Sandbox – 1jan17

[Again a Happy New Year to all RR readers and its diligent band of commenters of all political shades who do their dharma battles on these pages.  This year promises to be even more exciting than 2016 – who knew that Trump would win? – if one can conceive that possibility.  Last New Year’s day I opened a new sandbox with these words.

Happy New Year! to all RR readers.  This year will turn out more exciting and surprising than any of us can anticipate.  From the socialists' perspective, they are at the cusp of a victory from which they can deal a deathblow to American capitalism and institute their new economic order as part of the country's fundamental transformation that Obama promised and has already launched.  We conservatarians also see this as a cusp year, but given the disarray of the Republicans, it will be one from which a 2016 Democrat defeat will deliver little besides delaying the day of reckoning between collectivism and open markets capitalism.  So I thought it would be appropriate to start the year with a fresh sandbox.  gjr]

    Perhaps you are getting frustrated cause nobody reads your links and kick back and watch you on the spin dry cycle. Er, speaking only for me lonesome. But, I finally see what you are saying. I think you are calling Trump the Soup Nazi on Steinfield!!! Do I will a prize or get a free CD or something? What do I win? Oh tell me, oh please tell me again……………and again.

    Paul Emery is boring. As a liberal he thinks we forgot everything we learned and life starts today. But his incessant paranoia about Bush, now Trump is really getting old. I like looking forward Paul is stuck in the past. BillT may be a bit crude but he makes me laugh. Paul makes me want to sleep.

    Crude? Moi? Hey, I started this day defending Boardman and ended it agreeing with Paul about Trump being the Steinfield Soup Nazi. I also said fudge and ah sugar. I think I am making real progress here.

    AND,, his use of question marks has been at a minimum.(Newyears resolution?)
    As long as he keeps mixing that Irish stuff he drinks (or claimed too) with the rec. weed,, kick back, wind him up and enjoy the show. You never know where he will take you next.

    Here is an easy on Paul,and just for the sake of discussion lets say the ruskys did it.(to make you happy) Since “O” and Co. knew hacks were taking place(admittedly) for a long time, and did jack shit about it. The hacks only became an issue when Hillary lost. WHY?????

    Take the time and look at the exit approval polls for Bush, Clinton and Bush (20 years) and you’ll see that what I say is accurate. Till then you have nothing really to add to the conversation.
    Oddsmakers gave Trump a 25% chance to win and guess where the roulette ball fell-in Trump territory. So be it. The Republicans will have a Trump stain as part of their legacy.

    RE: Keeping your eyes on the prize:
    Noticed Trump called out the GOP for trying to bring the semi-independent Office of Congressional Ethics under House control. Trump in charge and he isn’t even President.
    To be fair, I have not researched the GOP’s complaints about the panel or read if there are legitimate concerns of bias or malfeasance going on. Witch hunt or watchdog? Either way, Trump said jump and the House GOP said “how high?”
    He [Trump] wrote: “With all that Congress has to work on, do they really have to make the weakening of the Independent Ethics Watchdog, as unfair as it … may be, their number one act and priority. Focus on tax reform, healthcare and so many other things of far greater importance!”
    That is exactly how a businessman would look at petty distractions. Good sign of things to come. Stay focused on priorities and don’t waste time making mountains out of mole hills.
