Apologize for a change of topics, but Dr. Judith Curry recently made a presentation on the State of the Climate which is posted here:
https://sierrafoothillcommentary.com/2018/06/12/state-of-climate-debate/
I highly recommend reading Dr. Curry’s presentation, especially the sea level rise slides. I would like to hear from all the Anthropogenic Global Warmers where Dr. Curry’s analysis is not correct. Let’s not have a cricket chorus on this important issue.

Monday’s election results have some interesting numbers to consider. Most significant is that Hillary Hodge picked up around 200 votes on Dan Miller receiving around 700 of the 1200 (rounded off numbers) votes counted since last Tuesday for District 3 Supes. Thats 58% of the new votes compared to 42% for Dan miller. With around 2000 votes to be counted for District 3 she will easily surpass the 100 vote lead that Dan Miller currently has if that trend continues. One has to speculate as to the demographics of the later voters and why are they different by such a margin to the early votes. Dan had a 56-44% margin in the first 2800 votes counted last week which was reversed in the last batch of votes cutting his lead to 100 votes. We’ll know more on Thursday when a new batch of votes are released. Also Shannon Moon increased her lead over Bill Smethers in the last batch from 32.58 % to 34.28 seemingly indicating the later votes are part of a blue wash.
Very interesting numbers.

Again it’s fascinating that the self identified Green Libertarian who really has no dog in the fight is so preoccupied with the Democrats in the election. One could be forgiven for thinking that he is clumsily misrepresenting himself in an attempt to maintain some pretense of impartiality when arguing with political opponents!

I’m preoccupied by the demographics in our county and how election results reflect that. Numbers are fascinating to me and this election is full of numerical goodies that I can ponder over. I thought you were a Libertarian Fish yet all I hear from you is Trump gushing. Trump is the exact opposite of a Libertarian especially in his foreign policy and use of military and especially his anti free trade tirades. How do you justify your support for Trump Fish if you claim to be a Libertarian?

If the Blue Wave does not happen with trendsetting CA leading the charge, then it may happen this year. A look at the primaries tell me that in super duper Progressive California, the liberals done just lost their super majority in the statehouse. Something to do with taxes, a tax revolt or something. Getting back to our roots….back to the Boston Tea Party. Back to the future, I reckon.
And to think that the CA Democrat Party rejected a Progressive woman of color and opted for a former Big Pharma lobbist to lead the state party. Odd, I thought Big Pharma was the evil bad guy.
Hmm. Newsome kicked back and raked in the cashmere from unions and Blue Cross. Blue Cross? That be a Big Insurance. The lefty voters of CA rejected POC Antonio Villaraigosa Andmopted for some white dude for governor. Newsome does not look like who we are. Interesting, very interesting. Much to ponder.

If there was a blue wash to the last cycle, why was the bluest of the Sheriff candidates, John Foster, not a beneficiary?
The crazy “everyone casts an absentee ballot” system mixes up the ballots… there’s not a definite lumpiness to the order of the counting. No, we’re waiting for the reactionary ballots from Lake Wildwood, or the warmista ballots from downtown Nirvana Silly. Yes, you are preoccupied with an early detection of the impending Blueness that will finally chase out the people you really are not happy living near, and have told they’d be happier elsewhere. If there’s an arrow of Progressiveness… why did it get reversed when the Gang of Four (including Van Zant and “Izzy” Martin) got elected and then unelected?

The blues split their vote between Foster and Moon. For example, Heidi Hall endorsed Moon. I have no doubt that either of them would have won outright against Smethers who I like by the way. He would make a fine sheriff as would any of the three candidates in my view.

