Went over the comments on the thread that was clandestinely invaded by “chili cheese fries”. Wow! He truly is odd and we can see why he was fired from the Union. He is so disliked I hear, his firing was caused by his atrocious treatment of a woman in Nevada City. Anyone have those facts? And he calls us misogamists. I treat women with grace and kindness, he with nasty words and finger pointing. No wonder everyone I talk to that knows him, (three or four people) hate his guts. And bot does he have a lot of guts! Wow!

CONGRESSWOMAN: ‘Rational People’ Talking About States Separating From USA…

Blue State Citizens are voting with their feet, including California.
By Stephen Moore – Writing in the Washington Times:
[…]
Iβm talking about an economic depression in the blue states that went for Hillary. Here is an amazing statistic. Of the 10 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins β California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut β every single one of them lost domestic migration (excluding immigration) over the last 10 years (2004-14). Nearly 2.75 million more Americans left California and New York than entered these states.
They are the loser states. They are all progressive. High taxes rates. High welfare benefits. Heavy regulation. Environmental extremism. Super minimum wages. Most outlaw energy drilling. The whole left-wing playbook is on display in the Hillary states. And people are leaving in droves. Day after day, they are being bled to death. So much for liberalism creating a workerβs paradise.
Now letβs look at the 10 states that had the largest percentage vote for Donald Trump. Everyone of them β Wyoming, West Virginia, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Dakota, and Idaho β was a net population gainer.
This is part and parcel of one of the greatest internal migration waves in American history as blue states especially in the northeast are getting clobbered by their low tax, smaller government rivals in the south, southeast and mountain regions.
By the way, pretty much the same pattern holds true for jobs. The job gains in the red states carried by the widest margins by Mr. Trump had about twice the job creation rate as the bluest states carried by Hillary.
Full article is HERE.
This migration strengthens the Great Divide argument. The capable people are leaving for Red State jobs leaving behind the less capable and those needing government assistance to survive. Nevada County just turned light blue. The question is as it changes shades, has the demand for government benefits increased in the County. Anyone have the welfare numbers handy?LikeLike

fish 413pm & Russ 438pm – Where oh where are all the loony lefties who have given me crap for most of the past decade when I prognosticated that there is a Great Divide in the offing? They are now hiding behind their cricket chorus with their heads up where the sun doesn’t shine. But the more important point for the careful reader of these pages is that NOTHING that the progressives have foretold about the impact of public policies or the tenor of public opinions (including the past election) has come to pass. And you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to notice that they will continue with their hubristic outpourings as if the past didn’t happen. In their worldview all non-corroborating history just doesn’t exist.

Where are they? Desperately trying to deal with the cognitive dissonance resulting from the post election call for separation from the rest of the United States.
STATE OF JEFFERSON: BAD, LOONY, RIGHT WINGY, REACTIONARY…..
CASCADIA: FORWARD THINKING, PROGRESSIVE, OPEN, COMPASSIONATE….
Remember if they do it then by definition it must be the right course of action…..this in spite of copious evidence that the left is predictably wrong so frequently.
(Wonder what chapter this call for divorce will occupy in your neighbors oft promised book?)
Personally I don’t think either side needs to do anything….. within the decade the US will fracture of its own accord.LikeLike

What a surprise, now that they snagged the gold ring of measure B to the tune of $47,000,000.00 from the property owners, the NJUHSD Board is going to vote tomorrow at 6pm to raise the developer fee that was just raised 2 years ago. The new fee will be $3.48 a square foot before one nail is pounded, then they get to pay the 2 school bonds per square foot once they have a house.
The insatiable greed of the school administrators is so crass. More and more money to support their excess capacity.
Can we just be honest about this grubby cash grab and call it what it is, the school administrators full employment con job.
The vote is 6PM at the crumbling NU Science Lecture Hall. I wonder if there may be some contractors and tradesmen who have a comment or two? Maybe even a home owner?LikeLike

The world began today.
Common Core was never about money in politics. It is all about squelching books, movies, documentaries, articles, and broadcasts months before elections, as deemed too political by appointed bureaucrats.

