[‘Socialism is good for you.’ Now we have Crazy Bernie and Pocahontas claiming that the USSR, China, Cuba, … weren’t really real socialist countries; that they were ruled by tyrants instead of the finely fashioned fettle of fearless führers that they would become. Someone should ask them to name a single socialist country that didn’t quickly descend into the tyrannical cesspools that recent history has shown us over and over again. But the Dems are betting, after having screwed up America’s education system sufficiently, that today none of our younger generation have a clue about the various flavors and evolutions of collectivism, and of the hundreds of millions of their own people that what started out as socialism wound up killing over the last 100 years. gjr]

Punchy made a show of declaring Nevada County as BLUE because Silke Pf. “won” in Nevada County, a plurality, not a majority, of the votes cast.
Why Paul is so focused on making Nevada County a one party town is for a shrink to explore.

The votes here say the county is not Blue. You lose Emery.
No do overs.

Thanks for verifying Pflueger, a Democrat got the most votes in Nevada County.
Also remind our readers who carried Nevada County in the Presidential Trump or Hillary and also who got the most votes for Rep-La Malfa or Denny. Thanks in advance for your astute research.

Paul is confused by the unitary primary… it’s a Frankenstinian primary, not a final election. When parties were parties of the like minded with freedom of association, they’d have a primary to determine who among the folks who wanted the office had a constituency, and would choose amongst only themselves who would be on the main ballot. Republicans chose the GOP nominee, Dems the Dem, Lib Lib, P&F P&F, etc.
The flaw in Emery’s thinking is that it games the system… if the GOP mob can’t agree to limit candidates before the election, DEMs will “win” every time… even if more people vote for GOP candidates than DEMs.
Even with LIBs splitting votes from both major parties… imagine Pflueger’s total with a Peace and Freedom candidate splitting that vote.

Quotes from this time and place in space
Insight: “Truth withers when freedom dies, however righteous the authority that kills it; and free individualism uninformed by moral value rots at its core and soon brings about conditions that pave the way for surrender to tyranny.” —Frank Meyer
Upright: “I’m aware that the State Department indicated that on the flagpole of our American embassies that one flag should fly, and that’s the American flag. And I support that. … When it comes to the American flagpole, and American embassies, and capitals around the world, one American flag flies.” —Vice President Mike Pence on the flap about embassies wanting to fly so-called “pride” flags
Immigration reality: “I think the cold, hard reality is, even though almost none of my members were enthusiastic about the prospect of tariffs, you have to give the president credit — it worked. The president deserves applause — not condemnation — for the outcome, which has a good chance of solving this crisis at the border.” —Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Trump’s dealings with Mexico
Braying Jackass: “I believe Trump is an existential threat to America.” —Joe Biden
Demo-gogues: “We choose hope over fear. Unity over division. Truth over lies. And science over fiction.” —Joe Biden, whose Democrat Party does exactly the opposite
Non Compos Mentis: “I promise you if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America — we’re gonna cure cancer.” —Joe Biden
Braying Jenny: “I think there’s [sic] some issues that have such moral clarity that we as a society have decided that the other side is not acceptable. Imagine saying that it’s okay to appoint a judge who is racist, or anti-Semitic, or homophobic. Asking someone to appoint someone who takes away basic human rights of any group of people in America … I don’t think that those are political issues anymore.” —Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on judges and Roe v. Wade
Hitting the brakes … or not: “There is nothing as divisive in our country, in my view, than impeachment. … [But] it’s not off the table.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
And last… “Ideas have real-world consequences, some of which are immediate and dramatic enough that they can instruct even the citizens of democracies, who are so often so immune to learning.” —Kevin Williamson.
Bonus quote: “I know I should not smile and I know I should not be amused, but Trump called Joe Biden a loser, a dummy (who Obama picked off the trash heap), the weakest mentally and slower than he used to be….all in one day.”—-BT

Paul, remember Miller/Hodge in their “nonpartisan” race. Also, the one party state lopsidedness depresses GOP turnout in statewide and national elections… there’s currently no chance for a GOP candidate to win the Governorship or Senate seat, or to get a single Elector in the Presidential election.
Also, 3rd parties struggling to get noticed, like the Libertarian Party, have all but collapsed in the formerly Golden State due to the top two primary we’re now saddled with.
