Back to the topic of the day-
No one deserved to be killed in Dallas. A horrible evening in Dallas, with a peaceful, legitimate protest being presided over by a protective police presence. Dallas appears to have very good relations between the community and the police force. But the fact is, events of the last week, and last 2 years have brought to long held, and long known light policing practices against innocent black citizens of America. It appears the latest murderous acts by officers against innocent black men set of that armed and trained lunatic in Dallas, a lunatic further primed by his military experience in Iraq, an immoral, insane war for so many, including the GOP nominee. War has impacts on people, and makes unstable people become criminals and yes, terrorists. Anyone who looks at Dallas in a vacuum is either ignorant or not interested in solving the problems of violence against innocents and LE personnel.LikeLike

re NC council mama’s screed – does that mean that she is in favor of more snipers in other cities taking down more of the police on duty with the demonstrators? Sounds like someone of the Left is ready to celebrate the start of a genuine blood-in-the-gutters revolution. Isn’t that what the Left has been diligently accusing the Right of as they do their ‘we know what you are really thinking’ commentaries? Oh well.

Oh, here he goes _ “It appears the latest murderous acts by officers against innocent black men set of that armed and trained lunatic in Dallas…”
Jonnie boy – you need to take a deep breath and check out the facts. White cops don’t go around ‘murdering’ innocent blacks.
But you live in the fact-free zone and continue the same type of talk that ‘sets off’ crazies. By your own logic, you’re to blame as well.
If you can calm down and stop blowing spittle all over the place, we might, just might, have a conversation about police brutality, poorly trained police and the like. We can look at facts about fatal interactions between the police and the American public re ALL citizens – not just a certain skin color. We can maybe agree that ALL lives matter in the world, but I’m not holding my breath.
BTW – how’s the Hope and Change thingie working out?LikeLike

Hey Dozed. I hear ya about the ALL events. Some you just add more weight to than others. We all do that, no biggie
It all seems so long ago when Bernie was drawing uge crowds and BLM (man, those were some downright ugly…and I mean ugly) BLM chicks grabbed his microphone in Seatlle and went nuts when Bernie foolishly said “Gay Lives Matter.” Big no-no. Then some racists knuckledraggers said the Unforgiveable Sin by spouting “All Lives Matter”
We all hoped with Obama’s 2008 historic election that finally we would have the national dialogue on black-white racial matters and the healing of the wounds would begin. Afterall, he was the unheard of dude that had to borrow money just to get to the Dem Convention to utter the words that propelled him into the national stage. Those words were “there is no blue states, no red states, just The United States”
I submit to you the oblivious: Race relations n the US have purposely grown worse since 2008. In stead of healing, we received a ripping open of wounds bigger than ever. Instead of “the dialogue” we got Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s words coming out of Obama’s mouth.
I will pose a question. Who has the most to gain from all the events of the last 72 hours? Who gains politically? TO BE CLEAR, I am specifically talking about black-white relations in the USA in 2016. The issues of illegal aliens flooding across our Southetn border of Islamics legally entering via our immigration polices, visas, etc can be addressed later. This is about black-white relations, the events of the last 72 hours.
Who gains politically from embracing victimization and the death of Justice?
I have pimps more than I hate race pumps. Who gains politically while the millions of Jeromes and Johnnies on the street loses?LikeLike

