Bill.You packing to bug out?
We are. No danger yet, but when the wind picks up again that can change.

Funny… folks standing up for footballers right to thumb their noses while on their knees at the SSB ceremony forget that while the executive branch can’t use its powers to deny speech, the Pres and VP also have a freedom of speech to denounce their actions.
Sending the Marines to stand them up at the point of a gun… no can do.
Say “wouldn’t it be nice to see an owner ordering them off the field”… can do.
We can hear the CalFire drops and can smell smoke, but I think we’ll be spared an evac here near Jones Bar, Newtown and Empress. Power has been off since 11:15pm, pg&e has not updated the status and just say be prepared to be out of power for an extended time. The phone and DSL line is up but running from an inverter plugged into the car DC outlet and a 100′ extension cord.

It was spectacular standing on my deck and seeing the red and white DC10 setting up for a water drop. Big airplane, a four engined jet airliner converted to an air tanker.

Huge aviation party foul my friend……DC10 is a three engined beast. The four engined 747 has been flying out of McClellan but I wasn’t sure if it had been approved for an Air Attack role yet!?

Speaking of free speech. The responses generated by my comment that VP Pence disrespected the 1st Amendment rights of kneeling football players have led me to believe that some of you seem to defend the rights of armed nazis and white supremicists (one of whom murdered a woman with his car) to march down the street in Charlottesville flying nazi and confederate flags (no American flag in sight) but do not give those same rights of free speech to mostly black football players quietly, peacefully, taking a knee while the national anthem is played. Multiple Supreme Court decisions have upheld the first amendment right of a person to burn a flag in protest but apparently, in your eyes, kneeling should not be allowed. Like someone’s actions or not, you can’t pick and choose when to support free speech and when to condemn it. The term “hypocrites” comes to mind.

Pence is completely free to bail on the kneelers…..no audience is guaranteed in the constitution. Nobody here said that the players should have been prevented from kneeling……. although there would be grounds for the NFL to do so.

Well, all good at my humble abode, except for the power thing. Last time I mentioned Popinjay’s shithole abode, he got all excited and started talking about exercising his second amendment rights. Too funny. Then poor Mr. Todd got caught up in the Flack and Eistein thought that he (we) were doing drive-bys in of the fake news guy’s docomile. I can just see him now peering out between the curtains twitching like a hoe in church, lol. Sweet. Free rent.
That is not how one stings like a butterfly and floats like a bee. Boo!
Too hip, gotta save power on the gadget I am speaking into. Chao.

That’s some deep thinking there ya po’ ol’ fakenewsman @ 434. If things are so bad that FEMA declares an emergency that makes it a bad situation that is getting worse as opposed to one that they are getting a handle on. I am confident that people would prefer to not have their house burn down over getting FEMA assistance after the fact. 😉

re RobertC’s 454pm – It escapes some that I can respect someone’s 1st Amend rights while disapproving vehemently his exercise of those rights. The former I demonstrate by making no effort to curtail his free speech, the latter I demonstrate by not subscribing to the sentiments so freely expressed – e.g. by choosing not to be a witness to such expressions, or subscribing to their printed or performed versions.

Pence is not expected to stay and get crapped on by some ingrates ball players. Where is that in the Constitution. The players did their thing and Pence did his. He has the high round on this. The left keeps this up along with trying to tar down Christopher and they are doing all of us on the right great favors. So keep it going BB and Cross. Love it!

George 5:28 and others–
I agree that you have the right to choose to boycott the NFL for example, if you don’t like wealthy black men who are expressing their concern about police relations in black communities. However, you are not the Vice President. Once the election is over elected officials no longer just represent their political party, they represent the concerns of all Americans not just those who voted for them. In this case, as a public official, Pence was duty bound to take it like a man and instead of making some political statement by leaving (paid for to the tune of more than $80k by the taxpayers and he didn’t even watch the game) he should have taken the occasion to reflect on WHY these men were acting as they were. Instead of turning his back, he should have wondered why men of wealth and status, such as these, would risk public condemnation, as you seem to want to heap on them, to make a rightful legal public expression of displeasure. As an elected representative of all the people, he is also duty bound to consider the problems of all the people including those expressed by the players. What he and you, are doing is to say “Fuck you, what concerns you doesn’t matter because it doesn’t fit into my narrow political viewpoint.” Houston, we have a problem!
