    Full disclosure: I don’t like Facebook in the least, but it’s there for free. Free stuff is not all bad. I succumbed to peer pressure several years back after being contacted by long lost high school classmates begging me to join FB and keep in touch. So, I went along to go along. As time passed, I unfriended all of them and later set up a fake account under my fake name Bill Tozer to lay a trap for the Fat Boy in Nevada City….which he fell for hook, line, and sinker. :). But, that was in the past…although he is still fat in the present. Fat shaming is still quasi-allowed in our PC society, the last refuge of a scoundrel such as moi. Enjoy it while you can until they take that pleasure away with all the fun stuff.
    I haven’t put on my big boy pants yet and moved on toTwitter, nor intend to. Relics are that way. I can proudly say I never had a My Space account, nor ever considered one, never. That makes me feel superior…..just like a liberal. They say that liberals are they only ones that can look down on others from the gutter. Insert smiley icon here. Never like smiley faces either, though I did thoroughly enjoy Forest Gump. Many parallels in that movie with my own saga. Go figure.
    Ok, best post a link for no particular reason. Hmmm. What to choose, what to choose. Oh, I got one. From modern day Syria. New info from an archeological dig sheds new light on the Christmas story. Wonder how my aunt ended up with the original. Must have been passed down for generations.

    Now Jeffie is dinging me for choosing to get a Master’s from an accredited school with a decent rep that was handy, as opposed to one that had a cachet he approves of. I was working full time and fitting in classes, and LMU fit the bill well enough that my Teri also chose it to broaden her knowledge (she was working as an engineer with a BS Math).
    What a maroon! What an ignoranimus.
    The course you just can’t name correctly is called… Calculus 1A/1B, not “engineering calculus”. The majors that could be taking it are math (imagine that), chemistry, chemical biology (my son started in 1B thanks to AP Calc A/B with a “5”), physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, economics and architecture. Astrophysics, economics.
    It isn’t “engineering math”. Just math math. It’s a universal language, but I guess you were just checking off “engineering calculus” to please your dad
    Yes, Jeff, your father being an “oil exploration geologist” and your refusal to use that label for him ten years later, laundering him as a “scientist” and a “manager” heavy on the latter in later life, will be a gift that keeps giving going forward, as will your taking credit for your kid’s choices in life. Again.

    That’s odd, isn’t it. VICE news has credentials, check out the non-partisan stories there. Buzzfeed, Huffington Post. I think the lesson here might not be the side-taking by Breitbart, there’s nothing at all unusual in that, but that it’s one of the few right-wing media outlets. Between that and the ongoing censorship at Twitter, youtube, etc. it’s fairly obvious to me what the truth really is.
    Good heavens, why am I even responding? It’s not like this whole thing is going to be decided at the ballot box in the long run and listening to a Menshevik is a waste of cycles.

    And no, I didn’t blame the minor error on The Union’s length limit, Jeff. I blamed it on my haste. I also owned up to it.
    I had been responding to the Tucker Martinez piece I was debunking, which went in part,

    “What those quick facts don’t mention is that sea level increase, in the last two decades, is double what it has been the last century. This doesn’t tell you that the warming oceans are directly causing more hurricanes which are also more severe. These quick facts don’t tell you that the carbon dioxide levels never reached higher than 320 ppm before humans started pumping out greenhouse gases. What that doesn’t tell you is that the increases in sea level will continue and that cities at, or below, sea level will be submerged in water and uninhabitable.”

    Bullpucky from start to finish. Sea level change has been generally steady in the last 30 years, cruising towards a rise of perhaps one foot if current trends continue, and I suspect they will. There also have not been more hurricanes nor have they been more severe. And the current co2 level (about .0004 of the atmosphere) is about one fifth it was when mammals first starting crawling about the Triassic Park trying not to get eaten or stepped on by the dominant visible life of the planet.
    And, Jeff, there really has not been an increase in measured sea level since mid-2015 Imagine that.
    PS Ten quatloos on Pelline moving out of town within four years after his kid graduates from high school. Po-dunk.
