[Here's the next batch of fresh sand. I find it interesting how the intersection of what interests me and RR's commenters goes up and down. It appears that the interests of our most voluble readers pretty much track the news cycle, often leaving unattended more fundamental and systemic events/trends that impact our lives and country. Because I have always walked a path less tread, for me this variance is noteworthy but not a consternation, since RR has always been a record of my observations and interpretations from the last great century of Man. In sum, I think of my weblog as a letter to my family and the future which, of course, includes the contents of its comment streams. gjr]

I know,, I know… That’s DIFFERENT. You can’t blame Trump.

Oooo, a commie upset the next democratic speaker of the house and opened a district to flip to R!
Soon after The Associated Press called the race, the New York City branch of the DSA tweeted congratulations to Ocasio-Cortez, saying that her victory proved “that working class people are hungry for a voice in politics.”
The National Republican Campaign Committee also celebrated the defeat of “poor Joe Crowley.”
“House Democrats, hoping for a post-Pelsoi era, are now left leaderless,” NRCC spokesman Matt Gorman said. “The only person happier tonight than Nancy Pelosi is the NRCC.”

Hey you deplorables;
With a growing climate of violence directed at Trump administration members and supporters, Republicans can take solace in the fact that they held on to their guns.
A gauntlet has clearly been dropped by Democrats like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who used a weekend speech to encourage her followers to drive Trump Cabinet members from the public square. NBC News quoted Waters saying, “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
Buy guns. Vote. Violence is the next stop on the #MadMaxine slippery slope. We WILL fight back.
In a second tweet, he reacted to the insanity of leftists at this point in time, writing, “The one thing these insane scum have made clear is this: buy more guns. Vote. Vote. Vote.”

No, actually I meant I am anti what happened to Charlie Hedbo.. I could give a hoot about the froggie snail eating Frenchies.. It’s all about the fact that I am a man of peace and I do not like Islamic violence, such as the way their behavioral proclivities messed up perfectly good company holiday party in San Bernardino, a California town on old Route 66.
Much to my dismay, violence is the earmark of Islamics, I wish it was not so. And not just Charlie Hudbo per se, but it kinda bothered me when the big target that day was the Jewish hangout “”market” that was packed with old folks, Hebrews, if you caught my drift. It’s akin to a senior center with food in the front. That seemed so wrong. I am anti that kind of stuff.
Now, the last thing you want to hear when you walk into a watering hole and belly up to the bar is someone with a lisp asking, “Excuse me, is this stool taken?” Strike that. That last thing you want hear is when you belly up to the bar and someone starts yelling, ‘Allahu Akbar’ like they are bringing up a big ole lugie from the back of their throats
Opps. Strike that. There are a couple of things that could be worse that that. Bellying up to the bar and a bunch of crazy liberals running amok intent on harassing ya when you are trying to let your hair down, or worse, being so drunk you wake up with their Queen.

Here is the lamestream media projections on the tax cuts (that’s you bored georgeman –
Of course, you say. It’s entirely logical to suppose that by slashing the top corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% — a 40% reduction — and by giving one-time breaks to those companies that had piles of cash sitting overseas, money would flow back into the U.S. After all, Trump’s 21% tax rate is now lower than the current OECD average corporate tax rate of 25%.
But last year, when the tax cuts were still a topic of conversation, some in the media seemed to have trouble with this idea.
“GOP tax bill and overseas profits: Beware the hype,” ran a headline on the PolitiFact website.
“Why the GOP tax plan to repatriate offshore profits may flop,” said a CBS News topper.
“AP FACT CHECK: Trump and the mirage of overseas profits,” yelled the AP’s not-so-subtle headline.
What happened in the real world not the as they wish for failure world-
All told, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported, some $305.6 billion returned to the U.S. from overseas accounts. That’s a $1.2 trillion annual rate, and far more than the $35 billion one year before.

Matthews on Monday pointed out that when pro-amnesty activists and the legacy media blast Trump for being cruel to illegal immigrants, “it makes Donald Trump the last man standing against illegal immigration… the last man standing against open borders… the last one not for doing absolutely nothing to regulate immigration.”
The Hardball host said that Trump’s critics are “so upset about stoping illegal immigration Trump’s way, they are against stoping it any other way.”
He said Trump successfully gets “Democrats to scream bloody murder when Trump does something to stop illegal immigration… and it will sound to many people that Democrats are defending illegal immigration, that they are for open borders.”
“It’s how trump got elected,” Matthews said. “It’s how he’s clearly set his course to get reelected—using Democrats to help him.”
In a Tuesday CNN column, Ronald Brownstein also pointed out that it is risky for Democrats to so vehemently oppose Trump’s enforcement policies.
“Americans have consistently indicated they want immigration laws upheld and that they oppose policies that connote open borders or appear to tolerate lawbreaking; that can be a risk for Democrats who too sweepingly criticize immigration enforcement,” Brownstein wrote.

