[I think I'll start this sandbox off with another confirmation of the 'two separate worlds' notion that abets our progress toward the Great Divide. It is always good to climb up the taxonomical tree to see under which branch these individual dust-ups we dissect belong.
A futile exchange on Bob Crabb’s blog (here). Mr Crabb accuses Trump administration members of harboring ‘medieval beliefs’ and being “religious fundamentalists” and people who would lock up gays as “deviants”. Challenging him to provide proof, Bob comes back instead with citations of policies the administration backs as prima facie evidence that such sentiments could only have come from people harboring the detailed medieval beliefs. When I pointed out the difference between policies and the alleged belief systems, as his repartee I was accused of being just like the other medievals and religious fundamentalists, extremists who are “destroying this nation just as much as the extremists on the other side of the fence.” In support, this drew in Messrs Frisch and Anderson, two of our local leftwing's intellectuals, who had similar problems setting up the dots and then correctly identifying their connectedness. In the process I was again accused of being a “traitorous ideologue” who should find a home on other shores. gjr]

The semantically silly accept explanations like that for ‘collusion’ in jons’ 853am. The careful reader notes that it talks about special ‘forms of collusion’, not the definition of collusion which is correctly presented in my recent commentary. Were all collusions understood to involve evil intent, then we would have to coin a new label for “to act together through a secret understanding” for prudence and not evil intent, which is the overwhelming number of collusions that occur daily in our lives. In this discussion it’s interesting to note that such common nuances are often a challenge for liberal minds. We have seen this in the discussion/debates about other notions of logic and socio-politics.

PaulE 1010am – My best guess, most likely shared by millions of Americans, is that Trump had no intention to deceive, and either did not remember or considered any such contacts (of which occur annually by the thousands involving our legislators, business people, professionals, media, etc) not to involve any conspiratorial intent, most certainly not anything illegal. Again, most people (including the Dems and Team Hillary) do not consider engaging parties in a foreign country in their oppo research as being a criminal act as long as it only involves ferreting out facts/truth. It becomes a criminal conspiracy/collusion when such facts are manufactured such as was the case with the Steele dossier funded by the Left.

Grand juries are deliberative bodies that examine evidence presented by prosecutors to determine if the submitted evidence, and ONLY the submitted evidence, provides a sufficient basis for assessing that the defendant (subject of the investigation) may have violated a prosecutable law. Grand juries do this in confidence so as not to compromise an ongoing investigation in the event that they determine the presented evidence is not sufficient to assess probable cause, and in the process besmirch the reputation of those under investigation in the event that sufficient evidence does not turn up.
Prosecutors and special counsels have no such restrictions on their propensity to conduct gratuitous investigations that may turn out to be nothing but witch hunts. They can keep digging as long as the money holds out and their political winds keep blowing in the right direction.
