[Ideology – n. A structured and communicable belief system that in its best expression is composed of tenets defendable by and malleable to reason. Ideologue – a person who is willing to communicate his ideology. A more dubious definition of an ideologue is “a person who zealously advocates an ideology”. The adverb 'zealously' denotes doing something in an "ardent, devoted, or diligent manner". Hence, I confess again that I am an ideologue. But then what does one call a person who advocates an ideology in a non-zealous manner? gjr]

Pretty sure you are wrong again Punch! n the four or so years I’ve been posting here I’m not sure that you’ve “made” your point more than two, maybe three times!
As George suggested …..you really need to up your game!

We’ve circled the subsidies barn too many times here. I’m not for them, and especially not for the kind of planned bandaid subsidies required to keep farmers whole who will be impacted by Trump’s tariffs. I’ll have more to say about tariffs soon.

What server Punch? The one that the FBI has never seen? The one with all those classified e-mails/info that she was never prosecuted for having/protecting? The one that when asked why she “wiped” it, she snidely responded “Wiped it, like with a cloth?”

“What server Punch?”
I think that it’s that server that dem Russkies done broke into what with their mad hacker skillz on the direct orders of Putin after he and Trump had a hooker party in Moscow. Maybe it’s the other server that the GRU broke into with a special ops team to deliver directly to a safe house at Trump Tower. I’m not sure anymore.
Now that bastard Trump doesn’t even want to get into a proper war with the Russians. After all, we have the United State protectorate of Syria to worry about.
lol. The ‘Progressives’ have sounded like the Weekly World News for a couple of years now. They have that special outrage that only the truly guilty can gin up.

IN the ‘we ain’t no grifters” dept.:
A District Court Judge’s ruling allows a lawsuit brought by the attorneys general of Maryland and DC, against trump under the emoluments clause of the Constitution to go forward.
Numerous reports indicate that foreign governments paid to use Trump properties and planned to do so increasingly as a way of ingratiating themselves with his administration. The ruling stated that emoluments clause “was intended to embrace and ban anything more than de minimis profit, gain, or advantage offered to a public official in his private capacity as well, wholly apart from his official salary” and as such this would apply to Trump’s receipt of profits from foreign or domestic governments through his hotel in D.C. Who would of ever imagined Jean Claude Junker saying this;
Juncker said he had an “intention to make a deal today and we made a deal today. We have identified a number of areas on which to work together, work towards zero tariffs on industrial goods. That was my main intention, for those to come down to zero tariffs on industrial goods.”
As U.S. soybean farmers have struggled against retaliatory tariffs, Juncker said the EU “can import more soybeans from the U.S. and it will be done.” He said the two sides also agreed to work together to reform the World Trade Organization, which Trump has vehemently criticized as being unfair to the U.S.

Hey, Bobbie, remember that time Krazy Qaddafi and his harem and entourage with huge tents and animals came to NYC, the late Colonel Q?? He could not kind a place to rent for his address to the U.N. General Assembly. No problem. Trump rented the grounds of his hotel to him. Charged him a lot of money, “a lot of money”. An offer he couldn’t refuse. That be Trump. He will rent to anybody and he don’t care which bathroom you choose to use. They are paying for those rooms, for sure. Some are living full time there.. Not a bad business that slumlord business, not bad at all…only if the economy is humming. Shocking, is it not?

Facebook stock is crashing. Couldn’t happen to a nicer company.
Over at Crabby’s, there’s an advert for Earl’s table at Summer Nights in Nevada City, tonite is the last nite.
There’s an interesting pricing policy… fascists pay double:
The f-scale is an interesting test that dates from 1950; at 2.4, I was labeled “a liberal airhead”. The US average at the time was 3.84, men a bit higher, women a bit lower. Above a 4.5 was considered to be receptive to fascist thought, above 5.5 to be card carrying.
Good luck to Crabby, there weren’t many stopping by with cash for him last week. General Barstool was keeping an eye on him for an hour so so, or so he claims.

Gregory, Is he still peddling those tee shirts that one winter got rained on in his garage? Quite the winter. I grabbed a dry one from the top of one box, the others forget it. Probably all dried out by now. Bought me an autographed book as well. Looked like a Gary Larson book …from the outside. Guess I should read it one of these days. Gave it to a daughter, but I see it made its way back to me…unread. It’s in some box somewhere in a dry place, hint hint. 🙂
That tee shirt is still hanging in the closet I bought from Crabbman. Only worn once or twice, like new, barely worn. Oh, it was too small. Me bad for being in a hurry or grabbing a dry one that was too small. Too tight and I don’t do a lot of black. Will work in a pinch. Afraid to wash it.. Don’t need no shrinkage. Nice artwork, though. Pops out. There is a full moon over Nevada City every night or something like that.
Now I can say,”I already gave….years ago.” And I got a great discount. Gotta play the part. Bossanova.

Time to eat our own.
States would receive 10 percent of the revenues for “low-income” households, the definition of which always allows for political favoritism. Another 5 percent would go to states, cities, and tribes for mitigation of coastal flooding; accordingly, the middle of the country would subsidize the coasts. Is it an accident that Representative Curbelo’s Florida district comprises Monroe County and parts of Miami-Dade County? (As an aside, significant parts of Miami-Dade were built on swamps elevated with fill, which over time is subsiding. Are GHG emissions responsible for that too?
The bill would also impose a border-tax adjustment (tariff) on imported goods equal to the increased costs paid by “comparable U.S. products.” This provision will yield an enormous expansion in the federal bureaucracy, as “comparability” will have to be defined and measured across a vast array of goods. Can anyone believe that political pressures will not affect such computations?
