[On 11 September 2001 radical Islam carried out its most devastating attack on those they identify as infidels and kafirs, their name for the rest of us on this globe.  On this day of remembrance it is incumbent on us in the west to reflect on the state of Islam, and especially its quiet ongoing conquest of Europe, whose belated recognition of and opposition to what's happening is deemed racist by the Left.  Lest we forget, Europe is just the warm-up, with the battle cry 'Death to America!', an Islamic America is their main objective.  gjr]

Several sources George. The Puerto Rican government accepted the George Washington University research. Also Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which estimate over 4000 deaths.

What’s the real number? Nobody knows yet. . Makes me think of before Statehood here in the West. A governor was appointed for an area. Not much in the way of a robust civil service had been formed. A few government agents, like territorial and regional judges amidst the local retailers and conmen. The Wild West had poor record keeping….the type of record keeping that was common in territories, but not so in the places that were admitted as States into the Union.
As a side note, I don’t recall tons of media attention when the two hurricanes hit that season. I recall a hurricane ripping through the heart of Cuba, devastion in the Dominican, havoc everywhere. I remember the dire need the British and Dutch citizens were in when a big one hit the Carabean. Cut off totally from the outside world and ripped up the US Virgin Islands. Then on to a Puerto Rico, but not glued to the chair media stories and 24/7 coverage from PR. Odd.

“The whole issue is dead since Kavanaugh admitted to supporting the argument of the Priests for Life that contend contraception is abortion.”
“Priests for Life” can think what they want and that wasn’t the issue taken to court. Kavanaugh did not do or say what you contend he did.
What was the phrase you used… “he said what he said”? The issue here is that he didn’t say what you said he said. I’ve come to the conclusion that, when you’re boxing, you don’t think. You just punch. It’s reflexes at work.

Ryan disputes Trump on Puerto Rico numbers. My goodness the Repub head of the House doesn’t even agree with Trump.
WASHINGTON – House Speaker Paul Ryan disagreed Thursday with President Donald Trump’s assertion that the death toll from last year’s hurricane in Puerto Rico was inflated.
Ryan told reporters he had “no reason to dispute” the findings of a study commissioned by Puerto Rico’s government that put its death toll at nearly 3,000 people.
“You couldn’t get to people for a long time on the island because roads were washed out, power was gone and the casualties mounted for a long time,” Ryan said when asked about Trump’s tweet. “So I have no reason to dispute those numbers. Those are just the facts of what happens when a horrible hurricane hits an isolated place like an island.”

Claims “it’s a matter of opinion.”
No it’s not, Paul. You got caught (again) lying. You knew there was no proof that Kavanaugh said that he agreed with that philosophy and so you tried to palm off what the PFL think – not what Kavanaugh thinks about contraception being abortion.

Here’s more. Kavanaugh supported the opinion of the Preists for life that contraceptives did indeed qualify as a legitimate “religious” reason for not following the mandates of HHS bvecause they qualified as a form of abortion.
“We at Priests for Life have personal experience of Judge Kavanaugh’s approach to religious freedom, because he sided with us when we had to defend our religious freedom in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Notably, Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and full-time associate with Priests for Life, was one of the petitioners in the Priests for Life case.
“In Priests for Life v. HHS (2015), Judge Kavanaugh voted to block the Obama administration from forcing us to violate our consciences by being complicit in providing abortifacient and contraceptive coverage to our employees. He found it ‘crystal clear’ that the government mandate was a substantial burden on our exercise of the freedom of religion.

“That individual strongly requested confidentiality, declined to come forward or press the matter further, and I have honored that decision,” Feinstein said in a statement. “I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities.”
According to a person familiar with the matter, the FBI does not now plan to launch a criminal investigation of the matter, which would normally be handled by local authorities, if it was within the statute of limitations. The FBI instead passed the material to the White House, as an update to Kavanaugh’s background check, which already had been completed, the person said.

