Sorry George. Your sense of “nuance” is a bit prickly.
There is ample evidence that the Russians attempted to interfere but no evidence that they did? Okay, that lets them off the hook. By your lights Mr. Cross is absolutely off his rocker for asserting that they interfered. Black and white. Again. Exhibit A.
“there is no evidence of Russia having interfered in the 2016 election (while there is ample evidence that they attempted interference in that and all previous elections)”

Walt 259pm – The Left’s entire vitriolic narrative against Trump would collapse if they ever acknowledged what everyone (save their compliant minions) knows – all nations with appropriate resources have always and still continue today to affect the elections and politics of other nations in ways that serve their national interests. To their double dummies, the Left’s elites have successfully preached that only Russia attempted such “interference”, and only with Trump’s help. As we can all see, it worked.

Jiggly – “There is ample evidence that the Russians attempted to interfere but no evidence that they did?”
An attempt is not the same as an accomplishment.
Without any action on the part of the Russian govt, Trump still wins. The documented actions of the Russians had no effect on our election of the Donald.
The left cannot wrap their pea brains around what is illegal and what is not.
Anyway, Obama was pres when all of this happened so it must be Obama that colluded with the Russians.
When will he be investigated?

At first I was puzzled by this sudden rehashing of Trump colluding with the Russians out of the blue. Not just on this site. It’s like they all woke up and the popinjays started repeating the mantra that the only reason Trump won was directly due to Trump and Putin teaming up to steal the election from Hillary. It’s like the attack of the Zombies. Thus we find ourselves back to the ole Trump is a illegitimate President and the Russian Collusion Delusion Great Hoax.
Since such things do not happened in a vacuum and are always coordinated, I have to ask why now? It’s it Trump’s trip to the G-20? Is it a deflection from the horrible clown car Show &Tell Beauty Pageant we witnessed the last couple of evenings? Even Morning Joe hoped nobody watched the Dem Circus with the Beauty Contestants falling off the stage. Painful. It was a wish and prayer sent up by Morning Joe. One can always hope. Why now? It’s it the monthly cycle? Is it that wack job lady who accused Trump of rape among the lingerie boxes in the 90’s?
Ours is not to wonder why, ours is to do or die.
I would like to know the extent of the Russian influence on our elections, myself. A reasonable request. The Mueller Report said no American was involved. Ok. I cannot even tell you if the Russians hacked John Podesta’s computers. The HRC campaign refused the FBI access to their computers. Bummer. I suppose the FBI could have sought and obtained a warrant to access the server. But, noooo. Looks like that question will never be answered.
Yes, the Mueller Report was not complete, IMHO. The Report spent 8-9 pages on the Tower meeting with the Russian lawyer, leaving the impression the Russian lawyer was a no good rotten person. But, the Mueller Report omitted the fact that the no good horrible Russian lawyer was also a client of Fusion GPS and had previous friendly relations with the Clinton circle. Known to the Clintons, for sure.
Guess we will be rehashing the 2016 election again in the months to come. First the IG report. I do not expect a lot from Horowitz’s report because the IG has no prosecutorial powers, no subpoena powers, can only talk to current employees of the FBI/DOJ and cannot compel witnesses to testify. But, he can dig deep into the paper trail. Then, the John Durham Investigation into the Russian Hoax and it’s seed money and first green sprouts. The origins. Is Putin that smart to snooker our best and brightest? Or, is it something else? FB posts don’t seem to carry much sway, but what do I know.
Still, it’s odd that one day, for not particular reason, the recycled “Trump is an illegitimate President” coupled with the Orange Man Penis News is making the rounds again. Strike that. There is always a reason. I suppose it’s that time of the month when Aunt Flo is visiting.

