@11:21am
Finally skimmed one of your links. Did not see Sessions weighing in, which would make sense (to moi) since AG Sessions has recused himself from anything dealing with Russiagate. The FISA request deals with Russia and a Russian spy.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, both Trump appointees have grave concerns about releasng the Nunes Memo.”
Maybe you meant DOJ officials, aka, the deputies.LikeLike

PS: From your link. He swings and misses. Strike two and 7/16.
Asked if the Justice Department backed the FBI’s position, a department spokesperson noted that the FBI is part of DOJ, and did not immediately respond to a follow-up question. A spokesperson for Mueller’s office declined to comment.LikeLike

For those who did not see or follow the SOTUS, a summary with quotes from the horse’s mouth.
But there was no sense of unity forthcoming from the Democrats.
Within minutes of the SOTU conclusion, a fundraising email from Democrat National Committee chairman Tom Perez hit my inbox with this declaration: “Let me be very clear about something: We can stop the terrible, divisive agenda that Trump laid out tonight in his State of the Union — but only if we take back Congress this year.”

President Trump’s state of the union speech was the best I’ve watched since Reagan. Even better because of the recognition given to ordinary people who experienced, overcame and achieved something special. Like President Trump, Abraham Lincoln also said that America (because of its Constitution) was a place where ordinary people could achieve their dreams. President Trump obviously knows who create the health and wealth of America’s economy, and is actively working for and with we the people. What a contrast watching the show time sour grapes faces of Senator Pelosi and friends who only care about money and power for themselves. It’s kind of humorous in that they definitely appear to be anti-Americans carrying on their destructive war within this country for many years.
Here’s the entire text of the President’s speech you can read.

Saint Paul sez: “Trump is aiding the Mexican drug dealers by doing NOTHING about the opiate epidemic”
Oh, just be quiet you silly little turd.
The DOJ has about a million regulations, efforts, and rules on opiates. There’s a fine line between those who really really need the things to just get by and those who abuse them.
Try working in that world, assuming you’ve ever had a real job, and you’ll see what I mean.
Inventing a set of rules for handing them out is a tricky thing.LikeLike

The “America First” toon reproduced at Crabb’s is a real misappropriation. Gerard LK Smith, the “America First” party presidential “nominee”, got a whopping 1,700+ votes in 1944. He was denounced as among “professional anti-Semites and lunatic nationalists” by the Anti-Defamation League in the 1950’s. A real “Denier”, he claimed the Holocaust never happened and the six million missing Jews were moved to the USA during WWII.

No RL, those people are not seen at every Tea Party/GOP event, and the whole country said “Ugh!” to his campaign.

Could you not find anything to praise from his speech? You are simply unimportant and your opinions have become so reliable for derision you appear deranged. Opiates certainly are killing a lot of people and it must be Trump stuffing the pills down their throats. I suggest your pals that love the dope are the reason there is a market for the death pills. And we will see more now that the voters of Califonia agreed with you drug pushers about MJ.LikeLike

Regarding Crabb and his ilk writing about the signs at Tea Party rallies and claiming some sort of racial and moral superiority. Makes me laugh my ass off. Crabb is a racist and so is Frisch and Peterson. They try their best to blame others and deflect from their own foibles but they cannot make that work. They are projecting their own shortcomings onto others and Crabb just makes crap up. What a joke he is.

The America First Committee (AFC) was organized in September 1940 to oppose America`s potential intervention in World War II. Its best known leader was Charles Lindbergh. He’d attended the Pacific Conference and felt those involved didn’t care about America, but were using us. He thought Russia was more of a threat. The propaganda was pretty intense. Years ago I read his Wartime Journals. It was really interesting….1000 pages of narrative, that takes the reader from March, 1938 to June, 1945. A detailed personal record of events from the time of the German invasion of Austria to Lindbergh’s visits to postwar Europe’s ruined cities.

Todd, it wasn’t a question of your grammar. It’s like a kid writing a term paper or answering an exam question and running out of things to say about a person or issue, and using “et cetera” to intimate they have more to say.
If you think he’s placeable on the list of synonyms you copied above, name it specifically, don’t just bloody well hope we’ll pick the one you’re thinking of. “Ilk” doesn’t cut it; it’s a cheat otherwise.LikeLike

So Trump gets off the hook Scenes because, as you put it
“Inventing a set of rules for handing them out is a tricky thing.”
Here’s the numbers
“More than 64,000 drug overdose deaths estimated in 2016, the sharpest increase occurred among deaths related to fentanyl and fentanyl analogs (synthetic opioids) with over 20,000 overdose deaths.” Source: CDC WONDER
Care to estimate the number of deaths in this country from Terrorism or illegal immigrants? Give it a try. There have been only 32 Deaths from terrorism since 9-11.
If Trump wants to “Make America Great Again” why not give more than a token effort to opiate and related substances abuse deaths. The States are crying out for help and have received little increase in financial assistance from Trump.
“If you look at Trump’s actions, well, it’s a very different story. There has been no move by Trump’s administration to actually spend more money on the opiate crisis. Key positions in the administration remain unfilled, even without nominees in the case of the White House’s drug czar office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). And although the administration’s emergency declaration was renewed this month, it has led to essentially no action since it was first signed — no significant new resources, no major new initiatives.”

While China gina and many of our trading partners are making all kinds of trade agreements, Trump is taking our marbles and going home.
We will see how that plays out long term. Sounds to me like we are going backwards, but I guess all that buddy buddy international trading is the stuff of Agenda 21.LikeLike

BonnieM 308pm – Happy to hear that you also read Lindbergh’s wartime journals; that was one hell of an enlightenment for me. Lindbergh was a man totally misunderstood after 1 September 1939 by most people in power, and even those considering themselves educated. The man was self-made and a selfless American patriot.

