Am I wrong, or was it a bad move for NC to buy a bunch of that land? It seems to me that private property gives you a lot more latitude in moving transients. I suppose that the easiest solution would be for Nevada City to provide 100 or so apartments with free utilities for those folks and then clean up the hill. No problem.
Seriously, it’s a funny situation. So far as I can tell it’s a smart move to avoid growing, and even shrink, public property in order to avoid homeless issues and their legal write to squat.
Maybe our local Team Blue can pipe up with mechanisms to avoid burning down the whole region with warming fires.

Democrats really don’t like America and think it’s time to move on from the culture that got us here.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 38% of Likely Democratic Voters believe American society is generally fair and decent. Fifty-one percent (51%) say it’s unfair and discriminatory.
By comparison, 74% of Republicans and unaffiliated voters by a 49% to 36% margin view American society as fair and decent.
That sums it up pretty well. If you hate your country, there is a party for you! You are a Democrat. If you love your country, you have only one plausible home: you are a Republican. Never has this difference been so stark. In 2020, pro-Americans will vote for President Trump and the Republican Party. Anti-Americans will vote for the Democratic nominee, whatever goofball that may prove to be, and socialism, the most disastrous system ever devised.

A fundamental tenet of Rebane Doctrine has been that the Left and the Democratic Party have become the virulent anti-American political faction in the land. There is very little about our country and its history that they can tolerate, and there is nothing about its unique history and embracing culture that they want to communicate to our young. “However, rather than seeking to redeem humanity in the “next life,” sustainability promises to stave off the end times and save sinners in the “here and now.”
Some episodes have emphasized the climate cult’s resemblance to neo-paganism. Sumantra Maitra at The Federalist pointed to an event at Union Theological Seminary in New York City where students confessed their sins to plants. Maitra argued that this means climate activists are “pagan animists.” In other words, they believe that worshipping nature enables one to “grow as a living soul connected to the universe.”
Maitra also highlighted a gathering at the Glarus Alps where 250 Swedes hosted a funeral to mourn a melting glacier. And Martha Sheen at The Irish Times identified shades of paganism in the climate gospel’s code of how to live, which prescribes “ritualistic sacrifices” like abstaining from meat to “satisfy the gods.”
“Maitra and Sheen noted that, as opposed to Christians, Jews, and Muslims, who worship a personal creator that engages humanity from without space and time, neo-pagans worship Earth and other created things.
The emergence of pagan themes in climate activist circles is part of a trend away from Judeo-Christian-based faiths and toward religions like Wicca, which has surged in popularity among millennials, the demographic that worries most about climate change.
Wiccans aren’t the only neo-pagan sect. “Druids, Goddess worshipers, Heathens, and Shamans” count too. And although neo-pagan beliefs vary, historian Ronald Hutton of Bristol University has said that neo-pagans practice “forms of worship which regard nature as sacred.”
Some worship inanimate objects such as “trees, plants, and animals” to glorify the “soul” of each. Pre-Christian Celts, for example, worshipped the River Boyne in Ireland as Boann, the “Celtic Goddess of Poetry, Fertility, Inspiration, Knowledge, and Creativity,” to quote one feminist writer. Almost all pagans consult an astrology guru and play with tarot cards.
Neo-pagans form a small segment of Americans, but their ideas have permeated elites. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in March indulged fans who obsessed over what her time of birth and horoscope meant for the future of the republic. In response to “fervent public interest,” she allowed astrologer Arthur Lipp-Bonewits to tweet the information.
Singer and climate crisis believer Lana Del Ray described herself in 2017 as a “witch” and said she hexed President Donald Trump. She bade her Twitter followers do the same, directing them to “bind” the president on dates that “corresponded to monthly waning crescent moons.”

Oh, I listened to Kent’s opening statement (some of it) about his and his daddy’s stellar resume of public service. When Kent started comparing the Ukrainians fight for freedom with out Revolutionary War and how we had to have the help of a foreign power (Lafayette) to win our freedom from our adversary just as the Ukrainians need our military aid to win their independence from Russia, I turned it off. Why? Why did I turn it off, you may ask?
Glad you asked! Because Kent lined out our foreign policy in regards to Ukraine for the past 8 years of so. Total hogwash. Obama (and Kent under him) sent the Ukrainians blankets. The Ukrainians were begging Washington to send them military aid. Literally desperately begging the Obama Administration for armor and hardware to fight the Russians. All they got was blankets and advisors. Yeah, compare that to the Revolutionary War, ROFLMAO.
Trump sent them the military aid they requested under Ukraine’s last Presidente and that which Obama refused because 0bama (Zerobama) was afraid to upset the Russians . Oh course Trump told both Presidents he was pissed that our (and their) European allies were not helping out and the US was stuck paying the whole tab for Ukraine’s military defense against the Russians. Also, Trump told both Presidents that the corruption was a problem.
Bottomline: Multiple witnesses of experts and Deep State Department bigwigs in the closed door sessions in Shiftylipps basement admitted under oath that Trump’s policy concerning Ukraine is better than Obama’s policy and has helped reached their objectives. Mo better. Much mo better.
Revolutionary War? Body armor? No, they needed much more than blankets. They needed what Trump sent them and they need more. Things that actually kill Russian tanks and has thwarted a Russian ground encroachment since Trump first sent them Javelins. And they got more. Again, mo better.
That, my ignorant friends of the Shift Show, is why I am not going to breathlessly watch the circus and simply wait for the Senate hearings to hear both sides of the story. If those are the first and best witnesses paraded out today, then the Dems don’t have Jack Diddley. They do, however, have Diddley Squat.

PaulE 1222pm – Of course Paul. One of the main staves of the Dems’ impeach platform is to prove that Trump’s Ukraine policy has been against US national interest because it weakened our ally Ukraine. The facts show that to be blatantly false. Trump is the first president to provide Ukraine with real military aid with which to counter Russian aggression. Obama did nothing of the sort, and therefore did weaken our ally in the face of the Russian onslaught. In short, that’s another argument of the Dems that can’t join their desperate list of impeachable offenses.

Schiff and his cabal on the committee were trying to make hay that Trump was placing Ukraine at risk by the 55-day delay in one year’s taxpayer largesse to them. Not looking for a gotcha just interested in your core beliefs in this matter. Personally I believe if Trump was trying to hold up funding for Ukraine defense for his own personal gain-in this case dirt on Biden-he would be unfit for office amd should be impeached.
Just a reminder that it was the Republicans who impeached Clinton for far less an offense.

Personally, I think Paul is off his rocker; another interpretation is that Trump asked for an investigation into corruption in Ukraine as a precursor to military air because, on the face of it, the Bidens stink of corrupt intent.

Clinton was impeached for perjury in a civil action taken by a subordinate of his in Arkansas. The lie was to hide the fact that he had a subordinate polishing his pole in the Oval Orificei. Perjury is a real crime.
He also lost his ability to practice law in the aftermath, but the judge, a Clinton appointee, gave him a break by not disbarring him until after the Senate decided not to remove him from office.
