The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you can see. Winston Churchill

George Rebane

Well, the Dems now have a rip that’s hard to hide – they are a bit fragmented after the election didn’t turn out as bought and paid for, and their intramural shenanigans were exposed to the world, and everyone now wants to become the DNC chairman.  But the real split is between the Bernie and Hillary factions – Bernie is still not sharing his list of double dummies who bought into his communist-lite copy.  But not to worry, they’ll find a way to come together and continue tearing down the vestiges of what the Founders left us.  The Agenda21 goals are still there waiting to be fulfilled; there are more items that need to be checked off.

Union columnist Mr George Boardman, who also graces these pages from time to time, made a remarkable assertion in his 16jan17 column comparing the gains and pains to different constituencies from a Trump presidency – “For Trump’s detractors, the worse will mean a halt to the social advancement of those of us who aren’t white heterosexual males, an end to that annoying “political correctness,” more polluted air and water, an end to reproductive and other rights women have taken for granted, and a general coarsening of what passes for civility.”

It’s hard to catch all the head-turners in that breezy list, and I wager that many did not.  In what recent decade were white heterosexual males still deemed by anyone to be advancing socially in America?  What evidence is there that Trump can outdo the EPA’s and other agencies’ screw ups in creating “more polluted air and water”?  Withdrawing federal funding of abortions suddenly spells “an end to reproductive and other(sic) rights women have taken for granted”?!!  And the “general coarsening” of “civility” occurs almost entirely when leftwing thugs smash windows, burn and loot stores, defecate on police cars, and trash public parks and streets when they rally and march, all in the name of demanding their civil rights (aka more money from the government).

The Clinton Global Initiative is kaput.  This demonstrates in the most convincing way possible that the whole Clinton thing has been a ‘pay for play’ scam of magnificent proportions.  How many of us were vilified by the local lefties when we pointed this out in the months before November.  Today it's suddenly hard to find people who voted for Hillary and will still defend the woman, her crooked family, and corrupt enterprises.  The lamestream has also been cooperatively reticent to report the countries, international bigwigs, and tinpot dictators who pulled their CGI ‘memberships’ and ‘donations’ after Hillary’s loss.  But there is an upside – little people will get to hear Hillary and Bubba who are now much more affordable and available to speak at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Resume Speed, Oregon.

[update]  Ever wonder why no one has brought up Sen Ted Kennedy’s documented entreaties to the USSR to help defeat President Reagan in his 1984 re-election has never made the news?  That would open some eyes now focused on the unfounded allegations breathlessly reported about Trump’s personal life and contacts with the Russians.  Where are the banner headlines?  (more here, here, and here)

The Left’s reconstruction of Obama’s legacy now in full swing includes a prominently paraded and most remarkable meme claiming that our first half-black president’s tenure was scandal free.  Leftwingers (including some RR readers) have been employing that narrative in the attempt to cover up the trials and tribulations visited on us by both Clintons and paint the pre-inaugurated Trump administration as being already corrupt.  In ‘Obama’s ‘Scandal-Free Administration’ Is a Myth’ Messrs John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky set the record straight.

“Trump’s extreme agenda” according to Mayor de Blasio is the new president’s intent to enforce federal immigration laws in self-declared ‘sanctuary cities’, while the political leaders of such cities that harbor illegal aliens, who are fugitives from justice, are not practicing an extreme agenda when they break the laws of the land and impede federal agents attempting to enforce the law.  And to think otherwise makes one a radical rightwinger and racist.  Such is the normal working of a liberal mind.

[18jan17 update]  Is it now safe to say that The Union is solidly a leftwing newspaper?  Given the strongly-denied, recent longer term audit (here, here, and here), the current spate of pre-inauguration columns and letters, today punctuated with an unmistakably partisan editorial (here) by the paper's Editor Mr Brian Hamilton, it seems that there is no question about which way our local paper leans, or has toppled.  No blame, no shame about all that unless they continue to bullshit the community that they are still an impartial observer and a balanced voice about matters socio-political.  Most certainly it is not what the local looney Left claims is "The Tea Party Gazette".

