["Policy makers should view the problem from the starting point of today, and resolve to take action on every front. America must restore the norm of gainful employment for all who are mentally and physically able and are not working in the home. The private and public sectors must share responsibility for equipping every American, college-bound or not, with marketable 21st-century skills. Congress and state legislatures should restructure public benefit programs to encourage work and ensure that workers earn a living wage. Finally, the nation must enact public policies that sustain the labor market through downturns, making it possible for every able worker to find a job." From the dreams of disconnected policy pundits. (more here) ]

Looks more like mom set this kid up for a life of grief being named abcde. Why not go full blown fghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz and say its pronounced smith?
Traci Redford said she was boarding a Southwest Airlines flight home to El Paso, Texas, with her 5-year-old daughter when she overheard an airline employee mocking the little girl’s name, Abcde (pronounced ab-city).

If you would have read my link you would have seen the Dershowitz piece I linked to was from Wednesday. Hardly stale Walt.

I’m sure someone will cry racism and demand he gets rehired.

re Dershowitz comments – DonB’s 1145am introduces an important observation worthy of its own discussion, WaltB’s 1217pm re-intro of it indicates he doesn’t read comments entered after his last one, and then PaulE’s 1235pm quotes a totally different part of the lawyer’s remarks that better fits his narrative and ignores the part that doesn’t. Was that omission meant to deceive the reader?

Todd, sorry, but NUHS was never very good academically. Talking to a local tech maven a few years ago, NU to Cal in the ’70’s, he told me that few in his class went to four year universities. It’s much worse now, with Ghidotti skimming the cream of the local crop as they enter the 9th grade.
What the local schools had was a good football program, and kids that all sorta spoke English, the latter being the only reason Terry McAteer could stand up and tell everyone we beat Marin County on the basis of testing in English and Math… but if you looked at just white kids in Marin, they beat the pants off the nearly lilly white but dumbass Nirvana County schools.

Never claimed to be perfect Dr.R. Sometimes that’s what happens when one plays whack-a-mole with a demented hippie.

Gregory, sorry you don’t know what you are talking about. I graduated in 1968 and many of the 350 went to college. If that is what you think makes a better person then I challenge you to tell us how. At my 50th in September this year we had a great turnout. One of my friends was a CIA spook and some were doctors, lawyers and ditch diggers. If you judge people like Boardman then you are narrow minded.

Paul Emery does what all those political advertisers do and that is peel off words from one sentence and try and create a new one with a different meaning. I think he just is not that smart as even I, a high school graduate have exposed that trick.

I included the entire paragraph in my post Todd. Sorry if his conclusion is not a happy one for you.

Gosh George
I was just expanding on the conversation with what seemed like a summation by Dershowitz. What is the problem with that? It’s a direct quote and I included a link ant the entire paragraph to establish relevancy.

Are you refering to Dershowitz when you say blowhard? Your quote. If not him who do you refer to?
” Bank on opinion that the blowhard has no knowledge of.”

PaulE 225pm – I may have been too hasty in thinking that you should at least have noted how your extension related to the entire Dershowitz comment.
