    Denver — More people have been ending up in the emergency room with cannabis-related problems since recreational marijuana became legal in Colorado, according to a new study.
    The study analyzed thousands of emergency room visits in the Denver area. It was published Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
    Marijuana emergency room cases in the study increased threefold since 2014, when recreational pot became legal in Colorado, the study found, according to The Associated Press.

    Twelve percent of the cases were for acute psychosis, where people without a history of mental disorders lose touch with reality. That was more frequently seen with edibles.”
    Intoxication and heart problems were other common complaints.
    Emergency room records from Monte’s hospital show a three-fold increase in marijuana cases since the state became the first to allow sales of recreational marijuana in January 2014. Nearly a third of patients were admitted to the hospital, evidence of severe symptoms, Monte said.
    In 2012, the ER saw an average of one patient every other day with a marijuana-caused problem. By 2016, the count was two to three per day.

    No problemo, just get the Great State of California to fire up it’s own system. A single party state should be able to do that much. Ironically, you do get the problem of proving CA citizenship, but what the heck.
    Truth is, healthcare will hang around the neck of any President. Everybody wants free health insurance, but no one can supply it. An awful lot of people who are filled with opinions have never been in the private insurance market and have no idea how expensive this stuff really is.
    A good side question is this. How much of the nation’s healthcare could you buy if you zeroed out the military budget? That, or TAXING THE RICH! always seem to be the solutions offered. Another laughable theory I run into is that all the money goes to insurance executives. If anyone bothered to look at their yearly reports, they’d notice that executive total compensation packages aren’t even a rounding error in the cashflow.

    Buzzword of the Day: healthcare.
    The sad thing for the Democrats is that Trump is a rarity, a ‘Republican’ who would likely be in favor of nudging towards Democratic needs in that area and could bring enough of his party with them.
    Instead, we get treated to two years of frantic insanity concerning things that don’t matter a whit. I’m afraid that the Prez is now hardened against the Left and is much less likely to listen to them. A missed opportunity, really.
    It isn’t like the real problems are much fixable at this point. It’s like repairing an airplane in-flight, and none of your ideas really work very well. The Laws of Unintended Consequences abound.
    In terms of healthcare, dunno why building a payment monopsony is viewed as some kind of magic bullet, aside from dragging everyone to the same low level. Fairness over efficacy I guess. It’s like greenhouse gases, if everyone just drove a big ol’ Subaru wagon instead of a 1/2 ton F150, we could save the planet. We live in the Land of Innumeracy and Half-Baked Nonprofits.

    I didn’t have a keyboard or a solid internet connection when you were demanding I go and look for the citation I’d seen and accepted as being from a rational actor, which AXIOS is.
    You also couldn’t come up with a number that you would have found to be acceptable, based on your sense of the Mueller sh*tstorm. You just wanted to throw insults.

    In other stories… Nevada County went GOP in the latest special election… 54% vs 46% DEM. The runoff election will give us a choice between a Republican and a Republican, and, if I remember my will Rogers lore, that means we’ll choose a Republican this time.
    We ain’t Progressing as promised, is we?