“Yet Waters contends, “I have nothing to do with the way people decide to protest. Protest is the democratic way as long as it is peaceful. I believe in peaceful protest.” Meanwhile, Rep. Steve Scalise was nearly killed a year ago by a deranged socialist. In response to Waters’s injunction, he stated: “Civility and respect always prevails over harassment and disrespect.” One of Scalise’s critics responded by labeling him “Nazi puke,” while another fumed: “Too bad you don’t have to s—t in a bag for the rest of your life. It would be fitting punishment for a monstrous inhumane degenerate such as yourself.” Stay classy and tolerant, lefties. This and last weekend’s protests are exactly the kind of disgusting rancor that Waters has fomented”
Alas, Trump Derangement Syndrome might be terminal. According to Fox News, “Some Democrats are reportedly concerned that public appeals to ‘absolutely harass’ Trump administration officials will come back to hurt them in the polls and benefit Republicans.” Democrats sabotaged themselves when they botched the 2016 presidential election. They might just go back-to-back with the midterms.

It seems to me like an effective response by the unions is to institute some sort of public shaming for the non-payers. The Red Guard at the universities might be the place to start.
It might be too much to simply publish their names, but the kind of thing you could do is to issue a car window sticker (with a year on it) when you pay your dues. Stick that sucker on your car, and no one will break the windows or flatten the tires. It could work I tell ya.

What worries me the most about our Judicial branch, SCOTUS in particular is the FOUR that consistently vote as “authoritarians. The left is all about the government control and mandates for behavior. Going back to the land-use (Celio?) decision a few years ago and on to now. These four vote for more control while the FIVE vote for freedom. This is why our system is on the edge. On the legal front, it sounds like one district federal judge can issue an univerisal injustion, instead of simply granted relief to the litigating plaintiff. One judge can set national policy, overriding Congress and the Executive Branch? By what authority? Instead of having Constitution questions percolate up through the courts, one judge can put a stop to it and nip Constitutional questions in the bud.
It also sounds like Judge Thomas is almost begging someone to file suit to end blanket universal injunctions. Maybe some State AG.
——————
“Thomas began his concurrence by noting that absent statutory authority from Congress, lower courts have no power to issue universal injunctions. This is the extent of power Congress holds over the lower courts. And in fact, as Thomas observed in a footnote, even if Congress granted them such authority, “courts would need to consider whether that statute complies with the limits that Article III places on the authority of federal courts.”
The lower courts acknowledge no such boundaries on their powers. But Thomas makes an important point. Allowing lower court judges to issue blanket policy prescriptions transforms their role from granting equitable relief in a legitimate case or controversy to a legislative and executive authority with the power to issue blanket mandates and vetoes on broad policies. Thomas noted that until recently, the judiciary rightfully viewed its role as the power “to render judgments in individual cases” and “did not believe that courts could make federal policy, and they did not view judicial review in terms of ‘striking down’ laws or regulations.”
Thomas concluded that “universal injunctions are legally and historically dubious. If federal courts continue to issue them, this Court is dutybound to adjudicate their authority to do so.”

Justice Kennedy retires

Kennedy was a good justice.
Had normal rules reigned back when he was nominated to the bench he wouldn’t have been nominated, as Bork would have sailed in as obviously qualified.

fish at 9:32 – the ‘The Portland Ungendering Research Initiative’?

Their web site is currently down due to “safety concerns. We are currently investigating threats made toward our members and designing a more secure website.”
Well – if your initiative is to go around ‘ungendering’ folks, then you might expect just a little push back. I realize Portlandia is a little off the edge in sanity, but probably most of the good citizens of that area really, really would like to keep their ‘genders’ intact.

So Kennedy is out – can you imagine the coming spittle spewing and mouth frothing from the left? Whoever gets nominated by Trump to replace Kennedy will instantly become the most vile and hate-filled monster to stride the earth.

This gives lie to the claim “agency fees” just covered cost of collective bargaining:

If those fees had been set at the cost of providing services to non-union members, there would be no loss of funds to spread around at election time.

Just noticed that Trump is down by 9 in the Pubber leaning Rasmussen Poll. That was before his remarkable flop on the immigration bill he pushed on the House that couldn’t even get Republican support. Things are going to be fun this fall.

So Chuck Schumer demands that Trump can’t seat a new SCOTUS. Well until “after” the election. Remember? “O” wasn’t allowed to.
Sorry Chuck, Trump ain’t up for re-election. Your “Biden rule” has no teeth.

Yo Walt, was just thinking about ya. This Wassername-Anwan case really has our interest, especially since it is sooooo tightly kept under wraps. All Dems. News blackout. Guess that makes us ignorant and uniformed. Debbie’s own brother is the led FBI investigator in Florida. Go figure.Anyway, nothing but crumbs, but better than nothing. Appears that Anwan fellow has been dipping his wick into more than just one Dem Congresslady.

Oh, as a bonus, ‘MSNBC Tells Followers They Must Harass Trump Supporters Or They Are Complicit In Genocide.’ Oh my. Us Deplorables are complicit in genocide? One must assume they are talking about genocide of little brown children. Or maybe they were referring to our betters, the smart beautiful people who go through boxes of Kleenex by the case like there is no tomorrow.

Oops……more of that anti Muslim animus RL was concerned about
A Houston business owner was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly hired a hitman to kill a police officer who gave him too many nuisance tickets.
In an elaborate ruse, police played along with the scheme and went so far as to fake the officer’s death before arresting 47-year-old Mohammed Mohamed and charging him with solicitation of capital murder, Chief Art Acevedo said Tuesday.
