[Ideology – n. A structured and communicable belief system that in its best expression is composed of tenets defendable by and malleable to reason. Ideologue – a person who is willing to communicate his ideology. A more dubious definition of an ideologue is “a person who zealously advocates an ideology”. The adverb 'zealously' denotes doing something in an "ardent, devoted, or diligent manner". Hence, I confess again that I am an ideologue. But then what does one call a person who advocates an ideology in a non-zealous manner? gjr]

Trump is appealing to the low IQ of the Republicans (part of the dumbing down of America that George refers to) with his absurd statement that the Russians will intervene in this years election to favor the Democrats because he’s too tough on them
“I’m very concerned that Russia will be fighting very hard to have an impact on the upcoming Election. Based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me, they will be pushing very hard for the Democrats. They definitely don’t want Trump!” the Republican president wrote on Twitter.
Hmm, didn’t Putin himself say last week that he favored Trump in ’16 ?

From the article: “Security clearances are a valuable commodity.”
Hang on, I thought that people out of government with security clearances couldn’t see/hear secret things anymore. I wish everyone would get their stories straight.
If I were God-Emperor, I’d make all senior staff, agency heads, etc. sign a wide ranging non-compete/non-disclosure agreement with their pensions on the line. It just doesn’t seem healthy to have a former CIA chief go to work for Lockheed, CNN, or the Chinese. No doubt if they are a member of The Resistance, it becomes a free speech issue with all of the useful idiots kicking in their support.

Some responses to Trumps proposal to subsidise farmers for their losses due to the trade war he’s triggering. Crickets from RR supporters on this matter.
‘Like a Soviet-type economy’: GOP free traders unload on Trump:
The president’s $12 billion farm bailout gets an ugly reception among many Republicans in Congress.
“This is becoming more and more like a Soviet-type of economy here: Commissars deciding who’s going to be granted waivers, commissars in the administration figuring out how they’re going to sprinkle around benefits,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). “I’m very exasperated. This is serious.”
“Taxpayers are going to be asked to initial checks to farmers in lieu of having a trade policy that actually opens and expands more markets. There isn’t anything about this that anybody should like,” said Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 3 GOP leader. He suggested the new spending might need to be offset by cuts in other funding areas.

In a 2-1 ruling, the court found that the Second Amendment protects the right to openly carry a firearm in public for the purpose of self-defense. Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain was joined by Judge Sandra S. Ikuta in the majority while Judge Richard R. Clifton dissented. The majority reversed the lower court ruling that upheld Hawaii’s effective ban on all forms of gun carry in the state.
“For better or for worse, the Second Amendment does protect a right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense,” Judge O’Scannlain wrote for the majority. “We would thus flout the Constitution if we were to hold that, ‘in regulating the manner of bearing arms, the authority of [the State] has no other limit than its own discretion.’ While many respectable scholars and activists might find virtue in a firearms-carry regime that restricts the right to a privileged few, ‘the enshrinement of constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy choices off the table.’”

Gotta double dip this one from the SF media because it is a glimmer of reality in bagdad by the bay –
Americans have a constitutional right to carry guns openly outside the home, a federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled Tuesday on an issue that has divided federal courts and is likely headed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The 2-1 ruling by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a case from Hawaii may not last long — it was written by one of the court’s most conservative judges, Diarmuid O’Scannlain, whose previous decision striking down a California concealed-weapons law was overturned by the court’s liberal majority. But it highlights a Second Amendment issue the high court has sidestepped since 2008, when it ruled for the first time that the Constitution guarantees the right to possess a handgun at home for self-defense.

With all the hype building like a crescendo leading up to our little Townhall Meeting in Nirvana City for a talk about guns, the first thing that came out of the Presiding judge’s mouth is “We are not here to talk about the 2nd Amendment.” Ok, a discussion of guns in our community without discussing the law was kinda puzzling. I take it you support Trump using taxpayers money to subsidize farmers loses due to his failed trade policies. Here are some examples of Republican reactions:
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.).
“This is becoming more and more like a Soviet type of economy here: Commissars deciding who’s going to be granted waivers, commissars in the administration figuring out how they’re going to sprinkle around benefits, I’m very exasperated. This is serious.”
Sen. John Thune of South Dakota
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) said Trump is giving farmers “golden crutches,” while Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) said “this bailout compounds bad policy with more bad policy.” Toomey and GOP Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona and Bob Corker of Tennessee said their legislation to tie the president’s hands on tariffs should pick up new steam now that the Trump administration is distorting the market.”
“This is what we feared all along, that these markets would be replaced by handouts,” Flake said. “You lose some of these markets, you lose them for good or a long time.”
“You put people in the poorhouse and provide them aid. What you need to do is not put them in the poorhouse,” Corker said. “They put in place a policy that requires farmers to go on welfare.”
there’s more but it’s plain to see that you support Trump as you always do.

Oh Punchy, I definitely support that. You made a good decision and I, for one, will not disagree with your choice. Cheers.

MSNBC’s Hardball was one such place with host Chris Matthews asserting that he [Sessions] “join[ed] in chants of ‘lock her up’” while panelists lost their minds over “crazy” and “troubling” behavior by Sessions and students, respectively, that should have led news programs and “calls for investigation for his conduct.”

Darn. That’s one story I wish was true. Imagine Sessions waving his fist and yelling “Lock her up”. Oh, I wish it were not just more fakenews. My respect for Sessions would have got off the cellar floor. Oh well. I can pretend it happened, can’t I?
