Here is the actual Code Todd,
§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.
My prediction is that in about 18 months we are going to know that there were contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian government officials, that contact included coordinating messaging and releases of Wikileaks documents, that Paul Manafort was one of the conduits, and this administration will be mired in scandal over the issue.
Don: The President and Vice President are exempt from complying with Title 18 Section 208 of the Federal Code, which defines conflicts of interest, but they are not exempt from other federal laws that create restrictions on business activity, self dealing and what is inevitable when one has such broad international holdings and does not divest them….corruption. Trump’s family members will also be subject to all laws governing business activities. I believe it is almost humanly impossible for the family members to avoid being quickly embroiled in one conflict or corruption scandal after another unless they divests.
But that is fine, if you want to support a President of the United States of America who would want to maintain his business holdings at the age of 70 to assuage his ego rather than focus all of his time and attention on serving the people of the United States and …and can stomach that…expect the drip…drip…drip.

Frisch, you and your fellow Dems are dogpiling on the next Trump target, an assumption the Trump admin will be as scandal ridden as the Obama years, only with an eager press corp at the ready. Good luck wid dat, eventually a handful of crap thrown into the fan might hit him, or, once again, it may just make another mess.
2018, more than half the Dem senate seats are up. Make sure youse guys don’t pull any punches in the meantime. Fight for every inch, never give up, never surrender. Leave no turd undisturbed.

Historians will consider the Obama administration as amongst the least personally scandal ridden in history. There have not only been remarkably few incidents of personal corruption in his administration there was not one that touched him.
As far as leaving turds unturned, I recommend you get together with Walt for that.

What ever happened to the Trump is an anti-Semite chorus? You remember. As soon as the election was over….er…as soon as Hillary conceded, it was like a pinball machine bouncing off every bumper and newsfeed in America. Trump is an anti-Semite! Trump is a KKK Nazi Jew hater!!
Psst. Come to find out our President-elect’s son-in-law is an Orthodox Jew. Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump observe the Sabbath and do not work Saturdays. They also unplug their phones on the Sabbath.
When Obama found out about that, he sent John Kerry straight to the UN to stab Israeli in the back. Trump is an anti-Semite!
American members of Hamas were invited to the White House by Obama…..several times. But, we won’t talk about that.

When explaining how he would (somewhat) extricate himself from his myriad conflicts of interest this week, President-elect Donald Trump and his tax lawyer completely ignored what would happen to the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. It looks like he also failed to discuss that with the government agency that holds the hotel lease.
Trump’s deal with the General Services Administration to operate a hotel in the Old Post Office building specifically states that the lease cannot be held by an elected official. And the clock is ticking down to Trump’s inauguration.
My Goodness

This is the firs of 14 fake news bu Trump stories I’m going to feature on this blog for your reading pleasure:
1. Obama is a Kenyan Muslim who never attended Columbia University.
Report Advertisement
Trump began courting his base in 2011, when he assumed a position as a lead voice among the birthers, a group of racists and Islamophobes desperate for any reason to delegitimize the first black president. For half a decade, Trump relentlessly peddled birtherism and other overtly racialized lies. He suggested that President Obama fabricated his time at Columbia University, a favorite contention among a right-wing that reserves a particularly visceral hatred for educated “elites” of the uppity black variety. Trump also demanded—demanded, with all the gall and entitlement of a mediocre “self-made” white trust fund kid—that Obama prove he was good enough and American enough to hold the office. To ensure this demand was as demeaning as possible, Trump offered Obama $5 million (he would later lie and say it was $50 million) to show his passport and longform birth certificate, as if Obama would shuck and jump at the money. When Trump finally dropped all the birther stuff earlier this year, he tried to slither out of it via more fake news, and invented a story pinning the whole thing on Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton was too ill to serve as president.
Like his income taxes, Trump has never released his medical records, and now that 63 million idiots and one hostile foreign power have made him president, he definitely never will. You know who did release her medical records, though? Hillary Clinton. Hypocrisy being one of Trump’s most recognizable traits, the GOP presidential candidate launched a sustained health scare about Clinton, claiming she lacked the “mental and physical stamina to take on ISIS,” and saying she “sleeps a lot.” When Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia after fainting at a 9/11 memorial event, Trump told a crowd of supporters, “She’s supposed to fight all of these different things, and she can’t make it 15 feet to her car, give me a break.” He further capitalized on the moment by releasing an ad that accused Clinton of falling short on “fortitude, strength [and] stamina.” In short order, Trump followers were matter-of-factly telling telling TV personalities that Clinton had AIDS and passing around conspiracy-theory memes that confused a lapel mic with a “cough-prevention machine.”