President Obama, true to established form, today delivered two whoppers during his last news conference as president.  He told us of an America that still has a “small sliver of folks” who are doing very well, (seatbelts please) while the rest of the country “struggles for scraps”.  Then he gave us the reason for that being that “people of color” aren’t out there doing enough voting because the “United States is the only country among developed countries that makes it harder for people to vote.”  Ever try to vote in Denmark, or Germany, or the UK, or … without having to prove your citizenship and/or residency?  Nevertheless, it is most appropriate that the man exits spewing consistent copy that has characterized his term in office.

An attentive reader with an open mind understands that the paragraph you cite from my Jan. 16 column in The Union illustrates the fear of Trump’s opponents, just as the second paragraph in the column reflects the optimism of his supporters. As I maintain in the column, the reality is likely to be somewhere between those extremes.
My column is a lot easier to understand if you disable your political filter before reading it.

GB, your analysis of what Republicans do in office is greatly affected by your Dem tendency to look at Presidential outcomes as if they were kings.
The last four score years were essentially owned by Dems, punctuated by bare GOP majorities in Congress

GeorgeB 747am – Of course you listed the “fear of Tump’s opponents”, but that does not remove those fears from their belief system, which has been in place for at least a couple of generations, and which they have sought to convince all America (through their media, union schools, and academe) as the reality of conservative governance regardless of what history records. There is no contradiction in fearing what you consider to be real.
A careful reading of my commentary would reveal that I am a critic of such a worldview on the merits of its verity. However, what would be most welcome from a thoughtful and studied man of the center like you Mr Boardman is an exposition of your own socio-political credo. People clutching that center stripe have a most difficult time penning a few tenets of their own. As Exhibit A, our friend and your ideological colleague RL Crabb has declined the same invitation for years.

Ads in two dozen cities offer protesters up to $2,500 to agitate at Trump inaugural
Demand Protest ads running seek operatives to “send a strong message” at presidential inauguration
“Get paid fighting against Trump!” says the ad.
“We pay people already politically motivated to fight for the things they believe. You were going to take action anyways, why not do so with us!” the ad continues. “We are currently seeking operatives to help send a strong message at upcoming inauguration protests.”

    More HERE.
I see the Bikers from Oklahoma and Texas are on their way to the presidential inauguration. There plan to form a human chain between the protesters and inauguration participants. It could turn into a riot of the first order. Now that is something to fear!

Watching the “news” shows is really quite entertaining. The lefty people are truly unhinged. The people on the right are simply realistic and hopeful for America. And they are finally standing up to the libs and not letting their lies go unchallenged. I am especially proud of the black conservatives since they are ruthlessly attacked by the libs, mostly white libs. The black leftists seem to be unable to get past 1860 and in my view are irrelevant to the success of the country. Rather than talking about success they talk about defeat.

Most people confuse the Clinton Global Initiative with the Clinton Foundation. The CGI was set up to be a for profit arm for Bubba. It’s the one we read about on Wikileaks concerning Doug Band. It would take at least 71 pages to explain all the various off shoots of the Foundation, many set up through Canada. Canadian law does not require donors’ names to made public.
With that said, forensic accountants say the Foundation and its complex network of spin offs may be near impossible to unravel. Originally set up through the Price Waterhouse branch in Little Rock.
This link appears to try to be fair and resists the temptation to jump to conclusions at critical junctures. Does not appear to bogus or fake news, but who has the time to verify everything? The CGI:

My and other readers’ interest is to discover the particulars of a middle-roader’s belief system. And what most disturbs me is why you would consider my level of understanding and ability to assimilate new information to be so poor as to make your effort to explain “fruitless”. But posit that I’m really a double dummy, then the explication of your tenets would still be of benefit to the multitudes of regular RR readers brighter than me.

    Fish, maybe you are right.
    On another front,
The dustup started by Representative John Lewis and Trump is a good example of liberal hypocrisy. We all are proud of Lewis for his efforts during the 60’s regarding civil rights for blacks. But I ask how long are we supposed to give him a pass for his foolish actions and statements? Trump won fair and square. It has been fifty years since Lewis was knocked on the head! I like the example of the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. He almost died on the operating table yet when he recovered he was ostracized and attacked relentlessly by the left and their media pals. Lewis should stand on his record. If he does we all will see what a political failure he has been for his constituents in Atlanta. But the press won’t tell you that truth. Same for Maxine Waters. A total failure for her Watts constituents. It still looks like a riot just happened there. But she and her hubby got into banking and are now wealthy. Her voters are mostly poor blacks and some poor latinos. If you are sick of all these failures getting praise from the media, pass this along and make some comments. If America is to become better, these dinosaurs of the left must be defeated for office and replaced by DOERS!

