“Grass Valley is a majority democrat district and Miller beat a true progressive democrat.”
Hmmm. Then GV is a microcosm of the Democrat Party’s fight between the smaller Progressive radial wing socialists and the regular half-way sane (for brief moments) “Democrats”. Like the California Democratic State Party choosing the former Big Pharma lobbyist to head up the state party over that very progressive outspoken black woman who HH absolutely adored and voted for. Spoke her language, but I digress Like Tom Perez winning the DNC chair over that Louie Louie Minister Farrakhan Nation of Islam loving black Muslim Congresspeople from Michigan or somewhere. Like Galvin Newsome beating out more progressive candidates. Opps, strike that one. They are all progressives Dems running for Gov. in CA. Ok, like Hillary beating Bernie, like Doug Jones being the Dems only real chance in Alabama…. I am beginning to see a pattern emerging. The true progressives just don’t got the numbers yet. Maybe Obama was right when he said he arrived on the scene 10-20 year too early. Just a flash in the pan, evaporating like the morning mist.
Come to think about it, McGovern did not do very well either in that anti-war Liberal revolution change the world movement going on. Much to ponder. Could the Progressive takeover be all hat and no cattle? Could it be that all those loud vocal energized young people normally have a 13% Voter turn out rate? Is that all there is to a fire?
    Nah. Close, but no cigar.

That Bernie is something else. What I do like about Bernie is he leaves no doubt on where he stands., verbally. Tells it like he sees it. Sure, a millionaire with 3 houses decrying capitalism is kinda absurd, not to mention blaming some conspiracy by evil enemies because the Feds are investigating and indicting his wife for fraud (lawyers are expensive!), and the nepotism thang with his daughter is rather unsightly for all the gravy money she is raking in…..but we won’t talk about that.
Interesting to note that not only more and more young people think (and believe) socialism is a better system, recent surveys say they are now leaning and believing communism is better than capitalism…or socialism, ROFMAO. Guess we know what college professors are teaching our impressionable youths.

Punchy Paul, you’ve shown no evidence you’ve added up any numbers.
Here’s a couple more… the Attorney General Race. Less than 50% of the people who voted in Nevada County voted for any Democrat for AG. Incumbent Becerra got 37.7% (a plurality) of the votes, including the Nun of the Above undervotes.
The incumbent Secretary of State, Padilla, got a mere plurality in the county… 43%.
Insurance Commissioner is an interesting race… Steve Poizner won the plurality in the county as a decline to state. He was formerly the Insurance Commissioner… as a Republican. He was part of the John Kasich for president campaign. Sounds like a Republican in independent’s clothing.
In general, because the statewide offices will go to the one dominant party of the one party state, they don’t attract serious and competitive R’s (not to mention LIB, Green or P&F party candidates), and demanding that the county is True Blue because “Eight out of ten statewide elections went to Democrats in Nevada County … Blue County” is both false and extremely silly.
You want to place a side bet on the Janus decision, punch?

Todd, I don’t know how you do it. You got both Punchy and the FUE going to bed thinking about you and waking up thinking about you…simultaneously. TDS has been revised to mean Todd Degrangement Syndrome. What are you going to do with all that free rent in their heads?
Try being nice. Say something like “Well, this election now affords Hilary Hodge to seek and obtain gainfull employment.” Growing Up is hard to do. Loved her quote in the Union.
He [Miller] has dedicated his life to this community and I am looking to do the same,” Hodge added. “That’s all I ever wanted to do for the community.”
Yep, being. SJW is a full time job. If you really want to help the community, get a real job, earn more mula, and pay more in taxes…for our community, of course. The more you earn andthe more you will be able to help the less fortunate…with your own money. What a concept. To quote Robin Williams, “Reality, what a concept.”
Not fair to have the wife do all the heavy lifting while you are working on figuring it out.:)
Kinda a paradox going on. Da FUE says most folks are moderate here, not extreme….rather Purple in Nevada County. Punchy says it IS a blue county, counting all the tin foil extremists in the mix. How does one reconcile that? Guess that ain’t a problem when both wake up thinking about Todd. Sweet. No offense, but I wake up thinking about other stuff myself. But, what do I know?
    ———————————————————————————————————-
Quote time….last one is a good stragegy to consider. The policy of appeasement has historically failed.
Yes, this is the Demo agenda: “Folks are trying to divide us and cut us up, pin us against each other — poor white folks against poor black folks, poor brown folks against poor black folks.” —Cory Booker
Hyper hypocrisy: “It’s a real lesson to any country; if you’re going to negotiate with Donald Trump it pays to have a nuclear bomb in your pocket.” —Nancy Pelosi, who still defends Barack Obama’s Iran deal
Wait — what about “my body, my choice”? “If you care about queer people ― or you yourself are queer ― you have absolutely no business eating at Chick-fil-A. Ever. It’s really that straightforward. … Yeah, I know, I know ― it sucks that we can’t have waffle fries. But you know what sucks even more? Not having equal rights and contributing to the profits of a company that wants to ensure you never do because it believes you’re fundamentally disordered or unnatural or sinful or some delightful combination of all three. … It’s time to choose where your loyalties lie ― with your community or with your stomach.” —The Huffington Post’s Noah Michelson
And last… “The Left has been having a tantrum over Chick-fil-A for years now. Chick-fil-A has just ignored them and made no effort to apologize or change its ways for the sake of the whining bullies. This is a model we all can follow.” —Matt Walsh

