In answer to the question posed in the introduction to this sandpile, I find Trump unvarnished approach refreshing. The typical diplomatic approach by the highly educated political elite has not produced much, other than allow the deep state pond scum to keep their jobs. While Trump does not fit the diplomatic model he is getting things done that the political elite pond scum has been unable or unwilling to do. Yes, I know it is making everyone uncomfortable, including the stiff nosed EU ministers. Rules are rules if you make them you follow them, or change the rules. Trump has a street-bred sense of fairness, no stiffing those who are paying their NATO allocations, by the deadbeat nations.

Here’s an astonishing bit of news from Russian TV. the word is out for sure.
Julia Davis, who runs the Russian Media Monitor website, reports via Twitter that Association for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation President Tatyana Parkhalina told the Russian “60 Minutes” news program on Wednesday that she never dreamed she’d see an American president do so much to undermine his own country’s longest standing alliances.
“I never thought I’d live to see this!” she exclaimed, according to Davis’ translation. “Neither the USSR nor Russia, who tried many times to drive the wedge between transatlantic allies, but Washington is doing everything to break down the foundations of transatlantic alliance and unity.”

By all means, rely on a “Russian” TV babe Paul Emery. Maybe Trump is colluding with her and maybe looking for a tryst tonight in Helsinki.

I can’t say that it matters. I think what you are seeing is an inevitable re-shifting of political alliances, a thing which always happens over time.
It usually doesn’t happen gradually but is more of a kind of seismic slip resulting from pent-up forces.
I do have to take some issue with our famous Cold Warrior, Mr Emery in quoting “country’s longest standing alliances.”
The US’s longest standing and strong alliances (and there’s different kind of alliances) tend to be with the Anglosphere, not Germany. In the near term, I can see where even the UK potentially edges out of NATO as it ends up being a German-run EU army (complete with broomstick guns). Going further forward, I expect even that will fray as vibrant diversity does it’s damage. There just isn’t going to be that much common ground between the UK Caliphate and a Spanish-speaking United States unless they can each turn it around and rebuild common internal cultures.
I do have to like that the GEOTUS hammered on the German dependency on Russian energy for a bit. Too funny. You can just imagine all the financial skeletons in that closet.
Trump is a damn genius. He sees the rot in the systems and goes right after it. Maybe divine providence is real.

“We have been clear that firms working in the Russian energy export pipeline sector are engaging in a line of business that carries sanctions risk,” a spokesman for the U.S. State Department told Reuters.
“We believe it (the pipeline) would undermine Europe’s overall energy security and stability by providing Russia another tool for the political coercion of European countries, especially Ukraine. Russia understands that this project is dividing Europe, and is using that to its advantage.”

Looks like the Senate seat in Nevada just got safer for the incumbent R –
Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller is using former President Barack Obama’s infamous “you didn’t build that” line to mock his Democratic opponent’s claims to have started her own business.
It comes amid news reports, including in the Reno Gazette-Journal, about the lack of public records backing up Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen’s repeated claims she built her own business in Nevada.
But the stories have said there’s no evidence Rosen had local or state business licenses, employees or even a business name.
“You didn’t build that,” Obama was heard saying in the middle of the Heller ad.

Given the way that language evolves, I was just musing about how many years it’ll be before the phrase ‘the n word’ will be considered utterly vile reprehensible evil a firing offense.
Maybe the answer is a national contest to find the new phrase. We can’t simply strike the letter ‘n’ from the language else everyone will sound like they have a speech impediment. Something like ‘the word that starts with that letter that comes after m’ is a bit long. I’m willing to take input on this important matter.

