That Lady Justice today only wears a patch over one eye is apparent to at least half the country.  Mueller’s ongoing investigation, along with the FBI et al investigations that preceded it, gives clear and compelling evidence to the bloom of corruption that has compromised our justice system over the last decade.  Kim Strassel’s ‘When Justice is Partial’ in the 24aug18 WSJ compiles a short and bitter summary of what has gone down.  And here is the strong letter to follow by Canadian Conrad Black.

As our commenters note, white farmers are beginning to have their lands seized, something that South Africa’s ANC party announced, most history-aware people believed, and the Left (led by its oracle NYT) whole heartedly denied and denigrated President Trump for his sentiments on it.  Here is another report on it from the UK.

Do notice more than ever today that the Left firmly believes that the money you earn actually belongs to the government, which then deigns at its pleasure to leave you spend some of it?  And the Right believes that what you earn is yours from which you contribute as little as possible to the government so that you can spend of it as much as possible for yourself and yours.  Another leftie letter in today’s (25aug18) Union makes this point clear as it decries how much of the people’s money the rich are allowed to keep, clearly taking it from the pockets of the poor – the eternal zero sum game of the socialists cum communists.

Our local KVMR as a public radio outlet actually should be in line for more discretionary spending of its government subsidy that will come to them through the PBS.  Howard Hussock of the Manhattan Institute asks “Why should (public radio) stations have to pay for ‘Masterpiece Theatre’ or national radio programming”, instead of devoting more of their journalistic talent for local coverage that includes providing online content such as podcasts and videos? (more here)

IMHO National left/right polarization will make a quantum leap to a much higher level in the next twelve months, exceeding by far anything we have witnessed to date.  On the local level it is already rare for the mixing of conservatives and liberals in scheduled small social events.  Today both sides literally feel uncomfortable being in each other’s company and have to restrain conversation to exchanges of banal daisy talk in order to keep the peace.  And both sides feel totally reasonable in their sentiments since each is convinced the other side wants to take the country down the path to hell.

[27aug18 update]  Trump’s trade triumph with Mexico is desperately being denigrated by our looney Left that claims the president’s very measured and salutary description of the new trade deal is a sign of his “walking back” the tactic that started with tariffs and promised a trade war.  Wiser heads now understand that the tariffs gambit was really the first step in a process of nouveau reconciliation of beneficial trade agreements that will now cascade with our trading partners like a row of falling dominoes.  The final act will be the renegotiation with China.  But you can bet the ranch that Team Schumer, Pelosi, Waters, …, and the lamestream will do all they can to misrepresent this progress to their lightly read constituencies, a good sampling of whom now populate Nevada County.

[29aug18 update]  The 27aug18 Sandbox has a heated discussion about right/left “violence”.  Paul Emery sent me this photo as evidence of rightwing violence in Nevada City.  It is posted here to further the discussison.

DefacedSign

And there is more to the story.  PaulE sent me another photo of the same sign he reports was recorded by a colleague on 9 May 2017.

[31aug18 update]  Does anyone else notice that it’s ALWAYS the Left that attempts to relate the mention of simians, no matter how remote or innocent, as a referent to the Negro race?  No one else ever seeks to make hay out of that hateful connection.

The platform of the Democratic Party has now condensed down to 1) Impeach Trump, 2) Open our borders (abolish USA), and 3) Nationalize healthcare (‘Medicare for all’).  Oh yes, did I mention ‘Impeach Trump’, in case more has to be said?

Nationalism has always been a dirty word for global collectivists, now it is officially a dirty word for progressive Democrats.  For review, the formal definition of nationalism is “a political, social, and economic system characterized by the promotion of the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining sovereignty over the homeland.”  By that, I am and have always been a nationalist, with the addendum that if our national interests contend, I will always promote America’s interests over that of any other nation, organization, group, … .

MIT-created programming language Julia 1.0 debuts.  The dynamic programming language, which is free and open source, combines the speed and popular features of the best scientific and technical software.  (more here)  Meanwhile, Lithuanian primary school kids will start learning informatics and computer science in a 100-school pilot program designed for nationwide implementation.  Small countries like Lithuania have no choice but to develop their human capital on steroids if they are to remain commercially competitive and a sovereign nation-state. (more here)

Here’s a little quiz – what are the commonalities between Obama’s 2012 candidacy when he had a Democrat Congress behind him, and the upcoming midterms.  Please take a little visit back to yesteryear (here) and compare the arguments before you answer.