The Chinese are in no position to go full trade war with their biggest customer –
The Chinese economy is starting show its true colors again. The latest data indicated a slowdown almost across the board, and economists suspect this is just the beginning.
    Here are the stats:
Fixed asset investment (FAI) growth dropped again to an all-time low of 3.9% from 6.1% in April.
Infrastructure investment slowed from 11.3% to 2.3%.
Retail-sales growth registered the slowest pace in over 15 years, with car sales being the main drag as volume growth fell to 7.9% from 11.2%.
Export growth in CNY terms moderated to 3.2% in May from 3.7% in April.
“We have been waiting to see a notable slowdown in the Chinese economy, and it is finally here,” wrote Societe Generale’s Wei Yao in a note to clients after the data drop.

Punchy, stop reading… this is for everyone else. No peeking!
OK everyone else. It costs time and money to mount a campaign for a statewide office. A lot of time and money. At the moment there is NO ONE holding a state office that isn’t a Democrat. We are a one party state that is going to hell in a bucket while insisting the ride is enjoyable (it is fun to spend other people’s money, after all). By insisting only votes for statewide offices should be used to gauge the local Red to Blue conversion that some insist is inevitable, and not the more local offices, like Congressman or state senate or assemblycritter, to gauge who is living here.
As everyone but Punch realizes, insisting on using only statewide orifices to consider the true mix of Nevada County voters is to ignore the lesser nature of statewide candidates from the party that expects it cannot win after investing a year of their time and a few million bucks of money begged from other people… the folks running are often not running to win but to have a better position in their party conventions.
There is also the possibility that Punch realizes the above but is willing to push a lie to have better news from the election. He really wants to believe it.

I, too, have never ate at a Chick-fil-A because I could not tell you where one is located. Don’t even know if there is one in CA. Finally ate a 5 Guys burger joint…a few years ago. Found it by accident when I had to drive down to West Sac area to take care of some business and had some time to kill. Big helpings, good prices, and all the free peanuts I desired.
As far a Chick-fill-A goes, it ain’t like baking a wedding cake. They serve everybody and treat everybody with respect. So, the owner does not believe in homosexual marriage. Big deal. Tolerance is one thing, forcing people to cover the issue with slobbering kisses is another. Nothing to do with the employees or service or food. They close on Sundays to give every employee the day off, keeping with the owner’s religious beliefs, and not worried about the lost of income by closing Sundays.
Ironically, Chick-fil-A was open on a Sunday recently. They were holding a blood drive for the needed plasma for the victims of the Florida shoot shooting. The employees and public were encouraged to stop on by, free refreshments. Did the same thing after the Pulse Nightclub shooting….a place full of gay young people. Never hear about the employees suing the company for bad treatment or unfair discrimination, now do we?
I have never been to a Hobby Lobby either, solely because my days of buying art supplies and crafts are winding down and because I have no idea where one is. :). On occasion, I will bite the bullet and pay the high prices at Ben Franklin.
No, it’s the broadbrush herd mentality I oppose, not the gay or religious issues. Sure, I do boycott a couple of places, but I do it quietly and without fanfare. A personal choice.
During the run up to,the 2012 re-election campaign, I saw where Comcast was the number one contributor to the Obama Reelection campaign. Disturbed me, but that’s life. Later, as the election drew closer, they dropped to 4th on the list behind the lawyers and big banks. Figured there must be some net neutrality bill before the FCC or something.
After the election in 2016, Comcast let all its employees in the corporate offices in Philly out to protest in the streets or have a group cry. Now, if I lived in GV or Nirvana City, would I boycott Comcast and cut off my nose to spite my face? Nope, not if I needed high speed internet, running some business out of the home, or was hooked,on NHL hockey or the like. And, it ain’t the cable guy or the satielle guy’s fault what some bigwigs do far far away.
It’s the damn herd mentality I oppose. It’s the politicization of and boycott of everything nowadays because of beliefs or opinions, , not just products and services. Yep, I did boycott Starbucks once cause of some comments about guns and the military several years ago. But, it was not really a boycott since I rarely drink their overpriced cup of mud. I don’t do waiting well…more of a convience store type of guy. In and out, gone in 60 seconds.
Oh, I am boycotting Dick’s, wherever they are. :).
As a recovering Liberal, somethings are too low on the priority list to give a hoot about anymore. As Tammy Bruce, another recovering liberal, said, “all your philosophy and agendas and liberal ideas and advocacy don’t mean a thing if you don’t have security.”…or are dead. 9/11 changed more than just how we board an airplane. Priorities. What to leave in, what to leave out.