    Here is a example:
During the LA Riots of 1992, Waters practically justified, if not outright defended, the rioting, pillaging, and looting which took place:
“If you call it a riot, it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason. I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable. So I call it a rebellion..

Mr. Boardman’s editorial did not raise any flags with me. It was just his view of how the Looney Left views the Hard Core Right and vice versa. Or, it was just Mr. Boardman being Mr. Boardman. You can always count on the reference to Y-T, so that is a given. I would have liked for him to expound on the fear in the air, but he did not have unlimited space to include everything. Lately he is on the “Obamacare, What’s Next?” kick and of course Y-T. At lease he stopped running over here yelling “Racist!” and run back into hiding. That is progress.
Mr. Crab is an equal opportunity offender when he sees things paradoxical, ironic, absurd, or foolish going down. Sometimes he gets lucky and a gift is dropped in his lap and sometimes he has to work for every penny on slow news weeks. As a descendant of a political cartoonist that got run out of Chicago, I have a soft spot for RL. A political cartoonist is expected to poke Da Man in the eye or else he why read it? Yeah, he really gets going when he sees something he just plum don’t like.
With these niceties aside, Dr. Rebane’s point still stands. Despite repeated invitations, I have yet to see anyone state their tenets and social-political credos. That usually ends the conversation right there and now. Usually? Ok, always is the conversation stopper.
Perhaps Steve tried once. Steve will answer questions when asked. Got to give him credit for that. Brother Ben has submitted unprompted a Philosophical Theorist thesis that was more akin to a blend of the Communist Manifesto’s worker’s Paradise, OWS, Robert Reich, The Grapes of Wrath and Wal-Mart heirs bashing, aka. Ralph Nader marries Jill Stein. If he would ever venture out into mentioning technology, it would probably parallel the Unibomber’s Manifesto.
Again, to be fair, some of the Unibomber’s Manifesto warnings and predictions are starting to come true. Go figure.

Brad C. You misunderstand Trump. Rosie attacked him first, which started game on. A feminist author told me exactly that a couple of years ago who happened to see Rosie’s comments on The View. I was shocked that she, a 2nd wave feminist, defended Trump because Rosie started it. I was also shocked she watched the View. That wave of feminists believed in fairness over personalities. Fairness and equality above all else, even politics. Add rigid honestly to fairness and equality.
Same with McCain. Same story.with all of them. Even that disabled reporter…Trump though the NYT reporter was mocking him. Lewis called Trump’s win illegitimate, thus game on. Had nothing to do with Lewis in Selma. Reagen is dead and unable to call Trump names, thus Reagen is safe. 🙂
Like it or not, Trump will let no slight go unanswered. Not in him. Trump is no respector of a person’s status, fame, accolades or position in life. The silver lining gets his message out without filters or calling a press conference.and relying on them to spread the news. Instant transparency.
Back to Lewis. No apology from Trump came. No I misspoke. Trump then doubled down. Called Lewis a liar for saying he never boycotted an inauguration before. Said he had done nothing for his district. Lewis’s spokesperson issued a muffled retraction today. Lewis boycotted W’s inauguration because W’s win was also “illegitimate” . Go figure.
Odd, the press has yet to find one black person that Lewis has helped in his Georgia’s district after all these years in Congress, but I digress. And Trump does not need an invite from Lewis to go to Selma. Alabama went 63% Trump, 34% Hillary.

What Russ Steele reports in his 901am is IMHO reprehensible political behavior, damn near to the old practice of paying for votes that was practiced by party and union bosses of yore. When such doings are brought up, all leftwingers automatically go into ‘duck and cover’ mode leaving their crickets to do the heavy lifting. Hiring people to go demonstrate against one of the most sacrosanct happenings in our republic is sleaze at its ultimate, and remaining silent about it comes in at a close second.

