[Well, the Dems are looking to an approach to 'Medicare for All' designed by a couple of Univ of Mass economists that promises "You'd be able to keep your doctor with no premiums or copays, and overall spending would decline."  Now where have we heard all that before?  The many holes in this plan (here) also recommend its alternative use as a sieve.  gjr]

And the debt service under Trump is increasing at about a Trillion a year since his tax cuts. Here’s a quote from Trump on Hannity. What in your view does “relatively quickly” mean:
“It can be done. … It will take place and it will go relatively quickly. … If you have the right people, like, in the agencies and the various people that do the balancing … you can cut the numbers by two pennies and three pennies and balance a budget quickly and have a stronger and better country.”
However George this is the reality:
“The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reported that the preliminary federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2018 was $782 billion. That was $116 billion more than the $666 billion shortfall in fiscal year 2017.
And the most recent CBO projection for fiscal year 2019 shows a deficit of $981 billion. Each year from 2020 to 2028, the CBO projected, the deficit would top $1 trillion annually.”

We have lost control of the Southern Border. Beyond crisis mode. Two days in a row over 4,0000/day show up looking for Border Patrol agents to pick them up. With children. Some women show up with four or five kids.. It’s a guaranteed 48 hour turn around and they are released into the interior…with a high likelihood never to be seen again. Interior enforcement is almost non existent for the non-violent The border patrol is not even verifying if the kids belong to the illegals they are with.
Detention centers are overrun and not designed for this massive flood of people. Pregnant women are held less than 24 hours. Cartels are now recruiting people from Central America. Come to America and you will spent 48 hours max in detention and released to live in America with social benefits. Good to go.
A big humanitarian crisis going on. Open borders. People waiting for the Border Patrol to pick them up. Pick up a group and go back and another group has assembled. Children are scared, hungry, sick. For their part, the Border Patrol agents are first making sure everyone in the groups found waiting are safe. Safety first. Blankets strewn everywhere. They now are putting the sick in groups. Measles over there, this disease goes over there, that disease goes in that group over there. Structurally cannot handle the numbers. No checking “fear” claims. It is truly an invasion. 100,000 in March alone. Weather is getting better, the sheer volume is out of control.

Today the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan spoke near the border in El Paso. Money quote: “Two weeks ago, I briefed the media and testified in Congress that our immigration system was at the breaking point. That breaking point has arrived this week at our border.”
Social services here are stretched beyond capacity. We’re consistently reassured that immigrants are simply processing here, and then headed off to stay with relatives or other sponsors elsewhere around the country….It’s important to note that none of these people has the right to work in the United States unless and until they have a successful asylum hearing. Which most don’t, either because they don’t show up, or don’t fit the asylum criteria.

    WATER FOR THE PEOPLE!
Now the Trump administration, which has spent the past two years trying to deliver more water to Valley farmers, is going on the attack. After being sued at least 45 times by California officials — on issues like climate change and immigration — the Trump administration is filing a suit of its own over the water board’s decision.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, says the state water board’s plan would violate California’s own environmental laws, as well as foul up the federal government’s ability to deliver water from New Melones reservoir on the Stanislaus River to member agencies of the Central Valley Project.
The CVP is the federal project, built during Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency, that brings water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to farm-irrigation districts in the Valley.

Time to kick Turkey to the curb, no F35’s for you POS. This is worse than anyone imagined –
A cache of wiretaps originating in Turkey appear to show the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan aiding the passage of militant fighters tied to the ISIS terror group into and out of Syria, according to new reports that are raising questions about Turkey’s commitment to its military alliance with Washington, D.C.
‘Recorded conversations between ISIL operatives reveal a different story from the one the Erdoğan government tells publicly’
The records ‘indicate that an implicit agreement existed between ISIL and Turkish security officials’

Here’s a classic from Lindsey Graham about Clinton:
MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell unearthed an 1990s clip of Graham demanding the impeachment of Bill Clinton — for far less serious charges.
“While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.” Graham thundered in Congress.

PaulE 1038am – “And the debt service under Trump is increasing at about a Trillion a year…” Paul, it doesn’t look like you can distinguish between debt, deficit, and debt service. Plenty of websites contain tutorials on those.
Also, study up on the increases in longstanding entitlement programs that are already built in that continue increasing the annual deficits. I know you can blame those on Trump to your fellow travelers; but those don’t fly here because RR has a more learned audience. Put some actual depth into your arguments – e.g. Tax cuts don’t help an economy’s growth, and higher taxes are the solution for more govt revenues without affecting the economy, and … . We can (re)debate those.

