[A little while back I asked for feedback on the notion of moderating RR comments in the effort to cut out a lot of the naked ad hominem interpersonal crappola comments that contribute nothing to the discussion of ideas, issues, or events. The plan would be to quit moderating again as soon as the ad hominems were promoted to at least high school, if not churchillian, levels. The response from all you worthies was a massive yawn. Silence is also feedback, so I take that as apparently no one cares. Thank you. gjr]

ToddJ 1103am – Yeah, but I’m not interested in the resolution of such animal husbandry problems on RR. Since you seem to have more tolerance to the discussions of such subject matter, perhaps you can invite their continuance on your blog. I’m not trying to constrain free speech, only recommend venues where it is most welcomed.

Under the category It Can’t Happen Here, I present to you the rest of the story and the reason behind the brawl inside Mickey D’s:
“Biandudi says the argument started when Taylor went over to the condiment bar to grab a straw. When he noticed there were none, she says he began screaming at the employees.
“He was yelling and walking toward the counter and the young lady behind the counter told him that it’s the law now that we’re not allowed to have straws in the lobby,” she said.
The new law, which took effect January 1 in St. Petersburg says restaurants can’t have straws out. Instead, customers must request the straw. In 2020, plastic straws will no longer be allowed in restaurants at all and businesses will have to find an alternative.

Another shooting up on “the ridge”, as I speak.
Someone named Doug shot some guy in the gut with a .45
A road rage incident it sounds like.
Last seen on Sweetland Road headed for Pleasant Valley.
First ax attacks in GV, now gun play up on the ridge.
And the first week of the new year hasn’t even ended yet.

“Flynn’s attendance at the RT event was disclosed in advance to the intelligence community, he took proactive steps to ensure he could not be compromised by attendees and he then came back to the United States and reported intelligence designed to benefit America.
“Flynn was never charged with any wrongdoing related to the RT event, so the belated revelations about his pre- and post-event conduct won’t have any effect on his sentencing in the court of law. But in the court of public opinion, they should have a real impact.
“On that score, the first accounts of the Russia-Flynn story — like many others in the still-unproven collusion narrative — should be amended to reflect that the retired general acted like a patriot, not a traitor, when he visited Moscow for the RT event.
https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/423558-exculpatory-russia-evidence-about-mike-flynn-that-us-intel-kept-secret
Which brings us to the biggest crime concerning the Flynn saga. No, Flynn’s discussions with the Russian Ambassador were perfectly legal and not a crime. Discussions about sanctions and opening up energy exploration is a matter of policy, not criminal. No, the big crime was not failing to report income he made on behalf of the Turks. Neither was the big crime of lying to Pence, which he was fired for. Neither was lying to the FBI the BIG crime which he will probably serve no time for. Nope, none of the above.
The real big crime, the felony that carries years in prison, occured when Flynn’s name was unmasked and somebody illegally leaked that classified info to the press, a big time felony and no-no. Thus, the Deep State and their complicit press strikes again. The enemies of the people are many and situated in high places.

Instead of: No, the big crime was not failing to report income he made on behalf of the Turks…….it should read “No, the big crime was not failing to to file proper foreign lobbing paperwork for work he did on behalf on the Turks.”
The enemy of the people, who done it?
“That silence was maintained even when former acting Attorney General Sally Yates publicly claimed Flynn was possibly “compromised” by Moscow.
“And when a Democratic senator, Al Franken of Minnesota, suggested the former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) chief posed a “danger to this republic.”
“And even when some media outlets and our own friggin fakenews popinjay opined whether Flynn’s contacts with Russia were treasonous”

re: Pelosi and The Speech.
That reminds me of a story told by Victor Suvorov (aka Vladimir Rezun).
Evidently, some time ago, a rather fat and sleek Russian general was giving a speech at one of the military academies. Someone had slipped up and there were two interleaved copies of the speech.
The rather porcine general proceeded to read his speech to the assembled officers. Page 1 followed by page 1. Page 2 followed by page 2. etc. Of course he never noticed. And of course, the crowd sat in rather horrified silence afraid to say anything. A beautiful thing.
I’d have to say that the current gerontocracy isn’t a whole lot different than a batch of Soviet officials. These systems rhyme more than you might think.