@ 12:53. Sadly, we have seen it too many times from the Dems. Guess we are getting conditioned to it by now. Ads to pay agitators for violence hit newspaper classifieds in Oklahoma yesterday. Yes, even in Oklahoma.
The Chicago 7 were charged with crossing state lines to incite and disrupt. I foolishly thought after the Project Veritas tapes emerged, the FBI would be knocking at Richard Creamer’s door. Instead I posted a pic of Richard Creamer standing in the front row of Obama’s televised Farewell Speech in Chicago, coincidently about the exact same time the Golden Shower fake news hit the internet.
No one cared about Richard Creamer’s criminal record nor his 200 trips to the White House. And Creamer only paid up to $1,500/day, plus doctor’s bills, room and board.. The new bunch is paying up to $2,500/day.
Remember the time a Southern mother drove her kids into a pond and drowned them, The entire nation was shocked. Beyond words. Pundits, searching to make sense of it all, even blamed her husband for not getting her enough mental health help, or not being home more for her, or failing to recognize more of the signs. TV had advice to parents to relieve their children’s fears that they, too, might be drowned and the best way to explain this shocking story to the young ones. The national discussion went on for days. Today, I see a news story about some mother or father killing their 3 children, I don’t bother to read the article past the first couple of sentences…if that. Conditioned I guess.
I really expected a firestorm about paid protestors for Jan 20…….ain’t happening. Even got them planning mayhem for the Inauguration on audio. Crickets. Means justify the ends. It is almost like the Left expects from their party goons for this to happen. There better be some rioting, chaos, and head cracking!! We expect carnage!
What has been smoked out into the open is how nasty, how dirty, how vicious, how dispectible they are. True colors. I knew they were some real mean SOBs, but even moi am surprised. And they cry foul for months over uttering “grab the passé”. It’s who they really have become. Soulless. They have unmoored themselves from anything resembling a conscious. What makes matters worse, is they well funded.
Welcome to today’s America. The only sound from the smoldering timbers is crickets.

Off topic, but on thread. Excuse my errant ways.
RE Disrespect, ridiculed, excommunicated, and with so many arrows in our backs we look like porcupines, yet somehow still standing at the end of the day.
When I get discouraged and grow weary of the barrage lately, I remind myself that Trump won the popular vote in the 49 states outside of CA. I remind myself that there are more of us than of them. It’s hard to see it and feel it living where we live.
When I grow weary, I realize that the only one who still appears to be striking back with unlimited energy and ready to pounce like a cornered tiger is Trump. I remind myself that the real haters represent only 20-25% of the nation and the media is their microphone. They are but mere mortals on stilts, not giants. The bark is frightening, so much bigger than the bite.
When I get discouraged and feel overwhelmed, I remember those 30,000 souls standing in sub-freezing weather at 1:30 am on Election Day early morn awaiting to cheer and energize the exhausted Trump stumbling and staggering to finally reach the finish line and hear him say one last time together we can do this, we will win, and win, and win…..even when the media mocked him for even setting foot in Michigan, when losing looked certain, but not an option. Those 30,000 frozen pairs of boots in the open field did not give up, did not cave in the last hours of the long bitter fight.
When I feel like I am alone in a hostile planet I can barely recognize as the place of my birth, I realize there stands in the mist the brave ones, the ones who have not bent their knee to Baal, the ones who may appear few but are in reality many, and my spirit is refreshed in the confidence they have my back and I have theirs.

California Strikes a Bold Pose as Vanguard of the Resistance
This will not end well for California and will have future consequences for the cities in this failing state.
In the months since the election of Donald J. Trump, California has turned into a laboratory of resistance — championing legal, legislative and political strategies to counter Republican policies while pressing the kind of new Democratic policies that presumably will not be coming out of Washington anytime soon.
The state lieutenant governor, Gavin Newsom, who is running for governor, said California could use its stringent environmental protection law to block Mr. Trump from building a wall along the Mexican border. In Sacramento, Gov. Jerry Brown and lawmakers are pressing bills to expand environmental protections, provide legal assistance for immigrants facing deportation and raise gasoline taxes to pay for highway construction.
“An earned-income tax credit,” said Anthony Rendon, the speaker of the Assembly. “Huge infusions for early-childhood education. Those types of things are certainly things that we are interested in doing.”
Democratic members of the California delegation to Congress are lining up to announce they will not attend the inauguration of Mr. Trump. And in Los Angeles, Sheila Kuehl, a member of the powerful county board of supervisors, has started what she has called “Operation Monkey Wrench,” urging people, including state and federal government workers, to systematically disrupt Trump policies that run counter to California laws and policies.