    You tell em sister!
While President Trump is busy making America great again, Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – who is expected to win a U.S. House seat in November in a heavily Democratic congressional district in New York City – is calling for policies that would turn the American Dream into the American Nightmare.
If you think the “socialist paradise” nations of Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea are the greatest countries on the planet, Ocasio-Cortez is the candidate for you.

They are on the march –
Knowles said Saturday that he believes Democratic Socialists are targeting the teaching industry and as a result, students, because they can’t win against adults.
“They can’t win in the battle of ideas,” he said.
He said that instead, Democratic Socialists are trying to cut off any thought of freedom by students and replace it with socialist ideology.
“They’ve got to indoctrinate an ideology rather than educate in history because if they teach history, they’re going to lose,” he said.
The pamphlet notes that organizing in schools is a way to “win concessions from the millionaire and billionaire class.”

It’s something to watch you all moaning over the Mueller purge. In the last few days, we see that the rats are crawling all over each other to get a deal with the traitorous Justice Dept. before Captain Twit blows any more self-inflicted holes in the hull.
It reminds me of those fun days of the Starr years when they would trot out Susan McDougal barefoot in chains to scare the living shit out of anyone who refused Kenny’s advances. https://snn.bz/susan-mcdougal/
History does tend to repeat itself, horribly. Slick Willy managed to avoid walking the plank. Will Trump be as lucky?

RE:IMHO National left/right polarization will make a quantum leap to a much higher level in the next twelve months….
One thing that is readily apparent to me is the stuff that is happening in the cities across our great land is not happening here in the foothills. Thus, posting comments about Antifa burning up UC Berekly to protest Milo rings hallow to locals on the Left. There is no hounding people out of business in Nevada City because someone of the wrong ethnicity is serving food from a different ethnicity., aka, cultural appropriation.
There is no outcry against micro-aggressions, no thought police running amok hauling one before a kangaroo court of their peers to face penatilies above and beyond the obligatory toxic masculinity re-education classes for making someone well uncomfortable by Invisible unconscious bias or the like.
There is not tearing down of statues past centuries built as monument to their time. Nevada City won’t need to tear down a statue of Sargant if they never put it up, lol.
No anti-Hate marches down Mill Street in GV or Broad Street in Nevada City with windows being smashed, reporters attracted, or police being screamed at and spat upon to show the world what anti-hate looks like. No calls for Grass Valley or the county to go through every ordinance and record on the books to remove gender specific pronouns. No demands for gender neutral bathrooms in our parks. Hey, a Johnny on the Spot works great for that purpose, but I will forge on.
No being chased out of restaurants for wearing a MAGA hat or having folks’ place of work and pictures of one’s abode circulated because one disagrees with my posts or someone says something offensive at a townhall. No we handle that pretty much in comments sections and let it be. Let our fingers do the walking.
The biggest thing that happened here in years and got the crowds riled up and on the overpass (as well as packing into the courtroom) was the Opossum Affair. The OWS issue got crowd up and out, but they looked more like a candlelight vigil. Temperatures rose when the debate went on and on about hanging those strings of lights over Commerical Street. Sure, the marijuana issues packed them in, but no cops were called to quell the unrest in the BOS chambers.
No MS-13 gangbangers running around these parts using machetes and torturing people before disembowelling them. No racial tensions boiling over on a nightly basis, no block against block, no neighborhood against neighborhood, no cries of Gentrification. Our neighborhoods are already middle class. And homogenous. And the antics of the Antafa and the Alt-Left seem so far away.
What I am trying to say is the club I use to hit back and wack the Unhinged and Lefties upside the head with are stories and articles and memes about what the Leftinistas are going other places….other places, not here. So, I noticed it often falls flat or misses by a mile because the targets have not a clue what I am talking about. They cannot relate. Uninformed. They don’t see it here, it’s not in their face here, it’s not in their daily lives here. Bashing what’s going on daily on our campuses is met with puzzlement because their minds go to Sierra College or what it was like when they went to Cal back in the day. Can’t relate.
With all that laid out, here there is indeed an unspoken tension. A sitting on your own farts, if you will. I don’t wear my MAGA hat in public. Not because I am afraid or ashamed, but I just want to get to the market without talking politics in the checkout line or go to grap a cup of mud without some look or sly comment. I ain’t out for a confrontation or wish to make a statement or be a billboard proclaiming my beliefs everywhere I go. But, then again, sticks and stones can break my bones and words can never hurt me. I will speak opening, caring little if overheard, but I ain’t looking to get in someone’s face at a diner nor do I want to have someone in my face when I am at the ATM. The problem is politics (Trump!) has taken too large of a role in [our] emotional and mental capacities. It needs to be put back in its place, cut back down to its proper size.
The other day the phone rang. An “emergency” came up (friend broken down on a street in GV) and I hit the door in seconds. Biker Bill to the rescue! I grabbed a ballcap on the way out of he door and fired up the bucket of bolts. It just so happened my friend was broken down in front of a old friend I have known for many years. Small world. She saw me and came straight over and gave me a big hug and we joyously exchanged how good it was to see each other again after these past years. Then her face changed dramatically and said, “Oh, you are one of those.” Unbeknownst to me, the ballcap I grabbed leaving the house in a rush was my prestine MAGA hat. I replied, “Yep, I am one of those!” I turned to help my friend whose car broke down and she turned and walked inside her home.
It’s here, just without the punches and spitting and getting in your face. And they are clueless because they don’t believe or won’t believe it can happen here. It’s coming, it’s here, whether or not you ever heard of Milo or shadow banning or The Great Divide.

