   As previously stated, the gun bill that passed the House in March would not have spared Gabby from getting plugged. Her shooter would have passed the background check she so diligently promoted.
   This refusal to state the obvious that the shooters bear all the blame is ludicrous. The need to blame anyone but the shooter and put all the blame on something else is a phenomenon of human nature. Maybe it is a need to understand evil. To try to make sense of it all.
   Oh, we can try to understand. But can any of us ever understand the dark evil that some possess in their minds? Their souls? Within themselves? Can you really wrap your head around pure evil? Pure evil? I hope not. I will go out on a limb and say nobody really can. In a large nation of 330 million people, it is beyond certain that there are a few walking around carrying Pure Evil in their beings….an evil we can only try to understand but not really comprehend.
   I don’t buy into any imaginable scenario that Trump is in any way responsible for the shooters actions. No even a possibility. Absurd. Unless, of course, you want to blame all the mass shootings in the last 30 years on someone besides the shooter. Obama is to blame for a single one? Nonsense. Actually, saying Trump is responsible for this in any way, shape, or form is shameful. You have to tell yourself some big whoopers to try to believe that fish story. But, you can’t shame the Lefty sociopaths. Some are psychopaths. They all, with few exceptions, are some fucked up people. The depths of their depravity knows no bounds. Maybe they can relate to the mass murderers where we cannot.
   We know so little about the human brain. Brain mapping currently can not tell us where evil resides nor where good resides. Anti-bullying campaigns, red flag warnings, more money towards mental illness will help. Most who are prone to violence and fit the profile will never be involved with murder, not to mention taking a rifle and go hunting for humans downtown or at the mall.
   States can pass some cosmetic laws, mess with waiting limits and background checks, but at the end of the day nothing will really change. Not really.
   Anybody want to talk about Dayton? Or, have we removed beyond that all ready. Gilroy? The kids are selling lemonade on the sidewalks to raise money for the victims. Even the mayor. They suspended the no lemonade stand ban and homemade signs are popping up in front yards. Pulling together.
   We cannot even have a discussion of solutions to mass shootings as long as it’s all Trump’s fault and Trump is a racist and now, like clockwork, all gun owners are BAD. I can see and smell and feel the daggers in their eyes glaring at ALL gun owners with anger. Beyond contempt. Seething glares. It’s all our fault. We got caught up in their net again.

   Look. You have an argument you cannot defend. There are 40 year long studies by the likes of the Atlantic and hundreds more that show without a doubt that kids raised in single parent homes are at a disadvantage. Whites, blacks, all across the board. More likely to dropout of high school, involved in crime, have bad relationships themselves, drugs, incarcerated, likely to be on welfare themselves, etc. Girls are more likely to get knocked up earlier and on and on it goes. Education levels. There is not one measure that is even close to saying that having a two parent household makes no difference.
   With that said, here is another fact. Nobody can parent like the mother. Her touch, caring, nurturing, words, devotion…it’s in her DNA. The mother does it better and puts in more time.
   Now the unfair part, which is no reflection on the single mom or mom: Nobody can parent like the mothers, but the father has more influence on the child. I know, it’s not fair. Dad’s have more influence on the kids lives going and continues into adulthood….but the mothers do it better. Even deadbeat dads have an influence.

Can’t get traction with getting people to vote for them of their own merits, so it’s always trying to get people to vote against the other guy. They reach back for their old standby without a second thought and hurl the epithet “racist” like they are on zombies on autopilot. But we know better.
    I was thinking that the word racism is getting so overused and twisted into a pretzel that maybe we should go back to “prejudice” for a while for a refreshing break and keep things from getting stale. Opps, too late. It’s beyond stale. It’s almost petrified. What is needed here is like when NFL teams wear throwback jerseys for a game. Variety is the spice of live, and boy do the Leftinistas need something different than racist. How about Prejudice Thursdays or maybe the last week of every month. They already blew through fascist and beat that one into dust. That was quick. But, it’s still all gets old.

    They have to be enforced. It’s not the total answer but it’s a start. No more military weapons is the first step. You don’t need automatic weapons to hunt rabbits or protect your home. Create a buyback program with a time limit then strict enforcement.

    Perhaps another Nevada City Townhall meeting is in order. That will solve everything! Maybe put up signs around town declaring the village a gun free zone.
    Buck went to Baltimore and hung out for a day. He also once spent one day a week in Baltimore doing analytical research for the Feds. So, while in Baltimore a few days ago, he asked out of curiosity if he, a man trained in firearm safety and handgun use by the CIA, could get a concealed carry permit. The LE looked at him like he was from another planet and said, “No way.” Strict gun control applies only to law abiding citizens. They are the ones who follow the law. Rules do not apply to criminals….the target of gun control laws. And thus it has always been.

    PaulE 928am – So what is wrong with attempting to enforce existing gun laws before adding more unenforceable laws. Also, consider that the overwhelming number of gun casualties don’t involve ‘military style’ weapons. Also consider that “automatic weapons” are already outlawed. Also consider that the Second Amendment was not added to provide for “rabbit hunting and protecting your home”, in those saner days, that was already a given for having firearms.
    And I propose more widespread firearms familiarization and safety education. In days of old the country was full of gun clubs, hunting clubs, Boy and Girl Scout gun programs, many schools had indoor ranges, … – the possession and use of firearms was a normal American activity that was not connected with mass shootings. (Today our Sportsmens Club still provides youth firearms education programs through FFA and 4H.) As with automobiles, none of these remedies will completely eliminate accidental gun deaths – those tragedies will still be the cost of maintaining our freedoms. These factors, unfortunately, are not in your ken, no matter how many times we circle this barn. Great Divide.

    Punch, “it’s a start” is what was said when the National Firearms Act regulated automatic weapons out of existence in California. That was 1938.
    Let’s start with your version of “the total answer”. Batter up. To be honest, you’ll need to have repealing the 2nd amendment as a step.

    Well, if you are talking about “Do something!”, then do something. Schedule another Townhall meeting.
    One of those things that stick. Old interview with Morgan Freeman by Don Lemon. Topic was school shootings. Morgan grew up in the South and said everybody had guns. He shoot his rifle after school like all the teenagers did. Nobody shot anybody. Nobody shoot up the schools. When Lemon asked him what has changed, Mr. Freeman said, “Value of life. We don’t value life.” Our culture today does not value lifelike it once did. And that is a problem “Do Something!” won’t solve.
    The El Paso shooter is 21 years old. No life experience, no friends, no social life. Spent his time on far alt right sites and got angry. But, forget the manifesto. That was all BS. Just a justification. He had a more important goal. He wanted to die. His goal was to die. You have a 21 year old kid who wants to die. No hope. No context. Laws won’t stop someone who determined to die rather than live. Red flag laws won’t stop someone who is determined and values neither his own life or the lives of others. He was too much of a coward to take his own life in the end.
    The Dayton shooter walked down the sidewalk right past cops moments before he opened fire. 24 years old. He shot his own sister. His little sis.