Yet August 2016 Trump is quoted as saying “”No, just so you understand, he said very nice things about me, but I have no relationship with him. I don’t — I’ve never met him. … I have no relationship with Putin. I don’t think I’ve ever met him. I never met him. ”

Here is my response to Brian Hamilton’s screed today.
OK I get it that you don’t like Trump. But why so biased? Thin skinned? No, he is not. He simply does not allow someone to attack him without a response. I find it interesting you glossed over Lewis’ “illegitimate” claim (which he did to GW Bush as well) and attacked Trump. And you left out the democrats not going to the inauguration and their attacks on those that want to attend as entertainers. Why is that? Steve Harvey is getting many death threats apparently, and just for meeting with Trump. Is that “thin skinned” of the democrats and their people?
Your screed shows us why no one believes your profession any more. No fairness, no balance and totally biased. It shows up in what you pick to out in the paper and who gets to comment from your Editorial Board. I have been a subscriber for fifty years as were my folks. I will continue because I like to see what the opposition does. Obama lost, Trump won.
Regarding the “tone”. No doubt Obama speaks well and has a pleasant voice. He reminds me of the scorpion on the frog. Now with his pardon of Chelsea of Wikileaks infame, you really should look inside yourself for Obama’s reasons. Did Obama set it up to defeat Hillary by doing this. He had a relationship with the traitor? Did the democrats not excoriate Wikileaks and now their President pardoned the source? Come on, do a OP_ED about that would you please?

“If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”

    Probably!

re PaulE’s 1006am – Even the casual reader will note that no liberal wants to address the documented Kennedy/USSR caper, but would rather pretend that the unproven allegations about his collusion with the Russians remain firmly pasted on the windshield as an historical first.

Obama my guy? I voted for Obama first time around, Gary Johnsom second time. I like Obama personally but didn’t feel he was up for the job. You voted for Bush both times even though he was totally a failure in his first term. We saw what happened in his second term and that has your name on it. Even your guy Trump agrees with me on that, calling for his impeachment for lying about Iraq.

You’ve got the Trump tattoo on your forehead that’s gong to follow you around for a long time. It won’t wash off. Sorry about that.

Kennedys were/are GODS to the Left. Clintons are next to them on Mt. Olibus.
It doesn’t matter what crimes they perpetrated. From driving drunk and killing a person, to subversion. “Thou shalt not speak ill of either”.
I’m sure Paul can produce a poll on that.

Paul Emery1038, tattoo? You really have lost your mind haven’t you? You are slobbering all over Obama with every post, you will carry that all the rest of your life. And I voted for the winner in 2004.

Another great article you have posted. Akin to your American Thinker link about Political Correctness that resonates with me and I still kick it about in my noggin.
A money quote for me is:
“Three-quarters of liberals say they prefer to live where “the houses are smaller and closer to each other, but schools, stores, and restaurants are within walking distance,” according to a Pew survey. An equal portion of conservatives say they prefer places where the houses are larger, but amenities are more distant…”
That quote may explain Steve’s surprisingly (to me at least) thinly veiled contempt for “rural” voters. The quote above is a direct threat to stack and pack surrounded by open space. We be bitter clingers and Deplorables…no doubt. Or as Dr. Rebane might say, a threat to Agenda 21. I moved here….by choice as a compromise between the “too many rats in the cage” and the boonies where it was a 70 minute drive to the nearest ER/ clinic to get patched up. Or a 3 hour drive to the nearest Sam’s Club to stock up in provisions.
Them Irredeemables got Midwestern Values far outside of the Mid-West. Go figure. Ah well, they will all die off sooner or later. Patience, Steve, patience. 🙂
Every year after the livestock auction at the Fair, you can count on a Letter to the Editor asking basically why in the hell is Nevada County still classified as a rural county? That’s insane. Our own little culture war being played out across the vast wasteland known as flyover country.
Demographic changes and projections are valid. No agrument here. Mike Barone has spent his life digging into every precinct in the Midwest and rural Pennsylvania and penned a short essay “Where did the black voters go?” Answer: They moved. Moved from the North to the Sun Belt.

Yeah a real winner for America, Bush in 2004. Total economic collapse at the end of his term. Don’t bother to respond that it was the Democrats fault not Bush’s