Trumpβs EPA pick is causing green heads to explode
From E&E Legal:
βWe are delighted with President-elect Trumpβs selection of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to head the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Mr. Pruitt has led the charge in recent years to confront head on the enormous federal regulatory overreach proposed by the EPA as epitomized by the Clean Power Plan and Waters of the U.S. rule. As a litigator, he also understands how environmental fringe groups like the Sierra Club and the NRDC β who are bankrolled by renewable energy tycoons like Tom Steyer and George Soros β use the state and federal court systems to essentially create new laws through such schemes as βsue & settle.β

Oops Unfunded Liabilities problems in Dallas
The Dallas Police and Fire Pension System’s Board of Trustees suspended lump-sum withdrawals from the pension fund Thursday, staving off a possible restraining order and stopping $154 million in withdrawal requests.
The system was set to pay out the weekly requests Friday. Pension officials said allowing the withdrawals would leave them without the liquid reserves required to sustain the $2.1 billion fund.

Just watched some Rachel Maddow. What a scumbag. They already had a heads up about the new Labor Secretary nomination and they sent their snoopers to Missouri and dug up sme dirt. Seems his divorce in 1986 was contentious. His wife and he scuffled and she fell down. Cops came. Nothing came of it and the paper reported of course. That is the article. Now the nominee’s spokesperson supplied a email today from the ex wife who says she made it up. But Maddow says , great, let’s go destroy the guy. Won’t happen.

The Great Divide Won an Election for Trump
Kathy Cramer is a political science professor who has been crisscrossing Wisconsin for a decade trying to get inside the minds of rural voters.
Cramer: To be honest, it took me many months β I went to these 27 communities several times β before I realized that there was a pattern in all these places. What I was hearing was this general sense of being on the short end of the stick. Rural people felt like they not getting their fair share.
That feeling is primarily composed of three things. First, people felt that they were not getting their fair share of decision-making power. For example, people would say: All the decisions are made in Madison and Milwaukee and nobodyβs listening to us. Nobodyβs paying attention, nobodyβs coming out here and asking us what we think. Decisions are made in the cities, and we have to abide by them.
Second, people would complain that they werenβt getting their fair share of stuff, that they werenβt getting their fair share of public resources. That often came up in perceptions of taxation. People had this sense that all the money is sucked in by Madison, but never spent on places like theirs.
And third, people felt that they werenβt getting respect. They would say: The real kicker is that people in the city donβt understand us. They donβt understand what rural life is like, whatβs important to us and what challenges that weβre facing. They think weβre a bunch of redneck racists.
So itβs all three of these things β the power, the money, the respect. People are feeling like theyβre not getting their fair share of any of that.
Full Story HERE: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/11/08/a-new-theory-for-why-trump-voters-are-so-angry-that-actually-makes-sense/
This is the same argument that the State of Jefferson proponents are espousing. It is the lack of respect for these rural citizens by Sacramento’s legislative swamp that fires the passion of those promoting the State of Jefferson. It will extremely hard for the Democrate to change their attitudes and come to an accord with these rural citizens. We are living in interesting times as the great divide grows deeper between the urban elites and the rural folks that feed them.LikeLike

There’s one big problem with Russ’ comparison of rural Wisconsin with the far reaches of Northern California:
The counties that would make up the State of Jefferson suck up far more money in benefits and entitlements than they pay in taxes to Sacramento and Washington. Basically, they’re welfare deadbeats.
I’m willing to let them have their own little state if they will cede the Shasta watershed to the rest of California. I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen.LikeLike
-
GeorgeB 1045am – Of course North CA’s ceding the entire Shasta watershed to South CA will not happened because it is the main water source for the agricultural Sacramento River Valley. However, the water can be shared as is the water of the Colorado River. Nevertheless, the North CA would be willing to go on par with South CA on the return of federal monies. Right now most of the fed money going in to northern CA funds fed programs that are inimical to the region’s economy. Entitlements are a different matter by definition since they represent return on dedicated monies paid in.
But the big disconnect that you Mr Boardman and others of your mindset have is a stasist view of North CA, and nothing could be further from the truth. The reason for splitting off the northern part is to liberate it from the stifling grasp of leviathan in order to release the productive and creative juices of liberty and entrepreneurship. I’ll bet the farm that North CA under new governance will suck in businesses from other parts of the country at a rate to make Sacramento scream for mercy. The stasist arguments from the Left will simply not apply.LikeLike
-
GeorgeB, looking at the states making up Jefferson. Sure, they all used to be small vibrant counties mostly thriving off of the sale of natural resource extraction. Then the libs came in and stopped all that. I recall when the spotted owl gutted the thousands of timber jobs the feds said they would retrain them all and until then we will give you a handout . Then the bureaucrats moved in and now are the largest employers in those counties. So it is the libs and the government and the eco freaks that have destroyed these counties. Now do you understand why what you said is bullshit?

