Not sure if this is the right place for Flynn talk, but here goes. Obama gave the big middle finger to Israel on the way out the door. No US administration ever took a shit on Israel’s head at the U.N. like Obama did as a parting shot. Couple that with the ninth hour (11th hour) Russian sanctions Obama made on his way out.
The funny thing is that the President- elect’s people informed the Obama Administration of its desire to make contracts with the Russian Ambassador before contacts were made. All on the up and up.. It’s beginning to smell like a set up. Set ‘em up, then knock them down.
Why Flynn lied to the FBI I have not a clue. What we know is that Flynn talked to the FBI without a lawyer. Normally I would encourage anyone talking to the FBI to be forthright, candid, and honest as the day is long. Now, I ain’t so sure without a lawyer present.
Only have talked with the FBI in person once. Back when I was the on-site manager (unpaid) for a non-profit. A quasi halfway house if you prefer. Anyway, one day the FBI came by asking about a female who once frequented the place. Yes, I knew who she was, she had a kid with a former client, and haven’t seen or heard of her in months. No idea of her whereabouts. That was it, all I knew, which was not helpful to the FBI. The father of the female’s child was found dead in a trailer, ODed, and I heard family was raising the kid. The FBI left, never to return. Don’t know why they were looking for her.

Later after the interview, I remembered that someone said she was hanging out in the Pismo Beacjh area, forgot the name of the town. So, I guess if the FBI came back, I could have been charged with lying.becase my story would have changed with the remembrance of more information. Comney already investigated the Flynn’s lie(s) and concluded that Flynn was confused on some details and recall, but did not intentionally lie to the FBI…..as revealed in his testimony to a closed door committee hearing in Congress.
Flynn fought all the charges tooth and nail until he ran out of money. His home is on the market, he owes more than what he is worth, and he is trying to save his son and family from anymore living hell.
I can relate. I sat in a jail once facing some felonies with some nasty time attached, like 5 years or more and two counts. Of course I was innocent and deeply concerned, being locked up thousands of miles from home, not knowing a soul in that neck of the woods. It was a Friday night and the courts were closed till Monday or Tuesday.. The DA came to me on Tuesday morning (I was in chains) and said that their preminilary investigation shows no evidence that felonies were committed by moi. The story was falling apart according to him..
. He offered me a deal to plead guilty to a Class C misdeamenor and I could walk. I told him to way, I am innocent. I did not do what I was being charged with, period. Go pound sand.
The DA then told me I could plead my case in 6 weeks at a trail. 6 weeks! Stuck there for 6 weeks to fight the good fight? Out of state dude not eligible for bail to boot.
I had rent to pay, mouths to feed, taxes to file (April 15th was approaching fast) and need to get back home, like ASAP. I was just in that area of that State for a friggin weekend.
So, I thought about it, called the DA back over, and told him deal, still in chains on my ankles and wrists. I was lead into a courtroom, given 2 minutes with some standby public defender, and faced the Judge. Then I thought about the girls…so liitle…without the only parent they knew. I stammered, stuttered, grimaced, and choked on the magic word trying to get that word out of my mouth. It was hard, darn near impossible, but finally the word out of my mouth. That word was “guilty”.
The Judge-looked straight at me, said “Guilty, but what?” I told him the story. He replied he cannot do anything about my guilty plea and told the guard to get this man out of the courtroom and out of here. A Sheriff patted me on the back, gave me my clothes, led me down a hallway, opened the door and there was a cab waiting for me, in the middle of a blizzard. I left my jacket inside, but never looked back,said screw the jacket, and hopped in the cab the court provided me. A couple years or so later I received a letter in the mail that informed me that the Great State of So-n-So has rescinded my guilty plea and the whole event never happened.
So, yeah, I had it easy. Not so with Flynn. He got destroyed, but I would have taken the plea in the same circumstances. His family came first.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that whenever President Donald J. Trump leaves our shores, former President Obama shows up in the exact same places one or two weeks later. Where was Trump’s first oversees visit? Italy or something. Trump leaves, Obama shows up. Had a nice tea with the world leaders or their closest associates from the countries Trump just visited. Trump goes to China, sure enough Obama hits the region has a nice cup of tea with the Chinese and other Asian countries. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist or assign nefarious deeds to a coincidence in scheduling, but it kinda appears at first glance that somebody other than the current President is conducting foreign policy. Vaguely remember someone saying a private citizen conducting foreign policy is a violation of the….buzzword time…The Logan Act. Good thing I ain’t no conspiracy theorist. That would make me as stupid as I look. Looks never been my strong point. Insert smiley icon here.
Wonder which country and region Trump will visit next? Time will tell.

