Oh, Punchy the Teddy Bear loves to pull out Ann Coulter quotes when it serves his agenda, just like quoting “Republican Jeff Flake said this about Trump or Republican Bob Corker called Trump a liar or Republican John McCain said this about Trump….or….drumroll please….Doug Malfia disagreed with the Liar in Chief!!!!
Yep, our Ann is a pistol, no doubt. A firecracker for sure. Last time it looked like Trump was caving on The Wall, she tore him a new one and Trump unfollowed her on Twitter, ROFLMAO. She will calm down again once the Wall is built….and it will be built. You can take that to the bank.
Personally, I think Ann could use a few pounds on her slender frame. Curves are nice. Don’t need her looking like that boy on MSNBC, Rachel Madcow.
Once the Wall gets built, Punchy and M and even Bobbie Buttercup will be hating on her again. Just as President Trump rails against “fake news,” President Lincoln felt that a significant front in his war to preserve the Union was against the news media. This made Lincoln highly critical and skeptical of media.
According to Noah Brooks, a reporter who had regular access to Lincoln, President Lincoln often said, “the worst feature about newspapers was that they were so sure to be ‘ahead of the hounds,’ outrunning events, and exciting expectations which were sure to be disappointed.”
Lincoln, who was embroiled in a civil war in which the very survival of the country was at stake, was also much tougher and more aggressive with the media than anyone could imagine in the modern era. This included shutting down newspapers and imprisoning journalists who supported secession from the Union.
But the hostility toward Lincoln within the Washington establishment and the political elite was just as ferocious.
Edward Everett, the famous orator who spoke for hours at Gettysburg while Lincoln gave a very brief but historically and morally a much more powerful speech, wrote in his diary that Lincoln was, “evidently a person of very inferior cast of character, wholly unequal to the crisis.”
According to George Templeton Strong, a prominent New York lawyer, Lincoln was “a barbarian, Scythian, yahoo, or gorilla.”
Even the general who Lincoln chose to lead the Union Army, George McClellan, dismissed President Lincoln as a frontier hack, “an idiot,” and “the original gorilla.”
Even among his fellow Republicans, Lincoln encountered fierce attacks.
Republican William M. Dickson of Ohio wrote in 1861 that Lincoln “is universally an admitted failure, has no will, no courage, no executive capacity … and his spirit necessarily infuses itself downwards through all departments.”
You decide whether attacks on President Trump’s hair or attacks on Lincoln’s intelligence are more demeaning.
President Lincoln was a very different man facing a radically more dangerous situation than President Trump. Yet each president represents a direct threat to a national establishment by an outsider.
The next time you hear a nasty attack on President Trump, consider what people wrote and said about President Lincoln.
There is a lot more similarity between the Lincoln crisis of the Union and the Trump crisis of the Establishment than most people will want to even consider.“

Why are the Leftinistas fighting an extremely qualified minority gay jurist to the 9th District Court Of Appeals?
It seems that the only thing holding Democrats back from confirming a highly qualified, diverse nominee is their bias against his perceived politics. Despite his active association with many organizations representing many diverse groups, his work defending members of marginalized communities, and his work across many areas of legal expertise, the one thing that seems to be unacceptable to Democrat senators is his conservative judicial and political worldview.

PaulE 909am – I think you have trouble understanding such comparisons. Mr Tozer was only comparing the vilifications both presidents received when they were not yet legends in their own times. Lincoln was not yet the national icon when he was disparaged (and during a devastating war when he was sending tens of thousands a week to their deaths). And, of course, currently neither is President Trump. Mr Tozer was simply pointing out the political portents of both men during their public opinion low points. I hope that helps you avoid such logical stumbles in the future.

Doubt away. Last night, The Union’s article about the local pot shop dope selling store opening ( one of their 9 article slideshow on the left side of the on-line edition) also was blocked as “Restricted Site”. I could read all the other articles , except the pot shop article. This’ all started a few weeks ago when I could not access certain websites and writers via the links the Drudge Report lists at the bottom. Or maybe it was some of those British papers when I first noticed it. Nor could I access Victor Davis Hansen’s excellent unassailable article on Dr. Rebane’s fantabulous post “Twilight in California—VDH nails it”. I have since found workarounds, per normal.
I think it was something to do with Goggle Chrome. I have been warned by an extremely successful and a techie of quasi-fame that IF you care about your privacy and Big Bro tracking your every move in life, then NEVER use gooogle chrome. I don’t. But, the kids dropped by, used my little computer machines, and tied in all my devises and used Google Chrome on my Android that evening……and problems started shortly after that.
I don’t know shit about computers or devices or the internet. I did not need to know while working. If I had a problem, I just picked up the phone and techies from Frisco or Sac come running and fixed it…or make it do what I wanted. Anything I wanted. Nice young people, but had to tell them I don’t want this or that they recommend, just make it do this…now. My own personal Geek Squard, but those nice young men and woman were lot more than that. Heck, one kid starting explaining something about electrons bouncing and Xs and 0s and….I just looked at him and said, “STFU, and fix this fucker. Make it do this and don’t add nothing else..” The poor highly educated and good natured young man just looked at me with mouth agape and the other tech just looked at him and said, “See, I told you about Biker Bill. Hey, Biker Bill, is there anything else you need? Great to see a again, sir.”
They loved the drive up here from Pleasanton or from wherever the Company sent them to fix the fucker, make it do this and get rid of this and that, make it do this with one push of a button….and get rid of Google Chrome…
Anyway, that’s how I got through the brave new world of techno. It did not change the way I communicated to anybody, even you. 🙂
Russ was asking around the other day about something wrong with Google or something like that. Who knows? No longer have those highly paid young people run over at my beck and call for free. Oh well.

Walt. Do you have any idea how much money sitting on those commissions meeting a few times a year? More than some legislators make. And Willy bought her a nice Mercedes too boot…..all the while when Willie was married. Harris was at Ole Willie’s side on more of his campaign stumps than his own wife, lol.
I have read several interviews with Ms. Harris in the past. Straight from the horse’s mouth. The lion’s share of her talking aboutt her life, her upbringing, her childhood, her parents…was about aout her Indian (India)) heritage.
It would be interestingly see if she runs and identifies as a black woman as we get closer to 2020. She already saying the right things as Obama did in 2004. “There are no blue
states, there are no red states, just the United States!” (Insert standing ovation wild applause here.)
Senator Harris, in one of her first interviews since tossing her hat in the ring, said she
does not identify as a Black-American, aa Indian-American, but as a American. Saying all the right things for now. Keeping It vague. Hope and Changey.
A black women iis the top of the pecking order in Identity Politics. With CA moving it’s primary to be the first in the nation, Harris would have 25% off delegates before the race is barely out of the gate. Now, if Harris could somehow make herself gay and disabled on topping being black and woma ,nothing could stop her.

The Union 100 years ago column has a tidbit on immigration. The Government stopped it for four year. I sent a request to Don Rogers for any llinks that he had regarding his response to me that it was a “nativist” movement that pshed the policy. He could not supply one. I said it looked to me the country just out of war and seeing the commies in Russia and the Spanish flu might be the reason.