I liked it when Gowdy responded to Struck with, “That was a great answer to a question no one asked.” Despite the Dems loosing their minds with obstructing the questioning, Trey set the foundation of FBI bias. Quite a foundation. Peter talked about impeachment before he interviewed on single person while on Meuller’s team, lol.
Nader says must not go there, must not look that way, must not dare to approach the subject of the lead investigator’s bias. Of all of the tens of thousands of FBI investigators, Peter was the chosen one to lead the Clinton e-mail and Meuller’s investigation. There was no bias, end of story, ROFLMAO.
In a related story…..
“While lawyers at Justice have previously helped out with past Supreme Court nominees, asking U.S. attorneys to do so is seen as unusual.
Rosenstein has faced pressure from congressional Republicans over his role in overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Democrats have raised the Mueller probe in the context of Kavanaugh’s nomination, arguing that he should not be confirmed because he could end up making decisions on the probe itself.
Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores told the Times that “the scope of the production of executive branch documents we’ve been asked for is many, many times as large,” as previous Supreme Court nominees.
Rosenstein said in the email that he expected he would need the equivalent of 100 full-time lawyers to work on Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing. The work will reportedly be supervised by the DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy in Washington.”

You can teach a fakenewsman something after all but it has to come with physical danger –
CBS News reporter David Begnaud traveled to Roma, Texas, this week to cover a story about Texas landowners getting notices about a proposed border wall. While shooting a segment along the river border, he was shocked to see a group of illegal immigrants making their way across the river in broad daylight a few hundred yards from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry. He was even more shocked when a man with a two-way radio approached them and told them to leave.
“I’ll tell you, we were scared,” he said. “It was ominous to listen to him and he clearly was letting us know that it was time to get out.”
He said residents he talked to in Roma want to see more border security. He said they want more Border Patrol agents, equipment and modern technology.

Loved Peter’s statement that he is an unbiased patriot defending the US is laughable. His proof he offered in his defense? He did not leak to the media!! Well, that says it all.
Hmmm. Leaking to the press details of an open investigation is against the law. Feigned outrage time. How dare someone question his texts. He can explain that away! It’s all about Kahn, the Gold Star Dad whose Daddy was a business partner and close personal friend of Huma’s grandpappy. Small world. Loved the way Peter channeled the election campaign highlights as his reason for being biased, but really unbiased. Wonder when he will bring up the disabled reporter from the NYT?
Peter called Trump supporters ignorant hillbillies, but he did not mean what he said. Dance, Peter, dance! It’s all Putin’s fault, let’s not look at the corruption in his investigation of Trump. Ah nevermind. Interesting to ask “why” the Dems are 100% all in running interference. Why, why, why?
The Dems on today’s hearings are appalled that the R’s are asking questions about text messages instead of the Western Alliance falling apart! Hmmm. Excuse me, fine anti-American Democrats, the hearing is all about the texts messages. That is the purpose of these hearing and why Peter is testifying and answering questions about his text messages, duh.
It ain’t about Khan, the Gold State lawyer whose speciality is in obtaining hard to get VISA for Islamics, or NATO, or immigration. It’s all about your texts, Peter. Dance Dems, Dance!

Asked about pressures on countries with weaker finances, he said, “We have many wealthy countries with us today but we have some that aren’t so wealthy and they did ask me if they could buy the military equipment, and could I help them out, and we will help them out a little bit,” he told a news conference.
“We are not going to finance it for them but we will make sure that they are able to get payments and various other things so they can buy – because the United States makes by far the best military equipment in the world: the best jets, the best missiles, the best guns, the best everything.”

“We now need to codify Roe v. Wade, which will actually increase the protections in New York. God forbid they do what they intend to do. I want to get it done before the Supreme Court does that because I don’t want any gaps in a woman’s right to protection. We have a better legal case when the Supreme Court acts because I will sue when the Supreme Court acts,” Mr. Cuomo said in a statement, according to Rochester TV station WHEC.
The statement caused much head-scratching among conservatives, for a number of reasons, not the least being … how does one sue the Supreme Court? And where?
“Did he really say that? Whom would he sue, and where would he find a court able to overrule the Supreme Court?” wondered Fox News Channel political analyst Brit Hume.

Jason Furman, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Barack Obama, argued on CNBC Thursday that the economy is growing even faster than the commonly used government figure suggests.
CNBC’s Sara Eisen said people at the network were surprised to see the argument being argued by an Obama administration official.
“I like to think of myself as an economist who looks at the economic data,” Furman said.
“Unfortunately, the numbers published by the government aren’t the single most accurate way to measure growth,” he added.