The President has our military’s backs in thought and deed –
An Iraq war veteran who was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Trump said Friday the experience was “unbelievable” and thanked the president for allowing him to include his team in the emotional ceremony.
Former U.S. Army Staff Sgt. David Bellavia is the first living Iraq war veteran to be given the prestigious honor after he saved his platoon during the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004, considered the bloodiest conflict for United States troops since the Vietnam War.
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Friday, Bellavia said it was “unbelievable” that he was given the Medal of Honor for his service.
“You feel awkward and uncomfortable,” he said, in regard to having the spotlight on him for his military valor. “But my commander-in-chief allowed me to bring my soldiers on that stage and that meant so much to them.
“That has never happened before in the Medal of Honor Ceremony, it’s about one person, and he allowed it to make it about the entire team,” Bellavia continued.

The esteemed Roberta has the backup. Yes, Trump won, but it was due to the antiquated Electoral College….something that has been used since George Washington was elected. :). Maybe we should take another look at the antiquated First Amendment. Our Founding Father’s thought the press was pen and quill and pamphleteers.
Jig’s accusations are reminiscent of a post he shared from Vox yesterday.
The theory behind the post was Obama voters went for Trump because of racism, not kitchen table issues. I only skimmed the link, but the word “plausible” jumped off the page like 10 foot letters. PLAUSIBLE. Then, I read the concluding paragraph and the word PLAUSIBLE appeared again. Proof that Trump won because of racism! It’s plausible. I suppose if it is plausible, then we it’s definitive we are all racists. No other explanation needed. That means I am a racist. That means Trump is a racist. It’s all back and white.
Of course, it was framed as Trump hating on “Mexican immigrants, not illegal immigrants, not MS -13 gang members, but Mexican immigrants. Talk about a broadbrush. It’s plausible.

Bellavia’s Silver Star citation, for heroism on Nov. 10, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq, reads like the script of an action movie. An infantryman with Company A, Task Force 2-2, 1st Infantry Division, Bellavia was ordered with his platoon to clear a 12-building block in which “jihadists” were taking shelter in order to fire on American troops, according to the citation.
After clearing the first nine buildings and finding only weapons caches, Bellavia and four other soldiers entered the tenth and found themselves under fire from insurgents. As more soldiers rushed in to reinforce the five, the close-quarters combat became hot and intense, and troops began to go down with injuries due to small-arms fire and debris.
“At this point, Sergeant Bellavia, armed with an M249 SAW gun, entered the room where the insurgents were located and sprayed the room with gunfire, forcing the Jihadists to take cover and allowing the squad to move out into the street,” the citation reads.
In the street, the soldiers came under fire from enemy fighters shooting from the building’s roof. As they took cover in an adjacent building, Bellavia went back into the street to call in a Bradley fighting vehicle to shell the structures. He then went back into the first building to see whether any insurgents remained alive, according to the citation.
He would find himself one man pitted against a house full of armed enemy fighters.
“I wanted that revenge. I wanted to be that leader that I promised I would be,” Bellavia later said about the fight, according to a 2016 Army release. “A light switch went off.”
He first encountered an insurgent with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and gunned him down.
“A second Jihadist began firing as the soldier ran toward the kitchen, and Bellavia fired back, wounding him in the shoulder,” the citation reads. “A third Jihadist began yelling from the second floor. Sergeant Bellavia then entered the uncleared master bedroom and emptied gunfire into all the corners, at which point the wounded insurgent entered the room, yelling and firing his weapon. Sergeant Bellavia fired back, killing the man.”
Bellavia continued fighting, killing the insurgent upstairs. Then, another insurgent jumped out of the wardrobe in the bedroom where he was hiding, and began “firing wildly around the room and knocking over the wardrobe.”
The insurgent was shot and wounded by Bellavia, but got away. As Bellavia tried to pursue him into the second floor of the building, the soldier slipped on stairs slick with blood. Regaining his footing and climbing the stairs, he threw a fragmentary grenade into the upper room, flushing the insurgent onto the roof.
“Hearing two other insurgents screaming from the third story of the building, Sergeant Bellavia put a choke hold on the wounded insurgent to keep him from giving away their position,” the citation reads. “The wounded Jihadist then bit Sergeant Bellavia on the arm and smacked him in the face with the butt of his AK-47. In the wild scuffle that followed, Sergeant Bellavia took out his knife and slit the Jihadist’s throat.”
He would continue to fight and fell insurgents until he was joined by five other members of the platoon, his citation states.
Bellavia left the Army in 2005 after six years of service and would go on to co-found the political advocacy organization Vets for Freedom. He documented his military experiences in “House to House: An Epic Memoir of War,” co-written with……