I suppose the most puzzling (to me) thing about what is happening in our country is the sincere belief by the left that our divide is because of ‘divisive’ rhetoric by Trump, etal.
Let’s suppose they do impeach and throw out Trump. Then what? Has the left even thought that far? Well – some have. “And then we’ll go after Pence”. Yep – an actual quote.
    Good luck with that.
The issues are still extant. Trump ran on issues he is really delivering on or trying to deliver on. That’s why people voted for him. He had sex with not-his-wife? You mean like Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Reagan? Did he molest and rape like Clinton?
The left thinks getting rid of Trump will get rid of those who oppose their core principles. It won’t. And it can get worse – much worse.
Free health care for everyone with open borders? Really? That’s what the left wants. Not my opinion – it’s their stated goal.
Just as a random add – guy down the street used to fly the American flag and the MIA flag. After the brouhaha with folks toppling civil war era statues, he started flying the Stars And Bars. He’s not racist or southern or any of that. He’s just upset at the left and their NAZI attitude and he’s flying it just to piss them off.
This is all just going to escalate nation-wide.

[Of course, there are always differences in opinions and latitude is freely given my moi to those who interpret thing differently than I would and do. No problem there. Take 6 artists and tell them to paint a picture of that oak tree over yonder and you will have six different paintings. But it’s still an oak tree, the same oak tree. Preamble disclaimer over.]
Scenes: while you are stuck on gypies, I am stuck on ‘what kind of lawyer would have his client plead guilty to a crime….blah, blah, blah. Answer: Maybe a Clinton Mob Boss lawyer, The Clinton Crime Syndicate fixer possibly is that kind of “trial lawyer”, lol.
What makes me have those ‘Say What?’ moments in the Union letters is I cannot believe how uninformed some folks are. Everything seems to get turned on its head, the instigator becomes the innocent bystander, the perpetuator becomes the victim. When I think nothing could surprise me anymore, I get surprised again. The torch carrying mob storming Dr. Frankenstein’s lab is turned into Dr. Frankenstein’s lab is storming the peasants quietly sleeping in their hobbles. And what really get my jaw to hit the floor above all else is how the molehill becomes the mountain…. or the mountain simply does not exist.
We have seen the Project Veritas tapes. The Dem paid operatives planning how to disrupt Trump rallies, going out into the streets hiring homeless folks among others besides their reliable stable of go to thugs those that are willing, able, and pre-disposed to violence Then training them. Instructions are given what to do, placement of folks in front of cameras, off cameras, and all orchasted to get someone to react to flip the story that the Trump attendees are the aggressors and violent ones. The tapes have the planners recorded boasting on their success, how much they are paid by the Democrat Party, their tactics, etc. Pelt them with eggs, push them, strike them, shove them, scream and spit and punch women off camera..and if and when someone reacts….catch it on camera and put the tales of woe how innocent peacefull protestors are being viciously attacked, whipped up by Trump to commit violence, ROFLMAO. I especially liked the elderly disabled lady with the oxygen tank saying how awful it was that Trumpers attacked her, all the while she was paid in advance to be pushed by the Dem operatives, rehearsed it, then blame it on violent Trumpers. She spilled the beans to a “man on the street” reporter, was quite candid, and appreciated the money. Sign her up. Trumpers push down little old lady with oxygen tank!! Evil people do sick things…or is that sick people do evil things?
So, I read in the Union letters that ALL the violence is coming from one place and one place only: The Far Right. The extreme far far right that is outmof touch with the mainstream. And all the violence and hate and ALL the divisiveness is coming from Trump. That is the common theme I read a lot. Jaw dropping time.
It’s fake news! It’s a lie! It’s edited tapes! It never happened! It’s a conspiracy theory!
    No, it’s ‘Say What?’ time.
If Mr. Cross was being truthful and really never heard that Comey wrote the exoneration letter of Hillary before 16 key witnesses (including My Gal Hill) were even interviewed, then I just have to believe him and wonder where exactly is he getting his “news”. Never heard of it? Ok, try Senate Intel Committee testimony for starters. Just starters. Like, it’s common FBI practice to write the conclusion before the evidence is collected, right?Conspiracy theory! They found nothing! Only 100 FBI agents on the case and 6 Justice Department lawyers from the cream of the cream DOJ-National Security Division all came to the opposite conclusion. But, that is ‘t the point, now is it?
Lady Justice has an eye patch on? One eyed trouser trout is more like it.

