[Well, the Dems are looking to an approach to 'Medicare for All' designed by a couple of Univ of Mass economists that promises "You'd be able to keep your doctor with no premiums or copays, and overall spending would decline." Now where have we heard all that before? The many holes in this plan (here) also recommend its alternative use as a sieve. gjr]

PaulE 317pm – Not yet. But not to worry. Obamacare is not going to be banished for some time yet – remember, it is expensive and millions are still not covered. There is plenty of time to adopt an alternative, especially given that Repub alternatives are already on the shelf from which a better approach based on market principles can be constructed. You will also recall that there exists no sustainable nationalized healthcare system that is not cutting services and desperately trying to figure out how to cut costs. ‘Patience grasshopper’ 😉

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) on Saturday said that small-dollar Democratic donors should stop donating to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and give to swing candidates instead.
Ocasio-Cortez’s criticism of the DCCC is in response to Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.), the new chairwoman of the DCCC, announcing a new policy earlier this month that attempts to protect incumbent Democrats from primary challengers. The new policy bans Democratic consultants from working with primary challengers if they want to continue doing business with DCCC.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y., might want to brush up on some history after asserting, incorrectly, that Republicans in Congress amended the Constitution to kick President Franklin Delano Roosevelt out of office.
“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt did not get reelected,” Ocasio-Cortez said Friday during a night hall event with MSNBC with Chris Hayes.
Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution which passed in 1947.
The text of the amendment states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” FDR died in 1945, meaning he was dead for a full two years before presidential term limits were implemented.

Flynn plead guilty to one count of lying to the FBI. It was about whether he asked the Russian Ambassador to not reciprocate in kind against the new sanctions and Trump’s hope that the Russians would not vote (or delay voting) on a UN Resolution condemning Israel. He also had been an unregistered agent doing work for the Islamic State of Turkey before Nov, 2016 when he joined the Trump transition team as Nat”l Security Advisor. He was not charged for that, neither for errors on the the form registering for working for a foreign government….the other lie.
Mueller recommended no jail time. Zero.
The FBI had the full transcripts of Flynn’s call to the Ambassador before they even approached him. There was nothing in the phone call that was illegal or raised eyebrows. Totally legal and run of the bill for a senior official of a transition team.
Why Flynn lied is something we don’t know. He is and has been under a gag order, so he cannot explain or publicly defend himself. We know he was urged not to go through the White House legal office or have White House lawyer present. The FBI stated Flynn was relaxed, jovial. My guess is he did not know it was an FBI interview and Flynn did not know the protocol of all West Wing interviews with the FBI are run through the White House legal office first. McCabe called him, “ Hey Mike, it’s me Andy.” They
talked about a little league baseball team, a non-profit , ….and BTW, .I am sending a couple agents over to drop by your office. Just got a couple of questions.” to paraphrase.
My 8:03 pm was to dispute The Pencil Neck Geek statements AFTER the Mueller Report. He said Flynn illegally contacted the Russian Ambassador. No, Trump told Flynn to contact the Russian Ambassador. Total legit for a National Security Advisor of any transition team to contact ambassadors of heads of states. Not illegal in the least and he did so at the President-elect’s direction…….unless…..unless……drumroll please….unless you a such a bigley stupid idiot you would swallow that Logan Act ridiculous nonsense hook, line, and sinker, roflmao. Nobody is that stupid. Opps, the popinjays are!
As an interesting side note, at Flynn sentencing hearing on Dec. 18, we learned from docs that when Flynn was interviewed about whether about he asked Russia not to vote on the UN Resolution condemning Israel, Flynn answered, “not really.” We also learned that he was testifying in a Grand Jury in Virginia against his former business partners when they did work of the Government of Turkey. It wasn’t about Russian Collusion and Flynn had the goods on Trump!!! The noose is tightening and Flynn is a Liar!
Flynn plead guilty to protect his son who also was involved in working for the government of Turkey. Turkey wanted the US to extradite the cleric Fethullah Gulen for his role in the coup attempt…along with 84 of his followers. Never happen. It would be the death sentence for Gulen. Flynn fell on the sword when the FBI dangled his son before him. The Judge asked Flynn four times if he was sure he wanted to plead guilty. Are you sure. Judge Sullivan also said he never convicted an innocent man beforeand did not intend to start today. Hmmmm.
The most interesting thing we learned at Flynn’s December sentencing (since postponed) is that Judge Sullivan, confused on dates, asked the prosecutor about The Logan Act and the whole courtroom of government lawyers and press broke out in snickers, ROFLMAO. The Judge looked at the prosecutor and said, “You do realized the Logan Act has never been prosecuted” as a throw away comment before telling the courtroom to have a Happy Holiday.
The Logan Act. Good one. Makes me snicker at the fools who would spout such a silly folly.
Bottomline: Why bother. You can’t fix stupid. No more wasting my time.

I checked out your links and graphics and they actually enhance my point of view. Exhibit 1 Health care spending as a percentage of the GDP reveal that between 1980 and 2014 the European countries that have established National Health Care systems rose an average of only around 2 or 3 % during those 24 years. However this country , that had no national health care system during most of those years more than doubled. The greatest growth was during the Bush Jr years-over 6%. the graph shows that %of GDP stabilized between 2009 and 2014 during the time Obamacare was introduced.
How do you explain those numbers and how do they support your view that those countries have out of control health costs?

Recheck the definition of ‘unsustainable’, and then consider 1) the constituents of our reported healthcare costs, and those of other nationalized healthcare countries – i.e. apples/oranges. BTW, I did NOT “coin the term” here on RR. Google ‘nationalized healthcare’ and learn, and also please expand your reading horizons – Rachel Maddow is not the penultimate source for news and information.

You have no information to back uyp your contention which is verified by your unwillingness to discuss such basic factors as to why the % of the GDP in our country rose at a dramatically higher rate than those of Euro States with National health care. Still waiting for your explanation as to why the provided chart has information that would somehow support your conclusions about the massive growth of Euro health care compared to ours. In fact it shows quite the opposite.