Dragged into the Cashless Future
In a white paper released today, the IMF and the World Bank said that several central banks are also in the game — they are on the verge of launching digital currencies like Bitcoin. They include the central banks of Sweden, the Bahamas, and the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. European Central Bank officials have also thrown their support behind the issuance of a digital currency.
“We are going through a digital transformation in banking. It is accelerating due to these new technologies,” Tobias Adrian, director of the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department, tells Axios.
The shift is potentially “transformative” if it brings people currently outside the banking system — women, the urban poor and migrants — into contact with payments and credit, the white paper said.
In terms of the central banks contemplating digital currencies, Adrian said, “Whether they are going ahead with them, we don’t know. But many are exploring it.”
The bottom line: “I think that developed economies are on track to move beyond cash and cards,” said Itay Goldstein, a professor at UPenn. “But it will take more time than in many developing economies.”
“The current established infrastructure in developed economies is so strongly rooted that it is an impediment to fundamental changes,” Goldstein said. “But better technology will eventually win, I believe. It will just take more time.”

Just a day after more leaked documents — as well as undercover footage of a top company executive — exposed Google’s determination to never let an election result like 2016 happen again, Google’s representatives told a Senate hearing that the company considers itself a “neutral public forum.”

Now we have been presented with the full weight of Mr Wiggly’s substantial evidence (545pm) of Russian interference and Trump’s illegitimacy. It is abundantly clear to at least half the country that Wiggly’s ilk has no clue about what constitutes evidence or even a substantive rebuttal. And having no clue is what keeps them posting these kinds of comments and ripostes. Having a clue would have given rise to at least a smidgen of shame/embarrassment for such a public comment, even if it were done by a sackhead. And we have to understand that this man represents the best that the Left can offer in these dialogues – there are millions more like him. Do we all really belong within the same borders?

“And I think the interference, although NOT YET QUALIFIED, if fully investigated WOULD show that Trump did not actually win the election in 2016,”. —Mr. Peanut
No, it started a few days ago. The talking points came down, Cheryl the local Dem Operative put it out, Roberta took her clues, and lets built it up to a crescendo. This is being repeated across the land. Guess they needed a new face so they brought out Jimmy from post Watergate, albeit his dealings with the Iranians does not make for good visuals. Re: There is no crisis at the border.
Ok, this is where Roberta & Co got the idea that there is no crisis at the border. It’s all a manufactured “crisis” by Trump to influence the 2018 election. Trump is a liar. It’s fakenews. Fact checkers say so! Don’t read conservative outlets. Trump made it up.
Guess I can cut Roberta & Co some slack. 90% of those who read what Roberta reads (the Enemy of the People) agree. Who can argue with that?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the situation “a fake crisis at the border.”
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer called it “a crisis that does not exist.”
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said, “There is no crisis at the border.”
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said, “There is no crisis at the border.”
House Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Eliot Engel called the situation “a fake crisis at the border.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said, “There is no crisis at the border.”
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former chair of the Democratic National Committee, said, “We don’t have a border crisis.”
Rep. Lloyd Doggett called the situation “a phony border crisis.”
Rep. Earl Blumenauer called it “a fake crisis at the border.”
Rep. Sanford Bishop called it “a crisis that does not exist.”
Reps. Jesus Garcia, Jose Serrano, Suzanne Bonamici, Donald Beyer, Pramila Jayapal and Adriano Espaillat called it a “nonexistent border crisis.”
Former congressman and current California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said, “There is no border crisis.”
All are in public office and all have a say in determining policy. In the media, NeverTrump Republicans, former Republicans and other commentators have joined in.
Former Rep. Joe Scarborough, now with MSNBC, called the situation “an imaginary border crisis.”
Former Bush White House official Nicolle Wallace, also with MSNBC, said, “There’s not a crisis.”
Former Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol called the situation “a fake crisis.”
GOP strategist Rick Wilson said, “There is no crisis on the border.”
Former conservative talk radio host Charlie Sykes said, “There is no crisis at the border.”
The Washington Post’s Max Boot called the situation a “faux crisis.”
The Post’s Jennifer Rubin said, “There is no crisis at the southern border.”
The Post’s editorial board called it a “make-believe crisis.”
And finally, lest anyone ignore the late-night Resistance, comedian Jimmy Kimmel called the situation “a fake border crisis.”
There is plenty more where that came from. Meanwhile, us Deplorables think there is a crisis at the border. We be dummies.

