[Well, I guess the big question du jour is whose bygone trysts are the most damning – a previous president's, verified and while in office; or the current president's, alleged and before he took office. The French are laughing their butts off that the puritan Americans, especially the secular humanist progressives, are making such a fuss over it, to the point of impeachability. gjr]

We really don’t have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem and the wish list just keeps growing and growing with no end in sight. Think the dollar has been stretched to the breaking point. Everywhere one looks, people are clamoring for their pet projects to get more of that federal and Sacramento greenback-a-dollar coming their way.
Was at the gas pumps the other day and there was a sticker listing all the petro taxes. 27 cents or so to the Feds, 18 cents to the State, a user fee tax, something else, then “approximently 10 cents” for a carbon tax. Gee Wally, I thought the tax two times ago was going to pay for roads and 600,000 homeless abodes. Guess the carbon tax revenues fell short of projections to fund the Brown Streak to Buttonwillows and Moonbeam had to raid the highway taxes to cover the pension shortfalls, lol. This new tax is going for roads…until it too will be raided to cover the pensions and salaries and help pay for the slow train wreck to nowhere….and of course, the General Fund needs a little help…which always finds a way to come not covering everything promised. Nothing a new tax wouldn’t fix…unless you are a crumbling bridge.
What, me worry?

“Every series of polls has the occasional outlier and in our opinion this is one,” the pollster announced. “So, while we are reporting the findings in the interest of transparency, we will not be announcing the start of a new trend until we have more data to validate this pattern.”
Sorry dude,, this is old news for the Trump crowd.

That strikes me as too general a question. My guess is that you could make an entire career out of studying the history and rules covering classified materials, executive orders, regulations on investigations…and that probably more than a few of those may not make it through a serious court vetting. That’s a long-winded way of saying I don’t know.
My gut feeling, if I were to write a Constitution, is that the DOJ should be under direct control of the President and subject to Congressional investigations with no limit. The Congress would have no control, but simply the ability to impeach a President. Having said that, I’m not sure how you avoid endless politically-motivated investigations or leaks for political purposes.
I believe that the DOJ is largely a post Civil War construction, and the way it has metastasized is a good proxy, along with foreign wars and the welfare state, for how the US has evolved into it’s present condition. Once a law enforcement/surveillance organization has grown this powerful, it is bound to become it’s own power center or be too powerful a tool to not use or both.

Now here are some numbers the po’ ol’ pollhead should worry about;
In the latest poll by the Polling Company, a majority, 52 percent, of swing-voters said they wanted the 250,000 visas allotted to “chain migrants” — the foreign relatives of newly naturalized citizens — eliminated altogether rather than handed over to businesses to allow them to import an additional flood of foreign workers.

Oh well, why not pile on the po’ ol’ pollhead –
The spike in apparent support leaves Trump with 57 percent support on the economy, 60 percent support on employment and jobs, 51 percent support on immigration, although he gets only 43 percent on the high-priority issue of healthcare. The poll did not ask about the success of Trump’s efforts to raise wages.

Say – here’s a new way to ease the housing shortage in Kali.
https://www.engadget.com/2018/05/06/california-to-require-solar-panels-on-most-new-homes/
Money quote – “The new standards are poised to hike construction costs by $25,000 to $30,000 (about half of which is directly due to solar), but the self-produced energy is estimated to save owners $50,000 to $60,000 in operating costs over the solar technology’s expected 25-year lifespan.”
Typical greenie hum bug. The ‘costs’ go up by $25k to $30k. Whose costs? The developer? Add a percentage on top of that to the buyer and then there’s that mortgage thingie. And because the house is now ‘worth’ more, the taxes, insurance and maintenance costs go up. The mortgage runs for typically 30 years, but by then your solar panels have crapped out and you’re facing a huge replacement cost and you are still paying for the original system now in the junk yard. Pretty cool, huh?
Banks make more money – govt collects more taxes – the developer makes more money – you have to earn more money and then pay higher income taxes as well as higher prop taxes.
But think of all the money the Chinese solar panel manufacturers are making!
The homeless in Kali are cheering!

More room for educating our kids –
Visas for international students have dropped more than 15 percent under President Donald Trump’s economic nationalist agenda as his key executive order known as “Buy American, Hire American” has taken center stage.
A new report by Axios’s Stef Kight reveals that visas for international students declined 17 percent in 2017 during Trump’s first year in office. For Chinese students, visas dropped nearly 25 percent, and for Indian students, visas dropped nearly 30 percent.

Interesting, I’d never heard of it. If nothing else it’ll drive up the value of used houses slightly.
Assuming that solar panels are net energy producers and that they can be profitable, what is the advantage of sticking them on house roofs? It seems to me that taking a couple of acres here and there and filling it with panels would give a cheaper and easier to maintain result. I suppose the beauty of this solution is that you push the cost onto home owners rather than PGE.

Among the pressing issues facing our county, economic development and high-speed internet are strongly linked.
To attract new businesses that align with our treasured rural environment, and to support small and home-based businesses, we must have wider access to broadband — as well as net neutrality. Indeed, 54 percent of businesses here are home-based, and 70 percent of small businesses are owned and operated by a single person. I’m one of those “solopreneurs” and as a freelance writer and editor, I would not be able to earn my living without broadband access.

I’ve never said otherwise. Not only is he president of the USA, I acknowledge the fact that, for the time being, he is my president.
That said, the fact remains that the majority of the people did not vote for him as you alleged.

The Logan Act? What a bunch of hooey. It’s probably unconstitutional, but the uninformed Popinjay is our resident expert on the Act.
“Democrats wanted to hang former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn out to dry for supposedly violating the Logan Act, a 1799 law that prohibits private citizens from conducting unauthorized foreign policy, because Flynn had conversations with Russians during the transition into power for the Trump administration. Of course, they’re silent on Kerry. No one has ever been prosecuted under the Logan Act, but Kerry’s “shadow diplomacy” is serious — he’s actively working to undermine the current administration to save a horrible deal in which he has a personal stake……
.
It’s arguably treason, and if anyone knows how to get away with treason, it’s John Kerry, who negotiated with the North Vietnamese in 1970, giving aid and comfort to the enemy at a time of open war. He then delivered communist propaganda and slander of American troops in congressional testimony. For nearly 50 years, Kerry has been a disgrace to his country and it’s well past time he faced the consequences.”

I did not vote for That woman either.
“The most qualified person running was a woman, and look what we did instead. I mean, that says something about where we are. If we as women are still suspicious of one another; if we still have this crazy, crazy bar for each other that we don’t have for men; if we’re not comfortable with the notion that a woman could be our president … then we have to have those conversations with ourselves as women.” —Michelle Obama lamenting that women didn’t line up to vote for the woman
Thanks, Obama? “I think we have to look at it over a longer horizon than [Trump’s time in office]. If you think about what the economy was like when President Obama took office, we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. Under his watch the unemployment rate dropped in half and it’s encouraging to see that we’re continuing to make progress.” —Valerie Jarrett belittling the Trump economy
Race bait:
“[Trump is] certainly racist-adjacent. If you have the evidence that shows you, that leads you to nothing else but this president being racist, then I feel it’s my obligation as a journalist to say it.” —CNN’s Don Lemon
Too funny. They believe their own hype.
“The other cable networks have picked sides. I know people like to say that CNN has picked sides. We picked the side of truth. I think in this era, the Trump era, the truth can seem partisan when it’s not.” —Don Lemon