Specifically according to cited reports , Flynn on the day of the inauguration contacted his former business partner to inform him that all will be well with their Russian deal because the Russians will approve it as soon as Trump backs off the Obama Administrations imposed sanctions. Do you find that to be a legal communication and to what extend is that supposition of Trumps soon to be action classified material. A further question is whether trump knew of the arrangement . Flynn then lied to the FBI and VP about the nature of his phone calls to the Russians. Trump now admits he knew Flynn lied before he fired him and indeed before Flynn lied to VP Pense. Indeed he didn’t inform Pense that Flynn lied to him if you believe Trumps version of the story.

Whereas I look at it and have no reason to think it was more complicated that Obama’s sanctions were stopping it before, and those are going “poof” now that Trump is sworn in.

Don, about Little Puggy Metrosexual Rocket Man.
Yes, we sent our 5th generation planes to join in the war games with South Korea. But, the numbers of planes and equipment were slightly less than last year, something that did not go unnoticed by The Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea. It’s those little gems behind the bluster and media fretting that I find so encouraging.
Trump returning land to the Great State of Utah? Orin Hatch was beaming with delight and even Never Trumper Mike Lee was cheering like there is no tomorrow. Undoing what Obama did going out the door appears to be a full time job.
Oh Jerusalem, oh Jerusalem. It’s that place even mentioned in the Koran? The Ahabs say it’s the 3rd or 4th most sacred place in Islam, yet no one has yet to uncover any holy reference to the holy site to back up that claim. Let’s see. King Solomon built the temple and it stood for centuries. Then the Babylonians came and destroyed it. Then Cyress King of Persia let the Hebrews rebuild it, giving the Jews religious freedom and acknowledging their claim to being the sole holy site to practice their rituals. Then the Romans came and destroyed the city. Then Muhammad appeared on the scene. Then……well, I suppose we could declare New York City as the capital of Israel if we wanted to, but it just would not be the same. Yo Ahabs, poop or get off the pot.
If nothing else, Trump does not seem to follow in his his predecessors’ footsteps and kick a bunch of cans down the road. He must have his head screwed on wrong. He actually believes he can tackle these unsolvable problems. He is not acting like a politician, I must say. He must be crazy. Kick the friggin cans down the road, President Trump , and all will be well. Or maybe not. 🙂

Administrivia – Well sumbich, ScottO (643am) and PaulE (over the years) have made a milestone contribution to these debates. I’ve often wanted to use ‘it’s inconceivable’ as the only support for one of my arguments, and always I’ve backed off with ‘Nah, nobody would accept that.’ But then, conceivability is in the eye of the conceiver, and why shouldn’t my conceivables be as valid as the other guy’s conceivables? So henceforth let it be known that personal conceivability is now an acceptable citation and element of proof. I can already see various levels of conception coming into use, with the indisputable level, from which all other ripostes must shrink, called ‘immaculate conception’.

The text messages that got Mueller’s butt boy Peter removed from the Special Counsel’s team were brought to light by the Inspector General of the Justice Department. Without the IG’s uncovering them, they would have never been an issue and Peter would still be investigating Trump after rewriting Comney’s description of Hillary’s handling of State classified material from the crime of “gross negilence” to the non crime of “extreme carelessness.” Let that sink in. I find it inconceivable that Mueller did not know. The FBI is holding back 10,000 of Peter’s texts, to be released at a time and date yet to be determined……I won’t hold my breath.
Tht is what happens when you abandon principles. Thank goodness for the honesty of the IG of the Justice Department.
They say winners focus on winning and losers focus on winners. That explains the Popinjay’s fixation with Melania’s shoes.

It is safe to speculate that the Russians would use the same techniques and enthusiasm to gather information negative to Trump that they did with HIllary, to obtain leverage if Trump goes south on them. I mean this is a group that hacked emails with negative information towards Hillary to help swing the election towards Trump, There are of other examples of Russians attempting to and in some cases succeeding in hacking into our election computers and election offices.
They indeed took Trumps encouragement when he said ” I will tell you this, Russia: If you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”
That is indeed encouraging a foreign country to break the law of which they obliged and made their findings available to Wikileaks for publication
Yes, my speculation that it is inconceivable that they would not peruse the same tactics against Trump is a more than reasonable speculation considering recent history. The material they gather would then be available as a bargaining chip, to put it likely, they could use against Trump when necessary.
