[Whouda thought that America’s urban killings would go up after the leftwing activists started accusing the police of a nationwide conspiracy to kill blacks and other minorities.  Even one of our own political leaders voiced her strong conclusion that this was the case.  Well, now that the post-police-pullback body count stats are coming in, I wonder if any of these liberal loonies will step up on the public podium and offer some contritious remarks about their role in helping blacks kill more blacks.  You can be certain that the marginal deaths of now minimally policed minorities can be laid directly at the feet of these pious progressive pricks.  Yet all we hear from the lamestream about this is the sound of silence.  (more here)  gjr]

Regarding cord cutting… anyone else watch “Bright” on Netflix? Cost them 90mil to make, including whatever Will Smith and Noomi Rapace cost them? Critics hate it, viewers think it’s great. Mirror image of the new Star Wars movie. We’ve loved it, including my son and his fiancee visiting for the holidays.
I hadn’t seen science fiction-fantasy used so effectively to comment on race relations since the “You half-white!”/”You half-black!” episode of the ’60’s Star Trek with the late and great Frank Gorshin playing one of two warring beings whose only difference was one was black on the right side, and the other was white on the right side.
“Bright” is a standard cop movie, except the LAPD Rampart cops were a black guy (Smith) and an Orc who was the department’s diversity hire. The elf district (the rich assholes who make money off people and orcs) is Beverly Hills.
I won’t do a big spoiler, but one of the funniest lines inspired from the news of today was “Faerie’s Lives Don’t Matter Today” as Smith’s character is doing the unpleasant task of dispatching the little flying f*** who was raiding their bird feeder and the neighbor’s dog’s food.

Back to reality folks. There are are few here that were for the legalization of weed. Well,, you got your wish.
And like I said, employers and insurance companies still have a big say.
    http://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/california-weed/article152918329.html
( Hope you can get past the paywall.)
Who is looking forward to having people on the job who smoked weed last night?
Listening to where and how many dispensaries are being allowed is also fodder for discussion. It will be tough to rake in those taxes that everyone is supposed to be thrilled to pay.Let alone pay for the new bureaucracy that has been created. “The Office of Cannabis affairs”.
The vast majority of weed will still be sold the way it has been. Tax free and plenty less than “store bought”.
As Stated when this first came up,, how do you tax what you have no way of controlling?

    1) Gregory: On my second Christmas family gathering Monday, (other one was the 22nd), I asked three youngish adults what was the difference between the new buzzword “fantasy” verses Sci-fi. There is a big difference! Well, they told me exactly what made Fantasy different from Sci-Fi in a calm no-nonsense itemized manner. A teachable moment, but I already plumb forgot. All I know is it sounds like any Disney plot: You got the good guy, the real bad guy, and the guy gets the girl in the end. But, then again, what do I know. Science fiction -Fantasy is close enough for us unenlightened Cretans. Don’t bother to explain it to me. They were quite articulate and very clear in the distinctions…..as if I really care. I should have gotten an Oscar or whatever Fantasy Awards they pass out for pretending I got it now. “Got it, thanks.”
    2) Don, you said “winning”. Darn, you said “Winning.” Oh boy, that is one humongous trigger word. Mr. Cross will be fit to be tied by morning at the latest. Others as well. You brought the Wrath of Winning down upon our heads. Thanks a lot and tanks a rocket. Incoming! (Yes, I projected).

The buzzword isn’t new, Toes. “Fantasy” was in play five decades ago when I first read Lord of the Rings.
The two genres overlap somewhat (by fanbase more than literary traditions), but if it’s tech, it’s SF (or “sci-fi” if you want to piss off purists) and if it’s magic, it’s fantasy.
Every once in a while you get someone looking for a book like LOTR. There ain’t anything like LOTR that wasn’t written by JRR Tolkien.

(Except in the presidential election) Nevada County voted 29,342 supporting Prop 64 and 26,043 opposing which means, guess what, Prop 64 won. Here’s a goodie from the Washington Examiner. First Christie, then Sessions then Flynn. He’s turning on his strongest supporters from the beginning.
“President Trump’s legal team is putting together a reactionary plan to cast former national security adviser Michael Flynn as a liar should he accuse President Trump or any of his top aides of wrongdoing, according to a new report.
The new strategy comes after Flynn pleaded guilty to one felony charge of lying to the FBI about his communications with the Russians during the transition period.
Because he has agreed to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia inquiry team, Trump’s attorney’s are ready to fire back if Flynn points a finger at Trump and his team, three sources familiar with the strategy told the Washington Post.”

The Western Wall train named after President Donald J. Trump. Wonder why it wasn’t named after Trump’s predecessor. Hmmm. Obama got his Nobel Peace Prize years ago, as well as Yasser Arafat. Quite puzzling.
Interestingly enough, the President’s son-in-law is a practicing Orthodox Jew. Doesn’t work on Saturdays and even unplugs all cell phones (along with his wife Ivanka) on the Sabbath. At least they did all the way through the primaries and beyond. Don’t know if Jarred stills does or is taking a break from remembering the Sabbath and keeping it Holy.
Anyway, the Dems promised me that I would save 2,500 clams a year with Obamacare. Still waiting. The Dems said my middle class taxes would go up. That is a bold faced lie. Now it know why the WW Train is named after Trump: Trump don’t drink no whiskey nor chew no tobacco. This train don’t pull no liars, this train. (A bit long, but so are trains), especially clean trains.

Walt 10:21- Spent Christmas afternoon at the dirt bike track in Marysville. Great way to let off steam while the kids learn about motors, drones, and catching air. Druggies were never out of sight. Shooting up in the ball field and openly smoking crack and heroin. More than a few people were simply passed out. Never saw a cop. Why is Yuba County calling for a state of emergency over the “evil weed” when there is so much horrible abuse of hard drugs that will actually get you addicted if not kill you outright? How many people commit violent crimes to get their hands on a joint vs how many violent crimes are NOT in some way related to the heavy drugs??

GREAT observation j.Smith. It doesn’t matter what the “need” is at any given moment. Be it weed, or OXY. if one doesn’t have the money or “barter”, a crime will be committed to get it.
Now with a patch on every other parcel, I see the patch pirate death toll to go up. ( Will Paul attend those funerals?) Just try’n to get their fair share of the wealth… Right?

The cops are not in any real hurry to bust druggies. Too much paperwork, and they are out before the report is written.
    Oh.. and thank Prop 47.
The measure required misdemeanor sentencing instead of felony for the following crimes
Personal use of most illegal drugs
Shoplifting, where the value of property stolen does not exceed $950
Grand theft, where the value of the stolen property does not exceed $950
Receiving stolen property, where the value of the property does not exceed $950
Forgery, where the value of forged check, bond or bill does not exceed $950
Fraud, where the value of the fraudulent check, draft or order does not exceed $950
Writing a bad check, where the value of the check does not exceed $950
    In other words,,, WHY bother?