High school sex scandal? Oh my, whatever shall we do? They were supposed to vote on Kavanaugh today or tomorrow, but Stop the Presses! Anita Hill was a last minute “anonymous” sex scandal as well. Cool beans. High school?
You know, those FBI background check are an arduous process. They go back to your grade school, trying to find teachers or classmates still around. Same with middle school, high school. Where did you live? Who were your friends, your classmates. Interview the teachers, find out what kind of kid you were. Onto college. Where did you live, work, name of employers, supervision’s, co-workers. Who were your neighbors? Interview them, all of them that can be found. Check out every references.. And on and on it goes through your life. When Kavanaugh was basically a secretary for Bush, classified material crossed his desk. Close to the President, the background check could have taken 6 months.
Then when he was appointed to the Circuit Court, another background check was ordered and the process starts all over again. Then when nominated to the Supreme Court, the arduous process begins anew. The DOJ (Rosenstein) put out the word that he needs another 100 DOJ lawyers from across the land to dig into Kavanaugh, along with extra FBI agents. They found nothing. Very thorough and expensive process.
Viola! Di-Fi has been holding this “anonymous” sizzler since July. Wow. It’s now September 13. Susan Collins did not fold, time for the next stalling tactic. High school? Whatever it was, true or most likely fake, it’s sounds like a state matter or something that the statue of limitations ran out long ago. I seriously doubt the FBI will investigate this, beyond a call to Di-Wi or the accuser. Maybe theynthink this will get Susan Collins to finally buckle.
It just goes to show how low they will go. Such lies, a pack of reprobates they are. Ironically, FBI intense background checks are to keep reprobates out of government, lol.
Does remind me of Harry Reid on the Senate floor declaring he has proof that Mitt Romney cheated on his taxes and did awful bad bad things…..all the while lying through his teeth having no such “evidence”….er….smoking gun. It’s who they are. Liars, cheats, thieves, steppers on people’s feet…..for all the world to see and mock.

So far you just keep yapping about what the PFL believe.
Kavanaugh simply agreed they had a valid religious objection. He never said he agreed with them about the details of the grounds for the objection. There are judges that have ruled that some native Americans can use peyote legally as part of their religious ceremonies. That doesn’t mean the judge thinks using peyote is a good idea or that the judge uses it him or herself. Get it, Paul? Good night. Newsman, indeed.

Not only has Paul relied entirely on PFL’s opinions about what Kavanaugh believed, Paul quoted a line from PFL that is expressly CONTRARY to Paul’s claims that had Kavanaugh saying contraceptives were abortifacients:
““In Priests for Life v. HHS (2015), Judge Kavanaugh voted to block the Obama administration from forcing us to violate our consciences by being complicit in providing abortifacient and contraceptive [my bold italics] coverage to our employees. He found it ‘crystal clear’ that the government mandate was a substantial burden on our exercise of the freedom of religion.”
abortifacient and contraceptive coverage… for employees of Priests For Life… So, Paul, why is it so important to force a pro-life group with obvious church ties to provide abortifacient AND contraceptive coverage to employees?

Aha, I remember well one such case. New Mexico. Guy was fired from his state job for smoking peyote buttons on the job. He sued and won. What made that case so memorable to me was the guy’s job was a drug and rehab couneselor for the State of New Mexico. ROFLMAO. BTW, when is the last time you heard the phrase “peyote buttons”? Talk about organic.
Religious beliefs and freedom to practice religion are enshrined in the 1st Amendment. Heck, there is a school teacher here in CA that converted to Islam and now takes off every year during the middle of the school year to go do her Mecca journey. Not in the classroom for a few months a year. She was threatened with termination, sued, and won. The government (school district) must provide accommodate her to practice her religion. So, there is a school teacher who is not in the classroom and never misses a paycheck while the district has to pay through the nose to hire substitute teachers to fill the void.
Government can make no judgement as to the validity of religious beliefs. Sure, they can raid a place if children are being endangered or some weird sex slave stuff….or just today more defendants are being added to the genital mutilation cases in Michigan. Boy, the more they look, the more they uncover. Very widespread. There is a lot of Muslims clustered together in Keith Ellison country. But, those acts are in violation of the law and the health and safety of individuals. Kinda like honor killings are not allowed here either.
Besides those extreme 7th Century examples, the separation of Church and State means government must stay out of religion. Religion can enter government, but it’s a one way street. Neither can government be biased or show favor to one religion or the other.
Kavanaugh’s opinion was that the government overstepped its authority and its enshrined Constitutional prohibitions by placing undo burdens (mandates) on the Priests for Life’s right to practice their religious beliefs as they saw fit.
Compare Kavanaugh to Hillary and her campaign staff said the Catholics need to change, were backwards, etc. There is contempt bleeding through their e-mails of freedom of religion.
“There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church.”
The emails were leaked in the third round of releases of Podesta’s emails by WikiLeaks.
Newman, who is Jewish, admits he does not know much about the Catholic Church and isn’t volunteering personally to subvert Catholic teachings. “Even if the idea isn’t crazy, I don’t qualify to be involved and I have not thought at all about how one would ‘plant the seeds of the revolution,’ or who would plant them.”
In response, Podesta assures Newman to rest easy, for he and his progressive pals have already created organizations explicitly designed to infiltrate the Catholic Church with progressive ideology, though he cautions that the time may not be right for full revolution — just yet.
“We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this. But I think it lacks the leadership to do so now. Likewise Catholics United. Like most Spring movements, I think this one will have to be bottom up,” Podesta writes.

