The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you can see. Winston Churchill

George Rebane

Well, the Dems now have a rip that’s hard to hide – they are a bit fragmented after the election didn’t turn out as bought and paid for, and their intramural shenanigans were exposed to the world, and everyone now wants to become the DNC chairman.  But the real split is between the Bernie and Hillary factions – Bernie is still not sharing his list of double dummies who bought into his communist-lite copy.  But not to worry, they’ll find a way to come together and continue tearing down the vestiges of what the Founders left us.  The Agenda21 goals are still there waiting to be fulfilled; there are more items that need to be checked off.

Union columnist Mr George Boardman, who also graces these pages from time to time, made a remarkable assertion in his 16jan17 column comparing the gains and pains to different constituencies from a Trump presidency – “For Trump’s detractors, the worse will mean a halt to the social advancement of those of us who aren’t white heterosexual males, an end to that annoying “political correctness,” more polluted air and water, an end to reproductive and other rights women have taken for granted, and a general coarsening of what passes for civility.”

It’s hard to catch all the head-turners in that breezy list, and I wager that many did not.  In what recent decade were white heterosexual males still deemed by anyone to be advancing socially in America?  What evidence is there that Trump can outdo the EPA’s and other agencies’ screw ups in creating “more polluted air and water”?  Withdrawing federal funding of abortions suddenly spells “an end to reproductive and other(sic) rights women have taken for granted”?!!  And the “general coarsening” of “civility” occurs almost entirely when leftwing thugs smash windows, burn and loot stores, defecate on police cars, and trash public parks and streets when they rally and march, all in the name of demanding their civil rights (aka more money from the government).

The Clinton Global Initiative is kaput.  This demonstrates in the most convincing way possible that the whole Clinton thing has been a ‘pay for play’ scam of magnificent proportions.  How many of us were vilified by the local lefties when we pointed this out in the months before November.  Today it's suddenly hard to find people who voted for Hillary and will still defend the woman, her crooked family, and corrupt enterprises.  The lamestream has also been cooperatively reticent to report the countries, international bigwigs, and tinpot dictators who pulled their CGI ‘memberships’ and ‘donations’ after Hillary’s loss.  But there is an upside – little people will get to hear Hillary and Bubba who are now much more affordable and available to speak at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Resume Speed, Oregon.

[update]  Ever wonder why no one has brought up Sen Ted Kennedy’s documented entreaties to the USSR to help defeat President Reagan in his 1984 re-election has never made the news?  That would open some eyes now focused on the unfounded allegations breathlessly reported about Trump’s personal life and contacts with the Russians.  Where are the banner headlines?  (more here, here, and here)

The Left’s reconstruction of Obama’s legacy now in full swing includes a prominently paraded and most remarkable meme claiming that our first half-black president’s tenure was scandal free.  Leftwingers (including some RR readers) have been employing that narrative in the attempt to cover up the trials and tribulations visited on us by both Clintons and paint the pre-inaugurated Trump administration as being already corrupt.  In ‘Obama’s ‘Scandal-Free Administration’ Is a Myth’ Messrs John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky set the record straight.

“Trump’s extreme agenda” according to Mayor de Blasio is the new president’s intent to enforce federal immigration laws in self-declared ‘sanctuary cities’, while the political leaders of such cities that harbor illegal aliens, who are fugitives from justice, are not practicing an extreme agenda when they break the laws of the land and impede federal agents attempting to enforce the law.  And to think otherwise makes one a radical rightwinger and racist.  Such is the normal working of a liberal mind.

[18jan17 update]  Is it now safe to say that The Union is solidly a leftwing newspaper?  Given the strongly-denied, recent longer term audit (here, here, and here), the current spate of pre-inauguration columns and letters, today punctuated with an unmistakably partisan editorial (here) by the paper's Editor Mr Brian Hamilton, it seems that there is no question about which way our local paper leans, or has toppled.  No blame, no shame about all that unless they continue to bullshit the community that they are still an impartial observer and a balanced voice about matters socio-political.  Most certainly it is not what the local looney Left claims is "The Tea Party Gazette".

President Obama, true to established form, today delivered two whoppers during his last news conference as president.  He told us of an America that still has a “small sliver of folks” who are doing very well, (seatbelts please) while the rest of the country “struggles for scraps”.  Then he gave us the reason for that being that “people of color” aren’t out there doing enough voting because the “United States is the only country among developed countries that makes it harder for people to vote.”  Ever try to vote in Denmark, or Germany, or the UK, or … without having to prove your citizenship and/or residency?  Nevertheless, it is most appropriate that the man exits spewing consistent copy that has characterized his term in office.

You can go on and on and only show your ignorance of the real facts PE. The CRA was only one part of the destruction of a perfectly functioning industry that took a long time. Someone take poor Paul aside and explain there are big slums in CA. 😉

hat importance do you give to the rigging of the credit ratings in the collapse? Should those who rigged the ratings have been arrested for fraud?
“Perhaps more than any other single event, the sudden mass downgrades of (residential mortgage-backed securities) and (collateralized debt obligation) ratings were the immediate trigger for the financial crisis,’’ the staff for Senators Carl Levin and Tom Coburn wrote in their report.
The findings come after the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations spent two years poring over countless documents and holding hearings on the causes of the crisis. The probe only focused on the two largest rating agencies; it did not study Fitch Ratings.

