A federal judge on Thursday blocked a California law requiring background checks for people buying ammunition, issuing a sharply worded rebuke of “onerous and convoluted” regulations that violate the constitutional right to bear arms.
U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez in San Diego ruled in favor of the California Rifle & Pistol Association, which asked him to stop the checks and related restrictions on ammo sales.
“The experiment has been tried. The casualties have been counted. California’s new ammunition background check law misfires and the Second Amendment rights of California citizens have been gravely injured,” Benitez wrote in a 120-page opinion granting the group’s motion for a preliminary injunction.
“Criminals, tyrants, and terrorists don’t do background checks,” he wrote. “The background check experiment defies common sense while unduly and severely burdening the Second Amendment rights of every responsible, gun-owning citizen desiring to lawfully buy ammunition.”
While it is intended to keep ammunition from criminals, it blocked sales to legitimate, law-abiding buyers about 16% of the time, he wrote. Moreover, he ruled that the state’s ban on importing ammunition from outside California violates federal interstate commerce laws.

VERDICT: False. Trump was speaking generally about new information about sunlight, heat, and disinfectant killing the virus.
President Trump is being quoted out of context — as usual — by left-wingers on social media who are accusing him of suggesting injecting people with disinfectant as a way of curing coronavirus infections.
Trump used the word “inject,” but what he meant was using a process — which he left “medical doctors” to define — in which patients’ lungs might be cleared of the virus, given new knowledge about its response to light and other factors.
Earlier in the briefing, Dr. Bill Bryant, leader of the Science and Technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security, described the results of new government research that showed that the coronavirus did not survive long in solar light, warmer temperatures, and more humid conditions. He added that disinfectants had also been effective against it.
Trump, responding to that, noted that there had been discussions of testing ultraviolet light on patients, or of methods to bring light inside the body. “And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it [the virus] out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside, or almost a cleaning, cause you see it gets in the lungs.”
At no time did Trump actually propose injecting patients with disinfectant; he deferred to “medical doctors” to figure out how to apply Dr. Bryant’s research.
When ABC News’ Jonathan Karl asked Dr. Bryant about whether the president had proposed injecting a person with “bleach and isopropyl alcohol” later, Trump clarified that “It wouldn’t be through injection,” and that he was talking about “cleaning, sterilization of an area,” and about applying the disinfectant to “a stationary object.
Apparently there is no accusation too crazy for Trump’s critics to believe.

I’m afraid that I’m going to have to be mad at Trump for leading me down the rabbit hole of trying to understand exactly what a ‘disinfectant’ is (answer: it’s complicated), how they actually work (answer: it’s complicated), how those reactions might be used internally (answer: it actually does happen).
There is a certain irony in that after all this time and money, the answer for a virus is social isolation and soap ‘n water. A doctor in the Roman Army could have told you that. It’s a crying shame that both of those things appear to be in short supply in NYC.

As moi has posted here before, the CDC’s recommendation for homemade disinfectant is one 1/4 cup of bleach to a gallon of water. I use a stronger version of a cup plus of bleach rubbed on the hands, wrists, nape of the neck, and top of the ears before and after removing poison oak by hand. My other recipe for disinfectant is liquid soap/lotion mixed with a good dose of rubbing alcohol, as taken off the label of retail hand disinfectant.
An important note is too use good strong bleach lie Clorox…always. If you use bargain brand watered down bleach, make a stronger ratio of bleach to water.
I noticed the Dollar General had bigger bottles (quart size) of 91% isopropyl alcohol near the front. I grabbed a bottle to add to the first aide hunker down kit. Ain’t no different that alcohol wipes medical personnel use.
With all that said, I need to add a very important DISCLAIMER. Clorox bleach or Isopropyl alcohol is for external use only, as well as fish tank cleaner with phosphate. Only stupid or drunk people or stupid drunk people would use Pine-Sol as mouth wash or to cure a belly ache.
I reckon I need another DISCLAIMER. As with household non-green cleaning products, one should not eat poison oak when it actively growing as well.