I have this theory about the women that bleat the loudest about needing to have legal abortion on demand coming from the women least needing to worry about such a thing.
Apparently Warren thinks Kavanaugh is being vetted by the Senate for the office of Dictator For Life.
The only thing that could possibly happen after Kavanaugh is confirmed is that somewhere down the road, Roe V Wade is overturned (as it should be). Then the various states can allow or ban abortions in their own way. Any woman put out by the fact that her state will not allow her to kill her unborn child can simply move to a state that will let her do so.

I have been meaning to say this for days: SCOTUS confirmations.
I want a Justice that thinks a lot of things that you or me may and will disagree with, but when he/she roles up the robe sleeves, I want them to put that all out of their minds and ask, “What does the Constitution say? Let’s look at what the document says.” Not what I hope it says, not what I want it to say, not what be best for this current chapter of time we are in,….. but what does it say and I will interpret the text to the best of my ability with every fiber of my being. It’s my solemn oath. It’s my Duty.
So, if a judge thinks that it’s sad that there are inequalities in the world, that’s fine. If he thinks people should not speak so course in public, that’s fine. If he even thinks a case would upset the apple cart, that’s cool.
But, when he rolls up his sleeves and dives into the matter, the only thing on his/her mind is what do those words mean. Reading the black on the parchment pages, not the yellow, not the white parts.
If fact, the proof of a great judge is one who believes one thing and then follows the Constitution that tells him to go a different way.
Well, it’s a political process now. Bork found that out. You can’t tell the scared shitless hyperventilating ones that it don’t matter what I feel about the price of tea in China, it’s all about what the Constitution says that matters. There is 300 cases to look at to gleam how he would rule. Did he side with the text, or did he side with the government mandating people do stuff, damn religious believes?
Remember, this will be the same guy who will defend your right to not believe in any God or to be free to be a vocal God hater. It’s all what the text says.

BT at 7:02 – “What does the Constitution say? Let’s look at what the document says.”
Not only that, but what did the authors and ratifiers of the Constitution have to say about the document and their intentions in forming the type of govt that we have.
“the legislative department shall never exercise the executive and judicial powers, or either of them: the executive shall never exercise the legislative and judicial powers, or either of them: the judicial shall never exercise the legislative and executive powers, or either of them: to the end it may be a government of laws and not of men.”
    John Adams
Nothing scares the crap out of the left as much as thinking like this.
They have the idea they are doing the work of God and anyway they can get it done is secondary to their pre-determined ends.
Ginsburg is at least honest in her trashing of the document she supposedly swore to uphold.
“I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012,” Ginsburg said in an interview on Al Hayat television last Wednesday. “I might look at the constitution of South Africa. That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, have an independent judiciary. It really is, I think, a great piece of work that was done.”
And we all know what a bastion of human rights the govt of So Africa is.