What we’re really dealing with with the left…..
“DeLay and Perry were indicted in Travis County, Texas, which is run by Democrats who like to make ritual sacrifices of the occasional Republican politician. They know that they can do this with no fear of sanction from, say, Barack Obama’s Justice Department. The Democratic party in Texas is a criminal enterprise (my friend Michael Walsh describes the Democrats at large as a crime syndicate masquerading as a political party, which isn’t inaccurate) that is sustained by corruption and old-fashioned ward politics that would have been familiar to a Chicago boss in the 1920s or a denizen of Tammany Hall. The Democrats happen to run Washington, too, which is why Hillary Rodham Clinton knows that she can violate the law, at will, for obvious personal political reasons, with very little fear of official sanction. And the fact is, the Democrats prefer their politicians a little crooked, a little dirty. It helps them, a Chavista party constrained mainly by the temperamental (rather than ideological) conservatism of the American electorate, to make up in viciousness what they lack in policy ideas appropriate to the 21st century.
That lack of policy ideas isn’t really very important. The Left isn’t interested in policy; it is interested in power, and the things you can do with it, meaning rewarding one’s friends and punishing one’s enemies. Barack Obama has been, in his less guarded moments, fairly plain about that. For the Left, all justice is Wonderland justice: decision first, arguments afterward as necessary. There is seldom if ever any doubt about how the so-called liberals on the Supreme Court (who are not liberals at all) will vote on any question: They will vote the way the Left wants them to. Elena Kagan, you may recall, testified in her confirmation hearings that there is no constitutional right to same-sex marriage lurking in the penumbras to be discovered. Once confirmed, she reached a little deeper and pulled one out. Conservatives can never really guess which way a Kennedy or a Roberts is going to come down on a question, but you know how the judges of the Left are going to vote. Arguments do not matter; only outcomes matter.”LikeLike

Dozed: Too many typos on last post, sorry. ‘I hate pimps more than I hate race pimps”. See, I am more inclined to be a “rubber meets the road kind of guy”. Put a face on it. Just like I did for you to help you see Ambassor Stevens’s last hour as he was thinking about his wife and kids and the things he cherished most and saying the prayer millions before him (as well as I) pray, “God, don’t let me die in this shithole.” Put a face on it before you do the political advantage dance on his grave..
Yo, Crabbie, I never told you this, but Doc used to call me from Colorado when he bought that condo and got married to a crazy female.. I would just listen on the phone as we would solve life’s problems. Yes, you know how to put a face on it as well, but I digress.
Dozed, at least you can’t sue for liable since you are a sock puppet, shit for brains. No use having Royal’s number on speed dial. You best buy a firearm cause the Sheriffs don’t know where to find Mr. Dozer, ROFLMAO. You done neutered yourself. Smooth move, Dozey.
I do miss the good old days. Someone/anyone would say one thing about Stevie and jon smith (the bad one…the one whose best part ran down…)….anyway, one little word against Stevie and pesto!…Stevie’s little boy toy would appear all revved up and ready to defend his idol. My pool boys locked up in the basement are just like that as well.
No, Stevie does not need a sock puppet. He is articulate, puts forth his agruments in a logical order with many cited sources and effort, and always, always answer any question directed his way. Even reasonable.
No, Dozed, Steve ain’t no puppet nor needs one. He stands upright just fine on his own two feet and out of the shadows. I do miss his boy toy coming out to tell us what we said about his Number One are fighting words. That monkey on the organ grinder’s backside I do miss. He was just as predictable as you, my little sheet stain, but sooo much better at what he did.

George wiped out a comment of mine that belonged in the other thread because the idiotic Jon Dozer had a retort along the lines of “the guy deserved to die, why care that the cops used a bomb to kill him?
Saved in a window not refreshed:
“jon smith” 9:29
Hand grenades are a military grade weapon that civilian police departments have not embraced in the past, and there is really no difference between something akin to a hand grenade delivered by a robot on the ground and a grenade delivered by a flying drone. Or a missile fired from a drone.
The shooter was going nowhere… the police could have waited him out rather than having a grenade delivered by remote control.
Now, George likes the term “par force” but I don’t. I prefer the term “civilian”; state and local police are CIVILIANS, and they should be limited to civilian weapons. Just imagine had Sec’y Condoleeza Rice lived her childhood where the local nightriding Sheriff Clarks, if they wanted to kill teach some black fathers a lesson, they could have sent in a robot with a bomb to cure them of their uppityness, and little Miss Rice might have been wiped out by the same blast that took out her dad.
There have always been rogue police and rogue military. If we want them to be well-regulated, the right of the people to own and keep weapons must not be infringed.
More and more, cops are brandishing military weaponry and operating under paramilitary rules. This will not end well.LikeLike

