[Well, the Dems are looking to an approach to 'Medicare for All' designed by a couple of Univ of Mass economists that promises "You'd be able to keep your doctor with no premiums or copays, and overall spending would decline." Now where have we heard all that before? The many holes in this plan (here) also recommend its alternative use as a sieve. gjr]

The impact of the relentless snowflake attacks on men in the socialist/antifa educational cabal –
But changes at the other end of the age spectrum may be playing an even bigger role. The portion of Americans 18 to 29 reporting no sex in the past year more than doubled between 2008 and 2018, to 23 percent.

Who is taking odds that grampa joe wont make it to the projected announcement date?? There is a picture on this one too!
I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. “Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?” I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it. And also, what in the actual fuck? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?” He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a Spanish saying, “tragame tierra,” it means, “earth, swallow me whole.” I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience.

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2009/06/01/the-cost-conundrum
‘Medicare’ strikes me as a brilliant marketing concept. Since it’s highly subsidized, and the payments you made were hidden if you’re an employee (or nonexistent if you play music in bars for a living), it feels free. It’s pretty hard to subsidize absolutely everyone though.
Any substantial changes to healthcare that don’t involve radically lowering the cost aren’t worth listening to. I can’t believe that having a single payer will make much difference. A lot of counties have only one or two operational insurance companies to begin with, so how does merely moving it to a single private company under contract to the .gov really make any difference?

The State says otherwise oh great pony tail of ignorance.
Yo bro, socialism rocks that’s what the chicks and profs say. What? NO wait! Not if it takes something FROM ME DUDE!!
With far left candidates and policies on the rise in America, it’s no surprise that for the first time ever, more young people say they’d prefer to live in a socialist country over a capitalist one.
Whether it’s free healthcare, free college tuition, or universal basic income, students around America increasingly support higher taxes on the wealthy in order to pay for these progressive policies. But would they support similar policies if they had skin in the game?
To find out, Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips went to Florida International University in Miami to test the waters on a “Socialist GPA” policy in which students with higher GPAs would be forced to “spread the wealth” and give some of their GPA points to students with lower GPAs.
Despite the overwhelming number of students who initially said they’d support socialist policies, few agreed to go along with such a plan.

“I’m all for helping, but I wouldn’t give some of my points… I’ve lost a lot of sleep so I don’t know if that would be fair,” one student said, while another answered no because “I like, study all day for my grades.”

Former Obama DHS Chief Jeh Johnson: We are truly in a crisis

And I probably got too close to the problem, and my staff will tell you if it was under 1,000 apprehensions the day before that was a relatively good number, and if it was above 1,000 it was a relatively bad number, and I was gonna be in a bad mood the whole day.”
“On Tuesday, there were 4,000 apprehensions. I know that a thousand overwhelms the system. I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like, so we are truly in a crisis,” Johnson explained.

Now, I’m not a lawyer, I don’t even play one on the Internet, but if I’d been stuck in Reno having some guy shove fiber optics up my butt, I might stop by Cabela’s on the drive home and buy a magazine or two that are larger than 10 rounds to celebrate.
Thanks be to the Great Prophet Zarquon for the 2nd Amendment.
I’m also happy that I didn’t get rid of the magazines I’ve had since the ’70’s that were 13 rounds or larger… the judge that just struck down the thing is the guy that stayed Bustamonte from enforcing the ban that was to start July 1, 2017. Neither Brown nor Newsom have acknowledged loudly that yes, a federal court judge had rained on that parade.

An excellent plan. If not a doctor, it would be the State of California doing it.
I always wondered what was going to happen to people who had rifles that they simply don’t make 10 or less magazines for. Were you supposed to weld in a block or something?
Magazine size law is one of the stupider gun control measures I’ve run into although it’s impossible to beat bayonet lug restrictions. At least there’d be a little intellectual honesty in a one round magazine limit.

Well G it might be that there has been a lot of self medicating going on since Sunday. Barr letter and all and then there is this about people with lots of debt. Some things are becoming clearer –
Average error rates in the cognitive function tests fell to 4% after the debt was paid down, compared to a 17% error rate beforehand.
• The proportion of participants showing generalized anxiety disorders went from 78% to 53% after the debt relief.
• Numbers of people showing so-called “present bias,” which favors instant gratification, dropped to 33% from 44%, a sign that their impulse control had improved.

According to R. J. Rummel’s book Death by Government (1994), about 110 million people, foreign and domestic, were killed by Communist democide from 1900 to 1987.[31] In 1993, Rummel wrote: “Even were we to have total access to all communist archives we still would not be able to calculate precisely how many the communists murdered. Consider that even in spite of the archival statistics and detailed reports of survivors, the best experts still disagree by over 40 percent on the total number of Jews killed by the Nazis. We cannot expect near this accuracy for the victims of communism. We can, however, get a probable order of magnitude and a relative approximation of these deaths within a most likely range”.[18]

Well, of course they did. Foreign money in politics is legal if it’s foreign money in the press, lol. Like they say about Khashoggi: once a Qatari asset, always a Qatari asset.
From the Wa Compost
“Khashoggi also appears to have accepted significant help with his columns. Salem, the executive at the Qatar foundation, reviewed his work in advance and in some instances appears to have proposed language, according to a voluminous collection of messages obtained by the Post.’
and……
‘Other texts in the 200-page trove indicate that Salem’s organization paid a researcher who did work for Khashoggi. The foundation is an offshoot of a larger Qatar-based organization. Khashoggi also relied on a translator who worked at times for the Qatari embassy and the foundation.’
Another source:
“Rumors have floated inside the Beltway about the contents of Khashoggi’s text messages and, potentially, evidence of wire transfers from Qatar found at his residences in Turkey and in Virginia. The Post’s pre-Christmas release of this information is almost certainly in an effort to get ahead of a story that another outlet is pursuing, and frame some rather explosive revelations in the least damaging way.’

Heck, Bob Dole worked for a law firm that did PR work for Tiawan and the other Orange Man, aka, John Boehner, is on the board of Acreage Holding. Acreage Holdinga is all ready to roll out cannabis across 11 states (and Canada) once the class 1 drug no longer classified as such. In politics, Boehner was unequivocally opposed to changing pot from a Schedule 1 dope drug. But, give the man a fistful of dollars and a cut in the action, and he will sing a different tune, lol.
“I’m convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities.”—Boehner.
Reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities by smoking dope? Rightttt. That’s a new one. Looks like Boehner has been sampling the wacky tobaccy. lol.

Another blog mentions the COSMOS program for four week science enrichment summer camps. Lectures by professors, but the kids mostly interact with high school science teachers paid $5k for four weeks of their time and no grading, “recharging their batteries” with kids who want to be there (or at least kids whose parents want them to be there).
It costs $4k for kids to attend. But priceless for a proud papa whose kid will be spending four weeks at UCSD learning (a life science/engineering program) and spending a month out of the house, and can crow about their kid being in a group of possible future leaders in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
