   A group of scientists studying evidence preserved in cave formations have found that sea level was as much as 52 feet higher than the present day more than 3 million years ago.
   The researchers were particularly interested in a time during Pliocene known as the mid-Piacenzian Warm Period, which was some 3 million years ago.
   “The interval also marks the last time the Earth’s atmospheric CO2 was as high as today, providing important clues about what the future holds in the face of current anthropogenic warming,” Onac said.

   Chinese and Vietnamese coast guard vessels are engaged in a high-profile standoff over a lucrative oil block claimed by Vietnam near its coast. The U.S. last week criticized China’s move to send a survey ship off Vietnam as “an escalation by Beijing in its efforts to intimidate other claimants out of developing resources in the South China Sea.”
   The State Department accused China of blocking Southeast Asian nations from accessing an estimated $2.5 trillion in unexploited hydrocarbon resources. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison last week urged Asian countries to stand up for their sovereign rights during a trip to Hanoi.
   China accused the U.S. of trying to drive a wedge between China and other countries and create “chaos” in the region.
   In recent months, Beijing has stepped up efforts to pursue administrative control within its so-called “nine-dash line” encompassing some 80% of the South China Sea. Its recent actions openly challenge a Hague Tribunal ruling that declared the territory claim illegal three years ago.
   The three European countries called on claimants to respect that ruling, urging China and Asean countries to come to terms on a code of conduct in the South China Sea.

   A source said that CNN benched him and prevented him from appearing on CNN for disputing the mainstream media “very fine people hoax.”

    We have a system of LEGAL immigration. You are talking about illegals. Sure we are all related over time to those that came before. Native people came from Siberia so no one is immune from that fact. But if we want to have a country we must have borders and they need to be honored. Otherwise we are doomed.     Sanders is currently in a close battle with Warren for second place nationally. Real Clear Politics shows the Vermont senator holding a slight edge over Warren, besting her by .6 percent.

    DonB 608pm – Agreed. The Europeans who expect their mid-eastern new immigrants to assimilate and become productive are definitely consuming illegal substances. Those who arrived at Europe’s gates overwhelmingly come from cultures that 1) have markedly different social contracts from the Europeans, and 2) almost certainly were never engaged in any productive or socially beneficial enterprise in their native countries. To expect them to change now that they are finally secure and succored, is the height of idiocy.

    On a side note and I need to hear some real commentary. What is causing people to shoot up places? Taking guns from law abiding citizens treats a symptom but not the real problem