    More from Florida:
Facing Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), Scott has increasingly put some distance between himself and Trump. But DeSantis, who owes his Aug. 28 gubernatorial primary win to Trump, hadn’t criticized the president publicly. That changed Thursday.
“Ron DeSantis is committed to standing with the Puerto Rican community, especially after such a tragic loss of life. He doesn’t believe any loss of life has been inflated,” DeSantis’ campaign said.
Scott, whose Senate bid was encouraged by Trump and who raised money for Trump’s 2016 super PAC, had no comment through his office or Senate campaign. Both Scott and DeSantis have campaigned for Boricua votes in Florida and traveled to the island.
But Alan Levine, a Republican appointed Scott to Florida’s university governing board, couldn’t keep quiet.
“Mr. President. SHUT UP,” Levine replied to Trump on Twitter. “Any death, whether one or 3,000 is a tragedy. That doesn’t mean you caused it, and its not about you. Show compassion for the families,” Levine wrote. “Learn what we can so future response can improve. Honestly….”

Conservative commentator Jennifer Rubin sums it up better than I can about what a disaster Trump is to the Republican Party
“Conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin unloaded on President Donald Trump for claiming Democrats inflated the Hurricane Maria death toll in Puerto Rico to make him look bad.
Rubin mused that if President George W. Bush had suggested the 9/11 death toll was fake, “the country would have been in open revolt.”
“I think the realization is about to hit home for Republicans that this is a loser for them,” the columnist said. “Donald Trump dominates the news with these crazy-pants theories and statements, and they are tied at the hip with him.”
It’s no surprise, Rubin added, that GOP “polls are dropping like a stone.”
“No wonder there they’re double-digits behind in the congressional generic polling,” she said. “They’re identified with this crazy stuff and their spinelessness, their encouragement, their enabling is going to come back in November.”

It does appear to me that PE has been vanquished at every turn. Defeated by a bunch of right-sided crackers. Oh my what is a liberal to do?

It looks like the Feinstein crap has been sent to the FBI who did not want anything to do with it. They sent it to the Whitehouse. K was in a all boys school and 17 apparently the letter is about three removed from the supposed perp. Good enough for the left.

    That’s a whole different story.
The tower attacks were in a very defined space and time with a highly concentrated news media attention focused on that space.
A hurricane in PR is an entirely different story.
Maybe Paul can stop trying to deflect and show us his proof of the number of deaths in PR after the storm and the cause of those deaths.
But of course Paul never seems to come up with any proof.
I’m sure if you stretch the time line out, you can find any number of deaths in PR. Any time. Hurricane or no.

“Trump is nuts, crazy, a wacko.”
    Still ahead of you.
Economy is humming. Wages are up. Women can still kill their little charges at will.
The press is free to print one lie after another.
Our major high tech industries fight to see who can out-censor the other.
A Senator from CA can falsely lie and slime a SCOTUS candidate and be called a hero.
Donations are pouring in to the left wing radio stations.
Paul will ruefully look back on these days as the golden years.
Hows it going in Venezuela, Paul? How’s the public radio station in Caracas doing? I’ll bet they light their cigars with a 2 billion Bolivar note.
    Things will get better, Paul.
We’ll all be equal standing in line for bread.
    If there’s any bread.

PaulE 826pm – Looks like you did another ‘duck and cover’ job Paul. I thought you were talking about the verity of the claimed 3,000 PR storm deaths. Hard to follow your train of thought on this.

Here you go, folks – China has now castrated one of our countries most famous and powerful companies.

Read it and weep. Even Google is now employing totalitarian tactics for its own employees.
What if you saw men in NAZI uniforms bossing the workers at GM in 1940?
I think the next war has already started and ended. And we lost.
Maybe Trump can do something. It seems no one else in Washington will.

Not a lot of info out there. FEMA does not track those things, the local government does or can’t. Lots of roads got washed out, isolating areas.
    —————————-
How many died from stuff falling on them, how many from flying debris, how many drowned or buried somewhere in a mudslide?
How many died due to lack of food, clothing, water, exposure, power out in a swelting old folks home….well, that’s what FEMA does….emergency water, temp shelter, food, clothing….disaster relief. Ok, add generators and work with all the power companies in America to send some fine linemen and equipment down there, wherever there is. PR has bigger problems than counting their dead or keeping track where people went.
Bottomline: natural disasters kill people, everytime. But, that is not the point is it?
The real point is not matter what happens with Florence, Trump just won’t have the right words of comfort and it will be another meltdown that he did not really feel their pain. Strike that. His words are disgusting! Just like the sound of his voice is in your head. Fingernails down the chalkboard rocketing into rage. Oh bother. Get a life.