Ted Cruz’s father was involved in a plot to kill President Kennedy.
Report Advertisement
For two days and across four press outlets—a mere fraction of the $3 billion in free ad space the media gave him—Trump insinuated that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael, had a hand in the murder of John F. Kennedy. He didn’t state this outright, but instead used a favorite trick of the right, which is to pose an outrageous question and then pretend it wasn’t fully loaded with innuendo and suggestion. “What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting? It’s horrible,” Trump said on an episode of Fox & Friends. The next day, he got extra weaselly by announcing, “I’m just referring to an article that appeared, it has nothing to do with me.”
That article, by the way, was published by the National Enquirer, whose publisher and CEO is Trump’s good friend David Pecker. Trump has even written for the tabloid. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that the Enquirer paid one of Trump’s sexual harassment accusers for her story in order to bury it, and actress Salma Hayek says the rag let Trump plant a fake story about her after she turned him down for a date. Yes, it’s true that the Enquirer has broken political scandals, such as Rush Limbaugh’s drug addiction. It is also true that it has published many, many stories that have ended with retractions, court-ordered payments to celebrities, public apologies, and out-of-court settlements. Since the election, the Enquirer has become a propaganda arm of Trump’s transition team, an honor it shares with Breitbart.
In the end, Trump admitted on CNN that even he didn’t believe the conspiracy theory he’d helped to propagate. Ted Cruz responded by memorizing and reciting a joke written for him by an human staffer, telling reporters, “Yes, my dad killed JFK, he is secretly Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa is buried in his backyard.” Which led millions of wide-eyed Trump supporters to whisper to themselves, “Oh my god, he finally admitted it.”

Todd, in five more days the reawakening of journalists to their historic role of reporting Administration misdeeds, big and small, will be complete. That won’t be fun for you, either.
BT, the most Nixonesque of Obama’s scandals was the IRS’ scandal starring Lois Lerner. Actually using the IRS as a cudgel was once political suicide and will be again, if a Republican dares to use it in the future.

Trump should not complain about those who question the legitimacy of his Presidency. that’s what he did for years as the leader of the so called birther movement. He spent years questioning Obama’s birthplace. Here’s an example of a tweet from Trump

Here’s a couple of gems of fake news for ya
6. ‘Thousands and thousands of [Muslims] were cheering’ on 9/11.
The first time Trump spread fake news about American Muslims in New Jersey rejoicing at the death and destruction of 9/11 was at a 2015 rally in Birmingham, Alabama, where he told supporters, “I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, N.J., where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down.”
After cops said it wasn’t true, he told George Stephanopoulos he saw the “Arab population” jubilantly celebrating the towers falling “on television.” Shortly thereafter, Trump tweeted a video clip that actually discredited his story, proving himself wrong.
7. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was murdered.
Another example of Trump pretending that he’s just “putting the question out there.” After the death of Justice Scalia in February 2016, Trump went on the radio show of nutty conspiracy theorist par excellence Michael Savage (who has accused Obama of #WhiteGenocide and said Trump was a victim of vicious racism. Trustworthy, in other words). When Savage asked Trump about a conspiracy theory suggesting the 79-year-old justice was murdered, Trump played his designated role. “I’m hearing it’s a big topic. But they say they found a pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow,” Trump said, repeating a bit of fake news to help it grow wings and fly all over the right-wing blogosphere.

Yep, I figured I have mentioned the IRS politicalization so many times that I would spare the reader. Usually it goes like this: Roll tape 1 of Obama’s emphatically and unequivocally stating there is not “one smidgen of corruption” at the IRS. That’s the facts, Jack. Then roll tape 2 of the first thing coming out of Lois Lerner’s mouth is “On the advice of my lawyers I take the 5th.”
That one really sticks with me…to this very day. Now I know why, thanks to Gregory. For those of us who remember Tricky Dick and his enemies list, siccing the IRS attack dogs on political opponents was unheard of. That crossed a line beyond all norms. When Obama’s IRS did it, I thought that would be political suicide….impeachment stuff. But, nooooo. Nothing to see here. Blamed in on some rouge agents in Cleveland, lol. No h
The IRS thang was brought home to me a few years ago. Without details, I was taken into a man’s closet in a big home to look at something that needed problem solving. Strictly business, never met the man before. In the master closet I noticed Tea Party hats hanging there and a nice new expensive looking Tea Party jacket. I casually mentioned the items look brand new, without discussing the Tea Party or politics. The man said he never wears them because he does not want to be audited. Not that he had anything to fear from an audit, just that he does not need the headache. I thought he was joking or exaggerating. He was deadly serious. He had many Tea Party acquaintances that got the pleasure of being audited….first time in their long lives. I left it at that and dropped the topic.
Yep, it was real. Not just something you read about in the paper.

Paul, regarding the Birther thang, had Obama produced even the computerized certificate as quickly as McCain produced his hospital original when his “natural born citizen” status was questioned, there would have been no kerfuffle but then, the press was hounding McCain in exactly the way they weren’t hounding Obama. Constant badgering.
“I don’t need no stinking badgers!”- UHF (Weird Al Yankovic), in a parody of Treasure of the Sierra Madre
It took years to play out because Obama knew the game, the birthers didn’t.

