That gun thing in Virginia is really heating up. Looking for crime where crime is seems practical, but political advantage is found wherever it can be extracted. Bloomberg is gonna get hammered with racist hullabaloo whether it’s deserved or not.
When dealing with the modern Left, the other Lesson of Trump (the first being the now disclosed presence of the real center of power in Washington) is simply to never apologize. Mini Mike might brazen his way through stop ‘n frisk, but apologizing merely implies being torn to shreds by the crowd.
It’s the inherent weakness of the Left I guess. Each group making up that coalition has it’s own set of nonnegotiable demands and they ain’t the same. Scrabbling over the carcass of the West is a likely result as they each try to slice off their special tasty piece.

“Anyone who has thought about identity politics—the great intellectual disorder of our age—must conclude that the term obfuscates more than it illuminates. I’ll add a slight addendum to that. For a successful oppression-based group, you need to find a subset of the oppressors (easy to spot in a crowd) and get them firmly in your court. Dunno why you can always find some straight white males, often gracile, to loudly proclaim their oppressorhood, it’s an oddity of the age. Guys like the ever-embarrassing Tim Wise spontaneously come out of the population while the likelihood of a La Razan marching for transsexuals is pretty darned low.
In the past, I just guessed that obsequiously progressive dudes were simply on pussy patrol, but it appears more common now. Perhaps an epidemiologist could explain it all.
The irony is high that you need white males to work for your victim group in order for it to be generally recognized. I guess it’s no different from the message given by those Bernie protesters that women have to take off their clothes to be noticed. Kinda makes it hard for our local political harpies.

,,,EL PASO, Texas – Smugglers in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, have engineered camouflage hook-and-ladders made of rebar that blend in so well with the border wall that it can be hard to detect, according to U.S. Border Patrol. The ladders are the same rust brown color as the mesh panels or steel beams of the fence.
El Paso’s urban stretch of border is littered with the rusted rebar ladders at the base on both sides — ladders lying in wait on the Mexican side, ladders pulled down by border agents or abandoned by smugglers on the U.S. side. One of the rebar ladders was poking out of a dumpster in a lot near the Chihuahuita neighborhood on Thursday.
“Somebody is making money off those ladders,” said Agent Joe Romero, pointing to a mangled version tossed in the dirt on the U.S. side. “The agents pulled it off the wall and cut it up so it can’t be used again.”

Good Quotes today, almost too good for the Sandbox. :). The last quote is the best. I love that man.
Insight: “We who live in free market societies believe that growth, prosperity and ultimately human fulfillment, are created from the bottom up, not the government down. Only when the human spirit is allowed to invent and create, only when individuals are given a personal stake in deciding economic policies and benefitting from their success — only then can societies remain economically alive, dynamic, progressive, and free. Trust the people. This is the one irrefutable lesson of the entire postwar period contradicting the notion that rigid government controls are essential to economic development.” —Ronald Reagan
Observations: “I guess the logic of running Bloomberg against Bernie is that even the absolute worst person in the country who isn’t a socialist is still better than a socialist.” —Frank J. Fleming
Friendly fire: “Bloomberg must be the front-runner because liberals are calling him a racist. Keep booing. That’s how you lost the last election.” —HBO’s Bill Maher
The BIG Lie: “I had no intention of [tearing up Trump’s speech] when we went to the State of the Union. … I made a niche on a couple of pages thinking, ‘You ought to remember what was on this page, this page,’ then I realized most every page had something in it that was objectionable. So it wasn’t a planned thing. … It seems that if you want to [entice the] press you have to get attention. So I thought, ‘Well, let’s get attention on the fact that what he said here today was not true.’” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Grand delusions: “Trump is so scared of facing Biden in a general election that the president got himself impeached for trying to get a foreign leader to damage Biden’s campaign.” —political analyst Juan Williams
Dangerous territory: “There should be more guidance and regulation from the states on basically — take political advertising as an example — what discourse should be allowed. Or, on the balance of free expression and some things that people call harmful expression, where do you draw the line?” —Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg
Non compos mentis, part I: “It’s one thing to deplore eugenics on ideological, political, moral grounds. It’s quite another to conclude that it wouldn’t work in practice. Of course it would. It works for cows, horses, pigs, dogs & roses. Why on earth wouldn’t it work for humans? Facts ignore ideology.” —atheist Richard Dawkins
Non compos mentis, part II: “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Non-binary people are non-binary. All gender identities are valid.” —London Mayor Sadiq Khan
And last… “The strongest argument for socialism is that it sounds good. The strongest argument against socialism is that it doesn’t work. But those who live by words will always have a soft spot in their hearts for socialism because it sounds so good.” —Thomas Sowell

“Source: Democrat Senator Held Secret Meeting In Munich With Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif
Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and other Democratic senators had a secret meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the Munich Security Conference last week, according to a source briefed by the French delegation to the conference. Murphy’s office did not respond to repeated requests for comment by press time.
Such a meeting would mean Murphy had done the type of secret coordination with foreign leaders to potentially undermine the U.S. government that he accused Trump officials of doing as they prepared for Trump’s administration. In February 2017, Murphy demanded investigations of National Security Advisor Mike Flynn because he had a phone call with his counterpart-to-be in Russia”

That’s five probes going on right now.
‘Barr taps network of prosecutors to review Russia-Ukraine cases’
“Attorney General Bill Barr has tapped a growing number of federal prosecutors across the country to review high-profile Russia probes involving Trump associates and consider emerging allegations tied to Ukraine, in a bold but risky move that comes as he faces mounting criticism and even resignation calls from congressional Democrats who allege he’s protecting the president.
On Friday, Fox News reported that Barr appointed Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, to review the case of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Justice Department officials told Fox News Jensen would be working hand-in-hand with Brandon Van Grack, the lead prosecutor in the case. It marked the latest example of Barr bringing on a federal prosecutor to examine a politically charged case.“

Life In Hell
A young, ruthless executive died and went to hell. When he got there, he saw one sign that said Capitalist Hell, and another that said Socialist Hell.
In front of the Socialist Hell was an incredibly long line, while there was no-one in front of the Capitalist Hell. So the executive asked the guard, ”What do they do to you in Socialist Hell?”
You have to eat two shovels full of shit every morning and then you’re free to go about your day” the guard replied.
”And what do they do to you in Capitalist Hell?”
”Only one shovel full”, the guard answered.
”Then why is everybody in line for Socialist Hell?”
”Because in Socialist Hell, they’re always out of shit and somebody always forgets to bring the shovels.

We are supposedly living in the final, dystopian hours of Late Capitalism. And the wretched, miserable 99 percent will soon force radical change on an exhausted, corrupt system. But if true, what to make of the result of last night’s New Hampshire primary result, where the moderates beat the “big, structural change” progressives by some 20 percentage points? If Democratic primary voters aren’t ready for “democratic socialism” or whatever Bernieconomics really is, then who is?
Moreover, there’s all the recent polling data suggesting maybe we’re really not all that miserable and wretched. Gallup finds 59 percent of Americans agreeing they’re financially better off than they were a year ago, the highest such percentage on record. Likewise, CNN finds that 76 percent rate economic conditions in the US today as “very or somewhat good” — the highest share since 80 percent in February 2001. And another Gallup poll reports that nine in 10 Americans are “satisfied with the way things are going in their personal life,” a new high in the four decades that the firm has asked the question. And three–fourths of us expect tomorrow will be better than today.