There you go again PE, making my point for me. The systematic problems started in the 90’s. You know nothing other than what hufpo tells you to say on this.
Walt 454- The Trump team is saying they have planned for a 20% reduction in fed civilian employees. You can easily guess where the deepest cuts will be. IF 28% quit that means job openings! 😉

Trump is”fixing the mess” by hiring some of the same people that started and profited by it re:Steve Mnuchin . That’s why the discussion is relevant.
“By slamming through Mnuchin, Senate Republicans are becoming accessories to Trump’s future corruption, helping him stack his cabinet with shady billionaires who, like Trump, will rig the government to serve their own interests at the expense of the American people,” said Shripal Shah, vice president of American Bridge.“By slamming through Mnuchin, Senate Republicans are becoming accessories to Trump’s future corruption, helping him stack his cabinet with shady billionaires who, like Trump, will rig the government to serve their own interests at the expense of the American people,”

The BIG Lie: “We are not a compassionate society. In terms of our relationship to poor and working people, our record is worse than virtually any other country on Earth.” —Bernie Sanders
Delusions of grandeur: “I think the new administration, frankly, is coming to power with the wind at their back because of the strength of our economy and because of the role that we’ve played being engaged with countries in sound diplomacy over the course of the last eight years — and four for me.” —John Kerry
The understatement of American history: “No one is sorry to see this guy go.” —William J. Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations
Non Compos Mentis: “Even though we’re still a few days from his inauguration, there’s already a mountain of evidence that proves without any doubt that we can’t trust Donald Trump. Our work to keep Donald Trump from running the most corrupt administration in our history has already started.” —DNC fundraising email (The DNC knows a thing or two about corruption…)

Kellyanne looks good tonight. She deserves it after what she will go through. Most people don’t know she has a young child at home (yes, at her age), a 6 (?) million dollar/year polling business, has a husband who she is madly in love with and really just wanted to go home and be with her child, be a Mom again, husband is successful, and get back to her polling business.. She said no to staying on. No again. She is going to work to for us for 125k a year job with gawd awful hours away from the two loves of her life. D.C. Private schools and daycare centers have refused to take her kid.
    Kellyanne is sacrificing a lot.

Oh my Walt. Looks like they are not use to us fighting on THEIR turf. See, Trump don’t know the rules. The rules are the Republicans occupy their seats and the Dems govern, no matter who has the majority. Duh.
Trump is a very bad man. He does not know the rules and you can’t teach him a thing.
You do realize that their overreach will work in our favor and strike a cord with our sense of fairness. It’s who we are as Americans. I started hearing it 3 days ago. “It’s no secret that I am no fan of Trump, but I see him out there all by himself, and I think it time we rally between him. “What they are trying to do to him just ain’t right. It’s not right.”
Thin bench. Now Feinstein? Another one for the wood chipper. Next.
This is how I see it. The chess player worked for the Ukrainian forgein minister. An election elected a Russian leaning President of Ukraine. The US ( Obama, My Gal, CIA of course) starting doing the coup thing, messing with the election and getting our preferred man in. Regime change again. Ofcoursr Putin knows this, the ex Ukranian Foreign Ministet knows this, the Chess Player knows this…..which means Trump knows this. Mums the word. The Chess Game.

Trump looked terrible during the opening invocati0on. He couldn’t concentrate enough to keep his eyes closed during the prayers and looked looked he hadn’t slept in weeks with odd puffy blue rings below his eyes and jerky gestures with his cheeks. Certainly paid no reverence to the moment.

Oh, that was just PE describing the man in the mirror to a tee. Perfect. Left nothing out.
What a darlk glum lot. MSMBC is using the “dark” narrative as their mantra . But, does anyone care one iota what the humorless ones say or think? No moi. They proven to be fake. Saw that weird looking dude R. Maddox is still making his funny faces and talking about “dark”. There is a certain comfort in his prediciblity and consistency. Face seems to be non symmetrical. Gives me the heebee geebees. Style over substance I reckon.
Speech was substance over style. Straight down to business. I even had a twinge of uncomfortableness for Nobama when Trump mentioned the scourge of “Rafical Islamic Terrorism”. And about the decay of America stops now.
As far as style over substance, Laura Bush looked like her graceful and charming self. Jimmy Carter looked like Jiminy Cricket and George W Bush was cracking smiles. Elizabeth Dole still has her warm inviting smile.. It’s too bad that some chanted “Lock Her Up, Lock Her Up” when Hillary came out. Geeze, it was an Inauguration, not a Bernie Rally. Hillary and Bill looked dark at times and spoke in short sentences, no humor, and absolutely no charm.
    Historical Day.
