screw, so to speak. Dope is a different story.
A POLICE SHOOTING IN ATLANTA [UPDATED WITH VIDEO]
“I will leave it to experts in the use of force to debate whether this shooting was justified, but it certainly wasn’t unjustified in any normal sense. It is outrageous that the officer was immediately fired and Atlanta’s Chief of Police has resigned. It will be impossible to maintain an acceptable level of public order if miscreants like Rayshard Brooks are lionized and those who have to deal with them are demonized.”

But it seems we’re only supposed to get our undies in a bunch when the perp is a black. I do support the police and have found most allegations of police mistreatment of citizens to be bogus. There is absolutely no valid reason for the people to be rioting and demonstrating after these last 2 police fatal shootings. There is zero evidence that the authorities are ignoring or sweeping the matters under the rug.

Those weren’t masks. Them be hoods to cover their faces…too many cell phones around, if you catch my drift and if you have a criminal mind. This ain’t Quainty Town we are talking about.
Speaking of Quainty Town, how long do you think you can keep your historical district intact until they come for that bad racist and Nevada City’s exploitation history?? Under 20 years? History will show the mayor and all involved today rather than condemn its wretched past, condoned it and left monuments to the Earth’s degradation left standing. The mob will be a’coming after the Libs. Demolish the place. They don’t care about no BLM peaceful march. I am off the hook.
No matter how peaceful the true peaceful protestors are, you guys cannot control them or boss them once the sun goes down. Too pussy whimped to stand up to them. They will tell ya to fuck off (the most used word in the English language over last 12 days) right to your face. Have your peace marches and denounce racism. Yep, that takes a lot of courage to be against racism. Much backbone, lol.
Then, call me a racist because I don’t support BLM forceful enough for them. Silence is violence. So, it’s now not only supporting BLM in the way that means totally condone them and lead a cheer for them, but if I do so casually, that makes me and other racists. Too funny. Total mind control. Not supporting the cause in the way they demand I do. Ok, try it again, but this time with more feeling.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iokKq1VUrE
Well, guess what? I do not support the BLM Organization. Not the pawns, the man on the south side of the tracks. The Organization. It’s a a racist and bigoted organization that specializes in blowIng dog whistles and makes its money peddling grievances via race baiting. The hustlers. The race hustlers. Hmmm. That would qualified me as a racist…along with those that don’t support the cause loudly enough so every pencil neck virtue signaler can hear. Ain’t going to happen.
Nice group of folks you hang with. And don’t going saying that you are not them, you are non-violent.. You may not be interested in them, but they are interested in you. The Mob. They will be coming to your door in due time. Either you are with them, or you are against them. And if you are not with them, you are a racist and they have ways to make your life most miserable. Ain’t about BLM.

Here is one for the TDS set –
But throughout the Republican Party’s vast organization in the states, the operational approach to Trump’s re-election campaign is hardening around a fundamentally different view.
Interviews with more than 50 state, district and county Republican Party chairs depict a version of the electoral landscape that is no worse for Trump than six months ago — and possibly even slightly better. According to this view, the coronavirus is on its way out and the economy is coming back. Polls are unreliable, Joe Biden is too frail to last, and the media still doesn’t get it.
“The more bad things happen in the country, it just solidifies support for Trump,” said Phillip Stephens, GOP chairman in Robeson County, N.C., one of several rural counties in that swing state that shifted from supporting Barack Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016. “We’re calling him ‘Teflon Trump.’ Nothing’s going to stick, because if anything, it’s getting more exciting than it was in 2016.”
This year, Stephens said, “We’re thinking landslide.”
In Ohio, Jane Timken, the state party chair, said she sees no evidence of support for Trump slipping. Jennifer Carnahan, the chairwoman of the Minnesota Republican Party, said the same. And Lawrence Tabas, the chairman of the Pennsylvania Republican Party, went so far as to predict that Trump would not only carry his state, but beat Biden by more than 100,000 votes — more than twice the margin he mustered in 2016.
“Contrary to what may be portrayed in the media, there’s still a high level of support out there,” said Kyle Hupfer, chairman of the Indiana Republican Party. He described himself as “way more” optimistic than he was at this point in 2016.
The Republican Party apparatus that Trump heads in 2020 is considerably different than the one that looked at him warily in 2016. At the state level, many chairs who were considered insufficiently committed to the president were ousted and replaced with loyalists. But their assessments would be easier to dismiss as spin if the perception of Trump’s durability did not reach so far beyond GOP officialdom.
When pollsters ask Americans who they think will win the election — not who they are voting for themselves — Trump performs relatively well. And if anything, Trump’s field officers appear more bullish than Trump and some of his advisers.

    34. “Boston mayor Marty Walsh is considering removing a statue of Abraham Lincoln with a freed slave, after a resident filed an online petition that has garnered over 7,000 signatures.
The statue shows Lincoln standing with an arm raised above the freed slave, who is kneeling.
“It says that it’s a statue that’s supposed to represent freedom. But, to me, it represents submissiveness,” Tory Bullock, who started the petition, told Boston’s local ABC affiliate. “It represents: ‘Know your place, because that’s where you belong.’”

    30. Joyce Kenner, principle of the selective Chicago high school Whitney Young, faces calls for her resignation over her statements on the George Floyd demonstrations and her leadership more generally. Kenner, who is black, had previously worked for the Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition.
The principle has called for students of Whitney Young not to join in violent acts should they occur at George Floyd demonstrations, although she has voiced support for students who choose to join peaceful protests. Kenner has also resisted calls to ban Chicago police from city schools, citing the 1999 Columbine High School shooting.
An online petition claims that Kenner “silenced student activists speaking against all forms of injustice. Her silence and her enabling of the systematic oppression that her black and low-income students face should be condemned.”
“Nobody is going to push me out. I’m not resigning. I still have a lot of work to do for my African American students,” Kenner told the Chicago Tribune on June 13.

Guess I will put this here, since it covers several topic. Addicted to Outrage.
    Years of Rage
“Rallies organized by the Democrats to support Trump’s impeachment were remarkably tepid. The Covid-19 lockdown preempted mass protest for most of the first half of 2020. But following the killing of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day, the country saw an explosion of activity, as Black Lives Matter came out of dormancy to claim status as a prominent, almost revered American institution. The enforcement on social distancing and quarantining was waived on the grounds that protesting racial injustice was also a health emergency—and apparently one that took precedence over Covid-19.
This catalog of the last several years is not exhaustive; many other smaller, local protests have taken place over this time, as is generally customary in the United States. But something different is going on in recent years, with these intense blitzes of all-consuming fury about issues of supposedly dire importance—issues about which no dissenting opinion is conceivable, let alone tolerable—and amplified by a national media megaphone that, in concert with the Democratic Party, appears motivated by singular hatred of Trump.
This period of intermittent agitation, like Orwell’s “Two-Minute Hate” in Nineteen Eighty-Four, creates and channels rage. Recently, with the rioting, looting, and destruction in multiple American cities, the rage turned violent—though this outbreak has abated, at least for the time being. Nonetheless, the spike in national cortisol levels is wrecking our equilibrium and capacity to collect ourselves and is doing the body politic no good.”
    https://www.city-journal.org/cycle-of-protests-in-america
Well, I suppose it’s a good thing the TDS crowd has learned to channel their rage. Always a silver lining.