BT- Chick fil A is in Auburn and Hobby Lobby in Roseville on Douglas,

The resistances fakenews is loosing its allure, even for lefties-
Although Cuomo Prime Time’s much-ballyhooed debut on June 4 still belly-flopped with only 1.37 million viewers (MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow earned 2.86 million viewers; Fox’s Sean Hannity grabbed 3.32 million), he could at least brag about having the top-rated show on CNN.
For example, on Monday, Cuomo more than doubled his left-wing CNN confederate Jake Tapper (who reportedly lost this primetime promotion to Cuomo). Tapper, who’s ratings have collapsed over the last year, could only attract 675,000 viewers.
What’s more, in his Monday debut, Cuomo also attracted a healthy 475,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age group, which was still last place, but much better than everyone else at CNN. The far-left Tapper, for example, could attract only 168,00 demo viewers.
What a difference a week makes.
According to the latest Nielsen numbers, when compared to its Monday launch, Cuomo Prime Time’s Friday, June 8, episode slipped a whopping -23 percent in total viewers and an even worse -25 percent in demo viewers.
Also, by this same Friday, Cuomo was not only attracting fewer viewers than Anderson Cooper, (1.07 million compared to 1.05 million), he attracted a lot fewer viewers than the Anderson Cooper hour that immediately followed Cuomo Prime Time (1.05 million to 1.399 million).

    Thanks for the info, tanks-a-rock.
Thanks Gregory and Don, but the only fast food joint I will go out of my way for is In-N-Out, that’s what a burger is all about. And that has been awhile…since I had a rather embarrassing incident happen there. I was ordering for the family and the girls said they wanted a Double Double Animal style. Something new I was not familiar with. So I ordered and the nice counter person asked if I wanted onions on that and I said make two “doggie style”. The young lady at the counter turned bright red, I turned bright red, and the girls ducked under the counter for lack of a better place to hide from me.. I have still not lived that malapropisma down to this day.
Lately, I have been on the Venezuelan diet and stand in solidarity with my starving brothers and sisters in Bernie’s Socialist Utopia. How can I even think of a Double Double with Cheese with fresh cut fries while the military is passing out rationed toilet paper in the formerly richest country in a South America? That is. The members of the starving military that have not deserted. I feel shame. Shame on me, shame, shame, shame.
There is one silver lining to this Starbuck’s re-education training. Now cops can use their bathrooms. How cool is that. It’s like Starbucks is now America’s biggest public bathroom! When I was a kid with a full bladder, the public swimming pool was what we would now call a gender neutral restroom.