Actually, Paul Emery, it is the attitude you have along with your ilk that is the cause of drug overdoses. MJ is a gateway drug to worse and since you state you are a “libertarian” about what a person can do with their own body perhaps you personally are the reason there are drug OD’s. Think about your own part of this scourge and leave Trump alone. He neither smokes or drinks and does not so drugs. You should emulate him rather than disparate him and his lifestyle choices.LikeLike

Do we need to create some definitions here: Recreational Opiates (RO) and Medicinal Opiates (MO)?
RO gets all the publicity. If MO use is up it is because a large percentage of the population is aging and more people are trying to manage pain.LikeLike

Bonnie and Dr. Rebane
Last night was a most inspiring speech. After eight long years of being pushed aside into the darkness hearing the constant drumbeat that America is bad, our founding is bad, our founders are bad, our military is bad, our country, our flag, our culture, our borders, our patriots, our police, our thinking, our speech are all bad bad bad…..after 8 long dark years, last night finally someone came out and proclaimed to the World it is not only ok to love America, it’s great to love America.
I love America and America is great. Trump laid forth in too many ways to list here how and why America is exceptional and American Exceptionalism is a fact and is alive and thriving. I love my country, home of the brave.
My soul has been watered and my spirit revived. My whole being has been rejuvenated.
I will skip the specifics of Trumps address for another post.
I loved how Trump used Natural Law to tie it all in, from the man with crutches to the rotunda, Capital Building, the monuments to great men in DC, to the Capital City itself as the beacon of love of liberty that beats inside the breast of all men seeking to be free. The love of God, family, flag, and country. The love of America and pride of being an American.
Ours indeed is a righteous cause.LikeLike

State Of The Union: Trump And U.S. Democrats Ignore Global Warming Completely
SOTU: Trump Does Not Mention Global Warming Once
Global Warming Policy Forum, 31 January 2018
While President Donald Trump touted policies to make the U.S. into an energy superpower, his first State of the Union (SOTU) address to Congress left out a hallmark of Obama-era speeches. Trump’s address is the first in eight years to not refer to manmade global warming — nine years if you include former President Barack Obama’s 2009 address to Congress. Instead, Trump emphasized deregulation and boosting energy production — many of the regulations Trump rescinded were Obama-era global warming policies. –Michael Bastasch, The Daily Caller, 30 January 2018
Democrats Ignore Climate Change In State Of The Union Rebuttal
Huffington Post, 31 January 2018
The Democratic Party omitted any mention of climate change in its rebuttal Tuesday to President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address. In his speech, Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-Mass.) didn’t bring up global warming, sea-level rise or the surge in global greenhouse gas emissions, which threaten to become worse as the Republican White House ramps up fossil fuel production to unprecedented levels. –Huffington Post, 31 January 2018
It snowed in Africa, global warming must be over.LikeLike

Under the heading ‘A blind squirrel finds a nut’
“For years, the fundamental complaint of the right in the culture wars has been that the left is hypocritical, and the Nikki Haley episode perfectly confirms the point: A prominent Republican woman is smeared. The author who does the smearing is celebrated by all the A-listers, including the most prominent Democratic woman in the country, who herself has a history of giving a pass (or worse) to men accused of sexual assault and harassment. And yet the arbiters of American culture cheer the Democrat and, in the words of the actor Don Cheadle, tell the Republican who has the gall to defend herself: ‘Sit down, girl. You’re drunk.’” —New York Times’ Bari Weiss.LikeLike
-
I have so proud of my country. I am so proud to be an American. I an so proud of how Trump articulated how making America is great for all Americans.
But, not all see it that way.
“When the president comes to make the State of the Union address, he will try to characterize his initiatives as something positive. But 2017 was a very bad year for the American people because of the failure on the part of the Republicans in Congress to get the job done.” —Nancy Pelosi
“President Trump was handed an already healthy economy by his predecessor. Like many things in his life, he inherited the healthy economy. … Obama created more jobs in the last year of his term than you created in the first year of yours. So if you’re going to pat yourself on the back, give a shout out to Barack Obama.” —Chuck Schumer
Time to look in the mirror: “While I am always willing to work with my colleagues across the aisle, the president’s call for bipartisanship and unity rings hollow. You cannot reject bipartisan plans to improve health care and protect Dreamers or sow hate and division — and then turn around the next day and say you want to work together.” —Sen. Kamala Harris
Oh my. And to think she taught a class. I believe that was one class too many.
“I went to the #SOTU. I wanted it burned into my eyes. If there’s ever a moment when I’m too tired to keep fighting, I just have to close my eyes & see [Donald Trump], [Mike Pence] & [Paul Ryan] applauding themselves for punching working families in the gut, & I’m back in this fight.” —Elizabeth Warren raging over the fact that Americans can now keep more of their money
“President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls.” —ACLU national political director Faiz Shakir
And last, I include one “conservative” voice: “The Democrats certainly did themselves no favors by refusing to applaud job growth and higher wages.” —Jonah GoldbergLikeLike
-
I remember when incoming First Lady “elect” Michelle Obama said it was first time in her life she is proud of her country. That comment generated a lot of heat. In a way, I can relate. After Tuesday night’s SOTUA, it was the first time in awhile that I felt great pride in my country. Pride. Great pride. Swelling pride.
