To be fair, you might even find a bit of corruption on the (R) side of our own Curia Julia, I think it’s something that evolves over time in these organizations since people will do anything to stay in power. The Clintons are a particularly heinous example, but I expect that the FDR administration, minus the tinted glasses of history, puts anyone modern to shame.
That’s what makes the Trump ascendancy so funny. A guy with an airplane, tons of energy, and a really good ability to work a crowd, pushes his way into the room. You know, I think it depends on his motivation. If he merely said that the current bill was really poor and that a lot of things blow up if instituted and that his staff would help out 100% on a new one (it isn’t like Senators are smart enough to write legislation), I’d buy into his vote. Trump always gets these things right. Best to keep Obama’s legacy until the pain sets in big time so we all will know what’s in it. Federal subsidies set to expire, Federal portion to states that expanded Medicaid set to be rolled back as written into the law, more folks paying more for less. It’s a good deal for those who cannot or will not hold a job. As they say, it works for those who do not work. Ain’t working too good for those who work, come to think of it. I haven’t seen any produce grown in the U.S. lately. Even canned goods come by slow boat.
“Calif. grown” is almost non existent in our supermarkets.
I have been one of those who paved over farm lands in the valley to build shopping centers and planned communities. Why? did that happen? GOV. regulations. The farmers took the money and ran instead of fighting “Mr. Government”.

Kenny’s bike got stolen. Community steps up to help. Many moons ago I was in the laundromat washing thick blankets. Two young men drove up in a new BMW, dressed in silk shirts and manicured nails. Not locals. Then Kenny comes in and starts talking to them the way Kenny does. The two slick city slickers start yelling at Kenny and calling him a retard and a freak and told him to get out of here.
I calmly walked over to the pair and told them that they best better be nice to Kenny. His father is chief of police and anyone who calls Kenny names will not make it two blocks from here. Last guy that talked that way to Kenny spent weeks in the county jail, after recovering from two broken arm bones, a dislocated shoulder, and multiple broken ribs. “The cops don’t take kindly to anyone messing with Kenny. You won’t make it out of town tonight if Kenny calls his dad.”, pointing to the phone booth outside. Just then a squad car drove by on patrol. Talk about perfect timing! . The two disrespectful men hit the emergency button on the washers, pulled out their wet clothes, and hightailed it out of there. Very odd. ;).

Oh Jonesy. Yep. The first time I saw Jonsey I had pulled into the parking lot behind Mill St (behind Bunces) and there was a guy chanting something most vocally, walking down the sidewalk near BofA pounding on one of those big marching band drums (the kind you carry vertically in front) in a pair of leotard tights,with one leg red and the other leg bright yellow. I asked someone in the parking lot who were also watching the ruckus and fine live mussic and street art, “Who is that?” The man with the strong smell of alcohol on his breath said, “That’s the mayor of Grass Valley.”
For pert near 2 years I believed Jonesy was actually the mayor of Grass Valley. I even told people each and every time I saw Jonsey that he was the mayor of Grass Valley. What a greenhorn. I was really crazy back in those days. Then Trump healed my mind. Is there nothing that man cannot do? 🙂

Well Bill,, from what I heard, “mayor” wasn’t far off. The legend is that Jonesy was a city politician somewhere down South. Then one day he lost his marbles and they gave him a bus ticket to anywhere. And that anywhere wound up being here. That’s the story as I know it.