M, you finally made me smile. Took awhile.
Hey, for a local fishwrapper we could do a heck of a lot worse. I e-mail the Police Blotter to old friends in small towns across the fruited plains. They always laugh and are amazed at our crazies. “Krazy Kalifornia, only in California. Don’t send them here!” is the standard reply.
Then I tell them they have crazies too. but their local fishwrapper only comes out twice a week and has no Police Blotter and need I remind them of the stories they have told me about their crazies? Crazier than a loon, which is why they don’t go out at night. Never know what’s happening in the woods behind your cabin. Need I remind you?
The clincher was one night I e-mailed a single entry out of the Police Blotter about a caper some crazy woman did. Then I e-mailed it again and again to the same person about 5 times. Just the one entry in the Police Blotter (a good juicy entry, three or four sentences) with no hi, no bye, nothing else. Finally, I receive a reply asking me what the heck I am doing and why, why, why do I keep sending that Police Blotter entry to them. “Am I missing something here?”
I replied. “Yes, you are missing something here. That is about your ex-daughter in law who moved down to these parts (years ago). Quit sending us your crazies!” 🙂
They agree that I am lucky to have a Police Blotter and they wished their local paper had such a wonderful page. And they agree that they probably have the same stuff going on there, but it’s not in the paper.
I have no complaints with the Union, all in all. If it missed a day or two, I wouldn’t complain. But, I am the exception, not the rule. Like M, terminally unique.
I have seen the freeway entrance blocked off near the old Safeway with a car like a 48 Chevy parked with all doors open in the middle of the on ramp with 5 guys laying on the ground with undercover LE or State Guys pointing shotguns against each and every head of the people on the ground and more unmarked trucks and cop cars and sheriff cars and guys from who knows where in black ninja outfits running around than you can count….and nary a peep in the paper. Not a peep and happens all the time….if you venture out into the darkness. Boo!

In fact, another paper published this month by Kingslake et al finds that there has been extensive retreat and re-advance of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet during the Holocene.
As Shephard also remarks, the melting in West Antarctica is due to the intrusion of warmer water, and therefore nothing at all to do with GHGs or “global warming”. It is highly unlikely that such changes in ocean currents have not happened many times before.

This separating illegal mothers from their babies has the Lefties all up in arms. Man, that cuts deep into them.
Hey immigrants: use the front door and open your mouth and request aylsum or refugee status. Simple. No ripping little bambinos out of Momma Mia’s arms. No separation. But……..if you cross illegally through the desert somewhere and are reckless enough to endanger your family by crossing illegally, then don’t put that on us.
Don’t blame us, put that on them. The illegal crossers. Its the risk they decided to take. They made the decision to cross illegality before their toe hit US soil.
Catch some foreign national sneaking in, you go to deportation center….aka…jail. No babies or kids in adult jail. Kids fall under HUD, Dr. Ben Carson’s care, a very loving man who values all life. Sure, it’s getting crowded, but the friggin TDS Chunky the Clown Senators still haven’t confirmed his right hand men and he’s still getting it done, shorthanded or not.
It’s on them if they choose not to come in at a legal crossing. Kinda like the little Syrian boy who washed up on the rocks of Greece or someplace. The pic that went around the world in seconds. That’s it! Enough! Let everybody in from every Middle East and Saharan Africa county, no questions asked.
Remember all those people across the EU holding up signs that said “Welcome Refugees” and people welcoming them with bottled water and sandwich’s and gifts at all the train stations. One dead boy was all it took to lose a Continent. That story is still being written.
If we start lessening the laws and making exceptions, then the whole deterrent thang goes up in smoke. Good orderly process. What is wrong with that?

The gifts that keep on giving –
In one exchange in February 2016, the FBI agent, identified only as “Agent 1,” talked to another FBI employee about interviewing Hillary Clinton’s personal IT staffer. The FBI employee asked how the interview went.
Agent 1 replied: “Awesome. Lied his ass off.”
He continued: “Went from never inside the scif [sensitive compartmented information facility] at [Clinton’s residence], to looked in when it was being constructed, to remove the trash twice, to troubleshot the secure fax with HRC a couple times, to everytime there was a secure fax i did it with HRC. Ridic,”

Wow, the Saudi coalition in Yemen did an amphibious assault on the major port help by the Iran proxy huthies! The UAE Marines (Who knew they had a heavy battalion of Marines) who apparently stormed the beaches and lost one small landing craft with only 4 casualties after getting hit by 2 Chinese costal defense rocket(?) rounds.
Team Sunni seems to have matured into a truly integrated force. Bad news for the Mullahs.

My ladies just won’t go to the back of the bus and stay put. Or keep quiet. No sireee.
Yep, Sociopaths and Progressives only fain remorse when they get caught. You can bet your last dollar that we have not heard the last of these fine American ladies, aka, the “danger to society”. And they ain’t even asking for reparations or shakedown money. Must not be community organizers or SJWs. How refreshing.

“Dems have edge on registrations and win 8 of 10 partisan races. Blue county.”
But there are 12 partisan races decided on June 5, not 10.
Take off the partisan blue tinted glasses, Punch. You have neighbors you are trying to erase.