My position on NATO (Germany) has not changed. Time to revisit the issue…..exploding heads not withstanding.
“Bob Gates, perhaps the most farsighted post-Cold War defense secretary, presciently predicted in 2011 “that there will be dwindling appetite and patience in the U.S. Congress—and in the American body politic writ large—to expend increasingly precious funds on behalf of nations that are apparently unwilling to devote the necessary resources or make the necessary changes to be serious and capable partners in their own defense.”
“Gates, who once rightly understood that the Saudis would fight Iranians to the last American, also essentially hinted the same with regards to Germany and Russia, “nations apparently willing and eager for American taxpayers to assume the growing security burden left by reductions in European defense budgets.”
“Put simply, he was saying the Germans would talk about an international liberal order for as long as Americans would pay to defend it. The day they are caught not tangibly supporting this order, they would throw a tantrum and blame Washington. “Future U.S. political leaders– those for whom the Cold War was not the formative experience that it was for me—may not consider the return on America’s investment in NATO worth the cost,” he said.”……
“The last two weeks have brought back this long-time question, as Germany yet again reneged on its pledge to increase its defense budget, which was already far short of the required 2 percent of gross domestic product to uphold North Atlantic Treaty Organization commitments. Under a nominally conservative leader in Angela Merkel, the German government is apparently struggling to have a defense budget of 1.3 percent of GDP, and reports show it is set to decrease to 1.2 percent by 2023.
“In short, Germany is not even trying to increase NATO funding, but actually planning to decrease it, in a rub to the American and British taxpayers who subsidize European security. Adding insult to injury, some German politicians accused the American ambassador to Germany, Richard Grennell, of acting like a colonial viceroy or high commissioner of an occupying force, and wished he would leave Germany immediately.
    Money quote
“Yes, you read that right. Germany refused to pay for its share in NATO, and when the American ambassador pointed that out, the German leaders wanted to make him a “persona non grata” and take away his position. “

You know, if we taxed the filthy rich at 100%, we would have enough money to pay off all the outstanding student loan debt. Of course, there would be nothing left over for those young people in the pipeline entering college to service their student loans. All the money gone, and that is just one of the many many multi-trillion proposals the Dem Socialist candidates are spouting on their stump speeches. Pocahontas just called for about a 100 trillion in infrastructure and other new spending….and she ain’t alone. Not by a long shot.

Optimism over the labor market increased, as the share of respondents expecting increases in the jobless rate in the year ahead fell to 21 percent from 31 percent. Respondents saw an average chance of 15.5 percent of losing their job in the next five years, the lowest reading since 2007.

    Today’s quotes
A blind squirrel finds a nut: “I think there was a fundamental difference between 16-year-old Eric and 18-year-old Eric. … If you’re able to serve in the armed services, you know, potentially give your life for your country, I think that is a really good demarcation line. And at that point I think you ought to have the ability … to vote.” —former Attorney General Eric Holder
Race bait: “Exactly when did you think America was great? It certainly wasn’t when people were enslaved. It certainly wasn’t when women didn’t have the right to vote. It certainly wasn’t when the LGBT community was denied the rights to which it was entitled.” —Eric Holder
Braying Jenny: “We just haven’t even seen the Mueller report, and we don’t expect to accept just the attorney general’s interpretation of it. A little bit arrogant of him to think that that would be the case.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Braying Jenny II: “I’m so proud of the work of [House Intelligence Committee] Chairman Adam Schiff, in stark contrast to the irresponsible, almost criminal, behavior of the previous chair of the committee. … I think [Republicans are] just scaredy-cats. They just don’t know what to do.” —Nancy Pelosi
Oh good grief: “It took [William Barr] only two days to write a four-page summary of an investigation that was conducted over the course of two years, seemingly around the clock. So it calls into question the integrity of the document that he submitted.” —Sen. Kamala Harris
Delusions of grandeur: “[The Mueller report] establishes, I hope, to all people, no matter where they are on the spectrum, that the FBI is not corrupt, not a nest of vipers and spies, but an honest group of people trying to find out what is true. And that’s what you see here.” —former FBI Director James Comey (He’s right about the vast majority of agents, but deceitfully wrong about his own leadership.)
The BIG Lie: “One real threat is the impacts of climate change on our safety. … Cyber-security is a real threat. … Mass gun violence … [is] a real threat. What’s not a real threat to the safety and security of Americans is the southwest border.” —Janet Napolitano
Alpha Jackass: “In America, we have in the aggregate a mass shooting every day because dozens of people are shot and killed. I am frustrated with politicians who all the best they can muster is to give thoughts and prayers. Enough of that. Enough of that.” —Sen. Cory Booker
Pivoting: “I don’t know all the details in the prosecutor’s decision [to drop the Jussie Smollett charges]. I know that’s going to come out. But what we’ve got to know is that this is happening in a larger context where hate crimes in this country are on a rise. Where white-supremacist violence is on the rise. In fact, if you look at the majority of terrorist attacks since 9/11, the majority of them have been done by homegrown, right-wing extremist groups, and the majority of those have been white-supremacist groups.” —Cory Booker
And last… “I wouldn’t mind them dropping charges against Smollett if the condition was that he had to publicly admit his guilt. That would be a worse penalty than jail time for a narcissistic liar like him. The fact that they allowed him to walk free AND play the martyr is the real travesty.” —Matt Walsh

