Brexit: Paris climate agreement will have to be Rewritten
This could delay EU ratification of the deal, which is already under pressure because India and Russia have said they were unlikely to sign this year.
Unless the Paris agreement is ratified this year by countries representing more than 55 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, it will be vulnerable to being scrapped completely by a future Donald Trump presidency in the US.

Undemocratic centralization……..! No wonder your local leftys were so butthurt when England tried to leave the “party”.

Dude, don’t make promises you can’t keep. While having a positive “can do”attitude is a good and necessary attribute for conquering the most stubborn of problems, some things just can’t be done in this lifetime.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. Turning over all criminal law to the Superstate would end the confusion over all these quaint laws on the books in villages with cobblestone streets and a statue in the town square. Let’s hear it for Brussels!

Aha! It’s spreading across the region.
4:59 p.m. — A caller on the 10700 block of Oak Drive reported he was just chased into his house by two 200-300-pound pigs; the pigs then started tearing up the man’s yard.
Which explains these two entries. Hogs running amok!
11:42 p.m. — A caller reported two naked men running through the drive through of a fast food restaurant on the 1800 block of East Main Street.

Got Generator?
Blackout California: The shutdown of the facility due to a leak in the Aliso Canyon underground gas storage facility in Southern California has resulted in the California Independent Service Operator (CAISO), which manages the California grid, estimating that all customers should expect to be without power for a total of 14 days this summer. Some 21 million Southern Californians may be directly affected. Southern California relies on natural gas to balance its solar and other power plants, particularly during the summer. Complicating the issue is the “California Duck Curve” which illustrates the steep ramping requirements in California due to the addition of solar capacity. The sharp increase in power needed from about 4 pm to 9 pm is taxing on all equipment employed.
http://euanmearns.com/blackout-california/#more-14385
While this is mainly a Southern California problem, we could experience brown outs in Northern parts of the state should grid issues arise during the outages in the south.LikeLike
-
Got fuel for the Generator?
A greater threat than a brown out is a EMP from the Sun
The EMP threat from the sun is real. In 1850 the battery-powered telegraph system in the U.S. suddenly burned out. Shortly before a treaty to ban above-ground nuclear detonations was to take effect, our military fired a missile with a hydrogen bomb warhead designed to destroy an incoming intercontinental ballistic missile from an island off the coast of Asia to high above the atmosphere. Its EMP damaged electric utility equipment thousands of miles away in Hawaii. Our military responded by requiring protection against EMP and testing of that protection in procurement of military systems. EMP from the sun might last a month and destroy unprotected electric grids around the world. An enemy missile with a hydrogen bomb warhead detonated far above the Earth’s atmosphere could shut down electric grids from coast to coast in North America. Consequences would include no functioning pumps at gas stations, no working cash registers, no pumping of water out of reservoirs or pumping of natural gas or oil in pipelines, communications limited to word-of-mouth and hand-delivered notes and no functioning banks or governments.

“Scientist,” Michael Mann says there is no need for statistics: You can just SEE global warming.
“What is disconcerting to me and so many of my colleagues is that these tools that we’ve spent years developing increasingly are unnecessary because we can see climate change, the impacts of climate change, now, playing out in real time, on our television screens, in the 24-hour news cycle. Regardless of how you measure the impacts of climate change — be it food, water, health, national security, our economy — climate change is already taking a great toll…
Let me translate for you. Mann’s models are so far from reality that he has taken up watching his TV set looking for imaginary signs of global warming disasters. And, your tax dollars are paying his salary as he stares into the TV screen.LikeLike

Oh – I know. I’m just too old and white and grumpy.

thanks for raising that awareness as to how vulnerable our electronic infrastructure is. Getting closer and closer to banning the word American. Must be a cultural thang.
editor’s note later amended to the University of North Carolina guidebook makes clear that it “does not represent University policy.” Rightttttttt.

