[Get ready for President Trump's speech from the Oval Office tonight in which he'll try to convince us that there is national security crisis on our southern border, and that spending money to reduce border porosity is now a national priority which the Constitution allows, nay, requires him to exercise executive powers to defend America against an unending influx of poor, ignorant, and destitute foreigners who are told they have the right to illegally enter the country and establish a new life in America.  gjr]

“The key to the Grail is compassion, ‘suffering with,’ feeling another’s sorrow as if it were your own. The one who finds the dynamo of compassion is the one who’s found the Grail.” – Joseph Campbell, Reflections on the Art of Living
How fulfilling life would be if we knew we were leaving a more inhabitable Earth for our children’s grandchildren.
Another quote that I know through Emerson but has been accredited to others as well. None the less it is a good one.
” We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.”
    – Ralph Waldo Emerson

No real argument with the sentiment Ben……wish the enviro types could disconnect from the group mind regarding “Climate Change” (An issue that even the old school proponents acknowledge is just a wealth transfer mechanism from “rich” to “poor” countries) for a while to work on real issues. How about working on the “Great Pacific Plastic Patch”? Why not……because there isn’t any money in it!
The chance to tax carbon at the source…..no way Western politicians could ever pass that up! In an era of shrinking discretionary budgets Carbon Taxation is the last hope for temporarily fattening government coffers!

Ben doesn’t have any kids to be borrowing the world from. On average, about half of all men don’t have any kids and that has been true for ages.
Climate Change is the left’s wedge to put their taxmen in the middle of the carbon fuel money stream, but there is a grand solar minimum on its way… the Bens of the world had better get their money streams set up before the middle classes of the whole world start wearing Yellow Vests and raising hell.

“In short, even if the golden geese of capitalism were to continue laying eggs in Ocasio-Cortez’s command-and-control economy, there will not be enough to make her statist omelet. Even if Ocasio-Cortez’s fever dream were technologically feasible, the burden of funding it would land on the middle class as well as the uber-wealthy…….
Yet the reaction from Very Serious People is not to ask Ocasio-Cortez when she plans to stop snorting the pixie dust, or to remind her she is not the representative for Neverland. In the world of Very Serious People, the idea of Mexico funding a border wall is fantastical, but the idea of going carbon-free in a decade is visionary. The Green New Deal will sound far more plausible when democratic socialists figure out a way to burn the unicorn flatulence generated in promoting it.

Capturing the costs of externalities from industry would be a good start to shift the way we all perceive our lifestyles. If we paid the true cost of goods and services our culture would look and act much different.

We have put together some local groups together in our region that work somewhat are under the radar but nowhere near enough. through one of those groups I bartered livestock for some lumber to build my dad a deck before he passed away. Also through another group we collected truck loads of goods for those in Paradise after the fires. We helped get passed a temporary permit for more permanent structures while the town gets rebuilt. Anything of value that changes hands is an economic event (transaction) and thus subject to the rules and regulations of the IRS, i.e., a taxable event and must be reported, FYI. The law applies to all and goes not take into account good intentions or how things should be in a perfect world. If the value of one is greater than the other, tax evasion may have occured.

    Not a bad question.
I always wonder what’ll happen when 20 billion people, all living sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyles, will do when anything goes wrong. In a lot of cases efficient systems are quite brittle.
Then there’s always the question of why the Blue Mob wants the entire Third World to move in to the First to enjoy the better lifestyle. Just imagine the ecological hit from that.

Not all of team 0 is towing the party line –
President Barack Obama’s Border Patrol chief went public on Tuesday and said that President Donald Trump is correct about building a border wall.
President Trump fired Obama-appointed Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan one day after taking office in January 2016. Despite this, former Chief Morgan made a public statement released on Tuesday supporting the president’s plan to build border walls, LawAndCrime.com reported.
“I’m here today breaking my silence to tell the American people that the president is correct in what he’s doing,” Morgan told interviewer Brian Ross with the Law & Crime Network. “The wall works — 100 percent.”

Poor Mike Pense having to justify statements from our Liar in Chief
Mike Pence Struggles To Defend Trump’s Lie That Past Presidents Support His Border Wall
All four living former presidents have denied that they ever spoke to Trump about the wall or have made it clear they do not support it.
On Friday, Trump falsely boasted that his predecessors “have told me that we should have” built the wall.
“This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me, and they all know it,” he said during a news conference. “Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”
But all four living former presidents have denied that they ever spoke to Trump about the wall or have made it clear they do not support Trump’s long-promised proposal.
Pressed by NBC News’ Hallie Jackson in an interview Tuesday, Pence hesitated, before attempting to claim that the president meant that it had been “his impression” and that he meant “the importance of border security.”
