[The election has understandably sucked the oxygen out of all other topics.  On the off chance that some readers may still be looking outside our borders to a see a fully functioning world, here’s some fresh sand in which to note your observations.  H/T to reader for the graphic below. gjr]

Here is the face of the new and improved Democrat Party. Heck, they should have cut to the caste and just put the Rev. Jeremiah Wright in charge. The Democrat Party figured out where they went wrong. They weren’t liberal enough. They did not attack hard enough. Minister Farrakhan’s good buddy.

Everyone who comments here is what I consider everyday Americans. Paul, Fish, Brad C, even the Fue and moi. Everybody. Do any of you everyday Americans see anything wrong with the direction of the Left? Put Trump aside for the moment. You will have years to bash him. Just look at the road the Left is taking its flock. Is it me, or does this appear too far out on the fringes for everyday Americans?
Guess it’s best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Thank you progressives.

    Bumped to the new sandpile:
The EPA got climate change wrong and now they have to answer for the flawed ozone measurments systems that they knew inflated their ozone measurments:

I am feeling better about a Trump Presidency already:
Trump Picks Top Climate Skeptic to Lead EPA Transition
Choosing Myron Ebell means Trump plans to drastically reshape climate policies
Myron Ebell, director of the Center for Energy and Environment at the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute, is spearheading Trump’s transition plans for EPA, according to sources.

The best part of this appointment is left is going nuts over this on Twitter and Facebook, now that Trump has been elected. It was ignored last September when the lefties give Trump a zero chance of winning the election.

The Diplomad 2.0 has some thoughts on our future foreign policy under Trump:
The US, Canada, UK, and Australia can achieve energy independence. We have to put in the casket all those idiotic “global climate warming cooling changing” so-called “theories” and recognize them for the dangerous and expensive hoaxes that they are. The polar bears are doing fine, thank you, better than our coal miners, in fact.
    ooo
We have the right, as do all nations, to decide who can and cannot come live in the country. There is no Constitutional or internationally recognized right to immigrate to the United States, or Britain, or Canada, or Australia, or anywhere else. I hope, in fact, that all those progressives “threatening” to move to Canada and Australia discover that Canada and Australia might not want them . . . and have no obligation to take them, even if it would make America a better place . . .
    ooo
As Bastiat reminds us, there are always “unintended consequences.” Whenever we undertake an action, we set in motion forces that we do not initially see or understand, and that could have serious consequences in the future. Rumsfeld said it best, “the unknown unknowns.” While we need to try to foresee those consequences as best we can in our limited human way, we cannot let the fact that we will not usually succeed paralyze us. At times we have to deal with the immediate threat and worry about the future later. Defeating Nazi Germany and Shintoist Japan, for example, took precedence over worrying about creating power vacuums in Europe and Asia. Jihadis are a bigger threat than climate “change.” One real enemy at a time.

Walt, one of the finest Futurama episodes might feel autobiographical… “Parasites Lost” saw Fry infested with superintelligent worms after eating an infected egg salad sandwich from a gas station.

The democrats have a big mountain to climb in two years… a third of the Senate gets elected every two years and in 2018, 25 of those seats have dem incumbents.
Do the dems regroup by a consolidated move to the middle or do the Berners take over? Or does the left leave the party?
Golly… wasn’t that the basic script for the apres election grand old party?

    The blame game begins:
Hillary Clinton blamed FBI director James Comey for her stunning defeat in Tuesday’s presidential election in a conference call with her top campaign funders on Saturday, according to two participants on the call.
    ooo
On the phone call with supporters on Saturday, Clinton said her campaign and the national party had raised $900 million from more than 3 million individual donors, according to the two participants who spoke to Reuters.
    http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/clinton-blames-fbis-comey-for-her-defeat-in-call-with-donors/ar-AAkdFc9?OCID=ansmsnnews11
I guess it was Comey’s fault that 6.3 million of Democratic voters stayed home and did not vote. Never considering that she just did not appeal to those voters, reguardless of how much money she spent. For the left it is always someone else’s fault.

Here is a thought to pounder:
The GOP now controls 32 state legislatures. It only takes 38 to ratify a constitutional convention. Only six more to go and we can adjust the Constitution to be more conservative friendly, starting with strengthing the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

There’s only one amendment that I’d like to see added to the Constitution, and that is what I’d call the ‘Goose Gander’ Amendment that requires the governments (state/federal electeds and employees) to submit to the same laws and regs that they impose on the rest of us – no special privileges. And with enough GOP legislatures that may be possible without worrying about the vicissitudes of a Convention of States.

