… according to a new report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML). The report noted that in 2014 unauthorized immigrants had a labor force participation rate of 70% compared to 62.9% for the overall population. (more here)
Get out an old envelope for a little arithmetic. The politically correct population of illegals in the country is somewhere north of 11M – the actual is somewhere between 15M and 30M depending on how you count. Never mind the actual number, say, it’s 15M, and assume all of them are workforce age. So according to BAML 0.3*15M = 4.5M are not even in the workforce. Now charitably assume that the remaining 70% or 10.5M in the workforce are unemployed at the nationally quoted level of about 5% which adds another 0.05*10.5M = 525,000 to the 4.5M already unemployed, giving a total of a bit more than 5M unemployed illegals in the country. So approximately 5M illegal aliens in the country are living off of some kind of government programs that should at least be paid for by the 10M working and taxpaying (sales and maybe payroll taxes) illegals to net out zero impact on state and federal budgets. In this we don't count the almost 2 of 5 people in jail who are illegals costing about $1.9B/yr to house. You have to be beyond dense to believe that the taxes paid by two low paid illegals are enough to support one unemployed illegal alien as you swallow National Lie #53. Now you can show the envelope to your friends.
The ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ is a bruising reply to America’s liberals always telling everyone how much better we would be were we to adopt the ‘Nordic model of socialism’. Well, it ain’t necessarily so as Michael Moynihan, who has drunk deeply of the northern countries’ socialism, reveals in an appropriately referenced piece that all is not well in the land of blue eyes and blondes.
Reviewing some of the politically correct talking heads this Sunday morning, the ever popular topic of ‘diversity’ came up. The love of unassimilated diversity has become a national pastime in recent decades, and also one of the national myths. Each pundit went through the verbal genuflections toward diversity, and then without a blink explained how the various communities spouting diversity want none of it. In their monologues it turned out that in each of these communities – Hispanic, black, Asian, … – people want to see people who look like them to answer the call for everything from delivery men, service providers, and most certainly first responders like police, EMT, and firefighters. These have always been the trusted ones and remain so today. Seeing the diversity in other races, ethnicities, ideologies, … respond in their own neighborhoods doesn’t work for them. When it comes down to it, diversity be damned – ‘I want someone who looks, thinks, and acts like me.’ Always was and still is, and none of our elitist thought leaders have a clue.
[11jul16 update] A correspondent sent me the following transcript from a talk Rev Franklin Graham gave to a group of pastors in Jacksonville, Florida. Billy Graham’s son Franklin is a veteran and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. His sentiments have been reflected in these pages for some years now and are especially apropos to those of us living in California. That they are shared by millions of Americans gives lie to the progressivists' claim that such perceptions are only the furtive rants of isolated ignoramuses who should be summarily dismissed if not more firmly silenced.
The American Dream ended (on November 6th, 2012 ) in Ohio . The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.
A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays , Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood , uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell ‘s America . The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch… The Pit Bull is in the back yard. The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky ‘s “Rules for Radicals” and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.
Our side ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states, and Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing “post Sandy ” tribute that elevated the “Commander-in-Chief” to Mother Teresa status. (Aside: with the way the polls were run, he didn’t need any help!) People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.
You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates & shy not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.
Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to “white guilt” and political correctness… An American Veteran……… Semper-Fi.
[13jul16 update] Nevada County Voices is a very useful if somewhat dated and cumbersome blog designed and maintained by Dr Anna Haynes. RR has featured a link to it from our gitgo (see right panel). I might add that RR’s policy of welcoming viewpoints from all quarters also includes providing its readers direct links to sites that regularly disparage, misunderstand, and/or misrepresent (i.e. lie about) RR, its readers, and me. Among these are exclusionary blogs such as that of our far left veteran journalist and purveyor of pabulum, Mr Jeff Pelline (to which RR readers are also provided a link).
But what finally caused me to ‘pen’ this entry is that NC Voices continues to recognize a political spectrum that has only one wing, the “Right Wing”. That is what the world looks like to those like Dr Haynes whose views would be considered definitely of the Left by the proverbial random sample of a thousand Americans. While the number of what today we would call ‘progressive’ or ‘leftwing’ blogs dominate the listings on NC Voices, they are not so labeled. It’s as if the Left does not exist in this country which is burdened politically only by those extremists and radicals on the Right.
Now that has always been the view of our neighbors on the Left. They are the reasonable norm and perennially describe themselves as occupying the country’s Golden Middle. And strange as it seems they see the remainder of the nation made up of the regrettable fringe on the Right. They themselves occupy the single-winged center (sometimes also ‘the middle of the road’), and their logic does not permit asking them ‘Then what political spectrum are you in the middle of?’
Their big fear is that if they admit to the existence of a Left, they may also have to reveal some of its distinguishing tenets, and that would be a major embarrassment. And that’s why, in this land of the under-informed, the Left is quite happy to cruise along on a wing and a prayer. Er, make that only a wing since they outlawed prayer long ago.
[14jul16 update] Truck attack in Nice, France. As of this writing almost 80 people are dead, uncounted more injured. What the success of this attack means scares me, and I believe will mark a sea change in how the raghead terror arsenals are constituted. The driver of that truck demonstrated that a single suicidal terrorist can easily appropriate a heavy vehicle within striking distance of gathered crowds, run it up to a very high speed, and mow down hundreds of people at will before being stopped and “neutralized” (love those French).
One such lone wolf armed with nothing more than, say, a knife can assault an unsuspecting truck driver, take his truck, and in minutes be creating havoc on pedestrian filled sidewalks. Such an attack requires little to no planning, no collecting and hiding bomb materials, assembling and properly fusing a bomb (no mean feat), and then sneaking the whole thing to a detonation point while avoiding all kinds of security. No, now we can have the raghead look like any typical truck driver going down the street until it’s time to accelerate and martyr himself in a mayhem of hurtling bodies.
I predict that ISIS will motivate many more of this kind of attack. As they lose territory in the Mideast and go into a scattered underground mode around the world, this will definitely be one of their weapons of choice, one against which it is almost impossible to protect ourselves. And as reported tonight on the news, the world is full of seething Muslim populations and enclaves eager to supply the needed recruits – no training needed.