Mr. Boardman. I recently was invited to a party a my niece’s house to celebrate her husband’s miraculous recovery from cancer. San Jose area. Full of young techies and a few younger than moi CTOs (chief technical officers) and CDO’s (devolpment dudes and dudettes), some dodo birds, etc. I sat down with a nice young couple, all libs to the max. All attendees including moi agreed to make it a celebration of life, aka….no talking Trump or politics. So, what does this have to do with you????
Glad you asked. Get this. The young couple are paying 6 grand a month for an apartment….a one bedroom apartment in that valley full of silicon. So, whatever you do, just keep on doing what you are doing. A loft in the Sanctuary City by the air borne disease Bay air is one smart move. A gold mind. Don’t listen to the naysayers about stocks or investing. You can just sit there and smile and count those gold coins and stack them into nice little mini Trump Towers. You da man!! Hey, next time jack it up higher…..but not too high to drive them up here, ok?
Good job for an ass hat. Never hurts to take some off the table and put a few chips the pocket. One never knows when you might need cab fare….when you come out of a blackout. You can’t take it with ya.
Keep doing what you are doing…..financially I mean. The other stuff we need to work on. :).LikeLike

Posted by: George Rebane | 10 December 2016 at 11:27 AM
I would be more convinced if all of his metrics didn’t seem to point back to government at some point.
“All the “battleground” states that Trump won, plus countless other “red” states like Pence’s Indiana and nearly the entire South, have had government-bashing, tax-cutting GOP governors and legislatures throughout Obama’s term in office. They are almost all net “takers” of government money, while most blue states pay in more than they get. Yet, somehow, the citizens of these red states blame the Democrats for their fate — which is indeed poor. They trail blue states in almost every quality of life measure. For example, life expectancy in Massachusetts is 80.5, while in Mississippi it’s 75.0.”
There’s other things going on in Mississippi that aren’t going on in Massachusetts….
Therefore, as we try to reform the Democratic strategy, it’s necessary, as Herbert Marcuse once said, to promote a values transformation, away from the cruel, competitive performances and unrestrained expectations of consumer capitalism and toward a simpler, less hurried, more cooperative way of life, where work sharing is at least as important a strategy to reduce unemployment as federal jobs programs.
….and of course no “shift” in values would be complete without reference to Mr. Repressive Tolerance himself. I’m guessing that the author has many things he wants to “teach” the unenlightened….only for our benefit of course.
So, perhaps it’s time to think a little bigger, a little bolder. To challenge American exceptionalism and the focus on growth. One way to challenge exceptionalism would be to focus on children. As reports by UNICEF and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) make clear, American kids rank near the very bottom in almost all aspects of quality of life among rich countries, leading only Turkey, Mexico, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.
“The Children”….that amorphous and abstract cohort for whom the implementation of no possible repressive measure would be considered too extreme if it led to their (and more importantly those who advocate for them) “benefit”!
I wonder if these guys ever get tired of repeating the same old catechism?LikeLike

Celebration of Life Party Story continued. Ok, one guy there was a traveling computer geologist so something and a bit older than most of the libs, about 30 I reckon. Anyway, he said he was traveling/working from Florida to Oklahoma or someplace and was in a motel room when one night a Trump Rally came to town.
Well, that got my ears perking up like the old EF Hutton commercials and I leaned closer to his table, being unjudgemental of course. Then about 10 people stopped what they were drinking and gabbing about about and he had our undivided attention. A quick scan of faces revealed curiosity, surprise, and the soft glow of alcohol, but no frowny faces. He told of the Rally being across the parking lot and a big field and being bored on the road, and nothing to do that night and blah, blah, blah.
So, Getting impatient, I jumped after a bit and asked “How was it?” He got this weird look, then tilted his head back with a spark in his eyes and said, “Electrifying.” Nuff said.LikeLike