Truckees Talking Points Memo weighs in at Boardman’s……..

Plus he is a racist, misogynistic, bigot who embraced coded white supremacy as a tactic, which more than 50% of the nation will NEVER forget or forgive. I can get beyond a policy disagreement, even embrace pieces of policy from the “opposition” I agree will help the country, or even that a majority of the country supports and I don’t because they chose that path, but I will NEVER embrace a man whose personal values are so disgusting that I would worry about my wife or daughter standing next to him.

I don’t know why you didn’t just lead with this Steve…..its really the only statement that you care about. Wish I possessed the dark art of “Coded Language” deciphering that come from living on Mt Olympus like you my friend!
First three paragraphs…..disaster for working people……tax policy benefiting the wealthy….stimulus should have been larger. So just more of the same crony Keynesianism that the country had under Sugar Frosted Barry O’s then.
    Bigger stimulus…..more opportunity for graft!
    (Cross posted at Rebanes)

Props though, he’s on the record saying that he has no plans to burn anything down like so many other of the lefts idiot children. I think in his Mean Streets of Chicago heart of hearts he’d love to man the ramparts and show the dark reactionary forces what people power really looks like (I wonder if his knees are up to the task these days)!

Administrivia – In the continued hope of keeping topical comment threads under similarly topical posts (e.g. fish 828am should be under ‘After the Rumble …’) I would remind readers that the sandboxes are repositories for comments on topics that RR hasn’t covered (or covered recently) that are nevertheless of interest to readers.
While I always welcome readers’ comments re their areas of broader interest, I first and foremost want to see what your reaction is to the RR commentaries by me and my byline guests. As introduced here, and since they are topically moot, RR’s sandboxes should be viewed as ‘overflow repositories’ not substitutes for posted topics’ comment streams.
First and foremost my intent here is for RR to continue as an expanding searchable record of timely topics and issues of interest to me and various similarly interested cohorts of readers who then would assemble and debate their corresponding contributions cogently on this blog. This process gives rise to collections of compact and coherent comment streams of subsequent interest that are accessible to current and future readers.

Sandbox time: I would be amiss not to mention the passing of my favorite Okie, Mr. Leon Russell.
There are some things that stick in your mind forever. Like, where where you when JFK was shot, where were you when man took the first step on the moon, and where were you when St Helens blew?
I will never forget walking into a small dirty movie house off some seedy street to hear some band play. Can’t remember if it was the Elvin Bishop Blues Band or Charlie Musslewhite or somebody else. I remember the warm up acts where JJ Cale and somebody called Leon Russell and Friends. I do remember the place was half full. And I will never forget, never ever, that lady on stage with Leon Russel dancing with a rolling pin over her head during the set going out into the audience, coming over to me, turning around, and shaking that big ole booty right in my face as Leon was pounding the keys. Ah, the good old days.
Where were you when that bountiful booty was placed one inch from my nose and shaking to the music?

California’s Pension Woes Set To Deepen In 2017.
In 2015, California tried to reform CalPERS to address its shortfalls, but they didn’t do nearly enough. The system currently assumes annual returns of 7.5 percent, which is still far too optimistic. So CalPERS plans to revise its expectations downward, which would force governments to kick in more money to meet liabilities. Local government budgets, of course, are already stretched. It isn’t long before they’ll have to ask the state and, potentially, the federal government for a bailout. And with Republicans in control in Washington, it’s hard to imagine California getting any sympathy.
    And, then there is this:
“California’s Democrats Are Ready for Political War against Trump.”
I do not think that Trump will be interested in a CA bailout if he is at war with California.

CalPERS will do fine as long as public employers pony up the cash to backfill the gap between reality and past fiscal fantasy.
Loyalton in Sierra County has done the unthinkable… they’ve defaulted on their CalPERS debt… no problem… pensions of their four retirees gets slashed.
At some point the CalPERS/STRS merry-go-round will stop. No, strapped cities, counties, school districts etc are not going to be able to cover all the unfilled promises of the pension money managers.

No reason given, we will all have to just wonder if mabe the competition was just too overwhelming, or they were just tired of trying to turn a sows ear into a valuable leather purse.
