Walt, you need to sell any of those super trick semiauto rifles and buy something safe….

Too funny. It doesn’t take much of leap of imagination to put a magazine on something like that.

Duggie 402pm, as Walt rightly pointed out, “gas assisted receiver” firearms don’t exist. It’s a brain fart from a Congresscritter who knows nothing about the things they want to ban.
get reaaaal close to the screen:
    gas assisted receiver
    gas-operated reloading
one of the above phrases is accurate and has meaning
    the other isn’t and doesn’t

re: The Blessing of the Rifles.
cool. I like their spirit, it’s bound to be a national story. The fact that it’s wacky offshoot of a wacky cult (Unification Church, AKA Rev. Moon & Co.) will get conveniently left out of any headline and most of the stories, but you can’t go wrong with conflating two things that Green Libertarians don’t like, guns and religion.
To me the real story in something like this is the MSM’s ability to bend an event to a narrative. The thing is that if your politics are the same as the editorial staff at Newsweek you never notice it. It takes too much in the way of self-knowledge.
Personally, I rather like this. These people seem to have a seriousness that is missing in the West.

I did run into a top-secret new weapons technology though.

Why am I not surprised. He lives in his parents’ and is a typical pro gun control. Democrat. That’s shows how crazy he is. His parents also donated to the Litzy Warren campaign. Apple don’t fall from the tree.
“Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Garland said that a family member had reported that the defendant was on medication for suicidal thoughts.
Frisiello’s lawyer, Scott Gleason, said his client has been on medication all his life, but he would not say for what.”
    http://www.bostonherald.com/news/local_coverage/2018/03/powder_hoax_suspect_has_issues
With all this gun talk, from the get-go I (and Bonnie and a few others) have said every school shooter as one thing in common: they are on anti-depressant head meds. Every single one. Yet, as the Left cries out for banning fire sticks, they pop more and more drugs and put then put their kids on them. That is plumb insane.

This time, it’s enough to not take sides. REI supplier is out until they toe the party line.

The funny thing is that it didn’t have to be guns. It could be about pussy hats, or Russians, St. Trayvon, or the importation of a gajillion people from elsewhere.
    Outrage is addictive.
Personally, I’m fine with splitting the economy up between Green Libertarians and regular people.

REI is off the deep end a’gin… I’m a member, #400xxx. Seattle crazies, and the low cost/high value mountaineering gear has long been replaced by urban yuppie goods.
The news today is the Florida shooter didn’t have large cap magazines… he had 15 separate 10 round mags in his bag. He stopped when the gun jammed.
Yes, Keach, “receiver” is a thing… but a “gas assisted receiver” isn’t, so the confused congresscritter will have a hard time banning it.

    Corporate Tribalism
Ed Morrissey says, “According to Morning Consult’s data, millennials are no more likely to base consumer decisions on corporate political agendas than other age demos.” He adds, “Perhaps the blowback will be short-lived, but then again, that would probably have been true of whatever perceived benefit these companies got from cutting ties to the NRA, too. A final point to ponder: Do these large corporations really believe that any short-term boost in standing among anti-corporate progressives will last? Really?”

Bill 6:56 – HERE is the bright side! Conservatives are old and dying off. Not really new, but the change in conservative recruitment is. As young liberal voters age, they are staying liberal rather than sliding off to the right.

Walt – I rarely go out but last week some friends visited Nevada City and we went to New Era and Crazy Horse. I’ll take the young, vibrant, and energetic crowd any day of the week. New Era was like a morgue with a few older folks sipping cocktails and talking about politics and their health issues. I hate to think that I’ll be in that demographic sooner than later.

Oh absolutely……and the democrats had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the appropriations meetings because of their well known devotion to fiscal rectitude…...cough….cough……8 trillion dollars on President Chair Warmers watch.
Here’s where I get to employ a greasy Paul Emeryism…..I don’t vote Republican!

Walt- The New Era caters to the old set. Frank Sinatra music, yellow liquor, faux antique furnishings, etc . . . everything to make the old folks feel like they are in their 20’s again. On the weekend it is full of the Bay Area kind, but midweek, it is an older conservative crowd. You might like it if you can stomach $15. drinks. Me neither!

Nevada City used to be a lot of fun in the 70’s and 80’s and then it all changed. They saw their future in the old folks spending 150 bucks for two at their restaurants. Now there are a couple of places old farts like jon smith can go and rub elbows with young people. Kind of creepy though having the old guys in the presence of young gals.
