CO2 sensitivity as determined by the IPCC has been in the range of 1.5 to 4.5C+ since the scare started back in 1979… that’s a long time to show no progress whatsoever in determining the single most important quantity for CO2 driven climate change, or the lack of it.
The hard left following that ol timey climate religion will have as hard a time adjusting to their raison d’etre evaporating as the creationists did with the Scopes trial. Payback is a bitch.

Jo Ann just got back from the Repub Central Committee meeting. It turns out that only 40% of registered Republicans bothered to vote. The Dems got the benefit of the Bernie bounce and stopping W, so their turnout was much higher. Maybe there’s hope for the Repubs in November after all.

Dr. R, When I saw the first returns I thought ok we have a whole lot more votes to count, but we didn’t. I hope this serves as a wake up call for the NCRP leadership to stop letting people lay on laurels. The good news is they have the summer to make the necessary changes to get that most basic of functions, get out the vote, back on track. Changes that will empower and energize the volunteers.
I was at Supervisor Scofield’s to watch the first return then went home to check the other SAM NOR CAL returns on various pot related ballot props. It was a great night with the obvious exception of Nevada County.
San Jose rejected more pot shops and the Counties continued with results like Yuba. A good trend for November.
I wanted to extend a personal thank you to all the hard working volunteers who did so much in so many ways. Especially the sign crews! 😉

BillT 928pm – Do I understand that as a registered voter you didn’t get a mail-in ballot even though 1) you are in a vote-by-mail precinct, and/or 2) you requested one without response? There have been other voters reporting irregularities with their names being omitted from the voter rolls or being partially changed. With Greg Diaz on the job, this bears looking into since this election went by the boards without a ‘voter integrity’ effort in place.

Hard to argue with Dover’s 9:42 pm after more Republicans in the history of R primaries voted for Trump than any other R candidate received ever. Set a few records, from turnout to votes garnered. What are your friends gonna do? Run to your candidate?, ROFLMFUEO. Give your imaginary pals some time. As I recall, if my memory is still functioning, I predicted that W would fail and Hall would win District 1, due to inactive Republicans. It appears that only 40% of the Republicans bothered to vote. I cannot find the exact quote on RR, I hope it was not in private email with George.

Dr. R, in the last few weeks we started to get multiple reports of R’s who had voted last cycle who got Green Party ballots. Some were fixed but how wide that issue was is still unclear. It could be part of the new software glitches that plagued the poll workers. But since only 42% participated none of those kind of issues made any difference in any races.
The “jon’, I got more votes in Dist. 2 than Ted Cruz got in the entire County. LOL 😉

The Dr. George Rebane @ 9:44 pm last night.
It’s complicated but I will try to be brief. It’s not Diaz’s fault. It is the US Post Office’s fault. I recently applied for and received a PO Box. My street address and official parcel address of record is spelled one way by the County and State while the USPS spells it omitting one letter. So, the change of address form to send mail to my new PO Box rejects the proper County records and returns all mail unless my address is spelled the wrong way (the way the USPS spells it). One small vowel, one small typo on the USPS records. And no matter what one does, it might take an act of Congress to get the USPS to correct their typo.
That is why I said timing is everything. If I had done nothing I would have continued to receive my ballot as usual. But nooooooo. Even my CDL has the wrong address according to USPS. This even held up escrow for 5 months, but I assumed it was all taken care off after talks with the Post Master, County, Bank, etc. years ago. But, noooo.
The only solution is to contact everybody and have my billing address changed to the address that omitted one little vowel.
Oh, I am being held responsible for the sins of my gobberment fathers. Nothing to do with Diaz. Besides, I did not have to take a stand on anything, so I felt like Hillary for a day.

This is rich. The media today is raking Trump over the coals, crying doom and gloom about the Republican Party. Even Obama is worried about the Republican Party. Too sweet. They have not got one thing right so far this election cycle, but they keep trying. This tells me we got them by the short hairs. What did Buffet say? Buy when there is blood in the streets. Gotta love it.

Both of my parents and my three siblings are all life-long Republicans (none live in Nevada County). I am the only DTS in the family. Dad went to the polls but did note vote for prez. The others didn’t bother going and have openly said they won’t vote for Trump in November but will probably vote for other positions and propositions. If they are at all average Republican voters (and a 40% turnout would suggest that is likely) Clinton will be our next president.
Our new senate will almost assuredly swing to the left. I can only wonder if the current fools in the senate will consider Obama’s moderate supreme court nominee, or out of spite and pride, wait for Clinton to choose someone far less agreeable with the right? My guess is that their personal short term agendas are more important to them than the long term impact on the nation.