The musical stylings of Weird Al Yankovic rarely offer clarity about the state of legislation in Congress.
But Weird Al’s 1984 hit “Eat it” (a parody on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”) was inadvertently invoked this past week to crystallize the conundrum facing House Democrats after the Senate approved a crucial border spending bill 84-8.
HOUSE OKS BORDER BILL AFTER PELOSI REVERSES COURSE
House liberals were either going to hold out against the Senate measure in favor of their own – or accept the Senate bill.
Amid these deliberations, former Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott, a veteran of such impasses, ambled by the Speaker’s Office late Wednesday afternoon as a coterie of reporters stood watch in the hallway. Lott advised that if he were still running the Senate – where the overwhelming 84-8 vote spoke volumes – there would be only one clear path.
“I’d say ‘Eat it, House,’” Lott said with a laugh.
It’s exactly what they did.
But not without a fiery fight first within the House Democratic Caucus – and one that threatens to keep burning for weeks and months to come.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced a huge challenge as she sought to both assuage the concerns from her left flank and engineer a bill that could actually pass.
Border Patrol gives tour of Texas detention facility holding over 100 childrenVideo
The House had approved its own version of the border legislation Tuesday night, 230-195. But the Senate devised a different, more bipartisan piece of legislation. Not as many controls and consequences for those charged with caring for children. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., wrote the measure alongside Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the top Democrat on the panel. The committee approved the bill 30-1. The Senate then followed suit with a staggering roll call tally of 84-8.

Circling the barn, again. One mo’ time on on schools, crime, and skewing the data.
“According to the mayor and school officials, police have historically issued too many citations to Hispanic and black children for crimes they’ve committed.”
-Hmm, too many citations issued for crimes they have committed. Let that sink in. Let’s continue, shall we?
I have mixed feelings — my first reaction is obviously it’s great, because it reduces the school-to-prison pipeline,” a Progress High School employee in Brooklyn told the New York Post.” On the other side, I feel like it’s a way of manipulating data.”
“If you look at the infraction, the things [students] would get suspended for in the past are now being issued warning cards — and so it skews your data,” the educator explained.
“If I’m a new principal and you leave it up to my judgement, am I going to be inclined to give that student a suspension and raise my numbers — or am I going to be inclined to make it a mandatory guidance conference?” the employee asked. “You now give me, an administrator, the ability of continuing to low-ball my numbers by leaving it up to me.”

