Paul, when you come back, please do let us know how many of those 1300 kids would have been saved were your idea about registering every firearm been put into action, no matter the cost per gun or the number of guns hidden from the process by folks who don’t trust the keepers of the list. Oh, and the fact that people forbidden guns, like felons and the adjudicated mentally unfit, can’t be compelled to register any firearms they possess illegally.
One source suggests there are 270 million firearms in the USA spread amongst 80 million gun owners. What would those numbers be in Paul’s ideal world?

Checking Peeline’s, there is a post by a father about the harassment of his kid going to and from the high school being repeatedly ignored despite being racially motivated, forcing them to spend $300 a month getting alternative transportation… but Asian kids aren’t covered by the group angst in Grass Valley.

Crabbman, what an asinine thing to write, not that Todd was in a particularly good space, either.
It’s criminal to harass a kid on their way to and from school, and often criminal to harass a kid in other spaces, too. I’d like coverage in The Union that would take it seriously, not just as a nice walk in solidarity with the family. What does the police report say?
Then there’s Mr. Lincoln Okada on the FUE’s blog this morning charging he complained about racial harassment of his son to the high school three years ago to no satisfaction and he had to work around the problem, which has cost him $21k out of pocket… it seems Asians are fair game, or so it appears to that dad.
Yes, “social media” is changing the way we get news. Not always for the better. To others with problems with local schools it pains me to say they don’t take you seriously unless you have an education lawyer on retainer.

Love this site because of the interesting, mostly intelligent comments. I was born and raised here and love it. My favorite cousins lived in the Bay Area. We spent lots of time visiting back and forth. The children’s story about the country and city mice was obvious. They had no idea of rural life meant…I had to remind the one cousin that there are people like him living and walking in the woods so he couldn’t use his gun target practicing wherever. As an adult Sacramento County had our sawmill business take part restoring an old historic ranch so that school children and tourists would understand where their food came from. Thomas Jefferson remarked that when America developed big cities we’d suffer the same problems as Europe. The loss of recognition of where the basic needs of life come from. The most looked down upon people of the world are the most important, because without food, everything comes to nothing. By the way, my Uncle was a physician and surgeon, and his daughter became a medical doctor open to alternative medical treatment to help those ordinary medical procedures didn’t help. Why do I write this? Because I’ve lived here all my life and have seen the spiritual locusts swarming here because they cannot stand the intellectual utopia they created in the city…but are repeating here. Historically this has always been the case with emigrants, because old habits are hard to break…it’s what they’re used to. So before long they remake their new home into what they left behind.

It might be better if the kids stayed home from school, they are not learning much there. I looked at the Common Core testing scores for the Nevada Union Juniors
In Math 47% failed to meet the standard, 23% nearly meet the standard, 20 % met the standard and 10% exceeded the standard.
In English Language Arts/Literacy 21% failed to meet the standard, 23% nearly met the standard, 32% met the standard, and 23% exceeded the standard.

FYI Todd, in case you have missed it.. ISIS claims responsibility for every mass murder and terrorist attack in the world no matter who did it or why. Your rampant hatred of all things Islam distorts your perception. Claiming that the racist incident in Grass Valley was BS is BS and trying to make it a leftist conspiracy of some sort or another is idiotic beyond belief. Your divisiveness is part of the problem not part of the solution.

Don’t have an exact number Gregory but if everyone who owned a gun knew it would be traceable to them as an owner it would make gun owners more conscious of keeping them away from children. Should be a pretty severe penalty.

Apparently, you like ISIS then according to yur post. And a study showed only one incident that ISIS took credit for that was not theirs. You really are a dirtbag BobbieC.

In other words – it won’t prevent any of the deaths he claims he cares about.
The lefts’ answer to everything – make some one else do something so that we lefties can enjoy our virtue signalling. Doesn’t solve any problem at all, but it makes the left feel better.
Does Paul have the stats on how many kids that bring guns to school even have an adult that can be linked to the child as a responsible parent or guardian? If so – why wasn’t the person aware of what the child was bringing to school?
How many times has there been a death at a school because a child has brought a gun and the gun was untraceable?
Until these stats are presented, Paul – you have nothing.

As long as you are waxing hypothetically, Paul, if the “child” whose life is saved is the triggerman for a number of gang murders… can there be a benefit to that?
In other words, Paul… it’s an important problem and you think WE gotta do SOMETHING, yet another half-baked scheme that’s “common sense” based. We’ve been going down the road you’re pointing to for the past 80 years and the problem of senseless violence involving firearms keeps getting worse and worse and worse.
Paul, the gun registration scheme you envision will make criminals out of the otherwise law abiding, AND IT EXEMPTS ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE FORBIDDEN BY LAW TO POSSESS GUNS IN THE FIRST PLACE who, if they have a gun, it’s very possibly stolen in the first place. It’s that pesky 5th amendment… you can’t criminalize the act of not turning yourself in for a criminal act. You have the right to remain silent… remember?

Aaah, so after the fact you’ve actually looked up the laws on the books. Good.
Even after the law was in place here in the formerly Golden State, some DA’s haven’t had the heart to charge grieving parents whose child killed themselves with a poorly secured gun. The fact is (any lawyers out there?) that every gun improperly stored firearm that is taken and used by a child could be considered an act of negligent or criminal negligence even without the specific statute.