-
Paul@08:08PM
I had not heard that rumor, but the military has hardened critical facilities against EMP. They may still have some tube radios in inventory. The Minuteman Missile are still being programmed with floppy disks, change is slow in the military.
We should have 8-10 min warming from a solar EMP and can protect some electronic devices if preparations were made in advance of the event. We have some metal cans for cell phones, laptops, iPads, etc plus other preparations for a solar event. I subscribe to a cell phone app by Space Weather. that warns me of solar events.LikeLike

Paul, I not only have heard that “rumor” countless times, there is a wealth of research that it would be close to a doomsday scenario. I feel hardening the grid may be the most important Homeland Security undertaking we should be doing and doing now. A nationwide extended outage would wipe out millions of people, most estimates higher than 2/3 of the population. Others closer to 90%.
Before people think this is alarmist bull puckey, think about it. How many people you know could survive without access to food, petro, water, cash, etc say for a mere 2-3 months?? A complete shutdown of our delivery system of goods and services, not to mention how people freak out when the net goes down for just 90 minutes. Mayhem, riots, carnage and no food, water, and Facebook. Even electric go carts would be abandoned on the side of the road. Solar panels might keep you warm, but not alive.
Yes, you only asked about electronics, and I was referring to the entire grid. That’s what makes N Korea so scary. No need to launch nuclear bombs on our cities. Just detonate a couple in the atmosphere above us.
More likely than that is some badass solar flares could really put the hurts on us. Heard we dodged the bullet about 3-5 years (?) ago with the potential, but missed Earth.
Ah, just rumors. Nothing to see here. We did use some bombs Desert Storm denotated above Iraq’s phone system that energized the air and melted their whole network. And that was just a small baby.
Disclaimer: before those in the know jump in, this is all above my pay grade. In fact, it’s all above me. smiley face.LikeLike

Now here’s a little mind bender for all you thinkers out there. Ms Pelosi immortalized herself with “We have to pass it before we can find out what’s in it.” Being a woman of wit and humor, she was obviously referring to something very similar to a stool sample. Only later did we discover the dear lady’s wry sense of humor, and that the joke was on us.LikeLike

Mr. Steele, sorry (kinda) for blaming you earlier.
Last Tuesday Trump came out and leveled some very serious charges of corruption against My Gal. Ok, it’s been a week now. Has anyone anywhere discredited the charges he quoted from the book Clinton Cash? Heard Clinton Cash is well documented 10 ways to Sunday. I expect people to shot the messenger and pooh-pooh it without cracking the cover, but has anyone out there read of one single charge being full of Road Apples?
The silence is killing me. Even My Gal’s rapid response team is mute. Very odd. Odd indeed..
Heard David Gergen said the book was discredited in a simple one-liner answer to the question posed, but later found out he mistook Clinton Cash for that Secret Service book which I feel uneasy about any Secret Service agent spilling the beans.
. BTW, I reckon most of that Secret Service book was the author with other agents swapping stories in the bar after work. May be true, but it just makes moi nervous it was even written. It just makes the SS’s job that much harder now in developing trust with the President, a needed quality as his closest personal protection detail.
However, I will let my imagination drift off for a moment. The story of an enraged Hillary throwing the lamp at Bill in the first term had been around for years. Dee Dee Myers the Press Secretary / White House Spokesperson (whom I really liked) was handed a piece of paper in the morning that said Bill cut himself shaving. While she was telling the awaiting press that, Bill walked in with the side of his face red and bruised and cut..above the beard line. Boy, she sure felt stupid, one of those OWG moments. She didn’t last long in that position, but I digress.
So, imagine if you will discussions within the Secret Service of how to protect the President from his wife! Oh my, it is their job to protect the President, is it not? Rumor or not, the word had been out for years that if an agent messes up, he is assigned to the Hillary detail as punishment…..all rumor of course. Oh, too funny.
Back to the original question. What facts has the Hillary campaign released to dispute Trump’s highly explosive charges of the money trail laundered through the Clinton Foundation/Global Iniative back to the Clinton’s pockets/campaign?? And what about her failing to declare 1,000 foreign donations? Any word? Anybody?
PS: if Rusty Zipper asks if his dress makes him look fat, the correct answer is “No, it’s your ass that makes you look fat.”LikeLike

