[Now that the impeachment kabuki has ended, the Senate trial will begin.  But before that can proceed, Pelosi will try to squeeze some more preconditions out of McConnell before forwarding the House’s articles of impeachment.  The cynical humor of the whole process goes on with Democrats continuing to accuse Republicans of unfairness along every step of the way, paying no never mind to having conducted the most blatantly partisan, unfair, and corrupt congressional circus in Congress’s long history.  But the real story is again the ever-widening chasm between what now clearly are two Americas attempting to share the same government and territory while holding diametrically opposite worldviews and objectives.  gjr]

New Yorker Editor: ‘Future of the Earth’ Hangs on Trump’s Impeachment
    ——-
    Bad Mainstream Media, Bad!
“Joy Reid Show Kvetches: Media See Impeachment Through Republican Eyes!”
    Blah blah blah
Whatever tenuous grasp on reality that Joy Reid and her regulars ever enjoyed seems, sadly, to have been lost. Some sort of mass psychosis seems to have gripped the gang. The delusions were on full display on Reid’s MSNBC show this morning as Joy and her guests went full Alice in Wonderland. They actually asserted, in a discussion of the impeachment of President Trump, that:
The media sees impeachment “through Republican eyes.”
    The media “worships Republican hardball.”
“Members of the MSM tend to identify more with the Republican base than with Democrat voters.
It’s wrong to report Republican vs. Democrat arguments on impeachment because it’s “lies vs. truth, patriotism vs. traitors.”
It is “dangerous” and “racist” to interview Trump supporters.
The media has treated impeachment negatively because the media are opposed to “change.” [Obama 2008? Hope and change? Hello?]
Geeze, where did I get that crazy notion to the contrary. I must be a conspiracy theorist.

“Bolton’s Doctrine Is Back, As Kim Readies Missiles”
Mr. Bolton has long advocated regime change in North Korea. His detractors counter that too much pressure risks hard pushback: If Mr. Kim fears the loss of his throne, he’d likely go ballistic and try to destroy Seoul, Tokyo, Seattle or all of the above.
Mr. Kim, though, won’t risk total annihilation of his country and his regime. America’s best option, therefore, is to ratchet up the pressure, do all we can to undermine Mr. Kim’s power and then give him the option: Negotiate seriously or lose it all.
If the tyrant becomes so discredited that North Koreans or their Chinese neighbors have no choice but to push him out of power, well, who’d miss him?

“A bastion of liberalism in the federal judiciary is slowly turning rightward, threatening Democratic court challenges on everything from abortion to who gets a green card.
The Senate confirmation of Lawrence VanDyke and Patrick Bumatay to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this month brought to nine the number of appointments President Donald Trump has made to the 29-member bench that serves as the last stop for nearly all legal complaints lodged in nine Western states. Democratic-appointed judges now hold a three-seat majority, compared with 11 at the start of Trump’s presidency.”

Funny you would expect the Dark Lord of Liberal Lament Land to go full FUE on those racist posts, but wait they were from an ignorant left wing troll so that must make it ok. ROFLOL

    We are truly blessed –
With the end 2019 only days away, it’s natural we look back at all that has transpired, both “highs” and “lows.” We do this in our personal and work lives, and, as a nation, we should do this on critical issues. Like energy.
What happened in 2019 in terms of energy production?
The highs: America in 2019, for the first time in 70 years, became an exporter of oil. America is experiencing an energy boom. We lead the world in oil and natural gas production, creating thousands of high-paying jobs all across rural America. Our energy revolution, and particularly advancements in fracking, has created over four million new jobs. A report by the Heartland Institute concludes that, without fracking, our natural gas prices would be 28 percent higher today. That’s a pretty high heating bill for many American households.
Abundant, inexpensive, domestic, reliable energy is reflected in the cost of business, manufacturing, farming and industry, which translates into our economy charging ahead with the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years and wages rising for the first time in nearly a decade. Energy helps make America great. Again.
The lows: every Democratic presidential candidate opposes fracking. Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders claim they would ban it by executive order on their first day in office. Though such campaign promises are met by applause from the left-leaning audience, four million energy workers should shudder. Four million paychecks supporting God knows how many more family members, spouses, elderly parents, tithing to churches, paying the kids’ Little League fees and swimming lessons … banned? On your first day in office?