Gregory brought up a great point in a previous post. The libertarians’ vote does not count at all for state wide offices. They done got kicked out of the system. You can have two Dems, one Dem and one R, and that’s all that is allowed. You Libertarians and third party folks got the door slammed in your faces. That don’t seem fair, but that’s what the voters decided. And Bernie got kicked out of the Dem Party for 2020. He ain’t DNC enough for the Big Tent.
So, for a state wide office in California, Punchy, Greg, Fish, moi, Don, Todd, Dr. Rebane, and who knows who else’s vote does not count. Guess Boardman is the only winner. “Heads I win, tails you lose” kinda thang. Must be those Frisco Values.
Well, I suppose Linda Campbell said it best.
“As a life long reader and subscriber of the Union, getting tired of their ideas or minority ideology being imposed on the rest of Us.”
Yep, best to silence those minority opinions. Very inclusive. The Dems’ diversity is their strength….right. The only thing equal here in CA is our votes do not count. Maybe Linda’s does. Now, to silence those minority views and life would be even better. Spoken like a true authoritarian, statist, and tyrant. Hmmmm. Looks like HH88 ain’t the only one struggling with adulthood.

Note to punchy they are all republicans! Foster and his campaign manager who is under investigation by the state went for the lefty/pot vote. Moon is a decline to state after being a R until the end of April. Bottom line is as Gregory noted, no wave. 70% of the vote went for Sheriffs office management who have my world view. 😉

Voters as a whole are dumb and easily stampeded. I expected from the beginning that the system as sold, that it would result in “more moderate candidates” in November elections, was a Trojan Horse to transfer even more power to the Blue Meanies in Sacramento. It’s a way to transfer more votes to the folks with ties to the big money machine of public employee unions transferring cash automagically to Democratic Party Politicians in on the subscription plan.

The University of Michigan changed its speech policies on Tuesday, one day after the Trump administration weighed in on a federal lawsuit alleging the school unfairly trampled on student’s First Amendment rights.
On Monday, the Department of Justice filed a statement of interest accusing the Ann Arbor school of imposing a “system of arbitrary censorship of, and punishment for, constitutionality protected speech.”
The Justice Department’s motion was in support of a May lawsuit against the school by Speech First, a free speech advocacy group. Speech First alleged the University Michigan’s Bias Response Team, which responds to reports of any speech a listener finds “bothersome” or “hurtful.”
Since April 2017, the Bias Response Team has investigated more than 150 incidents and removed flyers, posters and even erased whiteboards, according to the lawsuit.
The school has since updated its speech policies by adopting more concrete definitions of “bullying” and “harassing.” The University of Michigan said it will now use more formal definitions found in Michigan state law.
“The revised definitions more precisely and accurately reflect the commitment to freedom of expression that has always been expressed in the statement itself,” said E. Royster Harper, Vice President of Student Life, in a statement released by the school.

It’s an interesting side effect, but not one that the crack KVMR news crew cares about I think.
I’m being repetitious, but I think the really interesting result will be the inevitable fissioning of the California Democratic party as they fight over the carcass. There really isn’t any way around it, it’s baked into the cake of humanity. It won’t be only the split that will be cool to watch, but how they invent an organizational structure that allows them to still be viewed as a single (D) in terms of the US Congress and the electoral college.
Of course, other states have their own peculiarities. John McCain (R-Mex) appears to still be a Senator for example.

Now it makes sense. It’s not race, sex, gender, or views on the environment. It’s Moon supports rescheduling pot for the potheads from a class one drug to something else. My, my. Moon or any county sheriff or big city police chief does not have the power to accomplish that, neither does the governor. So, Moon’s support for something she has zero control or influence over is why she’s da man! She’s Punchy’s MAN!
Also tells me that Punchy only cares about pot. Nothing new. Somethings don’t change. I support my county supervisor cause she wants to mine astoriods for gold. Makes sense to me.