“sorry fish, no connection to anyone or anything in Mr. Pelline’s blog. But please continue your foolish foray into your fantasy world.”- Dozer/Pelline 10:26
Bullschat. One, no one in Nevada County says “Mr. Pelline” unless he owes them money. Two, after it gets mentioned here that Jeffie is talking to himself at the ol’ blogsiteand needs some friends, two of his socks dutifully snap to attention. Golly, Jeff, doesn’t Gloria Zane deserve some fresh air too?
Three, Jeff Pelline is the most narcissistic bastard I know in Nirvana County, and his own blog, which used to be a happening place despite his well known abusive rhetoric of anyone who doesn’t match his self described “moderate” views which don’t seem much different than Bernie Sanders’. Hard Left. Which brings us to his need to tar anyone who posts here as “hard right” while the hardest left he ever refers to on the DP side is “moderate”. He needs to be the center of attention, stirring crap here is the best he can manage at the moment.
Well, Reinette Senum just went off the hard left side of the deck with that Facebook post of hers (yes, I also dug up her FB to see for myself). I think that might be grounds for asking for her resignation from the Council, and a recall if she doesn’t but then, I live in Nevada City only by zipcode.LikeLike

“Jon Dozer had a retort along the lines of “the guy deserved to die, why care that the cops used a bomb to kill him?”
WTF are you talking about? No retort by this Jon. Gregory, are you taking strong cough medicine today?LikeLike
-
My. First and foremost. Yo Dr. Rebane, better get ready to start a new Sandbox. This will be will filled up and ready to dump in a few hours, not days. Just a heads up.
Gregory, the encroachment of military hardware into our civilian LE departments is indeed troublesome. However, let’s look back abit to see how we got where we got over, say, 50 years.
3 stories, two from LA.
. 1) Remember when the SLA kidnapped Patty Hearst and that saga? The LAPD surrounded a SLA hideout in LA and used plenty of force. Tear gas canisters propelled into the abode and the whole nine yards. Think it was the first time the battering ram made the headlines. The police chief came under heavy criticism after demolishing the house and leaving the SLA members firing back like Crispy Critters. They got toasted like burnt marshmallows.
The chief of police’s quipped back to the cacophonous outcry: they declared war and we treated it as war,
2) Remember those TV scenes of the bank robbers in the Wilshire District in LA strolling slowly down the street plugging cops effortlessly and calmly, even shooting the police hiding on the other side of their squad cars for protection? Done shot right thru those police cars. After that, every cop in the nation was clamoring for firepower to match the Bad Guy’s firepower.
3). My Dad. Once asked my pa later in life what was his proudest accomplishment in all his years on “the department”. He did not hesitate one second and answered “I never killed anybody.” He was old school where a cop would rather physically wrestle folks to the ground, make them say “Uncle” or lift them upside down by their ankles rather than ever pull out his 38 revolver. Yep, that little snub nose was his weapon of choice. Seems silly now. Sure, he fired off a few warning shots in his time and grabbed a shotgun if doing a stakeout on an armed and dangerous fugitive, but times have changed, Footnote: he barely made the qualifications to be a cop as a rookie because he was only 6′ 1″. They hired only the big boys for a big boy job back then. Weight lifting was mandatory.
Dad felt it that two things contributed to where we are now. First, the bad guys started getting more firepower. Back in the day the most feared (by cops) weapon a bad guy had was the lethal concealed sawed off shotgun.
He also felt by lowering the size qualifications of officers (and adding women officers on the streets) was responsible for more police officers shooting suspects. Sure, a sexist thing to say today. But he felt that a 5’7″ 160 pound officer confronting a 6’6″ angry suspect on Angel Dust..well, it’s logical that the smaller cop would be more apt to unholster the gun instead of physically subduing the crazy. Hey, whatever it takes to make it through the shift alive. Michael Brown in Fergerson comes to mind, without the Angel Dust part.
So, from that history, we can see the evolution of more and more firepower. In Dallas, that guy said he was ready to denotate bombs scattered about the civilian hubs in un known places. Take him at his word and do what it takes to terminate the threat to civilians and cops alike. Afterall, the suspect did declare war and of warfare is what he got.
Despite the way Dallas police or Texas Rangers took the suspect out, are you implying that it was worth the risk to the cops and innocent civilians that he wasn’t ready to set off bombs across Downtown?? Suppose it wasn’t a bluff? Suppose it was? Glad we will ever find out he meant what he said.LikeLike
-
I’m not sure why Gregory has his panties in a bunch over this. The cops neatly ended the situation with the tools at hand. The guy shot a dozen of their own and killed five. They felt he was a continued threat (he escalated the threat by claiming to have bombs) so they killed him with their own bomb and did so without causing any collateral damage. Cops dropped bombs from helicopters to evict some folks in Philly (1985). I think that was a bit excessive, but have no problem with them using flash bangs, tear gas grenades (yes they kill), det cord and shaped charges as needed to ensure public safety. I don’t think we need to “play fair” when dealing with assassins and terrorists. When they start playing with bombs we have every right to bomb them back.
You must admit the cops saved us a lot of time and money that would have otherwise been used in the legal system.LikeLike