One ruling from the crazy 9TH Dougy is so proud of.(Pre Trump appointees)
“The Unsafe Handgun Act is just as problematic as it sounds.
For one thing, to quote the majority opinion: “According to the [plaintiffs], no handguns were available in the United States that met the microstamping requirements. The record does not indicate whether and how these figures have changed over time.” (Emphasis added.) That means California was granting consumers permission to buy guns that didn’t exist on the market.”

    lol. Wait. Whut?
Isn’t that 70% of US natural gas production?
I’d worry less about a few million gas field workers and more a collapse of the economy.
Hang on, I’ll look it up. No problemo. A cu ft of natural gas is about 300 watt hours of electricity equivalent. 21 trillion cubic feet per year generated. I figger that a couple of hundred solar panels up by the Rood Center should do it.
Of course, crashing and burning the economy isn’t as important as a stripper girlfriend, so there is that.

The global warming luddite set has never been any good at predicting anything –
Let nobody tell you that the second decade of the 21st century has been a bad time. We are living through the greatest improvement in human living standards in history. Extreme poverty has fallen below 10 percent of the world’s population for the first time. It was 60 percent when I was born. Global inequality has been plunging as Africa and Asia experience faster economic growth than Europe and North America; child mortality has fallen to record low levels; famine virtually went extinct; malaria, polio and heart disease are all in decline.
Little of this made the news, because good news is no news.
Since its inception, the environmental movement has been obsessed by finite resources. The two books that kicked off the green industry in the early 1970s, The Limits to Growth in America and Blueprint for Survival in Britain, both lamented the imminent exhaustion of metals, minerals and fuels. The Limits to Growth predicted that if growth continued, the world would run out of gold, mercury, silver, tin, zinc, copper and lead well before 2000. School textbooks soon echoed these claims.
This caused the economist Julian Simon to challenge the ecologist Paul Ehrlich to a bet that a basket of five metals (chosen by Ehrlich) would cost less in 1990 than in 1980. The Stone Age did not end for lack of stone, Simon said, arguing that we would find substitutes if metals grew scarce. Simon won the bet easily, although Ehrlich wrote the check with reluctance, sniping that ‘the one thing we’ll never run out of is imbeciles’. To this day none of those metals has significantly risen in price or fallen in volume of reserves, let alone run out. (One of my treasured possessions is the Julian Simon award I won in 2012, made from the five metals.)
A modern irony is that many green policies advocated now would actually reverse the trend towards using less stuff. A wind farm requires far more concrete and steel than an equivalent system based on gas. Environmental opposition to nuclear power has hindered the generating system that needs the least land, least fuel and least steel or concrete per megawatt. Burning wood instead of coal in power stations means the exploitation of more land, the eviction of more woodpeckers — and even higher emissions. Organic farming uses more land than conventional. Technology has put us on a path to a cleaner, greener planet.

    https://www.breitbart.com/local/2019/12/22/activist-group-plans-3-billion-city-solve-californias-homeless-problem/
An activist group is planning a $3 billion city that includes dorm-style accommodations, communal televisions, and underground tunnels to house California’s homeless.
Daune Nason, the founder of the activist group Citizens Again, announced Thursday his proposal for a city with an estimated $3 billion price tag decked out with amenities and services to serve 150,000 of California’s homeless.
In 2018, California’s homeless population reached nearly 130,000— about one-fourth of the national total, CBS Los Angeles reported.
According to a press release, the city would include dormitory-style sleeping quarters along with communal bathrooms and private showers.

“Qualified citizens”— those who meet as-yet undisclosed criteria— will be allowed to live in the city and are free to leave whenever they wish, says Nason, who adds, “Some might want to stay forever.”
Residents of this planned city would be provided wristbands to gain access to their dorms, as well as perform tasks such as job check-ins, medicine consumption, and buying items with credits.”
    And all done with OPM!
And just who is going to round up the ones here in Nevada County and haul them away? I can hear the bitching already.