You want collusion, I got your collusion –
A reporter is accusing the managing editor of NBC News and MSNBC’s political coverage of trying to “intimidate” him into spiking a story about the Democratic National Committee in a chilling phone conversation that he says had her acting as a political operative and not a fellow journalist.
Yashar Ali, a high-profile freelance journalist whose work has appeared in the Huffington Post and New York magazine, said he was so taken aback by his conversation with Dafna Linzer, who has held the key NBC position since October 2015, that he posted his synopsis of it in a series of tweets Friday. Linzer, he said, was trying to block him from publishing the dates of the 2020 Democratic Party primary debates – a move Ali suspects was made to benefit the DNC, not her employers.
“Yesterday, I received a call from @DafnaLinzer who serves as managing editor of NBC/MSNBC politics. Dafna’s conduct during the call was highly inappropriate and unethical. So what was the purpose of her call? She called me to bully me on behalf of the DNC,” the first tweet read.

A congressional committee is mucking around in the affairs of Fox News in a manner that should concern every defender of free and independent news media. But because it’s Fox News, none of the usual suspects have yet to protest this threat to our First Amendment rights.
The probe stems from a New Yorker magazine report that Fox News killed a story on Donald Trump’s payment of hush money to stripper Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election because 21st Century Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch wanted Trump to win the election. (The story was first reported by other media in 2017.)
That prompted the House Oversight Committee to ask Fox to turn over any information it had about Trump’s “debts and payments to silence women alleging extramarital affairs with him prior to the 2016 presidential election.” The committee also wants information about any “action taken against” reporter Diana Falzone in “connection with attempts to report such stories,” and has asked Falzone to turn over her notes by March 28.
Falzone worked on the story in question and was subsequently fired by Fox. She sued alleging gender and disability discrimination, and the case was settled out of court. Her attorney, Nancy Erika Smith, said Falzone is willing to ignore the nondisclosure agreement she signed and testify before the committee.
This is “about obstructing justice and a news organization that has become an arm of a campaign,” Smith said. “Real journalists don’t kill stories because of political preferences and certainly not two weeks before presidential elections.”
I hate to break the news to Ms. Smith, but there’s nothing unique about what Fox allegedly did. A lot of stories never see the light of day because they fall apart under close scrutiny, and some stories are even “spiked” because they would upset a major advertiser or a good friend of the owner. It happened to me many years ago, and my experience wasn’t unique.
But regardless of why Fox killed the story, no arm of the government should be poking around the inner workings of a news organization, or second-guessing in congressional hearings the editorial judgment of decision makers. News organizations have a First Amendment right to publish — or not publish — what they please, and they can spike a story for any reason they choose. That’s part of freedom of the press.
I get it. This involves Fox News and Trump, but even people who would like to see both disappear are playing with fire if they countenance this government intrusion into the affairs of a news organization. It’s a dangerous precedent that can lead to more aggressive oversight in the future that can threaten the independence of media.
If you don’t believe me, just look at the press in countries where editors and news directors have to worry about how the government will react to any story they publish or broadcast.

Good one Todd. Made me cry.
    Scenes @ 2:23 pm (again)
Not surprising in the least. In fact, it is a perfect example. All aspects of the Left, be it education, media, entertainment, HR departments, politics, speech, thought or the DNC are one and the same. Indistinguishable. The Left is at its core is ideology, while the right is goovrned by a philosophy.
    Link….just because. 2 plus 2 is 5.

Thanks for the intelligent response Hoseman Bessee. You seem incapable of an intelligent conversation. How are the pot crusades going? Oh yeah, that’s over in Nevada County.

Even Fox News legal expert supports Schiff
Fox News’ Napolitano drops bomb on viewers: ‘Schiff is correct’ on evidence of Trump conspiracy and obstruction
“I think that Congressman Schiff is correct. In that report will be evidence of the existence of a conspiracy. Not enough evidence to prove the existence beyond a reasonable doubt. In that report will be evidence of obstruction of justice, interfering with an FBI investigation for a personal gain. But not enough evidence to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.”