js 234
Hand grenades and other antipersonnel munitions have no place in civilian police organizations. Neither do machine guns or drone strikes.
The shooter wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. I realize the cops had the explosive toy and had powerful emotional arrows pointing toward blowing the asshole up, but they shouldn’t have.
The killer was a veteran of the Middle East conflict… what if he was suffering from service induced PTSD? Does that change your bloodthirsty impulses?
We should be better than the racist asshole the shooter was yesterday.LikeLike
-
Agreed with both js and gregorgy. There will be a bunch of commissons, inquirys, investigations, and Monday morning quarterbacking in the weeks and months ahead to figure out how we can do it better. The one thing that keeps going thru my melon is the image of all those bullets bouncing off the suspect’s bullet proof armor as he was dancing between pillars. No time to wait for a blue ribbon commission. The tornado passed and the wind stopped blowing. The cops improvised to elminate the threat. He was a good shot, I will give him that. Not as good as Lee Harvey O, but then again Oswald was a marine, not an army boy.:)

Here’s the Live One of The Week- Virginia Trump Chair, Corey Stewart. When the Drumpf campaign disavows this comment, you know its beyond warped.
“Liberal politicians who label police as racists — specifically Hillary Clinton and Virginia Lt. Governor Ralph Northam — are to blame for essentially encouraging the murder of these police officers tonight.”
Right Corey, and those videos in Minnesota and LA were doctored as well..LikeLike
-
BillT 309pm – Mr Tozer, that comparison is one without a basis. The Army beats the Marines regularly and badly in both sniper and tactical (known distance and moving against moving targets) competitions. The Marines, however, have put great emphasis (and budgets) on PR and good looking uniforms which does give them an advantage in the public eye. Semper fi 😉

For the love of God he was SHOOTING PEOPLE!! “He wasn’t going anywhere” – In his own words he didn’t need to “go anywhere” to continue his killing spree because he claimed to have triggers to remotely detonate bombs.
I don’t care if he was Mother Theresa or had PTSD, HIV, or simply a bad hair day. The moment someone starts randomly killing people, whatever his excuse, he needs to be taken out of the equation as quickly and efficiently as possible. We can discuss his emotional “challenges” once he’s behind bars or in a body bag. This guy didn’t leave much room for choice.LikeLike

Calm down “jon smith”…At the time he was blown up, he was ensconced in a spot where he could not shoot anyone, nor could he be shot. Not an immediate threat.
What you are describing are the military rules of engagement. These were police officers and the perp was a civilian.LikeLike

Governor Brown Call Your Office: Carbon Markets Collapsing
LONDON, July 8 — Carbon markets, the free-enterprise solution to saving the world from global warming, are now in danger themselves.
The idea was simple enough: Set a cap on carbon emissions, issue enough permits to allow power plants, refineries and the like to stay within those limits and then shrink the cap over time to achieve reductions. The companies whose emissions fall fastest can sell their permits for a profit to slower responders — call it a reward for good behaviour.
The reality, though, is more complex. Undercut by a lack of political will on the size of caps and overtaken by costly new environmental mandates, carbon markets in the US, Europe and Asia are collapsing, with prices so low they’ve become virtually valueless. The credits auctioned in the US Northeast in June, for instance, sold for just US$4.53 (RM18.27) a short tonne, a 40 per cent drop from December. [emphasis added]

I think he got the message during the last CARB Carbon Credit Auction, it only took in $12 million when the expectation was $150 million putting a crimp in the highspeed rail slush fund.LikeLike

Would love Scott’s take on this quote from the famous GOP lion.LikeLike