Yep, the Senate should be tough slogging for the Republicans since they took the Senate and sent Harry Reid into approaching retirement (with all his campaign money/funds raised to be spent on himself because he needs the dough to remodel his house. It’s been approved by the FEC, but I digress).
The reason the Senate has been forecasted to be a tough slog since the last election cycle is simple. There are 24 R’s up for reelection, 10 Dems. The Senate forecast has been a matter of record since 2014. 24 R vs 10 Dems should have some changes, all things being equal.
Now, is Trump palatable to R’s? Time will tell. He did sweep the streets of 16 challengers, give or take. Now that Obama will team up with My Gal on a two prong attack on The Donald, it would appear to the indiscriminating eye that Trump is toast. Only if he keeps putting his foot in his mouth then shooting himself in the foot. Ah, it’s all part of the learning curve. I like Trump’s odds right now more than ever. Do not overlook the angry angry mood of our Nation. The throw the bums out mantra is stronger than any well crafted and focus group crafted utterance. Bern it down! Go Bernie, go.
Of course I expect Obama to continue to push that his economy is going great and if you disagree, you are grossly misinformed, lol. And Hillary has tied herself to Obama and his wonderful foreign policy decisions. So, Hillary owns the Iran nuke deal, the economy, and older men in young girl’s bathrooms.
Toast? Hmmm. A lot of troubled waters ahead. Just ask DNC Debbie. Strike that. Debbie will say things are great. To quote an overflowing vat of grease drippings, “Things have never been better.” Guess that includes the dwindling attendance at the Father’s Day Bike Race and the robust sales taxes generated at the old Broad Street Furniture Building. Hey, someone is living in the top floor of the building so it’s finally occupied. Great news if your view of the center of the universe is 40 acres called the Berkley of the Foothills. No cameras allowed when Mongul decides to eat in public. Gawkers have been forewarned.

While I hesitate to try to explain how Republicans think, I suspect the low GOP turnout in Nevada County can be attributed to Trump. Some people didn’t vote because Trump has the nomination locked-up, so why bother. Some people didn’t vote because they were horrified that Trump has the nomination locked-up.
Local residents seem to have an inordinate interest in elections outline the county, sometimes to the exclusion of local issues that actually impact their lives. I was still working for The Union during the 2004 general election and was drafted to write the story on how Nevada County voted in the presidential election. (I was the business writer and figured I could sneak out of the office early, but it was all hands on deck.)
It was obvious that Bush was going to beat Kerry, and it was unlikely that Nevada County would buck the national trend, so I wrote what I call a fill-in-the-blanks story. I did a little research on how the county voted in presidential elections, did some exit interviews at a couple of polling stations, and wrote a story declaring Bush the winner in Nevada County before the polls closed. (We inserted the actual vote totals later.)
This was the election when local conservatives were ousting the Gang of 4 behind NH2020, Nate Beason winning in District 1 and John Spencer beating Bruce Conklin in District 3. But my fill-in-the-blanks story got more online hits than any other election story The Union ran. Go figure.

“24 R vs 10 Dems should have some changes, all things being equal.” You are stating the obvious. Don’t you think that would occur to the current right leaning senate and they would get into gear to get a middle of the road court justice rather than wait for a more liberal nominee and a more liberal senate? They are betting on a presidential coin toss that isn’t heavily in their favor. I think as a whole (dems included) they are a short sighted and self-serving group. They want to look tough standing up to O, but instead they look foolish and petty in their gamble.
TJ- I must admit I would have liked to have tipped back a few but I was the DD of the evening. At Duane’s crowd at ol’ Republic I was mighty tempted because I DO like their beer! Not so much the hard stuff at GE.

An email from our Designated Reader this morning illustrates how the Left manufactures its own world. At the FUE’s echo chamber RR reader ‘jon smith’ claims in the aftermath of the election all of us here are sitting in a “deafening” and “stunned” silence save for my attempts to “baffle (RR readers) with bullshit”. The comment streams here tell a different story with jon smith’s own contributions withstanding, but the necessity to impose such a misrepresentation remains a puzzle.

Never having registered or self identified as GOP, I can’t say I care all that much about their long term prospects, but the gloating over demographic trends by the left assumes Democrats own their current demographic strongholds and that Berners or similar won’t fragment the loony left away from the mother ship.
“More free stuff” doesn’t work in the long run.
Regarding District 1, it may be that REPs didn’t care that much because it was current Democrat Heidi with no track record in elective office against longtime Democrat but current independent Duane with no track record… so what’s to get excited about? Now she’s in and will either satisfy constituents or get replaced eventually.
Personally, I’d suggest she follow her instincts and go hard on decarbonizing Nevada County… it’s either the right thing to do or it ain’t and I know many of her biggest supporters expect it to happen.

I think maybe the grand Old party is getting too old. Too tired to kick off their slippers and get up from the Lazy Boy, their Rob Roy, and reruns of I Love Lucy. I think a lot of Republicans have hit that stage in life where they simply don’t care much about what elections mean, because it really won’t effect them for long. In the health care profession it is known as the Old Codger syndrome because so many elderly people don’t follow medical advice because they think, “why bother?”

So sorry Greg, you just theorized the GOP stayed home because Strawser was a former Dem and current indy. ie, didn’t trust him to be a good card carrying conservative, which he wasn’t. So why did they stay home Greg? I think smith is correct. Old timers are tired and not interested anymore, especially when they see a guy who reminds them of Joe McCarthy leading their party off the cliff.