Upright: “Good character is not an impediment to success. But it is not sufficient for success, either.” —Jim Geraghty
For the record: “If Senator Romney wants to sound off against Trump’s excesses and character flaws, he should by all means do so in response to Trump’s tweets or statements or actions. But by forcing a ‘Love Trump or Leave Trump’ choice on Republicans, he’s actually doing the work of both the most ardent Trumpists and the most viciously antagonistic members of the Democratic party and the media.” —Ben Shapiro
Friendly fire: “Though [Dean] Baquet said publicly he didn’t want the Times to be the opposition party, his news pages were unmistakably anti-Trump. Starting in high school, Malcolm used apps like Tinder and Grindr to meet men from around the state, friends said. On that October night, he had come to Bristol to meet someone younger, purportedly a 14-year-old boy “going on 15,” according to a video posted by the digital vigilante group known as POPSquad.
And here is where things went horribly wrong for Malcolm:
When Malcolm arrived, he found that there was no boy — there was only POPSquad. For the 126th time in two years, the group — an acronym for Prey on Predators — had catfished a man on the internet, posing as an underage teen on hookup apps and luring him into a meetup, this time at an empty home whose owner allows it to be used for the group’s stings, according to POPSquad.
Now, I ask you… Ever, in the history of journalism, has an alleged child predator received five glowing paragraphs of hagiography before his alleged crime was detailed?
This POPSquad that NBC News hates so much just happens to be an online version of NBC’s own Dateline program, To Catch a Predator, which ran from 2004 to 2007–the idea being to use the Internet to lure child predators out into the open where they are publicly exposed and shamed on camera.

I did like the article. It’s possible that some kids were messing with the stink ass Tesla people, ridiculous if true. What’s really interesting is that some random person can put type up a post on Reddit, get quoted in some ‘news’ website, and then more ‘news’ websites quote the ‘news’ website, and then one of the numerous ‘news’ websites gets quoted here. Fail. You have TDS and see an ‘army’ that doesn’t exist. There wasn’t any proof of any kind that linked this to Trump.

As worries have mounted in recent months, top financial regulators have held meetings with economists at banks and brokerages to instruct them to take into account the interests of the Communist Party when they publish economic analyses – an apparent euphemism for holding back alarming language, Bloomberg reported in November.
But over the past 12 months, bits and pieces of data coming out have been precisely that: alarming.
Car sales have been shrinking for the first time since 1990, when most of the country was peddling bicycles. A key manufacturing survey at the end of the year showed Chinese factory activity actually contracting. And revenue from consumption tax was down 72 per cent in November

In the “if you tell a lie long enough and loud enough conservative minds will believe it” category: trumpy today said with regard to his wall and his ‘gimme my wall or I will take my ball and go home..errr let the government shut down until they give me my way.. wah wah wah!” approach to deal making.
“The people of our country want it. ..I have never had so much support as I have in the last week over my stance for border security … or, frankly, the wall or the barrier. I have never had anything like it in terms of calls coming in, in terms of people writing in and tweeting. I’ve never had this much support,”
slight problem — the Whitehouse phone system, mail, etc. are not and have not been functioning because of the shutdown. So it must be support from his goombah buddies via cell phone or maybe ‘bat signals’ in the sky.
Another slight problem –most Americans DON”T want his wall, only the minority of the population that support him. A Quinnipiac poll of registered voters that were reached on landlines or cell phones from Dec. 12-17 found that 54 percent of respondents opposed the wall. A Harvard/Harris online poll of registered voters found that 56% or respondents opposed the wall.
The truth is never the truth in trump land.
