Think about it. Trump’s lawyers are not preparing for defending against any obstruction of justice….which became the new mantra from the the Unhinged Leftinistas with underdeveloped frontal lobes as soon as they dropped the Russian Collusion story.
Meuller has interviewed hundreds of witnesses, scores of people in the White House, and poured over a million pages given to the Meuller freely by the White House. The Meuller team knows more about the Trump Campaign and everything that went on during and after the campaign than any campaign manager or individual of group of staff could ever know. It’s humanly impossible. Meuller has every e-mail, everything from the campaign. Yet, through all this, there has not been one leak, not one sentence uttered, not one charge that even hints of criminal activity dealing with the Trump Campaign colluding or conspiring with Russia. Trump did not need any reason to fire Comey and Rosenstein wrote up the reasons to fire the corrupt sleazebag.Maybe Trump fired Comey because of all the pressure growing from the left to do so.
So, it’s down to a perjury trap or nuthin’.
While all the experts are saying Trump’s lawyers are doing it wrong or not helping Trump, they are thinking like defense lawyers. Trump has given Meuller’s team all documents requested. They have made overtures that appear they are willing to let Trump meet with Meuller. They have set conditions and parameters of such a meeting, topics to be discussed, and even timetables. Before SCOTUS, Trump”s team can argue successfully that Trump has cooperated with the Special Council, made reasonable accommodations, provided his staff and lawyers to provide everything that the Meuller team needs to know. Meuller does not need to meet with the President. Meuller has everything he needs….except a perjury trap. Everything. Think SCOTUS, not defense against silly obstruction of justice charges. By definition, Trump cannot obstruct himself, being head of Justice.
Even Comey’s testimony before Congress about the memo’s he wrote was full of nice words insinuating Collusion with the Russians, obstruction of justice, and bad behavior by Trump, yet those very same Comey memos contained zero what he was yapping about before the Congressional hearing, lol.
Yeah, the pressure grows for Trump to meet with Meuller. Pressure from whom? The media? Meuller’s team is desperately trying not to be left empty handed, buff
naked in the wind and out in the cold.
Heck, they even had FBI informant Stefen Halpin approach George Papadopoulos, Carter Page, and others trying them to get to say something, anything, that will make their case.
Papadopoulos was also approached during the campaign by Stefan Halper, a former University of Cambridge professor who spied on the Trump campaign as an FBI informant.
Halper flew Papadopoulos to London in September 2016 and paid him a $3,000 honorarium to write a policy paper about Mediterranean energy issues. Papadopoulos has told associates that Halper asked him during one conversation if he knew anything about Russian hacking of Democrats’ emails.
Unbeknownst to Papadopoulos, Halper had also been in contact with Carter Page, another Trump campaign adviser. Halper and Page remained in contact through September 2017.
Now Meuller is whinning before the court that they did not get anything from Papadopoulos, even though he cooperated. Not very professional. Where’s the beef?

“… right to lie under oath.” I was not aware of any such ‘right’. Anyone inviting me into such a discussion should understand what I believe to be a ‘right’, or offer a contending definition that is just as operational as mine. Otherwise we wind up blathering with neither or none of the parties knowing what the other is talking about. My definition is here –

Now I’m ready for anyone else’s contribution, and then we can even talk about something logically perverse ad the right to lie under oath. (Then why take the oath?)

Two things we have not mentioned, so I will in passing.
1). Weinstein accuser Asia Aregento paid $370,000 to a 17 year old boy in CA after he accused her of sexual assault. Hush money. Gave the minor alcohol and did the nasty thing to the child. Age of consent in CA is 18 years old, is it not? Anyway, besides the oblivious irony of Asia being one of the most vocal accusers of Weinstein, here is another irony: they met on the film, “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.”

argued Kavanaugh in the law-review article. He then asserted that “the indictment and trial of a sitting President, moreover, would cripple the federal government, rendering it unable to function with credibility in either the international or domestic arenas. Such an outcome would ill serve the public interest, especially in times of financial or national security crisis.”

No Punch, you misunderstand… the President is the head of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government which includes the Justice Department, all the Federal District Attorneys. BECAUSE of this, the Pres is not ABOVE the law, but it cannot be the Justice Department that does the investigation, the judging and the sentencing. THAT’S the duty of the House and the Senate.
Really, Punch, your TDS is blinding you.

Oh Dr.Rebane, Dr Rebane! George. Yes or no?
Dr. Rebane, Trump ain’t going under oath. Period. Ball is in Meuller’s court. He has to subpoena Trump and SCOTOS here we come. So, Meuller will dance around with Rudy and counsel to Trump waiting for the carpet bombing from the press and “experts”, but Meuller is going to have to fish or cut bait. Meuller does not want to lay a subpoena on Trump cause he knows he will lose. This ain’t a civil issue.
Also, and quite importantly, the Special Counsel has to abide by the Justice Department’s standards, procedures, guidelines, and practices, per the Special Counsel statute. That includes these two memorandums from the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel, which advises the Executive Branch (President) on Constitutional matters. Of course, Meuller has not been following the rules so why should he start now. 🙂

re Paul 851pm – I strongly advise no one to take PaulE’s expansions and interpretations of what I have stated as having any connection to the meaning of what I have written. His 851pm is Exhibit A. There the man does not understand the two-step procedure under which a sitting president is brought to justice for a criminal offense. Neither Kavanaugh nor I have claimed the President to be ‘above the law’; there is a practical purpose of governance that requires a sitting president to be first removed from office before being indicted, as would then the rest of us in a court with appropriate jurisdiction. Such nuances are very difficult to grasp for some people, hence the sophomoric simplifications such as ‘he’s above the law’.

No, not unless you subscribe to New York City underworld rules… that it ain’t against the law until or unless you get caught. Works for city, county, state, federal and Congressional jurisdictions.
The only downside is your political wet dream about Trump in chains, being frog-marched out of the White House, ain’t gonna happen. It also appears to the smart money that the “Russia investigation” will come up empty.
Tell us, Paul… when Mueller was appointed… how many weeks did you think it would take before you were free of Trump, with President Pence in charge or, in your wildest dreams, Hillary proclaimed President by acclimation of the Praetorian Guards?

A quote from his lawyers.
“It remains our position that the President’s actions here, by virtue of his position as the chief law enforcement officer, could neither constitutionally nor legally constitute obstruction because that would amount to him obstructing himself, and that he could, if he wished, terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon if he so desired.”

Paul quotes Trump’s lawyers concerning the president’s authority as chief law enforcement officer. The quote is only in regards to a specific federal investigation.
That hardly constitutes a belief in being able to do ‘anything he wants’ with no repercussions.

Shadow banning and censoring makes more since now. Remember during Inauguration Weekend when the Dem big donors and George Soros funded groups led by David Brock met together in FL to plot the strategy to overthrow Trump? FB and social media was part of the plan.
“The memo contains plans for defeating Trump through impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”