Birther? I don’t much care where Obama was born given his mother’s proclivity with sleeping with African political figures. As a US citizen, there’s a strong moral case that he was one himself no matter what. As I remember, the only case to be made was that there was a change in US citizenship law floating around his birth year. We’ll never know given the secrecy surrounding his background. It’s not an argument I cared or care much about.
Denier? Of course there’s human effect on ecosystems and a fairly large die-off that occurs when they show up on a piece of property. It’s fair to say that the climate guys are (a)shitty at long term prediction and (b)attempting to roll in a resource grab and political change along with their pontificating. Want less ecological problems? Don’t import masses of people to the first world, allow the West to decrease in population, for God’s sake do something about Africa. I’ve always admired ‘denier’ though and it’s quasi-Nazi ring. It’s just further proof that the Left’s foundation myth is built on Hitler and slavery rather than George Washington’s cherry tree, the Mayflower, and Thermopylae.

He was called a ‘maverick’ which to me means he had no set principles of governance I could ever trust him with to uphold. He always seemed to be more inclined to be working for his own standing with the Washington in-crowd.

With all the excited hype that the Conquering Cortex is the new face of the Democrat Party (and Bernie Sanders is now considered too far right by some) I decided to check out her victory that has rocked the Democrat Party.
“But only about 13 percent of registered Democrats turned out to vote in the 14th Congressional District that takes in parts of Queens and the Bronx, according to a preliminary city Board of Elections tally
There are 214,750 active registered Democratic voters in the district. Only 27,744 voted, and Ocasio-Cortez won by more than 4,000 votes.
In another hotly contested race in Brooklyn’s 9th Congressional District, Rep. Yvette Clarke squeaked by insurgent Adem Bunkeddeko 52 to 48 percent. But turnout was only about 9 percent — with 28,266 out of 313,949 eligible Democrats voting.”

The short story (Readers Digest version) is the Dutch people up and moved their community 1,000 miles north to get away from the British after the British colonized the Cape. Tough independent people. Johannesburg is not Cape Town.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trekboer
To appear fair and balanced, the farther North by Northeast you go, the more the area is sparsely populated and the few police there are have to cover huge areas. Disclaimer over.
What gets me is the viciousness of the crimes. The time spent on these “botched” robberies/burglaries. Take Granny, kill her husband, then grab the Mikita and drill holes through her feet as she sits there. Then take a fork a dig out her eyeballs. If she cries out, she will be killed. She sits in silence thinking what else can they do to me. Botched robbery.
The other one that got me was a family in a home invasion. They young dad told them to take anything they want, just don’t hurt my family. Take all the money and things I have. His little daughter ran to her room and came back with her piggy bank. She held it up to the “burglar” and said, “Here, take this.” The armed man looked down at the little girl then raised his gun and shot her father between the eyes in front of her. Botched robbery.
And Seth Richards was a botched robbery with nothing missing and no signs of struggle.

    George Rebane penned:
“I wonder where are our leftwingers here to continue downplaying the SA atrocities that the blacks are committing against white farmers. Some even accused those who pointed out the ongoing atrocities (these didn’t start yesterday), covered up by SA’s ANC, as being racists, thereby further diluting any meaning which that appellation may yet retain”

    Wonder no more.
“While the anti-Trump media and governing elite parrot the narrative that Trump’s a racist, the same have been pretty silent on this developing issue. Their silence is likely a subtle response to the fact that President Trump recently spoke against this overreach. Put simply, whatever Donald Trump’s against, they’re for, and vice versa.”