On a related topic,Walter E. Williams looks at the elephant in the living room and asks what has changed in Black Culture?
Dr. Thomas Sowell provides some interesting statistics about Stuyvesant High School in his book “Wealth, Poverty and Politics.” He reports that, “In 1938, the proportion of blacks attending Stuyvesant High School, a specialized school, was almost as high as the proportion of blacks in the population of New York City.” Since then, it has spiraled downward. In 1979, blacks were 12.9% of students at Stuyvesant, falling to 4.8% in 1995. By 2012, The New York Times reported that blacks were 1.2% of the student body.
What explains the decline?
None of the usual explanations for racial disparities make sense. In other words, would one want to argue that there was less racial discrimination in 1938? Or, argue that in 1938 the “legacy of slavery” had not taken effect whereby now it is in full bloom?
Genetic or environmental arguments cannot explain why blacks of an earlier generation were able to meet the demanding mental test standards to get into an elite high school. Socioeconomic conditions for blacks have improved dramatically since 1938. The only other plausible reason for the decline in academic achievement is that there has been a change in black culture. It doesn’t take much to reach this conclusion. Simply look at school behavior today versus yesteryear.

BillT 934am – The answer, of course, has been and is purposeful leftwing education to create and maintain the plantation culture. The progressive Left depends on pumping out indoctrinated and ignorant minorities in our large urban centers who emerge with little critical thinking skills and therefore continue to vote for Democrat municipal administrations decade after decade. The Dems cannot afford an educated inner-city constituency.

Odd.
This survey from GLADD appears at first glance to be counterintuitive. With the young people embracing the notion of socialism (or socialistic ideas if you prefer) and with the emphasis on spending a whole month celebrating and learning about the LBGTQAA1 during Pride Month and not just Pride Month, but year round…..with all the education doing on in schools K-Advanced Degrees , with all the protections in the workplace, with all the Federal and State laws governing the private and public sector, with milestones of acceptance and normalization of the gay community in our society, with all the changing attitudes across the fruited plains……well, it just don’t make sense.
Aha! Maybe our young people are gravitating towards Che Communism. They do say Socialism is just a rest stop on the road to Communism.
“The only age group to post a decline this year was young Americans ages 18-34. The number of non-LGBTQ U.S. adults ages 18-34 who reported being ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ comfortable across all seven situations dropped from 53% to 45%. This reflects a continued erosion in comfort among this age group over the past two years. This year, the significant erosion is being driven by females ages 18-34, where comfort levels fell from 64% last year to 52% this year

“Democrats in the House and Senate are at odds with one another over the passage of a $4.5 billion emergency border funding bill backed by Senate Republicans, a Friday report from The Washington Post revealed.
The fact that Senate Democrats went along with the bill “kneecapped the House and marked the most embarrassing defeat for Pelosi in the six months since Democrats took over the chamber,” the report read.”
So go ahead and read through it dipshit,,, show us where it’s looked upon as “getting things done”.

Ain’t that the truth.
Sure, some of the gas money will go to roads and bridges….and the Brown Streak, and homes for the homeless, and to cover the Carbon Tax shortfall and, if needed, some greenies get put in the general fund to be siphoned off to pay salaries and unfunded liabilities like retirees’s health care and the State’s share of Cal-Pers.
The gas taxes at the pump always go to the roads, roflmao. They can’t even build a low carbon grid to power the Brown Streak, fix all the crumbling bridges, or expand freeways to six lanes where needed. Ain’t going to happen. Will gas up tomorrow.

Walt, the boys have returned in Oregon. Bad Republicans, bad. It’s horrible what they done, I tell ya. Now, if they can believe the Lefty Gov’s promises and actually trust her….let’s hope. Her name is Brown. Go figure. We will know soon enough. Trust issues are always a sticky thang….especially in politics. Noticed Nancy seems to always promise to negotiate in good faith (think immigration reform or border security). “Trust me Charlie Brown, I won’t pull the football away this time”. Anyway, the boys are back in town.

Fun fact: Disappearing quorums themselves are not new. Abraham Lincoln famously jumped out a window as a young Whig in the Illinois state legislature to help his party deprive the Democrats of a quorum.