In Washington, DC, which is overwhelmingly Democrat, many homeowners who rent their homes through travel site Airbnb are refusing to rent to Trump supporters coming to town for the inauguration, claiming that to do so would violate their conscience. As one homeowner stated, “I have a visceral reaction to the thought of having a Trump supporter in my house. … No amount of money could make me change my mind. It’s about moral principles.” One wonders if this woman would risk a fine or jail to hold to her principles, since DC’s anti-discrimination law makes it unlawful “to interrupt or terminate, or refuse or fail to initiate or conduct any transaction in real property … based on … political affiliation.”

Regarding the birther thang…
When I applied for Social Security survivor’s benefits, my 12 year old son and I traipsed over to the SS orifice in Auburn for our appointment to present bona fides. My birth cert, my son’s cert and my late wife’s. One by one the official picked them up, looked carefully at both sides and then smiled. All were as one would expect for documents from the 1950’s and 1989. Originals, with multiple signatures including the doctors doing the deliveries.
She told us had we delivered paper that didn’t look right, or one of the new computer printouts, we’d have to wait for a SS officer (Social Security, not SchutzStaffeln) to actually go to where the original records were to verify the information. With what we handed her, that would not be necessary.
In other words, the Obama birth cert is good enough to convince the press he was eligible to be President but not good enough to convince a Federal bureaucrat to start sending checks.

Well, guilty as charged. That was the first thing I thought. Pillow on face, alone in a room. Ok, that is a bit strange….the pillow on the face thing. Then the non-autopsy. We find people (such as illegals) in the desert and each and every gets an autopsy. Each and every one. In that Texas town/county, they perform autopsies on the decreased. In this case, dead body, coroner comes, hauls away the body, releases the cadaver with no autopsy. Odd. Sure, it could be the Supreme Court Justice died peacefully in his sleep in an election year. Happens all the time, right?
It was a short lived story on the blogosphere. Here one day, gone in 2-3 days per my recall. Legs? Your argument is weak on #7. Does not stand alone, but fits nicely into the picture you are drawing.

Birther, talk about grabbing the sweet spot….let’s see, I forget what is next on the Top 40 Oldies but Goodie playlist. Oh yeah, Trump lurching over My Gal at the debate, right. Or do we jump straight to Bromance and skip a bunch of filler. Know all those Golden Oldies by heart.

I wonder if a civilian, questioning the dubious aspects of Obama’s birth that had, and still has quite a following based on un-countered evidence (e.g. the clearly doctored longform birth certificate), is equivalent to a MoC using his position to question the legitimacy of an extremely monitored lawful election. Especially since the relationship between Russian hacking and Hillary’s loss has been neither identified nor its causal effects described.
BTW, this conversation should be continued under –

Trump is going to be the best US president since Ronald Reagan and for at least one of the same reasons: he was never the GOP establishment’s preferred candidate, which means he has the attitude, the independence and the leeway to be much more radical — and effective — than any of his rivals would have dared to be.

Trump is fighting back, swinging hard. Leading the way, just like on the campaign trail. Bust their teeth in , Mr. President-elect street fighting man. Take no lip or no sass. When we grow weary, hit back harder. Sweet.

About that press conference last Wednesday……….ROFLMAO
Trump was also asked by a reporter at Breitbart News what his views were on media ethics and “fake news”, to which he replied: “Some of the media outlets that I deal with are fake news more so than anybody. I could name them, but I won’t bother. You have a few sitting right in front of us.
“They’re very, very dishonest people, but I think it’s just something we’re going to have to live with. I guess the advantage I have is that I can speak back.”
According to the Associated Press, Breitbart News, branded by critics as a racist, far-right news site, was the only media organisation to have a reserved seat in the front row for the conference. Steve Bannon, Trump’s incoming chief strategist and senior counselor, previously served as the site’s executive chairman.

Trump should be qualified to evaluate Fake News because as can see by the examples I’ve been sending he’s the master of it.
13. Marco Rubio is ineligible to be president.
On several occasions during the Republican primaries, Trump questioned whether Ted Cruz, by dint of his Canadian birth, was ineligible for the presidency and threatened to sue him over the issue. Cruz’s mother is an American citizen, making him a natural-born citizen, and in 2016 he renounced his Canadian citizenship. Maybe all that information is hard for Trump to juggle at once—seems plausible—but less clear is why on more than one occasion he promoted the fake news that Marco Rubio’s eligibility was in question. Rubio was born in Miami, Florida, in the United States, which makes him a citizen from birth, without question. The only reason to suggest otherwise is if you believe only people with anglo names can be U.S. citizens. Trump may have assumed this was the rule in the Constitution’s Article XII, which he reportedly promised to protect as president. (There is no Article XII.)