You got it Dr. A wild pig shows up, grab the nearest shooting iron and have the Mrs. call the butcher before the smoke clears the barrel. And tell hardly a soul. Maybe after the evidence have been cooked and eaten. But as with any Ca. state agency, they will find any excuse to drag you into court. “was the gun locked up at the time? was the ammo at the other end of the house? Did you give a verbal warning to the pig? Do you believe the Castle doctrine applies here?(duty to flee) Did you take notice of the direction you were shooting? Were you 150 feet from the closest structure? And of course,, did you use “green ammo”? Fish and Game AND the county would love to find an excuse to relieve you of your 2ND amendment “privileges”. The Behgazi Report is HERE:
https://tpp-resources.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/SelectCmteBenghaziFullReport.pdf?
The following facts are among the many new revelations in Part I:
• Despite President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s clear orders to deploy military assets, nothing was sent to Benghazi, and nothing was en route to Libya at the time the last two Americans were killed almost 8 hours after the attacks began. [pg. 141]
• With Ambassador Stevens missing, the White House convened a roughly two-hour meeting at 7:30 PM, which resulted in action items focused on a YouTube video, and others containing the phrases “[i]f any deployment is made,” and “Libya must agree to any deployment,” and “[w]ill not deploy until order comes to go to either Tripoli or Benghazi.” [pg. 115]
• The Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff typically would have participated in the White House meeting, but did not attend because he went home to host a dinner party for foreign dignitaries. [pg. 107]
• A Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) sat on a plane in Rota, Spain, for three hours, and changed in and out of their uniforms four times. [pg. 154]
• None of the relevant military forces met their required deployment timelines. [pg. 150]• The Libyan forces that evacuated Americans from the CIA Annex to the Benghazi airport was not affiliated with any of the militias the CIA or State Department had developed a relationship with during the prior 18 months. Instead, it was comprised of former Qadhafi loyalists who the U.S. had helped remove from power during the Libyan revolution. [pg. 144]
In one word: Incompetence

BTW, the US Gobberment statement concerning what happened to that poor 5 year old special need American girl (child) was released via their spokesperson CIAR. They warned against hate speech and blah, blah, blah, stating these are families fleeing the civil war in Syria. WTF?? The perpetrators of this unspeakable act were not Syrians….mostly Sudanese and another non Syrian lad from a place nowhere near Syria.
Very disingenuous.
Sudanese? Hmm, that sounds familiar. Oh yeah, most of the robberies and sexual assaults of fine German and Swedish women on New Year’s Evil were from “North Africia, not Syria. Now our spokespersons are hiding behind Syrian women’s burkas, lol.
To be totally fair, all Syrian refugee/immigrant terrorist attacks or attempts or plotting terrorism on US soil since 9/11 amount to 4, the same number as UK citizens. The shoe bomber and 3 more.
So, I will cut the true Syrians fleeing the civil war some slack. But those Islamic North Africans are a different story. Pakistanis top the list. Go figure.LikeLike

Coming out of her 7:30 meeting, while the Ambassador was still missing, there were 10 action items. Five of the items were about blaming the video and messaging, not about saving Americans under attack. Discussion was more about how they should respond, about how any rescue should be viewed by the Arab world, not saving lives of Americans under attack.LikeLike

Dr. Rebane @ 8:39am. Glad somebody will read it, the press hadn’t. Now the Libbies have mentioned Donald J Trump 29 times in the Dem report…er…talking points. Trump was involved in Benghazi? Ah, nothing political here, just the facts. Rightttttttt.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Syrian refugees fleeing the civil war in Syria relocated to Idaho?? Right…….
4,650 refugees were resettled in Idaho between 2011 and 2015. Of these, 17 percent, or 785 were from Iraq, 15 percent, or 708, were from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 12 percent, or 554, were from Bhutan, and 11 percent, or 500, were from Burma.
The Congo, Burma, and Bhutan are countries with high rates of active TB and latent TB infection (LTBI).LikeLike