2). Coffee spiting time: “He is better off in Argentina.” ROFLMAO. I can’t believe he said that. Zinger.
TRUMP-BASHING SOUTH CAROLINA REP. SANFORD IN TOUGH PRIMARY FIGHT AGAINST GOP NEWCOMER
By contrast, Trump said that Sanford “has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to [Make America Great Again]. He is MIA and nothing but trouble. He is better off in Argentina.”
In June 2009, Sanford disappeared from public view for six days and later claimed that he had been hiking on the Appalachian Trail. He later admitted that he had in fact traveled to Argentina to meet a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair.
Yep, Sanford out, new face in, the face of a woman. Changing of the guard. “I fully endorse Katie Arrington for Congress in SC, a state I love,” tweeted Trump, who was traveling aboard Air Force One after his summit meeting with North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un. “She is tough on crime and will continue our fight to lower taxes. …you know, the odd thing about the M post at 6:50AM, I really had to knit my brows, is the concept that countries need a trade balance in a particular good.
In a simplistic world, I would think you would shoot for an imbalance of net zero for all goods together. Trade lumber for milk.
In a more complex world, you net zero with all countries added together.
In a yet more complex world, you try not to export purely mined goods since there’s a long term problem of running out.
I’ve always had sort of a problem with this given my naive concept of comparative advantage. If your country has no advantage at all, or an imbalanced advantage, I can’t help but think that the long term result is always to move ownership of capital assets to foreign nationals.
I realize this is all a response to the pussy grabbin’ Orange Hitler and has nothing to do with trade policy. It’s easy to have malleable beliefs in an era when politics has little to do with economics.
Of course, now I wonder why I would respond to yet another contentless ‘M’ post. It’s like reading a huffpo chatbot.

Shame, shame, shame. Obama loved to shame us for his son he never had, Trayvon. Or shame us for a white cop catching a black man breaking into the back of a house under the cover of darkness at night…albeit his own home. Shame, shame, shame, and shame us for even suggesting there is a smidgen of corruption in his administration, the IRS, the NSA, the CIA, the FBI, and hiring Ashley Carter, complete with his pink tie and State diverting funds for security at our embassy in Libya to install electric car charges at our French Embassy. Shame on us. We are bad. Shame, shame, shame of you bitter clingers.
The second I saw this tape, I said to myself, “My gawd, we just declared defeat.” We lost. Have you no shame? Blame others. Shame, shame, shame.

Meanwhile, Samatha Powers went to her office, dug through the daily stack of papers, and unmasked one person a day until she reached 270 illegal unmasking….then said it was her signature and requests, but it was not her. Have they no shame?

Walt.
I saw that one coming months ago. Easy call. Stormy is still dancing in dark bars that charge 20 dollar cover, peddling her old videos, and got screwed by lawyers…her lawyers. They made the big time, she gets thrown under the bus and pushed away. I knew she would have got screwed. She got $130,000 bucks for doing 5 minutes with private citizen Trump years ago and took the money to keep it under wraps. More money than she ever saw in her entire life…blackmail money. Now, she may be out that 130k, left to strip before balding lonely men.
The Russians are messing with her lawyer!
I could say the exact same for Kathy Griffin. She was offered riches, fame, and forune by her publicity whore self-appointed lawyer, the daughter of Gloria Allred. They chewed her up, used and abused Kathy, then spit her out. Not to say that Kathy did not do it to herself, but her lawyer was more interested in passing out business cards than returning Kathy’s calls. She would have been better off to follow her first gut instinct and it would have blown over. But, no. The ambulance chasers left her high and dry after they sucked all they could out of her for their own purposes.
Same for Cindy Sheehan or our own Patti Smith. I warned Patti, who was a regular Florence Nightengale for the suffering. But, no. Her focused single issue agenda got hijacked by the black market growers and those who wanted to use medicinical only pot as an excuse for legalized pot. They never gave a crap about Patti, just used her to promote their agenda and kick her to the curb when she did not condone their blackmarket growers’ agenda. Money talks, Bull pucky walks.
Stormy, as old as she is, is still getting screwed and working for a few dollars waved before her inside seedy dives outside small town city limits. Sad

Political shows’ negative focus on Islam erodes social cohesion, says cultural council
Controllers of the broadcasters have hit back. “We believe the talk shows are an enriching part of our programming,” Rainald Becker, the editor-in-chief of the ARD told Die Welt. “Of course we discuss Islam now and then, but we also have other topics such as housing, the collapse of bee colonies or the shortage of carers.
“And to those who want to complain, I say to them: you know that there’s an off switch.”
