John Hickenlooper’s sworn testimony that his meeting with Vernon Jordan was not political is directly contradicted by his own public statements. While Hickenlooper has already been cited for multiple ethics violations, Coloradans deserve to know if he also committed perjury by lying to the IEC.
National Republican Senatorial spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez said in a statement on Friday that Coloradans deserve a better representative than someone who violated the state’s ethics rules:
The Ethics Commission’s decision to order John Hickenlooper pay the highest penalty in Commission history is an important step toward accountability.
Hickenlooper violated the Colorado constitution, disrespected the rule of law, and forced the Commission to subpoena him and find him in contempt before answering their questions.

Iranian officials are warning that U.S. sanctions pressure may soon force the regime to shut down its international media operations, such as PressTV, Arabic iFilm, and Al-Alam.
Historian Daniel Pipes, a dedicated critic of Islamism and Iran’s theocratic regime, took the news as a “great success” for the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign:
The Jerusalem Post on Friday confirmed that Iranian officials are talking about losing satellite access for their international programming in a matter of “days and weeks.” PressTV, in particular, would be an embarrassing loss for the regime, as it provides Iran’s primary English-language propaganda network.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported a major setback for PressTV last week when Facebook began labeling it as “state-controlled media,” along with similar operations in Russia and China. Facebook announced it will begin blocking advertising from state media later this summer.
YouTube deleted PressTV’s U.K. channel in January after the Times of London documented how it was spreading “pro-Tehran, anti-Israeli propaganda.” Ironically, that propaganda currently includes loud assertions that U.S. sanctions are hurting America far more than Iran.
Radio Farda noted on Wednesday Iran’s Radio Dari service and Al-Kowsar television network have already been shuttered due to unpaid debts to their satellite providers.

What kind of example is our President setting for not following the recommendations of health officials when it comes to the virus when he’s willing to ignore recommendations in Tulsa County Oklahoma that had 79 new cases this week and the Tulsa Health Department that specifically recommended against large indoor gatherings. He plans to go ahead with his rally attracting 17,000. Do you think he’s going to recommend face masks and social distancing?
“Health officials in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have urged caution on attending gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic — just over a week before President Donald Trump is set to host a massive indoor campaign rally in the city.
The Tulsa Health Department noted on its website Friday that Tulsa County had reported 71 new cases of the virus that day, its highest daily increase to date. Preliminary investigations linked the rise to indoor gatherings, it said.
Trump’s rally is planned for June 20 at the 19,000-capacity BOK Center.
A waiver on Trump’s 2020 campaign website warns people requesting tickets that “an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present” and they forfeit the right to sue anyone involved in the organization of the event if they catch the virus there.
Tulsa’s health officials did not explicitly refer to Trump’s rally in the statement.
“Dr. Bruce Dart, the department’s executive director, said he has “concerns about large groups of people gathering indoors for prolonged lengths of time.”

‘Persistent Fragilities’ sounds like Greenspan speak. Once reopened, there will undoubtedly a surge at restaurants. Pent up demand. But, after that initial spike? I still maintain that during the lock down people are/have cultivating habits, new habits. Some (not all) will continue cooking at home, homeschooling their kids (if parent is available and not working), skipping some drives to town, avoiding crowds, and asking themselves “do we really need to go out tonight?” And it is probable some, in the back of their minds, have developed a phobia of public transit and the night life. Americans eat 50% of their meals away from the home, so that may change a bit. Means a lot if you are running a service sector business on a thin margin.
Who knows what percentage of folks will be comfortable with spending more time at home, more time with the family, and more time eating healthy food made at home? I don’t know, but habits are quickly formed. Do something everyday for 17-19 straight days and it’s a habit.
Meanwhile….Dear Diary
When to the grocery store in GV yesterday. 2nd time since right before the TP panic and the shut down started. First time was a couple of weeks ago and masks were everywhere at the Dent Can Store. Yesterday, I pulled into the parking lot, pulled out my too hot for comfort N-95 mask from between the seats, shook off the dust and dog air, and noticed all the people, even The Elderly, walking in the store without a single mask on. Heck, I took off my mask, shoveled it in my back pocket, and walked right on in and joined the crowd. Pretty crowded, but not packed. I did see about 2-3 customers wearing a mask (all women) out of who knows, maybe a hundred or more. Parking lot was full.
To mask or not to mask is the question….or to unmask or not to unmask is the other question.

That may be true but in this case I believe Mike’s venom is reserved for those he perceives as “class traitors”….the blue collar white guys that he used to pull for (Roger & Me), the blue collar white guys that got Trump elected.
He knows that white “Big Money” is going come through this just fine. They always do. They’ll just extract money from the treasury to pacify the inner cities again. More set asides, more affirmative action, they might even swing reparations this time though the mechanism to compensate the descendants of slavery will be an absolute nightmare. Every Nigerian here for economic improvement will suddenly become a “True Son of the South. Every Ugandan who got here in the 70’s will have stories about his ancestors travails while escaping the plantation during the time of the Underground Railroad.
America as we knew it is dead! The only solace I take is that the revolution eats its own. There already starting to see graffiti that says….“Liberals get the bullet too”! Which I suppose is some comfort in difficult times!

“L” a taser is not a deadly weapon. The guy was asleep. They said he was wasted but he beat down two trained police and took the guys taser. They BS’d with the driver for 25 minutes before trying to cuff him. They could have just let him get something to eat. And sleep it off. He did not look that wobbly during the field sobriety test.
Judging a demonstration by it’s most violent participants but NOT judging a police force by it’s most violent cops is the language of the oppressor.