New Report Exposes Global Warming ‘Law Enforcement for Rent’
Report details how wealthy donors are paying for lawyers to pursue environmental cases by state AGs
    By Brendan Kirby
Deep-pocketed global warming activists have been pouring big bucks into attorneys general’s offices to pay for lawyers to advance their agenda and use the powers of the law to take actions they never could achieve alone, according to a new report.
Released Wednesday by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), the 56-page document dubbed “Law Enforcement for Rent” paints a damning view of the cozy relationship between environmental activists and Democratic attorneys general in several states that have pulled off an end run around the democratic process — grabbing resources they have not been able to get from lawmakers.
“This is political. We have a policymaking process. They tried it and failed,” said Christopher Horner, a fellow at the think tank who wrote the report. “So their stance is, ‘It’s not working, so we’re going to use law enforcement.’”
Horner said the tactic has given environmental activists a new avenue to increase restrictions on carbon emissions after Congress rebuffed them, the Supreme Court blocked a regulatory plan then-President Barack Obama offered, and other supportive politicians lost races at the state and national levels.

The idiotic defacement of the stop sign could easily have been from some confused green libertarian flying a false flag to scare up some enthusiasm among the regressive Progressives in town.

    Either…
    1) there were some right wing ideologues who thought they’d scare the visiting Frisco Mime Troupe with a silly sign.
    2) it was a sign placed in the vicinity of the Mime Troupe to set the mood, by the Mime Troupe
    3) it was placed by a Miners Foundry person to set the mood
I think the last two are more plausible than the first.
Paul, your reaction to it isn’t convincing. You could have been the one to put it there for all I know.

Local Scientist Hails Trump Trade Deal with Mexico!!!
(((Actually there is no deal,,,just more talk)))
‘’’After a year of tussling with Canada and Mexico over trade issues, President Donald Trump has announced a tentative deal with Mexico to replace the much-maligned North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Many important details are unknown, in part because they remain to be negotiated. But the centerpiece of the agreement—a set of new and complex rules constraining trade in the automobile industry—could be problematic for the US auto sector, and for Mexico and Canada as well. At the least, the new rules will raise the price of autos for US consumers.’’’

    The sign:
My first reaction is “Who uses stencils anymore?” Stencils? No overspray on the edges of the letters either, so the letters were taped down properly and with relative proper spacing between the words. The only ones I know who used stencils, have stencils, and the words pretty much arranged correctly on poster board signs are folks in theatrical art departments.
Yep, had to be someone with a art department background. The blue used has a tincture of effervesce, not to mention the double faced taped used to mount the sign. Very clean. A deplorable would have used duct tape or ugly masking tape on cardboard, not nice clean poster board. No, the mischief maker was someone who had experience in art departments for theatrical productions, one has readily available access to such tools of the trade. A deplorable would have used ugly black makers as well, not to mention spelling Berkely incorrectly.
So, after all these decades, a sign magically appears right in front of the Miners Foundry on a night a theathrical production comes to Nivarna City to dis bitter clinger Righties using the word ‘patriot’. Interesting. And it took over ten days for our Popinjay to vent his outrage. And it was about 10 days ago that FB removed The Last American Patriot page and all links to the site from the internet. Coincidence?
Well, I would have called the Governor after having the Nevada City PD view any surveillance video in vicinity and dusting for fingerprints. Such violence cannot be tolerated in a civil society. Then I definitely would have forwarded this hate crime to the Southern Poverty Law Centet so they could have entered the Miners Foundry and Nevada City in their database as a hotbed or hatred and violent crimes. The SPLA does indeed provide the FBI with information when such dispicable dastardly assaults on our civil liberties occurs. But, that’s just me.
Me thinks thou doth protest too much. Waited 10-11 days? Interesting. More proof that the frontal lobe does not develop decades into adulthood by certain folks from certain specific regions.

Wasn’t Punch……”your” was used in the possessive instead of “you’re”. Punchy hasn’t been able to make the distinction. “Berkeley” was spelled correctly so that leaves out Todd and Walt. I think your (I see what I did there) hypothesis has some merit!

    4) It’s BS.
I probably wasn’t clear enough, but some local woman posted a story, yesterday or the day before, making the exact same claim. Same misspellings, on a traffic sign, somewhere else in the county, actual event happening several months ago (assuming that the story is true).
    Story:
    https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/love-and-kierkegaard-in-the-age-of-trump/#!
That very day, Paul pops up and claims that he had heard of this happening. An hour or so later the story morphed into actually seeing the dreaded sign. Of course, at this point the sign was spotted by KVMR about 10 days ago or so, but wasn’t mentioned until yesterday.
I only play a lawyer on TV, but I doubt this would hold up in court.

Re the stenciled sign. Stencils imply that more than one of these signs were made at their manufacture. I asked PaulE last week if any more of these signs of rightwing violence were to be found in the county. At the time he was not aware of any more of these. So the question is, where are the rest, and where did they come from and when, since its a little strange that someone in Nevada County would make a stencil for just one sign.
