[Check out what is happening to our (and all?) economies with the advent of the giga-corporations – Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Facebook – that have created oligopolies in several markets. And the commentary on what these companies know about the dark sides of human affairs – e.g. sources and distribution of fake news – is more than a bit disturbing. More here. gjr]

I wonder w the California democrats gained a Super-Majority (67%) of the Legislature with 44% of the registered voters. Anyone with an idea how this happens?

WaPo today weights democrats plus 12 in respondents over R’s and Indies at 35%. Then, of course, the results are so skewed the public is hornswoggled into a phony belief.

Todd 9:57—It happens Todd, because independent/decline to state voters vote with the Democrats. In a progressive (rather than a regressive) state like CA, the Republicans really have nothing to offer most voters. Their gifts to the wealthy and the multinational corporations at a the expense of the poor and working class only seems to resonate with themselves and, obviously, not enough people to elect a majority. A society is measured not by its greed but by how it treats those in need, something Republicans fail at miserably.

But Cross 1023, the democrats are in charge and if what you say is true about the money then it must be the democrats of California that are to blame. So perhaps you need to rethink your prejudice about the “wealthy”?

There are a groups of Congresspersons, US Senators, and a bunch of folks drawing their paychecks from PACs whose top priority in life is to protect Obama’s legacy.

The gift that keeps on giving. Twice voted the most corrupt person in Congress (albeit not recently ) by a left wing transparency in politics advocacy group. It’s for the little people! The graft that gets on giving. Auntie Maxie, you are the new rock star of the anti-capitalist Democrat Party.

Finally, a blast from the past. Back in the big CA drought days of Jerry Brown in the 70’s, the PSAs filling the airwaves had with a slogan to converse water, more specifically, bathroom water. The catchphrase was “”Yellow is mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down.”
If you don’t die or move far away, you will see it all come back around. Even the typewriter is coming back as people are growing tired of the Internet and going to places filled with tables, paper, and Whiteout where they can pound out letters and papers on the ole typewriters again, but I digress. If it’s boneless brown…

Yep, and to think My Gal won ever so progressive CA with a hundred million gazillion more votes than Trump. That says all you need to now. Now, let’s all sit around the campfire at night in our hobo camps (or in the college dorms) and come up with ways we can get our hands on all that money that had to be stashed somewhere in the big house on the hill. What would you buy? What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine. It’s so unfair. It’s sooo Kalifornication.

I was thinking in terms of:
“because independent/decline to state voters vote with the Democrats. In a progressive (rather than a regressive) state like CA, the Republicans really have nothing to offer most voters. It crams in all the bullet points, but is too lengthy. Maybe something like: “A society is measured not by it’s greed, but how it treats those in need, so we’ll make Republicans bleed”LikeLike

Is this is what Mr. Cross meant by how Progressives do things?
“Much like rebels fighting the Empire, voters responded to this outrage by attempting to recall a Senator who supported the gas tax hike. In a stunning abuse of power, Democrats used the budget process to change the recall rules and slow the effort.
Using the same budget process, they dismantled the Board of Equalization, stripping taxpayers of their right to bring appeals before their elected peers. The Board was independent, often worked in a bipartisan manner, and didn’t march to the Democratic Party’s drumbeat.”

There is one story the green libertarian fakenewsman wont focus on. His po’ ol’ greenie agenda has borne fruit in Germany, they have 30% of their energy from renewables. Wooo hooo.
There is one problem with the eco warrior win in this case, the price of energy is up 50% for the average German household, don’t even ask about the poor grandmas who cant afford to heat their houses. That’s why german companies have been building factories in lower energy cost places like Slovenia. California here we come with back breaking energy costs. Thank you eco warriors who want to kill off all energy access to the masses but are cool with subsidizing Tesla’s for millionaires.
The DOW, NASDAC and S&P all have another record close. 😉LikeLike

“LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles lawmaker leading the fight to make California a so-called “sanctuary state” has suggested half of his family would be deported for using falsified Social Security cards and other fake identification.
California Senate Leader Kevin de Leon made the claims during testimony before the Senate’s Public Safety Committee for SB54, a bill introduced by De Leon that would create a statewide sanctuary for immigrants living in the country illegally.”

“Wait to we get to the debt ceiling fight……!”
Everyone will give in after a bit of posturing.
The endgame is pretty obvious I think. Over time, lots of new entitlements without funding sources, entitlements never go away due to general bitching by population, economy never grows fast enough to pay off new debt, eventually the real bond market (ie. sales to outsiders) collapses and/or the currency radically drops in value. Hilarity ensues. Green Libertarians explain how it should have been done better. Paul reports on Barron Trump’s poll numbers.LikeLike

I love all this political stuff. Wash DC politicians have given us 80,000 pages of Tax laws, 20 trillion in the people’s debt, welfare and illegal immigrants up the wazoo. 100,000 pages of regulations just in the last couple of years and a health insurance system that has failed miserably. Yet Trump, there for 6 months is a whipping boy for those like PE and GB becasue he hasn’t fixed it all yet. Ot looks to me like PE and GB ar just fine with all that has come before. They are simply status quo politcal lemmings.

Since the po’ ol’ pollhead already has his pearls firmly clutched in his paw lets get guns in the conversation.
Chicago is nearly 3 times as dangerous as Afghanistan. Afghanistan has a 5 / 100k violent death rate. Chicago has a 13.5 / 100k. In the 90’s chi town cleared nearly 70% of murders, last year the close rate was 20%. SO is it the guns or the pathetically weak democrat PC administrations that are to blame? 😉LikeLike

New hope for progressives? Whatever drugs you are on, pass some over this way. 🙂
“Sensing an opportunity to appeal to minority communities, in 2015, while running for London Mayor, Sadiq Khan vowed to “do everything in my power to cut stop and search”.
In the year to the end of March 2016, there were 387,448 stop and search procedures conducted by police in England and Wales, a fall of 28% on the previous 12 months.
In that same period, London’s Metropolitan Police announced that gun crime in London had soared 42% and knife crime 24%. Recorded crime was up across virtually every category, with a total 4.5% increase to nearly 774,737 offences.”
And that ain’t even the half of it,
