PaulE 1250pm – According to the Census Bureau there are about 230M eligible voters in the US. About 61% or 140M are registered to vote, and about 50% or 115M voted in 2018. So if a registered voter opinion poll cites a percentage point change in the population of registered voters, that means that about 1.4M Americans registered to vote have changed their minds.
https://www.census.gov/data/tables/time-series/demo/voting-and-registration/p20-583.html
Now consider that these polls bounce several percentage points this way and that between pollings, and this should convince even the mildly numerate of the futility of trying to read in too much predictability into the results of any one poll (see also post on Bryan Caplan). This is underlined when we see the election swing on the basis of a couple of million votes or fewer. When I see someone getting excited about any given political poll, I’m thinking that the same individual will probably get excited about looking at a TV screen full of ‘snow’.

Well, if the polls swing back down we can all connect the dots and declare matter of factly that Trump has no friends and the Republicans will block Trumpβs every move and Trump will resign. He will be gone in 60 days. Take that to the bank.
Remember those statements in the race to the WH in 2016 that Trump did not really want to be President and he would drop out soon. The Presidency would be too much work for Trump and the old tired man didnβt want the job and did not have the energy needed for such a position.

βThe case against Maddow is far stronger,β Wemple stated. βWhen small bits of news arose in favor of the dossier, the franchise MSNBC host pumped air into them. She seemed to be rooting for the document.β

Thar be trouble in dem thar numbers –
To win national elections, and many statewide races, progressives require a supermajority of Black voters. As someone who works on college campuses all year long, I know only too well that what is true with younger voters is also true with the black community: We donβt need to win a majority; we simply need to lose by less.
And in his less than three years in office, hereβs what the president can include in his pitch to Black America:
Passed the First Step Act, a bill which disproportionately impacts Black and minority populations
Enacted economic policies which have reduced the unemployment rate for Blacks to 5.4%, the lowest level since the measure has been followed
Signed an Executive Order moving Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) under the direct supervision of the White House so that funding and support becomes a national priority
Created Economic Opportunity Zones, which incentivize long-term capital investment in low-income, often urban, communities
These are signature accomplishments, but even more could be done under this president if the Democrat Party, which pretends to care about the black community, would focus on working with the president instead of trying to remove him.
An example would be the new USMCA trade deal that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reluctantly was forced to approve in the House. This type of trade deal will only further improve life for laborers, agricultural workers, and hourly employees. And when employment tightens within this sector of the workforce, wages go up, which they have been faster than any other income bracket under President Trump. USMCA will accelerate this trend even more. (Next up should be school choice for black kids, but Iβll leave that for another article).
Two recent polls, one from perhaps an expected source, Rasmussen, and another from a very unexpected one, Emerson College, both put black support for Trump at or above 34 percent.
In 2016, President Trump received only 8% of the Black vote. While it is unrealistic to imagine he will win the 34% these recent polls indicated, it is just as unrealistic to imagine he will not significantly increase his vote share in 2020.
Even if this number is closer to 20 percent come election time, it would represent a tectonic shift in American politics, and it would come despite the best efforts of the mainstream media and the entertainment world trying to tell black Americans that the president is a racist.
The truth, however, is that President Trump is for all Americans, and people of all backgrounds are starting to notice.

The knives are out in socialist dem clown car and there will be blood. Who benefits most from that? – https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/475972-democrats-brace-for-bloody-primary-season
βIt shouldnβt be a surprise you are seeing two progressives and two moderates vying for the top spot,β he said, adding that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also a wild card in the primary race. βWhat is the most interesting factor here is that voters are somewhat interchangeable between Biden and Sanders, as they are between Mayor Pete and Sen. Warren.β
βIβd argue it is still a jump ball in every way, and that makes the race to be the Democratic nominee extremely exciting,β Trujillo added.
While the overall field of candidates has shrunk in recent months, it has also seen some late additions, with Bloomberg and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) entering the race, worried Democrats were ill-equipped to defeat Trump.
The Democratic strategist who predicted the primary would be a βbloody slugfestβ said this election cycle is reminiscent of 2016, when former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sanders were locked in a bitter battle for the Democratic nomination. Clinton emerged the winner, but βshe was damaged from the primary,β the strategist said.
βAnd anyone who says Sanders didnβt hurt her has their head in the clouds,β the strategist said. This time around, a brokered convention βcould only add further division at a time when we need [unity] most. Itβs a bit of a nightmare situation.β

βNeedless to say, it’s a good thing that the 63 million Americans who voted for Trump in the last presidential cycle didn’t listen to the “experts” — or the bottomless pit of naysayers in the media — whose predictions about the economy and other topics proved worthless.
After all, these are some of the same “experts” who told us Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 election, Brexit wouldn’t happen, and that Trump and his 2016 campaign colluded with Russia, a conspiracy theory that’s since been debunked by multiple congressional and Department of Justice investigations including a 22-month special counsel probe that found no such evidence.
Bottom line: With the 2020 election approaching, the American people should continue to trust their own instincts, pay stubs and 401(k)s, rather than the “experts.” That’s a far more reliable barometer, wouldn’t you say?β

βYesterday in part 5 Wemple put MSNBCβs Rachel Maddow under the microscope. Maddow not only touted the veracity of the Steele Dossier, she has failed to entrust her viewers with news of the beating Horowitz administered to it in the IG report earlier this month. The disgrace of the dossier will come as a great shock to viewers who get their news from Maddow β some day. At the conclusion of his analysis, Wemple reports that βMaddow declined to provide an on-the-record response to the Erik Wemple Blog.β
βIn light of the Horowitz report, we can see that Trump had it right and the FBI had it wrong β along with the Postβs anonymous sources insofar as they sought to prop up the credibility of Steele and the Steele Dossier. Wemple could deepen his series with a look at that Post story, among othersβ

“(CNN)Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has blasted his Republican counterpart Mitch McConnell in recent days after he described himself as “not an impartial juror” ahead of President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial, but Schumer himself repeatedly expressed similar sentiments in the late 1990s when senators weighed the removal of President Bill Clinton.
But in several appearances on television in 1998 and 1999 reviewed by CNN’s KFile, Schumer noted that senators had previously formed opinions heading into the trial and that the Senate was “not like a jury box.” Schumer was elected to the Senate in 1998 after saying during his campaign that a vote for him would be a vote to not impeach Clinton.”

This sounds like a gathering of the Circle of Jerks!! Things are going to get rough when Trump loses the election.
Speakers at the event whipped the crowd into a frenzy of hate by portraying Democrats as an existential threat to their future.

These sentiments clearly were taken seriously by at least some in attendance.
